A hooded figure watched carefully as the young man shared his last moments with his father and a promise was made. A promise that he will soon accomplish, but at what cost?

A very familiar black mark appeared on his arm as the power to slay demons was passed onto him.

"Oi! Are you just gonna sit there?!" The young man shouted over to the hooded figure. "You've been watching the fight all this time!"

"I did." The hooded figure whispered and jumped down to the ground.

"Are you from Tartaros?!"

The hooded figure scoffed. "No."

"Then who the hell are you?! And what are you doing here?!"

"I came here to fix a few things."

By the sound of his voice. The young man stood in shock as the cold wind blew the hood off the figure's head. He saw himself, but he looked so different. He looks older, his hair is styled in a different way, and most notably a huge dark mark envelopes half of his face. But what terrified him the most were his eyes. His eyes looked maddening.

"No." The young man clutches his arm, which contains the dark mark that is formed upon his father's death. "It can't be."

"Gray Fullbuster, I am you from the future."

The young man trembled and fell to his knees. The image in front of him is unreal. He refuses to believe that this is him from the future. He looks way too evil.

"I can see why is it so hard to believe." Future Gray laughed and tore away the cloak to reveal his half-naked figure. His Fairy Tail Emblem is still on his Pectoral, but it's colored white to contrast the darkness that enveloped half of his body. Two large scars are seen on his abdomen. One of which is unfamiliar to his younger self.

"But it's the truth."

"Hold on!" Gray shouted. "What the hell are you talking about?!" Gray pushed forward and forced himself to stand on his feet again.

"What are you really doing here?" Gray's mind is filled with questions. This new revelation screwed up his head.

"I'm here to kill the bastard responsible for her death." Future Gray chuckled maddeningly.

"THAT'S YOU!" He screamed and blasted a powerful ice attack that Gray was quick enough to dodge.

"What the hell!" Gray screamed. "This makes zero sense! Why are trying to kill me!"

"IT'S YOUR FAULT! IT'S MY FAULT! IT'S OUR FAULT WHY SHE'S DEAD!" Future Gray screamed, as his hands trembled. "If I kill you now, then maybe she'll live."

Gray is beyond confused about what's going on. His future self obviously has gone crazy. He's terrified to see this image. Is this really what his future holds? What happened?

"Chill out for a bit why don't you!" Gray took a stance and cast a spell.

"Ice Geyser!"

However, the attack failed. His attack shattered into tiny particles.

"I'm so much more powerful than you. I'm your future self remember!" Future Gray laughed.

"ICE DEVIL'S RAGE!"

That attack feels so much more powerful compared to when Silver did it. Gray dodged the attack and ran forward to fight him. However, no matter how much he tried, he was just too powerful.

"Do you really think that you have a single ounce of a chance of beating me?!" Future Gray laughed.

"ICE DEVIL'S ZEROTH DESTRUCTION SPEAR!"

An ice spear pierced through Gray's shoulder and was pinned to one of the ice formations in their surroundings.

Gray cursed as he tried to break free. He panted as he tried to comprehend ways to possibly beat the foe in front of him. As well as thinking of the possible reasons why his future self is acting the way he is.

Future Gray made a sword out of ice and walked towards him.

"What happened to you? Why are you doing this?!"

Future Gray aimed the sword directly at him. His demeanor is cold, dark, and demonic.

"Whatever happened, I can fix it! I can help you!"

Future Gray chuckled. "There's no fixing this."

"Not if I can help it!" Gray shouted and broke the spear with his bare hands and proceeded to punch him in the face.

"Fairy Tail wizards never gives up. No matter how impossible things get! We fight till the bitter end."

"I've grown tired of that!" Future Gray shouted, his voice cracking and his body shaking. "I'm tired of fighting. I just want this nightmare to end!" His hands trembled as he pointed his swords toward his younger self. "She's better off without you."

"Do you really believe that? You and I both know that if I die right here right now, she'll be heartbroken. Do you want that to happen? Do you want to do that to her? To Juvia?" He's not an idiot. He knows the source of his anger. He knows who she is.

He's scared. Because that is his worst fear. Panic, fear, and all kinds of negative emotions flowed through him. It sent shivers down his spine. He had avoided his feelings for her for the longest time because he was afraid. He's afraid that if he admits his feelings for her, she'll leave him like everyone else that is near and dear to his heart.

The marks on his body slowly got smaller. It's not completely gone, but it didn't cover half of his body anymore. He dropped his sword and trembled as he fell to his knees.

"I can still fix everything! Just tell me what to do!" Gray shouted.

The sight of his future self is horrifying. If he can do anything to prevent this from happening, he'll do it.

Future Gray chuckled. "That's not gonna happen. I'm cursed to be alone."

"You probably already realized it by now. But I'll still say it. A year from now. Juvia will die and it's all because of me."

"I lost myself that day. Everything went black. I didn't how many people I have killed. I don't even remember how I got here." Tears slowly fell from his eyes. "I'm so tired. I haven't slept in days. I can't sleep. Nightmares haunt me day and night."

The terrifying demonic aura that emitted from him is long gone. What was left was the broken shell of a man.

"I have no idea how to change the future. I have no idea how to save her and it pisses me off! I can't do anything!" He shouted, tears streaming rapidly from his eyes.

"What happened?" Gray sat down in front of the older figure. Looking him in the eyes. "What happened to her?

"There's a war... and in one instance there's a wizard that cast a spell on us. Forcing us to fight each other... a fight to the death." Future Gray started, his voice and figure trembling as he recited his most painful memory.

"I can't do it... Not to her. So I stabbed myself before I hurt her any further but she had the same idea. I was able to live because she cast a blood transfusion spell on me. She died protecting me." His breath grew hectic and rapid. "I can still remember how cold she feels. I begged for her to stay, I cried so hard my voice almost broke."

"I love her... I love her so much it hurts." He cried. "The worst part is... the worst part is that she died not knowing that."

"Please... promise me... promise me you'll stay by her side no matter what... be honest with her... tell her everything you want to say."

Gray lowered his head, staying silent as he listened to the broken heart of his future self.

"Don't do the same mistake I did. Then maybe, just maybe the future will change." Future Gray sighed. "I don't want you to experience this type of pain."

"I... I promise." Gray felt tears roll down his cheek.

"That's good to hear."

"Do you... do you want to see her?"

"That would be nice." Future Gray smiled.
