It was the crack of dawn. The red skies of Pentagram City were slowly lighting up as the sun, or what counted as the sun in Hell, rose.

Charlie yawned as she woke up in her bed, the sunlight illuminating her bedroom through the curtains. Throwing the cover off of her, she stood up, stretching her limbs as she turned to look back at the bed, where Vaggie was laying on the opposite side of her.

Smiling, she decided to let Vaggie sleep in today. There was really nothing to do today anyway. Without any hotel guests coming in, nobody would be needed at the front counter, and they had all the bills paid for the month.

Humming a quiet tune, Charlie decided to go ahead and go to the kitchen to get breakfast, seeing no need to change her clothes, since no one but the people already occupying the hotel would be present.

As she made her way towards the kitchen, still in her pajamas, she made out a voice, the sound of singing somewhat as she got closer. Eventually, the sound of a phone playing became more prominent.

"I am, exactly what they say I am! I stand for everything that they can't stand!"

As she got closer, she could distinctly recognize John's voice as he sung along with whatever song was playing.

"I can't help it, I was born this way! But when I'm gone, you'll remember my name!"

His voice matched the song perfectly. If it weren't for the fact that his voice was much deeper and more distinctive, she'd have thought John himself had sung the song.

"I am, exactly who they say I am! Notorious, so Notorious!"

As she turned into the kitchen, she was stunned by what she saw.

All along the counter was a wide array of food. Steak, Pork Chops, Mac N Cheese, Mashed Potatoes… and were those cookies?!

"COOKIES!" She yelled, rushing towards the bowl of sweets…

… only to find herself lifted off the ground by the collar of her pajama shirt.

"Uh-uh! No treats until after breakfast!" John's voice admonished. She felt herself being moved as the music's volume was lowered, and she found herself looking at John's grinning face.

Charlie stuttered, knowing that she'd been caught. "H-Hi John!"

"Hi, Charlie." John responded, the grin not leaving his face. "You have a sweet tooth?"

"Uh…"

John chuckled and plucked a cookie from the bowl with his free hand, handing it to Charlie as he sat her on the ground. "One cookie. No more sweets until after breakfast."

Charlie nodded, and quickly gobbled up the cookie, while John went back to the stove, turning up the music.

She could see now that he was still cooking food. The faint smell of chocolate brownies were in the oven, and there were some biscuits on the stove, and a bowl of what she assumed was gravy was in the microwave.

"John, what's the occasion for this?"

"I have not had a proper breakfast feast in a long time, Charlie." John said as the oven dinged, and he crouched down to take the brownies out of the oven. "Last time I had an actual breakfast gathering, it was a few years before I died."

Charlie tilted her head as she took a seat at the dining table. "Really?"

John nodded. "Yep. My grandfather was the best cook I've ever known. Whatever I make, I learned from him." He told her, a fond smile on his face.

Charlie looked at him. "Is he in Heaven?"

John glanced at Charlie, before chuckling. "In Heaven? He's still alive, Charlie."

Charlie's eyes widened. "Really?"

John nodded. "Yeah. He was only 60 when I died." He informed her as he finished up the biscuits and pulled out the gravy from the microwave.

Charlie tilted her head, curious. "How old were you?"

"17."

Charlie's eyes went wide. "You were 17? And you were poisoned?"

John chuckled as he wiped his large hands on a washcloth, careful not to let it catch on his knuckles. "My wasn't the most… normal. Let's say that."

Charlie raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"

John shook his head with a smile. "Uh-uh. Story for another time." He clapped his hands together with excitement, before gesturing grandly to all the food. "Well, first come, first serve. Take your pick Charlie."

Grinning, Charlie jumped out of her chair, dashing for the brownies, but stopped when she heard John's voice.

"No sweets!"

Charlie pouted, but nodded. "Okay…"

John chuckled as he grabbed a plate for both him and Charlie, handing one to her. "Here you go, Charlie."

Smiling, Charlie nodded. "Thanks John." She took some Mac N Cheese, and some mashed potatoes, while John got himself some biscuits and gravy, along with some steak.

As the two took a seat, a familiar radio voice filled the air.

"Is that the wonderful pork chops and steak that only Johnathan can make?" Alastor's voice rang out as he walked into the kitchen, followed closely by Husk and Niffty.

John chuckled as he began eating his food. "Eat up, there's plenty of food." He didn't even look over when he spoke again. "Touch the sweets Niffty, and you'll be cleaning with your hands."

Niffty looked horrified, just inches away from grabbing a brownie. "B-but… Johnny!"

John shook his head, glancing at the cyclops. "No buts. You know the rules when I cook."

Niffty pouted. "Meanie."

Husk sighed, a content grin on his face as he grabbed himself some mashed potatoes and some biscuits and gravy. "I'm happy to be having some of this, kid."

John chuckled as the three sat down at the table. "I'm glad that I had a reason to make all of it."

"So, my dear boy, what's the occasion?" Alastor asked as he began eating his foot with a surprising amount of grace.

"Like I told Charlie… it's been a long time since I've been able to have a nice breakfast feast like this." He said, taking a bite of his food.

Husk looked at John. "Still thinking about your grandparents, kid?"

John nodded, his tone somewhat sad. "Every day."

Everyone was silent for a moment, before Niffty spoke up. "Hey, no sad stuff!"

"Hey, kid, you got any stuff you have to bring over?" Husk asked John, who thought for a moment.

"Not to my knowledge. Maybe my TV and my game console. Nothing else."

"What about your picture?" Alastor asked.

John froze for a moment, then nodded. "Yeah, definitely the picture."

Charlie tilted her head, confused. "Picture?"

"It's a picture I died with. Had it in my pocket when my heart stopped beating." John explained. "It's a picture of me with my closest loved ones."

Charlie furrowed her brow. "I didn't know you could bring objects to hell when you died."

John nodded. "You can, but it's very rare. After all, how many people in hell actually expect to die."

Charlie nodded her head. "That's true."

John clapped his hands as he finished eating, standing up out of his chair. "Well, I gotta go shopping considering I raided the fridge for this meal, so I'll leave you to it." He said as he picked up his plate and silverware, setting them in the sink.

Charlie looked at John. "You care if I go with you? I don't want you spending money to replace all this."

John chuckled. "Charlie, I didn't ask for permission when I made all this."

Charlie smiled. "No, but you did make a meal for everyone at the hotel." She walked over to the sink, dropping her plate into it as well. "I'm going to be paying for the food that is made for guests and staff. I'm going with you either way."

She glanced over and plucked a brownie from the tray. "I am stealing a brownie though. I finished my breakfast."

John chuckled as he picked up a brownie of his own, gobbling it up in one take. "Yes ma'am."

Charlie smiled up at John. "Let me go get changed and then we can take off."

John nodded as he smiled down at Charlie, watching the princess walk away as she gobbled up her brownie.

He turned to look at Alastor, Husk, and Niffty, who were still eating.

"You three need anything at all?"

Alastor shook his head, refusing to speak as his mouth was full.

"Any chance you could grab a hairbrush, kid? I'm due for a shower and thanks to Al, I don't have my brush anymore." Husk asked, giving Alastor the stink eye.

Alastor groaned. "Husker, I told you, that broken mess was not fit for your fur."

"That wasn't for you to decide, jackass!"

"Okay, don't fight now!" John said, chuckling as he walked over to them and rested his hands upon their shoulders. "Yes, I'll get you a new hairbrush, Husk. Anything else?"

Husk shook his head. "Nah. I'll pay you back when I can."

John shook his head. "Don't worry about it." He smiled at Husk. "Just hold onto what you got."

Husk shook his own head, chuckling. "You really are too good for Hell, John. You know that?"

John laughed. "So I've been told." He looked at Niffty. "Anything you want, Niffty?"

Niffty nodded vigorously. "Yeah! Can you get me the new smut collection they're selling at the Succu-Plug?!"

John nodded. "Got it, you don't want anything." He said as he began leaving the room, ignoring Niffty's cries of protest and Alastor and Husk's chuckling.

Charlie walked into her bedroom and walked up to the bed, gently shaking Vaggie.

"Vaggie? Hey, Vaggie. Wake up."

Vaggie groaned and slapped away Charlie's hands. "Five more minutes…" She mumbled.

Charlie chuckled. "Vaggie, c'mon." She said once more.

Vaggie didn't respond. Instead, she turned over to the other side.

Charlie giggled at the site, and began to shake Vaggie a little more. "Come on Vaggie, you have to wake up!"

Yawning, Vaggie slowly found her eyes opening as Charlie shook her. "I'm… I'm up, Hun… I'm Up…"

The way she mumbled it, Charlie knew that she wasn't completely awake. So, she brought out the big guns.

"Tickle tickle."

Vaggie chuckled lightly as Charlie's hand ran across her side, tickling her.

"Wake up Vaggie~" Charlie said in a sing-song voice as she began to get a little more vigorous.

Vaggie giggled as she began to quickly wake up. "Stop it, Charlie!"

Charlie giggled as well. "Wake up!" She moved her other hand to Vaggie's armpit, her most sensitive spot.

Vaggie was outright laughing now, tossing and turning as she tried to get away from Charlie's ticklish fingers. "Not until you're up!"

Vaggie sat up, laughing as she tried to push against Charile's hands, only for them to keep coming back. "Okay, I'm up, I'm up!"

Charlie smiled as she removed her hands from Vaggie, providing the moth demon some relief from the tickling onslaught.

"So what's up?" She asked, turning to look at Charlie.

"I wanted to let you know that me and John are going shopping today."

Vaggie's face visibly fell, but she tried to hide it. "Why?"

Charlie looked a little sheepish. "Well, John prepared an entire breakfast feast for everyone downstairs, and it took most of what was left of our food." She explained. "He was going to go replace all the food he used, but I offered to go with him and pay myself."

Vaggie raised an eyebrow. "Can I ask why?"

"I won't make staff pay for the food that we provide." Charlie answered simply as she moved to the closet, beginning to remove her pjs as she continued speaking. "This is a place for rehabilitation. I don't want to take advantage of anyone, Vaggie. It ruins the whole idea."

Vaggie sighed as she stood up off the bed. "I know Hun."

Charlie smiled at Vaggie as she closed the distance, resting her hand on Vaggie's shoulder as the moth demon approached. "I know you don't trust him, but I really think he means well."

Vaggie nodded, looking at Charlie with a small smile. "I know Hun, but please be careful."

Charlie smiled, and leaned in to give Vaggie a reassuring kiss. "I'll be fine Vaggie." She assured Vaggie when they separated.

Vaggie smiled, taking Charlie's hand into her own. "I know."

John looked up from his view of his phone when he heard footsteps coming down the stairs, along with Charlie's voice.

"I'm ready!"

He saw Charlie coming down the steps, a smile on her face as she was dressed in similar clothes as to what she wore yesterday.

John smiled as he stood up off the couch with a grunt, his tall height and the low height of the couch making it similar to climbing off the floor. "Well, you have a pretty basic wardrobe, don't you?" He joked.

Charlie raised an eyebrow. "You're still in the same clothes you were in yesterday, Mister."

John chuckled. "Maybe, but I didn't bring any clothes with me, did I?" He asked, looking at Charlie with a playful grin. "What's your excuse?"

"I'm the princess!" She joked, looking at John with a faked haughty look. "I don't need an excuse."

John laughed. "Oh, I'm sorry, your majesty. Please, forgive my arrogance!" He said, waving his hands in fake fear, actually dropping to his knees for the act.

Charlie laughed at the site. A 9 foot spiky giant waving his hands in fear. "You are forgiven if you accompany me to the mall."

John chuckled as he stood back to his feet. "No problem, Charlie."

Charlie nodded as John grabbed the door for her. She walked out the door, John following her and closing the door behind him.

Neither were aware of a particular moth demon watching them leave.

A/N: And that ends that. The song John is singing at the beginning of the chapter is Notorious by Adelitas Way.
