WINCHESTER AND YOUNG – CHAPTER 12 – ROGUE INTERVIEW
FEATURING JADE YOUNG, CHRIS MUHER, AND INTRODUCING CORPS OFFICER LAMONT CRANSTON

DISCLAIMER: I DON'T OWN ANY OF THE SAILWEAVER AND SUPERNATURAL CHARACTERS, THEY BELONG TO THEIR RESPECTIVE CREATORS. DON'T SUE ME PLEASE.

Jade stood in front of General Muher. "Everything is set, sir. Mr. McKay has agreed to the interview, interested in getting his point of view out."

"I would be interested to see what opinions he has. Hopefully, he can explain why he chose to go rogue," Muher said, nodding.

"The appointment is today at seven bells in the forenoon watch," Jade said.

"That's in an hour, will you be able to get there on time?" Muher asked.

"Yes, I have my car ready and loaded, I'll be on the road as soon as I leave you," Jade confirmed.

"Then you are dismissed, Ms. Young. Good luck and good hunting." Muher said. Jade nodded in reply and left his office.

"I see why you wanted me in here for this, I'm surprised she didn't notice me here," a man said, stepping out of the shadows.

"It's why I keep you handy for special assignments. Shadow her, I believe I gave you the information for her destination already. For a rogue weaver, Mr. McKay has been too quiet for my liking. There are rumors that the Navy is looking to hire a rogue weaver for something, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

"Yes, sir, it's what I do best." Lamont smiled, and left Muher's office.

A half hour after she'd left Muher's office, she was standing in front of Castiel Commons. "Well, let's see what Mr. McKay has to say." Going inside of the building, she walked up to his apartment, and knocked on the door.

The door opened and a man stood there looking her over. "Are you Jade Young?"

"Yes, sir, are you Taylor McKay?" she asked in return.

"That's me, come in, I was expecting you." McKay moved aside, letting her in.

"Thank you for taking the time to speak with me today, Mr. McKay. Tell me a little about yourself please," Jade said, sitting down and activating her camera drone.

"I'm twenty-four, I left the Guild after Stars Plot," he replied, not giving away a lot.

"Why did you choose to live here?" Jade asked.

"I liked the area, and being close to water calms me," Taylor said, starting to move over to a desk, opening a drawer. "You got me in the middle of paying bills at my desk." He didn't turn around as he reached into the drawer. "Unfortunately for you, that's not all I was doing." he turned pointing a pistol at Jade.

"I came here for an interview, and you point a gun at me?" Jade raised an eyebrow. "I fail to see the logic of your actions."

"I'm doing the job I was asked to do. My superiors don't like your snooping around where you shouldn't be," McKay said, firing the pistol.

Jade dodged, ducking behind a sofa. "Why can't things every be easy in journalism?" She knew the answer to that of course, because she loved the challenge that reporting the news brought to her day. Unfortunately, she was still getting shot at. That's when she heard the door being broken down.

"Taylor McKay, put the weapon down, and hands behind your head," a bass voice shouted.

"Why are you here? It was just supposed to be the reporter?" McKay fired at the new arrival.

"Last chance, drop the weapon and hands behind your head," the voice said again.

"How about you die instead," McKay said, firing again. This time Jade heard the other person grunt, because the shot hit.

"Alright, we do this the hard way," the voice said, pulling a knife from his side and throwing it. The blade went through McKay's gun hand. He dropped the gun and screamed in pain.

"Are you crazy?" McKay asked.

"I've been called that on occasion," he said, coming around behind McKay, handcuffing him. "You can come out now, Ms. Young."

Jade emerged from behind the sofa, "Thanks, you just saved my life, but I wasn't expecting you either. Who are you?"

"My name is Lamont Cranston, I'm an officer in the corps. General Muher had a hunch something like this would go down, so he asked me to follow you."

"I'm glad he did, or I'd be dead by now," Jade said, looking at McKay. "Are you taking him back to be questioned?"

"Yes, he will also have to answer to the Guild. I do not envy him facing down the Master Weaver regarding his actions. Let's go, McKay. Ms. Young, come a long as well. If he was firing on you, they may have someone watching for you to leave," Lamont said, forcing McKay to lead the way, making sure he didn't try to escape.

Jade noticed the blood on Lamont's shoulder. "You should get your wound treated."

"It will keep until we get back to the compound," Lamont said, putting McKay into the backseat making sure he was secured. Then he opened the passenger door for Jade.

"Thank you, and call me Jade," she said, getting in and buckling her seatbelt.

Lamont got into the driver's side, and started the engine. He took off and headed back towards the compound. "Never go into a hornet's nest without backup next time. If I hadn't been ordered to shadow you, you'd have been dead. McKay was a good shot, and you're lucky he didn't use his spells."

"I know, I won't do it again. I expect I'm going to hear it from Muher when we get back," Jade said, sighing.

"At least you won't be surprised, Jade," Lamont chuckled, before calling in their arrival. When they arrived, there were four corps officers waiting for them. "Those two are to escort you directly to Muher. The other two will be with me while I do the paperwork on McKay. Hopefully he's not foolish enough to try anything."

Jade got out of the car. She was immediately flanked by the two officers. "Thank you for your help today, Lamont."

"You owe me," Lamont said with a grin, as they led McKay away for processing.

"Alright, let's get this over with," Jade said, as the two officers led her to Muher's office.
