So yeah. Been a little over a month, sorry about that. But you know, life. Things are getting harder and more expensive and I'm starting to lose my ability to keep up with it all. I set up a Ko-fi page for anyone who wants to donate and help me out. More on that down below. So let's get started with the final battle of this trial arc shall we? Hope you guys enjoy!

Chapter 26 – Battle Trial (Part 3)
Being the symbol of peace for so long had caused All Might to pride himself on a number of things. However, as he ran to the building that currently held the four students that just finished their mock battle, he couldn't help but feel rather foolish. Letting the fight drag on was something he justified repeatedly as something Izuku needed in order to take his first steps toward conquering his own mental walls. After he announced the winner, those thoughts did a complete one-eighty. Looking back on it, he could have just ended the fight and told the kid later that he performed admirably. Now he was going to yet again get his broken self fixed up. He was not looking forward to that. In the three days Izuku had been on U.A. grounds, counting the entrance exam, he had broken himself and needed the elderly lady's quirk to heal. Powerful as he was, All Might could sense a mile away the nurse of U.A. was not going to like this. Hopefully the small item hidden in his hand would at least lighten his sentence.
On his way out the door, he had ordered the class to stay in the viewing room while he went to check on Izuku. Before he got out, he felt something slip into his hand from behind. Glancing down, he recognized it as one of Camilla's vials of bacta. With everyone else so fixated on the screens in front of them, she took the chance to use the Force and slip one into his giant hand before anyone else could notice. All Might wasn't really sure about using it at first thought. Camilla only had close to thirty of those vials left with no access to more and she herself declared they were only for emergency use. Though both of them could silently agree, this qualified. He just hoped Recovery Girl wouldn't catch wind of it.
He entered the building and made his way up to where Izuku and Katsuki were last seen, and saw that both boys were still in the same place they were when he left. Only now Izuku was getting loaded onto a stretcher by a couple of small robots. Walking past Katsuki, All Might knelt down to look over his successor and internally winced at how bad the damage was. The only solace he could take in this sight was at least it wasn't like the first time he tried it.
'You performed well, Young Midoriya. Now get some rest.'
As he was starting to get wheeled off, All Might reached his hand over to Izuku's shoulder and was able to discreetly insert the needle of the bacta injection into his arm, draining it completely. Then he clenched his fist to hide the empty vial while approaching Katsuki from behind.
"Young Bakugo?" He called.
He received no immediate answer. Had All Might not been facing the boy's back he would have seen Katsuki was still wearing the same expression as was shown on screen before. Except now it was mixed together with a bit of trembling and heavy breathing as the words of Izuku and Camilla rang through his head quite painfully.
'Deku…he predicted every move I made. He barely touched me but he still managed to get around me and win this stupid exercise!'
Katsuki dared himself to look up and surveyed the destruction Izuku's power left behind. Hole after hole had literally been punched out of every floor and the roof. That came from Izuku Midoriya. The useless Deku who had been nothing but a cowering ant in Katsuki's way now had an unexplainable yet devastating quirk. And even after all that backfire and pain, he never once changed in attitude while he was passing out. Which meant one horrifying thing; No-eyes was telling the truth and Izuku was doing everything of his own free will.
'Does that mean…if he and I really did go all out…if we didn't hold back on each other…Deku would beat me?!'
His train of thought came to an abrupt halt as he felt a giant hand come down on his shoulder.
"Young Bakugo, let's return to the viewing room and evaluate your performance."
All Might's voice was calm enough to draw Katsuki to give him a small glance.
"Win or lose you can always learn something from a fight like this."
As the two of them walked out together, they ran into Tenya and Ochako. The latter of which was helping the former walk out while she kept a hand over her mouth and the other on her queasy stomach. It wasn't long until they were all back in the viewing room and standing before the crowd of waiting students. The three present combatants of the round stood by themselves on display while All Might spoke.
"Now that we've all settled down, I would like to award the MVP of this battle to young Iida!"
While Tenya reeled back in surprise at All Might's claim, Camilla was half expecting Katsuki to argue as to why he didn't get that role but he stayed quiet. A plethora of self doubt and confusion were clouding his mind so much, it seemed that he couldn't focus on anything else.
"Shouldn't it have been one of the winners?" Denki wondered.
"Neither of them were exactly graceful in their victory, mon ami." Yuga commented.
"Excellent question! Why didn't I award MVP to young Midoriya or Uraraka? Anyone care to guess?"
Momo stepped forward and raised her hand. "Sir, if I may?"
The number one gave her a nod and Momo went from there.
"Iida is the MVP of this battle because he was the only one out of the four of them who had his head where it was supposed to be. Like Sharro pointed out during the match, Bakugo was letting his emotions and personal feelings for Midoriya get in the way of thinking rationally. He had plenty of chances to end the fight and secure a victory for his team but he chose not to and dragged things out to the point where Midoriya could recover. On the other hand, Midoriya's apparent strategy for taking on Bakugo alone was rather foolish from the looks of it. Uraraka and him shouldn't have separated and used their numbers advantage to try and subdue Bakugo before going after Iida. Iida himself, despite working on his own, kept his priorities where they should have been regardless of whether or not he was successful. More than that, those last moves on both Uraraka and Midoriya were absolutely foolish. If that weapon were real and not fake, either one of their final moves would have probably caused the bomb to go off and there would be a ton of trouble."
All three of the students getting critiqued reacted differently. Iida could feel his heart swelling as Momo laid out the positive details of his performance. Ochako slightly looked away, a bit ashamed of the fact that the tall girl was correct in her assessment. Katsuki, he reacted in a way a couple people thought he wouldn't. He was silent. Usually he would be barking off the head of anyone who dared say what he did was wrong. Here, he just stood there slumped over in defeat as if nothing else mattered.
Unfortunately for Camilla, she too agreed with what Momo was saying. As much as she wanted to defend her friends and talk about Katsuki being too much of a wildcard factor to make any real plan, she knew she shouldn't. Momo didn't know everything about Izuku's power or how deep his and Katsuki's history goes so of course she couldn't take that into account here. And she was right too. Had that bomb been a real one then there would've been a ton of casualties. Maybe at the beginning Izuku and Ochako were serious too. But in the end, Tenya was the only one who was really talking this as seriously as they all should have.
"Um….y-yes young Yaoyorozu! That is one hundred percent correct! The only other thing I can think to add on is that young Iida could have loosened up a bit in some areas too. Like that cliché accent he was using and the monologuing. Other than that, well done! Now let's get a move on and decide the next matchup!"
That was something the whole class could agree upon. They all wanted their turn to fight. As Tenya, Katsuki, and Ochako rejoined the group, All Might had his hands in the boxes containing the lettered balls and fished around for a few moments before pulling two out. They were labeled B and I.
"And it's decided! Team B are the heroes and Team I are the villains! Let's head over to the next battle site!"
All together the class left the current building they were in and took a short walk over to another building down the street. Once there, the spectators headed inside into the viewing room while Shoto, Mezo, Toru, Camilla, and Mashirao all stayed outside. As Ochako walked by, she let her hand rest on the shoulder of her alien friend. Right off the bat Camilla could feel a good amount of confidence coming off of her as she held her other hand up and clenched it into a fist.
"May the Force be with you." Ochako whispered.
Camilla bumped her fist to Ochako's with a smirk. The latter then headed inside to join everyone else while All Might began to brief them. Once she made it in, Ochako could hear her class speculating on the upcoming battle.
"Alright now this is a matchup that's sure to lead to some more good stuff!" Rikido pounded his fists together in excitement. "One of the recommended kids going up against the top scorer of the entrance exam!"
"You know there are more than just two of them, right. They have teammates." Kyoka reminded him.
"Yeah we don't know all that much about Shoji's, Ojiro's or Hagakure's quirks." Hanta said. "They may not be dripping in raw power like Sharro and Todoroki but we shouldn't count them out."
"It's hard to say if anyone has the upper hand going into this." Tenya thought. "True the villain team has an extra person but Sharro's blindness may be a hindrance. She did explain to me a little bit more about how her Forceful Mind quirk works, but will it be enough to see her through to a victory?"
Ochako just kept quiet and let a smirk paint its way across her face. Then Momo piped up.
"She did seem to have a good level of control over her telekinesis yesterday in Mister Aizawa's test. However, I saw more closely Todoroki's power during the recommendation exam. His power over ice isn't just strong. It's refined too. If you ask me I think Todoroki gives his team the advantage. Ojiro's quirk is a close combat type while Hagakure's and Shoji's are more support and reconnaissance suited. If I were to surmise a guess on who would win I would have to bet on Todoroki. Considering who his father is after all, he grew up around hero work. So he should have a good base knowledge of situations like this. Sharro may have a decent amount of power in her but I have to agree with Iida. Her eyesight will be a hindrance if she can't fully take in her environment."
As other people pondered over Momo's words, Ochako just kept her smirk on her face. It was here that she was starting to fully understand why Aizawa forced Camilla to out herself as blind to everyone at once yesterday. A lot of people were still underestimating her despite seeing how well she performed on the assessment. She couldn't really be mad at them for it. When she first learned that fact she was thrown for a loop too. So it made sense they react the same way. Thankfully though, not all of them were still in that mindset.
"Yaoyorozu, don't count Sharro out yet." Eijiro stated. "You weren't there during the entrance exam. She got the top score for a reason. Also when that zero pointer bot came at us, she stood her ground and threw a street at it! Right, Asui?"
"That's right. And I told you to call me Tsu."
"Right, sorry."
The rest of the class let the last part of what Eijiro said sink in for a moment before the visual came into their heads. Slowly all of them came to have similar looks of disbelief on their faces. Even Momo looked like she was starting to second guess her opinion of the blind girl.
"When you say 'she threw a street', you mean like a part of it or certain-"
"The whole street. Ribbit."
Minoru quickly shut up after that and paled in fear that he was about to see a lot more gruesome injuries on screen.
Ochako kept her laughter on the inside.
Inside the building, the three villain team students were all standing in the room with the fake weapon in it. They only had five minutes same as the last team to form a strategy against their opponents. It wasn't a lot of time so not a second should be wasted standing around. Both Camilla and Mashirao thought it would be a good idea to start talking with each other. The latter decided to go first.
"Alright. So what I've seen so far from all three of us, we pretty much have a good set of powers. We got close combat with me, ranged attacks with Sharro, and Hagakure can do stealth and recon."
"We can use that." Camilla agreed. "I was watching Mezo yesterday during his ball throw. Correct me if I'm wrong but was that guy growing other limbs off his big arms?"
Mashirao nodded.
"Some of us talked after school. His quirk is called Dupli-Arms. He can grow other body parts off the tips of his arm tentacle things."
As impressed as she was with that handy power of Mezo's, she quickly realized just how bad it could also make things for her team.
"So things like ears and maybe extra eyes then? That means he's most likely a great tracker." Camilla surmised. "At least two of us should stay together at the start. We can use our numbers advantage for as long as we can and try to flank them."
"That's just what I was thinking. Hagakure, what do you think?"
Both Camilla and Mashirao turned their heads in Toru's direction but only one of them could see how she was standing. The Jedi could clearly make out through the Force that Toru had her arms folded over her chest as if she was covering...
It suddenly occurred to Camilla just why it looked like she was barely wearing anything at all.
"Alright I have two questions for you. First off, I gotta know. Just how do you know where I am?" Toru desperately wanted to know. "Clearly you can't tell I'm invisible right now but you knew exactly where I was when you saved me during the exam. So how can you see if you can't really see?"
Mashirao looked back and forth between the two girls taking what Toru just said in. He already guessed that Camilla was somehow seeing with her quirk but the knowledge that she could see Toru, a completely invisible person, was new info. So now he was just as anxious for an answer as his teammate was. They didn't have to wait long either.
"I can see you. But the way you and everyone else around me shows up in my form of vision is as a black figure. I can see your body, its shape, and the outline of your shoes and gloves on your feet and hands. I can even see quite the head of messy hair on your head. But I can't see anything like the color of your eyes or clothes or anything like that."
Thinking carefully, Camilla stopped her explanation there and intentionally left out the part about seeing colored lights on their bodies. These two didn't know about the Force so bringing that up might raise more questions.
"So you can see me…but you can't…you know…see me?"
"If you're asking if I can make out the specific details of your naked body, then the answer is no. I cannot. I'm just as blind as anyone else when it comes to that."
What sounded like a huge sigh of relief came from the invisible girl as she let her arms uncover what they were covering and fall back to her sides.
"Oh thank God. For a moment there, Sharro, I was worried you were some kind of pervert."
"Nah. Those kinds of things aren't me." Camilla clarified. "But if that's all for your first question, what was the second?"
"Oh right. Number two. Why do you call everyone by their first name?"
Happy it was a more lighthearted question, Camilla answered again.
"That's just an old habit from where I come from. We call everyone by first name rather than family name. If you want me to stop I will."
"Oh no it's fine! I was just curious is all. You can totally call me Toru if you want to."
"Yeah if my first name works for you then go for it." Mashirao agreed.
"Great. Just so long as you call me Camilla."
Toru immediately threw an arm up in excitement.
"Then let's win this, Camilla!"
The girl herself just smiled at her but then sensed a pang of nervousness coming from her other teammate.
"Is there a problem?" She asked.
"No, not at all. It's just…well no girl has ever asked me to call them by their given name before."
Only Toru could make out the small tint of red on Mashirao's face. It made her giggle.
"Aw, don't worry so much about it, Ojiro. Like she said, it's normal where she's from. Like America!"
Ojiro didn't say anything else about it from there, but decided it wasn't worth dragging out. So Camilla rather than Sharro it was. Once that was settled, the three of them worked out what they believed to be an efficient strategy. Camilla and Mashirao would guard the bomb together while Toru would go off on her own and act as their scout. Taking off her shoes and gloves allowed her to be completely unseen so she was the best option for stealth and spying. Once she determined the location of either Mezo or Shoto, she'd radio back to her teammates and one of them would head out to apprehend them while the other remained behind with the bomb. There they would hope for an easy capture. They didn't know the full extent of either of the hero team's quirks, so dragging out the fight to try and run out the timer was the less preferred idea.
"Time for strategizing is up! Let the second match begin!"
After All Might's voice came through the speakers lined in the building, the three moved to put their plan into action. Toru slipped her shoes off her feet and left her gloves next to them before she headed out the door to begin scouting. That left Mashirao and Camilla alone together next to the bomb to wait for their teammate to spot anything. Not even a full minute passed by until suddenly, Camilla was seen wincing and rubbing the temple of her head with her left hand.
"Camilla? Are you alright?" Mashirao grew concerned.
The girl in question refocused herself before looking at Mashirao with visible concern.
"Something is happening." She whispered.
Before Mashirao could ask what it was, the answer showed itself in the form of a lot of ice. Rapidly the entire room froze over from one end to the other. And if the new onslaught of cold against their skin wasn't enough, both of them noticed quickly that their feet were frozen over too and stuck to the ground. While Mashirao tried to jerk himself free from the icy grip, Camilla kept still where she stood and reached both hands to her belt.
"Ow ow ow! My feet are stuck!" Toru complained over the radio.
"Mine are too." Mashirao said as he tried to jerk himself free. "Dammit! This quirk is insane! Todoroki must have frozen over the whole building! What are-?"
*PSSSSHHHHEEEEW!*
The loud noise startled the tailed boy so much he would have jumped off the ground if he weren't frozen to it. Looking over to Camilla, he immediately noticed the two very bright green and blue blades now extended out of those things from her belt. The blind girl then swung both of them down with a bit of strength the blades cut away at the ice near her boots. A few slashes on each side were all it took before Camilla's own leg strength was enough to break her feet free of what remained. She then deactivated her weapons and returned them to the clips on her waist while walking to Mashirao. Once she was close enough, she kneeled down and outstretched her arms with her palms facing the ground at her classmate's feet.
"What were those things?" Mashirao asked about the swords.
"Hold still." Camilla ignored him.
Her eyes closed and Mashirao could tell from the twitches of her fingers that she was using her power. Around his shoes, the ice began to web with cracks. As Camilla curled her fingers and pulled her arms back swiftly, the ice followed her action and broke apart. Once he was free, Camilla then turned around and grabbed Toru's shoes and gloves with her power and went out the door to find her. It was a matter of seconds before she had returned with her arms held out in front of her like she was carrying someone bridal style. When she bent to put the person down, Toru's shoes could be seen hitting the icy floor and slipping a bit to try and stand still.
"Holy wow is it freezing in here!" She cried as she hugged her body.
"What should we do?" Mashirao wondered. "Todoroki turned this whole building into a frozen wasteland. We're in his element now."
While both he and Toru began to fret over their chances of winning slipping away, Camilla didn't join them. All she did was drop to one knee in front of them and then placed her hand down to the iced over floor.
"Maybe so but the fight isn't over until it's over."
She then closed her eyes and began to use her power again while her teammates just watched her closely. Neither of them had any clue exactly what she was doing but they still had a lot of trust in this girl. Mashirao himself was still wondering about what the heck those things clipped to her waist were but wisely decided to hold questions like that until after the fight was over. After a few more seconds, Camilla spoke up but still remained where she knelt.
"Shoto is on the first floor and slowly approaching. Mezo is still outside."
"Still outs-s-s-side?" Toru asked while shivering.
"So Todoroki came in alone. Probably to make sure he didn't freeze his teammate." Mashirao said.
That was only half true and Camilla knew it. As she still kept her mind outstretched with the Force, the feelings of the boy that she saw in that vision came to her. They were the same as yesterday. A desire to show something to himself, a lot of anger and frustration, and all of it she could sense lead back to one thing. His father. The name Todoroki did strike her as familiar. She was quite sure Izuku had brought it up at some point but couldn't recall exactly who he was. Still if this guy wanted to have a fight, then he would get one. Slowly she stood back up. Then, she tucked her cloak a bit more of her body and pulled the hood over her head.
"So that's it then. You want to prove something. Well you'll get your chance."
She then stopped talking to someone who wasn't really there and looked back to her teammates.
"Is there any other way down to the ground?" She asked.
Mashirao and Toru immediately looked around for any emergency exits but all they could find was the door to the room and the window. Both of them chose to look out the window and to their luck, there was a series of metal staircases going up and down the building.
"Yeah there is! There's a fire escape over here!" Toru said happily.
That was all Camilla needed to hear before her mind settled on what to do.
"Here's our new plan. You two are going to use the fire escape and take on Mezo outside. I'm gonna move the bomb somewhere else then go take on Shoto."
Both of her teammates didn't seem to feel all that sure about the idea.
"Are you sure? I mean Todoroki is wicked powerful if he was able to freeze this whole building. You really wanna face that guy alone?"
Camilla was very quick to address Mashirao's concerns.
"I'll be alright. Plus, I mean no offense when I say this. But I think out of the three of us, I'm the only one who can face him alone. I felt him just a moment ago. His feelings, he has a strong sense of purpose. I can sense that even from here. But there's more. He wants to prove that he's capable. Capable of what exactly, I'm not sure. What I do know is that if he does want to prove something to someone, then who will be better to do that with?
Immediately both of her teammates caught on.
"He'll stay so focused on you that won't even bother with me or Hagakure." Mashirao sounded a lot more confident.
"Exactly." Camilla agreed. "Mezo is still not to be taken lightly though. So don't let your guards down. Now go and let's win this!"
"Right!"
Both Toru and Mashirao were surprised at how sure of themselves they were feeling right now but they sure had no problem rolling with it. They knew what they had to do and trusted Camilla to hold up her part of the plan. So they moved together to go take care of their own part. Mashirao politely helped Toru out the window after he was out and they began to work their way down the fire escape, which left Camilla and Shoto the only ones in the building.
Camilla took in a few deep breaths through her nose and out her mouth as she began to focus.
'I have to remember, this is only training and not a full on battle. But that doesn't mean I can slouch. If Shoto is out to prove something, I can't make it easy for him.'
With the help of the Force, the young Padawan was easily able to lift the faux weapon off the ground and free of its icy restraints.
"Luckily the first part of this plan will be easy. Not only that, but I can throw in a little surprise for him."
"Time for strategizing is up! Let the second match begin!"
Once the go ahead was given, Mezo and Shoto entered the building. The former immediately began using his quirk to try and get a lock on the other team's location. The tips of his tentacle arms shifted into ears. They waved around for a few moments before one of the ears morphed into a mouth for Mezo to talk with.
"All three of them are on the fourth floor. Two are together and one is on their own a little bit away from them. From what I can gather, two of them are barefoot. It's likely the bomb is on that same floor."
"Good. You can go outside now, Shoji."
Shoto walked right past Mezo who looked at the dual haired boy confused.
"The way I see it, our opponents mean to keep this a defensive match. If that's the route they want to go with, then this fight is already as good as ours."
He spoke no more words after that. All he did was walk up to the wall and place his right hand upon it. The next thing happened so fast, Mezo could hardly believe what he was watching. Shoto had just frozen the entire building inside and out in a matter of seconds. Listening and doing what the guy asked of him turned out to be a wise move. Once he was done, Shoto proceeded deeper into the building on his own.
As he walked, the Todoroki boy silently thought to himself how this was the true first step into his path. The power in the right side of his body was immense and he knew it. He had known that since his first day alive. His father pretty much spent every second drilling that into him. But his father wasn't the one teaching him here at this school. That title now belonged to All Might, which was something he very much preferred.
"Todoroki, be on guard. The villains got free. Should I head in?"
He hadn't even made it to the stairs yet when he heard that. Immediately Shoto sighed realizing just who was to blame. It had to be Sharro's quirk. If Toru and Mashirao were truly barefoot, then getting free on their own would have been quite painful. All of them getting free could only be possible with Sharro's telekinesis. That meant this wasn't going to be as smooth a victory as he believed it would be.
"Stay there and use your quirk to tell me where they are."
He cut out his radio and didn't bother to say more after that. Once he reached the nearest stairwell, he thought of an idea to probably slow the other team down. After going through the second floor entry door, another wave of ice shot out from Shoto's right foot and the layer of ice in that stairwell he just used thickened over twice as much, rendering it unsafe to use and the other doors that led to it unable to be opened. That would be his new strategy. There had to be more than one stairwell in this building. He could use one to get one or two floors up, ice it over, then go to another and do the same. He'd advance further while the other team can't make their way down to follow him.
It wasn't like he was in any sort of rush, at least not yet. Shoto was quite confident in his own skills with his cryokinesis and determined that alone would be enough to see him and Mezo through to a win here. As he walked down the icy halls of the building, he was expecting just that; an easy victory that showed the power of ice was all he needed to be an effective hero.
What he didn't expect was for two colored blades, one green and one blue, to poke cut through the ceiling in front of him and swiftly carve a circle in it before retracting. The circle then fell away and to the floor with a certain redhead kneeling on top of it. In her hands, she was holding those two pieces of cylindrical metal and she was crouched on the disc shaped piece of floor that she just somehow cut away. Then she stood up, stepped off the disc, and turned back to face Shoto with an oddly pleasant look on her face as she gave him a little wave of her hand.
"Hello there."
Shoto didn't move from his spot. He only looked up expecting to see one or both of his teammates jump down with her. A few seconds passed and that didn't happen. He didn't even hear any other footsteps or anything like that. How did Mezo not pick this up? Confused, he returned his gaze to the girl in front of him.
"You came to face me alone." He said.
Camilla nodded and added on a, "Yup."
He remained unmoving while his eyes looked up and down her body trying to size her up. Moments later, cold began to permeate his right arm.
"I'll give you this much. You are a bold one."
"Time for strategizing is up! Let the second match begin!"
In the training room, All Might stood with a clipboard in his hands ready to take more notes on these two teams. While the heroes moved in, his eyes lingered on the screen that held the image of Camilla on it and her own teammates beginning to make their move, whatever it may be.
'Time to see if this idea of yours bears fruit, Aizawa.'
Behind him, All Might could hear the voices of a few kids still speculating how the match was going to go.
"All of you settle down and pay attention. These are two new teams going up and I want you to watch-"
He didn't even have the chance to finish his sentence before the temperature in the room plummeted and the walls became covered in ice. Everyone threw their arms around their bodies trying to warm themselves up as a result. The only one who was more affected than that was Tsuyu who seemed like she was now struggling to stay awake. Thankfully Momo saw it and produced a weighted blanket from her body using her quirk and wrapped it around the frog girl's body. It seemed to work somewhat but Tsuyu was still very drowsy thanks to her amphibian biology.
"So….c-c-cold…." Mina complained.
"Yaoyorozu wasn't kidding. Todoroki's quirk is stupid strong." Denki said while rubbing his arms.
"And all three of the villains are frozen in place." Tenya observed on the screen. "It looks like this fight will be over sooner than expected."
"No."
Ochako was sure to put to bed any thoughts like that before anyone could agree with Tenya.
"This is far from over."
Only All Might knew just how right she was. Most of the other students were very skeptical of that claim. On screen it was obvious that Mashirao was struggling to get himself free from the ice's grip on his feet. They couldn't see Toru at all but surmised correctly she was going through the same thing. And as for Camilla, she wasn't struggling. All she did was stand there and take the hilts of her weapons off her belt. A second later, they were seen igniting.
"Hey what the heck are those things?" Minoru asked.
"Aw yeah! There they are! The glow sticks of death!" Eijiro shouted excitedly.
"The glow what?" Rikido was confused.
Ochako and All Might both stifled a laugh upon hearing the weapons be dubbed something like that.
"Lightsabers." Ochako decided to correct them. "They're called lightsabers."
"Whatever they are, they freed her. Looks like Uraraka was right. This isn't over." Tenya observed.
That statement was proven further as they watched Camilla use her power to free Mashirao and Toru from their frozen confinement and start talking amongst each other again. Then they split off. Two climbed out the window and began to work their way down while Camilla remained inside and used her power to free the bomb and take it away somewhere new. While she did that, the class panned back down to see what Shoto was doing in his approach. Surely Mezo had to warn him that they were free by now. From the looks of it, he did. Why else would the Todoroki boy freeze the stairwell more than it already was.
"Whoa hey those things can cut all the way through the floor?!"
The class redirected back up to Camilla again once Kyoka's voice rang out. The cloaked girl was now out in one of the corridors and the faux weapon was no longer with her. While she crouched down, she had both lightsabers in her hands and turned on. She then maneuvered the two blades to carve as perfect a circle as she could in that pose and succeeded somewhat. The floor beneath her fell down and she went with it while still in that crouched position. A lot easier than they thought, Camilla stood back up and actually gave a friendly looking wave of her hand to Shoto, whom she happened to land in front of.
"Did she just…wave hello to her opponent?" Fumikage asked.
"Yes…yes she did." Ochako fondly said.
Both she and All Might had their eyes locked on her screen, but Ochako was the one more eager to see this particular fight. With her fists clenched, she smiled.
'Show that walking icebox what a Jedi can do.'
In the frosted corridor of the second floor, both combatants remained where they stood staring each other down. Shoto's right arm continued to drop in temperature while Camilla's grips on her lightsaber hilts tightened. Here in this moment, she could definitely feel a strong sense of calm coming from the boy in front of her, so strong as if he thought this fight were entirely in his favor. As smug as that was, she couldn't say it wasn't a little warranted. This power of his was incredible. So the immense confidence makes sense. Shoto wasn't as intense as Katsuki normally feels about himself however. He felt more calm and calculating as opposed to the literally explosive behavior of her other classmate. If anything, that only made him more dangerous.
"I promise to thaw you out after I claim the bomb." Shoto said.
The moment he reared his right arm back, Camilla could feel the Force telling her danger was coming. She could sense ice, a lot of it about to head her way. And she had to dodge it. Thankfully with the reinforced soles on her new boots, that was still possible with all the corridor's surfaces frozen over. As predicted, the wave of ice came as Shoto swung his arm in Camilla's direction. Rather than be encased by it like Shoto was probably expecting, Camilla jumped to the right and started to run on the wall, completely avoiding the ice attack. Once she was clear of it, she jumped off the wall and allowed herself to slide and stop on the floor right in front of Shoto. Not minding his surprise, Camilla, while still gripping her saber hilts, extended her index and pinky fingers before thrusting both arms forward. At point blank range, Shoto had no hope of dodging. The Force push hit him right in his center and he was sent sliding back on the frozen floor fast. He didn't have time to stop himself with more ice before his back slammed into the wall behind him. He then fell over in a heap as his whole back ached.
"You shouldn't get too ahead of yourself, Shoto."
Camilla stood back up straight while returning her master's saber to the left side clip on her belt. Then she looked down to her feet while tapping the toe of her boot to the floor.
'The soles of these boots really are well made. I have to hand it to whoever made them. Walking on ice with these feels like solid ground. That wall run was easy too."
While Shoto tried to stand up too, the blind Jedi just watched him get up. Looking at that swirling red and white light in his heart only brought back the memory of the day she first saw it. Little by little the figures in her vision were getting clearer. But she was still stumped as to why this Shoto Todoroki was clear before all the rest. Sure Izuku was too but Camilla was certain if she hadn't by that point, he would've been a cloud of fog like all the rest. Who is this boy? Why was the Force point her towards him? All she had so far was speculation. But the hope was by the end of this day, she would at least have the start of a true answer.
First things first though, she had a fight to win.
*PSSSSHHHHEEEEW!*
The emerald blade ripped free once again and the Jedi owning it began to approach her opponent. Shoto was once again on his feet and rubbing his shoulder as Camilla kept walking.
"I don't suppose you'd be open to a friendly conversation instead, would you?"
A brief glimpse into the immediate future via the Force gave her the answer before Shoto could.
"Thought not."
She dashed forward just in time to avoid the brunt of another wave of ice surging out of Shoto's foot. Spike after spike burst from the ground and not one of them hit their mark. Spinning around, Camilla swung her lightsaber and chopped a few of the closer stalagmites in half. Finishing her spin, her left arm reached out and with the Force, she grabbed the chunks of ice she slashed loose and hurled them over her head and back towards Shoto. Swiftly, he dove out of the way and listened to his own ice impact the wall he was just in front of quite harshly.
'This isn't good! I need a new plan!'
The way he predicted this fight would go couldn't have been more wrong. Shoto wasn't too happy to find out this girl could do short range combat too. With that sword in her hand and how easily it slashed through his thick ice, this blind girl was anything but helpless. Now he was fighting the defensive battle. If short range and long range weren't options, he needed to fall back for now. Right before Camilla rounded the corner. Shoto slapped his right hand down to the ground in front of him and conjured up another round of ice. Rather than shoot forward to attack, Shoto manipulated this new wave to form straight up to the ceiling and create a wall between him and Camilla as thick as he could manage. As he stood back up straight, he brushed off some frost forming on his shoulder. Then he spied Camilla's shadow moving on the other side of the ice.
"That should hold you for a while." He said as he brought a finger to his radio. "Shoji, I've engaged with Sharro. Where are Ojiro and Hagakure?"
A few seconds passed. No answer.
"Shoji, come in!" Shoto commanded.
The sound of something unfamiliar ripped his attention forward again. Immediately he saw that green blade protruding from the other side of the ice wall. Cautiously, he stepped back then watched as Camilla began to carve a circle in the ice. The blade was melting through it like butter.
'What the hell is that thing?! It's cutting through my ice so easily!'
Stepping back, Shoto repeated the move again, making another wall to stack atop the first one and increase his defense. Thankfully it seemed to work. He could barely hear the hum of her sword through the small gaps near the ceiling.
"Todoroki! Ojiro is out here with me! Hagakure is too but I'm not sure where!"
Mezo's voice sounded aggressive, which led Shoto to believe that he too was engaged with the other team. Hagakure was a wild card right now in terms of exact location but he was certain a mere invisible girl would pose less of a challenge then the one he ran into. Now that he had some more time to breathe, he could think of another plan. The other stairwell couldn't be too far from here. All he had to do was to get to it and seal it off. Then the match was as good as his. Feeling good about that, he turned to walk away.
*CRACK!*
His neck nearly got whiplash from how fast he turned back. From the very center of the wall, a small crack had formed and began to web up and down it. Followed by another, and then another after that. That spot in the center where the cracks were all coming from then began to glow a very dull orange. Slowly it got brighter and the cracks grew bigger. Shoto was about to set up another layer but the shattering of his first two distracted him. The pieces of his now ruined wall of ice scattered across the floor. Through the shadows of cold vapor, the verdant glow of Camilla's sword shined through it. Then she herself stepped into full view, not minding the chunks of ice beneath her boots.
Shoto was about to set off another attack but Camilla was faster. With a short burst of speed, she was already up close and throwing her leg in an arc right for his head. Shoto just barely was able to move his head out of the way of her boot, but he felt the toe graze a few of his front hairs. Using her momentum, Camilla spun around and dragged the tip of her lightsaber across the floor leaving a burning orange trail behind it. With a flick of her wrist, a good amount of now molten ice and floor flew up towards Shoto's face. His arms shielded himself but he wasn't fast enough to get out of the way of her next kick. A strong sidekick to his chest sent Shoto back once more, stumbling off his balance. Using that as an opening, Camilla approached again and reached into a pouch on her belt. Once he was back on solid footing, Shoto saw the blind girl was now coming for him with her roll of capture tape in her other hand. Realizing he was about to lose, Shoto slapped his right hand down again. Instead of making a wall, he used his opponent's proximity to his advantage and ended up freezing both of her legs and her waist.
"You do realize I can break out of here easily, right?" Camilla asked.
"I do know that. But first,"
He knew that wouldn't last forever so he knew he had to act fast. Before Camilla could begin to use her power again, Shoto reached for her waist and successfully snagged the other lightsaber off her belt.
"Hey! Give that back!"
She was angry now. Shoto could hear that easily. So while she began to chop herself free using the other sword in her hand, he set up yet another wall behind her.
"I'll give it back to you after I claim the bomb." His voice was muffled but audible on the other side.
"You just made a huge mistake!" Camilla cried.
Shoto wasted no more time. With Camilla's other sword in his hand, he turned and ran down the corridor trying to find the other staircase. On the other side of the wall, Camilla made short work of her ice around her legs and with a powerful Force push, the wall came undone and shattered like the other one before it. But Shoto was no longer down the corridor. He was still close though, she could feel it. And now he had his hands on her master's lightsaber. Problematic as that could be, she was feeling more frustrated than concerned. Had it been her own weapon, then it wouldn't be as bad. But she did not like people she didn't know laying a finger on her master's sword.
"You had your chance to capture me and you blew it." She thought out loud. "Then you stole from me thinking that gave you an advantage. Not a bad plan in general, but not a good one either."
*Ssshhhhhhhhp!*
She returned her saber hilt to her belt before walking off in the same direction Shoto went.
"Mezo Shoji has been captured!"
Her frustrations simmered down a bit after hearing All Might announce that. Not even a second later, Camilla put a finger to her comlink.
"Ojiro, do you think Camilla's really gonna be alright by herself?"
Outside the building, Mashirao and Toru successfully reached the ground via the fire escape and were now sneaking as quietly as they could. The tailed boy slowly peeked around the corner and spotted Mezo near the front door.
"She'll be fine." He whispered. "It's like she said. Against Todoroki, her quirk is best suited to take him on."
"Yeah but I still don't feel right about leaving her on her own. I mean, I know she's not really all blind thanks to her quirk. But Todoroki is like…crazy strong. You saw what he did to this whole building right?"
Mashirao tilted his head up and once again looked upon the work created by Shoto's quirk. It was scary to think that only one guy the same age as him could pull off something like that. Still though, he didn't let that deter him. He couldn't after Camilla was the one to free them from the ice and lay out a new plan.
"Blind or not, we have to trust her. Don't forget, she's trusting us to take care of Shoji. Now quiet down."
He looked around the corner again to survey Mezo a little more. From the distance he was at, Mashirao was just barely able to make out the ends of the other boy's Dupli-Arms. All four of them had morphed into ears and they were waving in all directions trying to get a lock on any sort of sound.
"He's listening for us." Mashirao whispered.
"With his quirk, Shoji has crazy good hearing. How do we get the drop on him?"
Toru's question was the same one Mashirao was asking himself. How do you sneak up on someone who could probably literally hear you coming a mile away? No matter how many different ways the tailed martial artist looked at it, it all ended up the same way. Mezo would hear them coming. That presented the risk of not just himself getting captured, but Toru too. Then Camilla would be outnumbered if he decided to go in and help Shoto. He kept running in circles thinking of an idea until his brain finally decided to turn the other way. It turned onto an idea that was a little bumpy, but it had a better chance at working than lying in wait did.
"We get the drop on him by not getting the drop on him."
"Uuuhhh…what?"
Mashirao seemed to ignore Toru's confusion as he stood up straight and stepped away from the wall.
"At least not entirely."
Then he began to walk straight out into Mezo's line of sight.
"Ojiro, what are you doing?!" Toru whisper yelled.
Mashirao didn't answer her. He kept his eyesight right on Mezo and began to sprint for him. He just hoped that Toru would catch onto his crazy idea before it was too late to act.
"Yyyyyyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!"
Mezo, who was listening for anything but a blood curdling scream, stepped back started at the sudden noise and quickly turned in time to see one of the villains charging towards him. With some fancy footwork and a well timed jump and twist, Mashirao slammed his tail into the ground with enough force to propel him high into the air. On his descent, he began to twist again with his tail giving him more momentum. Before he impacted, Mezo shifted all the ears on his tentacles into hands and maneuvered to try and catch Mashirao by his tail. Doing so with six hands was easy. Using the momentum from his descent, Mezo turned with Mashirao in his grip and tossed him the other way. Mashirao used his tail again to shift his weight and land back on his feet. Then he took a fighting stance and began to stare down Mezo, who was doing the same thing.
"Leave it to a villain to charge into a fight on their own." Mezo said getting into character. Then he brought a finger up to his ear. "Todoroki! Ojiro is out here with me! Hagakure probably is too but I'm not sure where!"
So he guessed Toru was out there somewhere. No time to deal with that now. Mashirao leaned a bit deeper into his stance before he advanced again. What happened next was an impressive flurry of attacks and defense from both boys using their skills and quirks combined together. When Mezo punched with three fists at once, Mashirao used his tail to block all of them. When Mashirao tried to whip his tail into Mezo's head, it was easily deflected. Neither one of them seemed to have an edge over the other. This process repeated for a good few minutes and neither of them really did any damage to each other. All they did was drain a decent chunk of stamina from themselves.
Once he had room to breathe, Mashirao took a couple steps back. His arms were still raised in a fighting stance as he stared Mezo down. The only movement both he and Mezo seemed to show was the heavy inflations of their chests as they caught their breath.
"So…you're not too bad." Mezo panted.
Mashirao couldn't tell if Mezo was smirking under that mask of his. But he still smirked back.
"Not so bad yourself."
"Thank you. But you should know something about me."
Without warning, Mezo raised his arm as if he was making a move to punch again. But then he turned on his heel and reached out to grab something behind him. At first glance there was nothing there.
"Ow! Hey, that's too tight!"
Then Toru's voice was heard. On one hand, Mashirao was happy she was able to pick up on the idea he had. But now she had gotten herself captured by the hero. He could see her gloves clasped together right above the hand Mezo was using to hold onto her wrists. And her shoes were above the ground and kicking trying to get free.
"It's not that easy to get the drop on me."
Once Mezo held up a hand with his roll of capture tape in its grip, Mashirao charged again to save his teammate from getting captured. Just like that, the hand to hand combat began anew. Only this time Mezo was literally fighting his opponent with only one of his Dupli-Arms. The other arm kept its solid grip on Toru's wrists as he weaved and dodged every attack Mashirao threw out with his arms, legs, and tail.
"I'm! Gonna! Be! Sick!" Toru cried with every unintentional swing she was sent on.
Mashirao was panicking. He really didn't think this through. All he had to go off of here was to somehow surprise Mezo. He was hoping if he just charged in and gave Toru the chance to sneak up from behind, then something could happen. But his plan didn't go further than that. Now all he could think to do was to try and fight Mezo in an attempt to capture him or free Hagakure. Two problems with that were quickly shown. One, he was already running low on stamina. And two, thanks to Mezo's quirk, it was easy for him to keep Toru out of Mashirao's reach.
'Dammit! I'm no strategist! What the hell was I thinking?!'
"OOOPH!"
His train of thought was derailed via a strong kick to his center from Mezo. His back impacted the ground harshly and a boot came down on his chest before he could move. Mezo had his leg pinning him down to the asphalt. Then he kneeled down and used his free hand to do the same with Mashirao's tail.
"You put up a good fight." Mezo complimented.
One of the tentacles on his left arm then began to extend out. A hand was seen with the capture tape in its grasp.
"But a hero's job is to stop the villains."
Mezo then began to reach for Mashirao's wrist to eliminate him from the match. He was so focused on what was in front of him, what was happening behind him was completely lost.
"I got him! I got him! Shoji's out!"
Toru's proclamation made Mezo whip back around and see yet another roll of capture tape encircling his upper arm and being pulled on by some unseen force.
"Mezo Shoji has been captured!"
Once All Might had spoken, the capture tape fell loose around his arm and Mezo, still in shock, stood back up and let Toru's wrists go free. Then he took his foot off Mashirao's chest and bid the two luck in the rest of their trial before heading off to the viewing room. Since he was eliminated there was no need for him to stand around outside anymore.
As Mashirao got to his feet, he looked to the floating pair of gloves that symbolized his teammate with confusion. He didn't mind having to be saved for the second time from being eliminated. Heroes sometimes needed help too. He accepted that. However he still needed something cleared up.
"Hagakure, just where were you hiding that capture tape? And how did you even wrap it around his arm if he had your wrists in his grip?"
It was a fair question to ask. One or two possible answers to question two caused Mashirao's face to light up red. But given that the girl in front of him was naked, he would not dare speak them out loud. Thankfully Toru didn't seem to notice that redness in the slightest.
"It was inside my shoe! I used my toes!" She happily proclaimed.
Toru raised a single foot and wiggled her toes to show off, not caring that the boy in front of her couldn't see it. Mashirao let loose a big sigh of relief after he heard that. Then and only then he realized that the two gloves were busy putting both her shoes back on her feet. She must have slipped them off while hanging from Mezo's grip
"Your toes. Your shoes. Wow, that makes so much more sense."
"Wha?"
"Never mind. Now that we took care of Shoji we should probably get back in there and help Camilla."
"Right!" Toru placed a finger to her radio. "Camilla, Ojiro and I got Shoji! How are things going with you?"
She only waited a few moments before a response crackled in her ear.
The surveillance room was still chock full of kids who were shivering their butts off thanks to the frozen walls but thanks to the way things were progressing on screen, it was a little less noticeable. When Camilla cut a hole in the floor to drop in front of Shoto, it became even less again. Most of the class was getting amped up now watching two of their most powerful classmates face off against one another.
"Oh man. We are so in for a treat. I can just feel it." Eijiro said, his excitement rising.
No one said anything else. They didn't want to miss anything that happened. Then Shoto made the first move on screen. Rather than be frozen again, they all watched as Camilla very skillfully dodged the wave of ice, ran on the wall a few steps, jumped off, then used her power to push Shoto back into the wall.
"She ran on the freakin wall?!" Hanta cried.
Before anyone could guess just how she did it, they watched as Camilla returned one of her lightsabers to her belt and turned the other one back on. With her green blade shining bright, she dodged the next attack too and even threw some of the ice she cut up back at Shoto using her telekinesis. Then she began to close the gap between her and him, but Shoto just used his quirk yet again. This time though it wasn't to attack but to erect a defensive wall between them.
"What? He's not gonna try attacking again?" Denki asked, confused.
"He already tried that twice in a row, young Kaminari. Trying the same thing over and over again most likely won't get you anywhere in a fight. You need to be able to adapt and change up your strategy on the spot. That's exactly what young Todoroki is doing."
Right after All Might dropped that little tidbit, the screen showed Camilla drive her lightsaber into the wall of ice and begin to cut a hole into it. But before she could finish, Shoto doubled the thickness of the wall. It looked like it could be enough. The wall now seemed to be too thick for the blade to reach all the way through to the other side. But just as Shoto turned to walk away, Camilla plunged the emerald sword into the ice until the very top of the hilt impacted the wall. She didn't move it though. No trying to carve a hole. She just kept it in place. Then the wall began to crack more and more until finally, the whole thing came down and Camilla just walked over the frozen debris like it was nothing.
"Whoa. What the hell is that thing made of?" Mina couldn't take her eyes off of the blade of green.
"Those lightsabers of hers seem to be able to cut through anything." Tsuyu groggily answered. "She sliced up a lot of robots with them in the entrance exam."
"So that's how she racked up so many points." Tenya said as he rubbed his chin.
Once she cleared the debris, the class all watched as Camilla burst forward and unleashed a small combo of attacks that let her land a sidekick on Shoto's body sending him back a ways. All Might was taking in those movements with great interest. That video of Camilla and Nejire taking down that shoulder gun villain a year ago was circulating around the net. He had seen it a few times after learning about her heritage as a Jedi. Even though she didn't do much, All Might was quite impressed with what he saw of her to say the least. Her reflexes, her saber skills, and her Force abilities all combined together made one very formidable warrior. And that was being reflected here in this fight. Since he was so dedicated to training Izuku the past ten months, he never got a chance to go out to Mandalore Island to watch Camilla and Ochako train with Ryukyu and Mirko. This was the first time he was able to see the Jedi in real action and she was not disappointing him.
'Sharro knows that lightsaber of hers can do serious damage to a body with a wrong swing. That's why she's only used it against young Todoroki's ice. Even though she wants to win, she doesn't want to go too far. She may be on the villain team for this exercise, but she is still very much a Jedi at heart. Meanwhile, young Todoroki is appearing to be in trouble. I already know the boy is skilled. I hardly doubt Endeavor would let his offspring be anything but. Freezing over the whole building to make the terrain one he is most familiar with was a stroke of genius. However, if he wants to have a chance at victory, he's going to have to change his tactics.'
It kind of felt like Shoto somehow heard those thoughts because the next thing he did on camera was successfully freeze the bottom half of Camilla's body, rendering her immobile for a few moments. Before she could try to get out though, Shoto rushed by her side and took her master's lightsaber from her belt in the process. Then he made another wall of ice before going off alone once more.
"Not exactly a solid hit on her but I guess it's something." Kyoka said.
"He could've captured her right there. What's he trying to do?" Minoru was very confused.
"Maybe he was trying to be weary of the sword and her power. She is telekinetic after all." Tenya thought out loud.
"If that is the case, then disarming her as much as she could and making a quick getaway was the right move. With only one saber maybe Sharro will be hampered some. Smart." Fumikage guessed.
"No it wasn't. If anything, that was the stupidest thing he could've done."
The rest of the class all turned their eyes to Ochako as she corrected the dark avian.
"How do you figure that?" Fumikage asked.
Ochako kept her eyes right on Camilla as she broke free yet again and broke the wall down with a powerful Force push.
"Yeah he took her lightsaber, but that doesn't mean he knows how to use it. Also that particular one with the blue blade, she's very protective of it. Now I bet you anything she wants it back."
A number of students wanted to ask what that meant, but Yuga pointed to another screen, noticing something the others didn't.
"Well well well. It would seem we should pay more attention to what happens outside the building as well."
Following his finger, the rest of the class saw what All Might was currently hearing through his own radio. Mezo was engaged in a fight with Mashirao and Toru outside the building. The former was on the ground underneath Mezo's boot while the invisible girl seemed to have her wrists trapped in one of his giant hands' grip. Yet there was still a roll of capture tape wrapped tightly around his upper arm. All Might admonished himself for keeping his eyes focused on only one screen. He should have been paying more attention like a teacher should.
"Mezo Shoji has been captured!"
Just like that, the fight was three to one in favor of the villains. While Toru and Ojiro headed back around the building from where they climbed down, Mezo had rejoined his class in the viewing room. Nobody said a word about how he did. There would be time for that after the battle had concluded. For now, they all just kept their focus on those still in the battle.
Annoyance, frustration, surprise, these were all the emotions Shoto currently had running around in his head and then some. This was not how this fight was supposed to go at all. He was so sure upon first entering the building that he would be able to end this before any real altercation could come. A flawless victory with only the power of his right side would have been more than enough to say he didn't need what he had in his left. Then she appeared as if to say no to all of that. Thinking back, he probably should have expected something a little more difficult when it came to her. Those two with the tail and invisibility quirks didn't pose much of a threat to begin with. But this Camilla Sharro girl, he should have been wearier. He was listening when she would explain things she can do with her power such as the emotion sensing and seeing without eyes. Stacking that on top of all the other things she showed off yesterday during Aizawa's test made her quirk quite an interesting one. Her strength and refinement was evident if she was able to break past his attacks and defenses so easily. He had completely misjudged how she would fight. He had thought she would stick to long distance with her telekinesis. But then she whipped out that sword of hers and he learned quickly she could do close range with them.
As he entered the fourth floor and covered the stairs with another thick layer of ice behind him, Shoto looked down to the hunk of metal he carried in his left hand. He figured whatever it was, it would be much better off away from her rather than letting her keep it. He would return it after the fight like he said. Still though, he couldn't help but wonder about the thing. Was there something about it that connected to her power too? Or was it just a really dangerous support item that can cut through walls and his ice with such ease? Either way, limiting her to one was all he could think to do with what little time he had. Had he tried to use the capture tape on her while she was stuck to that ice, he could have gotten pushed back again. Once more, it frustrated him. He knew it wasn't fair to judge her merely because she's blind, but this girl was not making his first real test at U.A. easy for him. He only hoped that All Might wouldn't report this back to his home or anything. The last thing he needed was his stupid old man coming down on him for getting thrown around by someone who can't really see.
As he opened up all the doors on the fourth floor, he looked inside to see if he could spy the bomb in any of the rooms. He opened door after door until finally he came to the last one. This was the floor Mezo had told him they were on before he froze the whole building over. If it wasn't here, then there was going to be a problem. He didn't check any of the other floors on the way up. Again, looking back, that might not have been the best idea. But with Camilla hot on his tail, he didn't have time to check them. The fourth floor was just his best bet so he went with it. But as he opened up the door and stepped inside to an empty room, he realized he may have just made a big mistake. But before he could turn around to go head up to the next floor, he felt something push him from behind strong enough to send him all the way to the back end of the room.
"Did you honestly think I wouldn't move it?"
Turning back around, Shoto noticed he was no longer alone in the room. In her approach, Camilla held up her left hand and twitched two fingers, causing the door behind her to swing shut.
"I iced over all the stairwells. How did you-?"
"I had to cut a few more holes."
Camilla held up her other weapon and jiggled it in her hand before she placed it back to her belt clip. Once she did, Shoto switched to holding the other one in his left hand as he swung his right arm towards the girl. Just like before, another wave of ice, this one a bit bigger than the others from before, rocketed towards Camilla but she began dodging it before it even got close to her. Channeling a bit of the Force through her body, she got out of the way nicely by jumping to the side.
"You missed."
"Did I?"
With an eyebrow raised, Camilla looked over to where she was standing and got what Shoto was getting at. That newly formed ice he shot at her hit a secondary target. The door she just came in through was iced over now, leaving her no way out save for the window. He was getting desperate. She didn't need to sense his feelings to get that idea. Now that the idea of trying to win by claiming the bomb was no longer an option, Shoto was settling for going down fighting. She had to admit, his fighting spirit was something to be admired. Nevertheless, she didn't want this fight to end with one of them seriously hurt like Izuku was. Also unbeknownst to her thanks to her limited vision through the Force, there was a thin layer of frost beginning to form and spread on the right side of Shoto's body.
"Face it, Shoto. You don't know where the bomb is and your teammate's been eliminated. Mine on the other hand are both on their way up here right now. Powerful as you are, you can't take us three on one. Not to mention you just locked yourself in here with me."
Camilla took one step forward and held out one of her hands to him.
"Now give me back my lightsaber."
Shoto could tell from her voice that it wasn't a request, but a demand. And that gave him a new idea. Clearly she had some strong feelings regarding this weapon. So did that mean it was more than just a support item? Either way, maybe he could draw this fight out a little longer and maybe have the chance to capture her up close if he could get her to play into his hand. Looking back down to his left hand, the weapon in its grasp now seemed more enticing.
"This is what you want?"
That tone. That sense of defiance. Camilla already knew where this was going.
'Don't do it, idiot.'
"Then come and get it."
He was doing it. Shoto grasped the lightsaber with his left one beneath his right. Then his thumb found the button in the center and pressed it.
*PSSSSHHHHEEEEW!*
As he held the hilt, Shoto felt like it had suddenly gained ten more pounds in weight upon its activation. Camilla just let loose a sigh and held her right arm straight out. The other lightsaber on her belt jumped from its clip and right into her waiting palm.
"Trust me when I say this. That is not a good idea."
*PSSSSHHHHEEEEW!*
The other ignited and now the room was filled with the hums of two lightsabers rather than one. Camilla had hoped he would see reason but Shoto wasn't listening. He gripped both hands to the hilt of her lightsaber and did his best to hold it steady. Then he took a stance that was honestly not too bad, but not the best either. That signaled he didn't have much weapons training. Great. Now Camilla had to make sure this guy didn't chop one of his own legs off by accident. With her left hand, she whipped the hood of her cloak off her head and crouched down into the Form Two stance.
Shoto was the first to move. The best he could, he swung the blade from his right but Camilla easily parried it. The sword was heavy in his hands but he still could swing with some strength packed in. But that didn't matter. Every strike he made with the blue blade was met with the clash of the green one in a skillful block. This carried on for a few more swings. The clashing noises and the hums were unlike any swords he had seen before, but just holding it was enough for Shoto to believe these things were powerful. Unfortunately, merely holding it wasn't enough. On his next overhead strike, Camilla locked her lightsaber with that of her master's and began to push Shoto back on his feet. Thanks to her own lightsaber not being so heavy, she was easily able to make Shoto step back a bit with a harsh push of her arms.
Easily Camilla was able to tell why Shoto couldn't hold her master's sword so easily. But she wasn't about to let him know that. Kyber crystals were a tricky thing. The more you fight with them, the lighter the saber becomes as the crystal within connects. Every youngling learned that during the gathering. That was why she had to end this so-called duel quickly and not give Shoto a chance to attune to her master's crystal. Closing the gap, she raised her sword and swung down vertically. Shoto was able to block, albeit sloppily. Then the next strikes were ones he was just barely able to use the sword to deflect. Already Camilla was tired of this. Once more she struck vertically. Her master's blade blocked again but she put enough force into the blow to send Shoto off his balance and fall down to the ground. Once he was on his back, Camilla moved her sword down and held the tip just over his chest.
"You're beaten. Surrender now and turn the lightsaber off. I don't need working eyes to tell you don't know how to use it."
She was right and Shoto knew it. But something about the way she said that only made him want to beat her more. Rather than give into the demand, he knocked the green blade away from him and rolled on his body to get out of her way. Then he quickly stood back up and gripped the lightsaber with two hands again. Not long after he was back on his feet, he moved again and swung time after time trying to get an edge on her. But with every swing, it felt like the sword was growing heavier and heavier. His movements were slower and his form was abysmal at best. Still he was persistent. As he kept on approaching her, he decided to try one of her own tricks against her. The tip of the blue blade dragged across the ground leaving an orange scorch trail behind him before he swung upwards. Some molten chunks of floor and ice flew up to her face and Camilla sidestepped to avoid them. But there was still a little opening Shoto capitalized on. He closed the gap entirely and sent a very powerful punch right into Camilla's stomach. All the air left her lungs on impact and she stumbled back a bit as she tried to regain her breath. Shoto thought that would have been enough time to get in with the capture tape and get it around her arm, but the frost layering over his right side slowed him down too much. Before he could touch her, Camilla was already getting up and swinging back. Both lightsabers locked again for a few seconds and the two kids stared each other down while the two blades sizzled against one another. Then Camilla pushed the other blade to the side and got in a punch of her own to Shoto's left cheek. If it weren't for the heaviness of the blade, he wouldn't have fallen back down. But he did, and now Camilla was standing over him yet again in that same position.
"Enough." Camilla said.
He had to know he couldn't win by this point. He just had to. Camilla showed him how foolish it was to fight against her with her own swords. Two seconds later, apparently he didn't know it. He moved his right foot and stomped it down. Camilla was just barely able to jump away from it this time, but another surge of ice impacted the wall near the door and utterly destroyed it and the ceiling above them.
"I'm not giving up." Shoto proclaimed as he got back to his feet. "A real hero never gives up, even when the odds are against him."
Once more, he gripped the lightsaber with both of his hands and stood ready to fight again.
"You hear me, Sharro? I'm not going down so-"
The impact of a tail whipping into his back caused Shoto to fall forward and let his grip on the sword release. It deactivated automatically and was caught again by Mashirao who was standing proud behind the dual haired boy.
"Sorry it took us a while to get up here." He apologized. "It was lucky we were able to find the right window."
He tossed the lightsaber back to Camilla who caught it with a nod.
"I'd say your timing was perfect." She said.
Despite now knowing his chances of winning were slim, Shoto was still getting back up. With rage and panic now fueling him, he turned back around and prepared another ice attack, this time aimed at Mashirao.
"Oh no you don't!"
The attack was too slow. Shoto could feel himself getting too cold. Mashirao dodged and then took his turn to attack. Shoto was sure he could freeze him if he got too close. But to his horror, Mashirao jumped immediately and aimed another tail whip to his left side. He took the impact and slid on his feet to the wall near the window.
"Camilla gave us a heads up on our way up here." Mashirao explained. "She noticed that all of your ice attacks came from the right side of your body and said to aim for your left. Like so."
Suddenly Shoto felt something squeeze around his left wrist. To his horror, he looked down and saw a roll of capture tape held by a pair of gloves wrapped around him.
"And that makes two heroes wrapped up!"
"Shoto Todoroki has been captured! With both heroes eliminated, the villain team wins!"
*Ssshhhhhhhhp!*
Just like that the fight was over. Toru released the tape off Shoto's wrist and Camilla returned her sabers to her belt before approaching the boy.
"You have an amazing power, Shoto." She held out her hand for him to take. "Though it wasn't perfect, I'm glad we got to do this. You were good."
She waited a few moments for him to take her hand only to watch him turn away and walk to where he had frozen the door over. Camilla watched him go still very much confused to a high level about this guy. She wanted to know more about this guy but so much about him was much clouded. Her fight with him yielded little to nothing in terms of knowledge. He was dripping in raw power. That much was obvious. But it was easy to tell he was relying on it a little too much in this battle. Maybe letting All Might and the rest of the class assess things would help.
Shrugging, she turned back to her two teammates who were now standing together.
"You two performed great. Well done."
"We only could perform great because you freed us in the beginning. Without you, I'm sure Todoroki would have won this single-handedly." Mashirao admitted.
"Yeah. You pretty much did all the heavy lifting. All we did waa….was….aaah…..HEEEYIITCHOO!"
Both Mashirao and Camilla recoiled from the harsh sneeze Toru just unleashed. A drop of snot could be seen hanging from what the tailed boy could assume was her nose as her body began to shiver.
"It's uh…it's r-r-r-really cold in here." Toru said with a harsh sniff.
"Oh damn. Here."
Immediately Camilla moved to Toru's side to remove her cloak and throw it around Toru's shoulders. The invisible girl swiftly put her arms through the sleeves and pulled it tighter around her body while Camilla put the hood over her head
"Th-th-th-th-thank you." Toru chattered through her teeth.
"You're welcome." Camilla said with a smile. "Neither of you should sell yourself short. The size of your contributions doesn't make them contributions any less. He was so focused on me he didn't see either of you coming. And…is it getting warm in here?"
All three of them did feel a bit warmer indeed. Then a few drops of water fell from the ceiling followed by quite a lot of water getting them all wet. Looking over, Mashirao spotted the source and gestured for Camilla and Toru to look too. Shoto was over at the ice covering the door and pressing his left hand to it. As the seconds passed, the ice melted and then the whole building began to feel a lot warmer. Every bit of ice Shoto had created with his right side was swiftly being undone by his left
"Heat too? Man his quirk is unreal." Mashirao was impressed.
"HECHOO! Ugh…he couldn't have used it earlier?" Toru complained while she rubbed her nose.
Camilla remained silent as she kept observing Shoto with her interest in him piqued once more.
'So his power has a heat side to it too? Was that why that vision from the Force had me feel that? That's such a-wait. Wait a minute.'
Suddenly the young Padawan was feeling a fresh pang of anger rising inside her.
'If he could do that at any point during the fight, then why didn't he?!'
When the ice melted and they could all exit the building they did so and headed back to the viewing room to face their assessment like the last two teams before them. It was there that Camilla would hopefully get the answer to her questions.
Down on the ground floor, the rest of class 1-A plus All Might kept watching the screens diligently. Mezo was now among them having been freshly taken out of the fight via capture tape. Frustrating as it may be, he was interested to see how the rest of the fight unfolds, even if it meant stepping into a building that was currently acting as an ice chest.
"How is Todoroki faring?" He asked anyone.
Denki was the first to reply.
"Not great. Sharro is giving him a run for his money. I thought for sure he was gonna turn her into a popsicle but he hasn't landed a solid hit on her yet."
"I don't get it! I thought the recommended students were supposed to be the best of us here! Yet Todoroki is being bested by a blind girl!" Minoru whined.
"Both of them seem to be immense wells of raw power." Fumikage noted. "They haven't done much against each other as of yet but Sharro did seem to get the upper hand briefly before she was frozen."
"Yeah then Todoroki swiped one of her swords but Uraraka keeps saying it was a mistake." Mina said.
"Because it was." Ochako flatly stated.
This argument went on as Shoto entered the fourth floor on screen. Toru and Mashirao were caught on the outside cameras climbing up the fire escape. As for Camilla, she was clearly seen still on the second floor going to the iced over stairway and realizing it was unusable. From there, the kids wondered how she would reach Shoto in time to prevent him from claiming the bomb wherever she put it. When she moved it out of its original place, she had gone into a blind spot while carrying it. Then when she came back into view, she didn't have it. So now the whole class was wondering where she hid it.
"Lightsaber or no lightsaber, she better get a move on if she wants to catch Todoroki." Eijiro eagerly said.
"I think that was the last staircase Todoroki froze. How is she gonna get up there?" Kyoka asked, curious.
She and the rest of the class got an answer to that when Camilla reactivated her lightsaber and threw it up to the ceiling. Then she used her power to carve another hole big enough for her to fit through. When the piece of ceiling she cut fell away, she moved in and jumped up to the next floor before repeating the process again.
"The same way she got down I guess." Hanta crossed his arms.
From there, they followed Camilla until she was on the fourth floor too and right behind Shoto. Then it became just the two of them in the final room on said floor with the blind girl shutting the door behind her.
"Ding! Round two!" Denki clenched his fists in excitement.
All Might was making sure to watch diligently and take notes not on just one screen this time. Mashirao and Toru were still working their way back up the building, and now it looks like Camilla and Shoto were once again in the same place. These two were definitely making an impression. Maybe not as big as the one Izuku and Ochako made but that didn't make their showing so far any less impressive. He kept that thought as Shoto froze the door over with his ice and effectively sealed both himself and Camilla inside the room.
"Her movements…does she know?"
Ochako looked back at Momo once she spoke.
"What do you mean?" Ochako asked.
Momo brought a hand to her chin as she voiced her thoughts.
"Sharro's reaction timing is good. Almost too good. Every time Todoroki attacked her, she began to move out of the way before any ice had formed. It's almost like...she could see the attack before it was even made."
Ochako and All Might both stood still.
"Wait, hold on. Are you trying to say the blind girl can also see the future? On top of everything else we've already seen her do? That's insane!"
Kyoka's words may have been true but Momo was convinced.
"It may sound impossible but that doesn't mean it is."
She was sure right about that. In this world of superhumans, all sorts of crazy powers exist. But this one, this…Forceful Mind as Tenya called it, was beyond crazy. So many different powerful abilities all stemming from one quirk just felt like it had to be manufactured.
While they thought on that, Ochako held her breath hoping this wouldn't lead to an awkward conversation. They did have a backstory ready in case people asked questions but…it was not one they were hoping would be necessary to use. The more Momo talked, the more it seemed likely though.
'She got all that just from watching the screen?! This girl's analysis could give Deku's a run for their money!'
"It doesn't look like Todoroki has a way out. He has to fight now." Rikido said.
Both All Might and Ochako were very grateful one of them changed the subject. The symbol of peace turned around and looked directly at the yellow suited student, more than ready to steer the conversation a new way.
"Not true. Sometimes admitting when you are beaten is the way you have to take to survive. Just because you lose one day doesn't mean you cannot win another. Retreating is still an acceptable action to take whether you are a hero or a villain. Escape so you can fight later. Since this is a training exercise, surrendering is a perfectly acceptable thing to do and counts as an automatic capture."
Taking this new info to heart, the kids all redirected their gazes back to the screens and wondered what course of action Shoto would take. Would he admit defeat, or would he stand and throw more ice? Apparently there was a third available, one that made Ochako and All Might both pale once more.
"Whoa is he really gonna use that thing?" Hanta wondered.
His answer came a moment later when the lightsaber activated and a blue blade ripped out of it. Camilla then took her own back into her hand and turned it on as well as she crouched down into a ready stance. Tenya perked his head up a little more upon recognizing it, even from a rear view.
"Her stance. It's the exact one Uraraka used against me. Did you two learn swordsmanship together?"
She figured she could at least answer Tenya's question here.
"Yes and no. She actually was the one who taught me."
Tenya and the rest of the class processed that for a bit before he spoke again.
"Well, let's hope her skills are enough to match against Todoroki here. Now that he can use one of her swords against her along with his ice, it may make things harder for her."
Ochako merely shook her head, disagreeing completely.
"Iida, if that's the way he wants to go, then All Might should just call this battle in favor of the villains already. Todoroki isn't gonna win that way."
She was serious about that. What she didn't know was All Might was actually considering that. Seeing Shoto hold that lightsaber did not sit well with him. He knew exactly just how deadly that thing could be in the hands of an experienced user like Camilla. Putting it in the hands of someone who didn't have a clue how to use it could spell an even worse disaster. He did not want his first day teaching a class to end with one of his kids losing a limb or their own head. And that went double for Shoto Todoroki. All Might could only wince at the tongue lashing he would get from Endeavor for letting something so bad happen to his son under his watch.
First it was Shoto trying to go on the offensive but Camilla easily blocked every slash of the blue sword with her green one. Ochako was watching intently. She had learned from Camilla but she had never truly seen the girl use her lightsabers in combat before. Watching her move, even though her opponent looked inexperienced, was still a good way to learn. Her footwork was great even though she was on ice. The way she moved her lightsaber was so fluid and swift. Shoto on the other hand was not. He could stand on the ice just fine but it looked like wielding that sword was taking a lot more effort than it should have. Camilla made it look like those lightsabers were as light as feathers. So why did it seem like Shoto was holding a twenty pound weight?
Easily Camilla was able to turn the duel in her favor and began to push Shoto back with powerful swings of her own to knock him back. He tried again, and he was able to get in a good punch to the blind girl's stomach, but she returned the favor with a sock to his jaw that Ochako may have cheered a bit too loudly for. Finally Mashirao and Toru entered the scene together with the former using his tail to make Shoto lose his grip on the lightsaber. Then Toru made the final move by using her hidden capture tape to wrap around Shoto's wrist. Just like that, it was over.
"Where was she hiding that tape?" Minoru asked as his face turned red. "Ooooohhhh do you think it's possible she had it hidden up her-?"
An ear jack courtesy of Kyoka jammed into his head and made him convulse before he could finish his thought.
"Thoughts like that won't do you favors here." She warned.
"Shoto Todoroki has been captured! With both heroes eliminated, the villain team wins!"
Katsuki felt sick to his stomach. From the moment this battle started, he observed Shoto's ice power with a sense he was not used to feeling; dread. Powerful as he knew he was, cold was not very compatible with his quirk. Had he been stuck fighting him, he would have lost a lot faster than he did against Deku. He hated to admit that, even to himself, but he knew it was true. The only solace he silver lining that he could see at the beginning was that Camilla would probably get humiliated. That hope vanished very quickly though once he saw how easily she escaped. Those glow sticks or lightsabers or whatever the hell they're called, they were strong. He could tell that much easily. He could still remember that day a year ago when he first met her and she drove one of them down into the cement with ease. But it didn't stop there. Oh no. It wasn't just those swords that were formidable, it was Camilla herself too. A freaking blind girl was countering near every attack this ice guy could throw at her completely on her own. She didn't even need her teammates in the end but they still showed up to help anyway. And because of that, they won. Going up against Shoto would have been disastrous. Katsuki knew that from watching the entire building freeze. But now he also had to face a new horrible truth. Had he gone up against Camilla too, the girl who beat Shoto, he probably wouldn't have had a chance. He would have gotten humiliated even more. His world felt like it was falling down around him.
For probably the first time in his life, Katsuki Bakugo was actually starting to feel like he wasn't the best here. The mere thought was so harsh, he barely noticed the room he was currently standing in thawing out due to the other side of Shoto's quirk.
As the ice melted, Tusyu took off the weighted blanket from her shoulders and set it down as she began to feel like she could move properly again. The kids still up on the fourth floor were seen making their way back down to the ground floor.
"Hey what's that on Sharro's back?"
Everyone heard Mina's question and looked to the screen for the answer. As she and the others walked by one of the cameras, images of the back of her tunic were clearly seen and Ochako smiled wide as a familiar symbol with wings could be seen emblazoned on her hero suit like a number on a sports jersey. Izuku was the one to assist her with the design of her costume. He must have added that on without her knowing to pay homage to the Jedi Order. Camilla herself probably hadn't noticed it was there yet. Ochako wanted to tell her but at the same time she didn't. She thought it would be a little funnier if she watched how long it would take for her to catch on.
A matter of minutes later, Shoto along with the victorious villain team re-entered the surveillance room and Mezo took his teammate's side.
"Alrighty then! I think it's safe to say the title of MVP for this fight goes to young Sharro! Anyone care to guess why?"
There were a pretty good number of reasons most people could think of. Momo once again, was the one who raised her hand first and All Might urged her to go on.
"Yes sir. Todoroki had a good plan with trying to freeze the villain team in place to secure an easy win. But he unfortunately didn't think past what would happen if they were able to break free. Sharro took charge of the situation and came up with a plan to divide and conquer that would best work in their favor. Save for the holes carved in the floor, she managed to keep damage to the base as minimal as possible. The only thing I don't know is where she hid the bomb."
Camilla turned her head to Momo to answer.
"Hm? Oh right. I took it to the roof. There was some old hollowed out tower just standing there so I opened up the top with my sabers and slipped the bomb inside there."
Everyone just stood there as they listened. All Might included. There were no cameras that showed the feed of the roof because they were all expecting everything to be kept inside. Apparently Camilla thought a bit beyond that.
"She hid the bomb inside the water tower?! Is that even allowed?!" Denki whined.
"The roof is still part of our base. And the tower was right there and empty so it seemed like the perfect hiding spot."
A few students now felt a little frustrated that their idea for hiding the bomb if they were a villain team was now ruined. The roof was apparently not as unexpected as they thought.
"Thinking outside the box! Literally! Ahahahaha! A well thought out strategy indeed, young Sharro! Young Todoroki, do you agree with young Yaoyorozu?"
Shoto only turned his head a little bit in All Might's direction as he answered.
"I completely misjudged how I thought the fight would go. I thought Sharro would keep her distance because her power is mainly telekinetic. I had no idea she was good in close quarters too with those swords. I underestimated her and that cost me the fight."
All Might nodded, happy at least that this boy could recognize his faults.
"That's correct! But don't let it discourage you! All five of you performed this fight admirably!"
If only all of them truly believed that.
"All Might, I don't feel I really won."
Camilla spoke up again and now she could feel everyone's confusion.
"What do you mean? Camilla, you killed it!" Toru sniffled through the cloak she was still wearing.
"Yeah without you we would've been sunk." Mashirao agreed.
"What would make you say that, young Sharro? You and your team worked well together to win the exercise."
"Yeah I agree with you. Once we got past the issue of my eyes, communication and coordination between the three of us was easy. The problem was with my opponent."
Shoto raised his eyebrows as Camilla turned her own gaze to the half frozen boy.
"Why did you hold yourself back?"
The whole class shivered as another chill washed over them. All Might had an eyebrow raised as he was asking that question internally.
"What are you talking about?" Shoto sounded close to growling.
It didn't deter Camilla.
"There's more to your power than just ice, isn't there? You used the other side of your body to heat up and melt the ice after we were done in that building. Would I be correct when I say that your left side is capable of making fire?"
That only seemed to make Shoto angrier.
"So what if it can?"
"Why didn't you use it?"
"I just don't! It's none of your business!"
"Shoto, you kept throwing wave after wave of ice at me in our fight. All you used was your ice and not a spark of your fire. You literally just did the same thing over and over again while expecting a different result every time. Forgive me but isn't that the very definition of insanity?
She could sense his anger rising but it still did nothing to stop Camilla from talking.
"Once you saw your ice wasn't a viable strategy, you should have switched things up. You didn't lose because you underestimated us. You lost because you were never taking this fight as seriously as you should have in the first place. You probably could've won if you had used your-"
"I NEVER USE MY LEFT SIDE!"
The increase of volume did make Camilla stop but she was not very happy about being interrupted like that. This guy clearly had some issues with his other half but why? Was it because of what she was feeling from him earlier? All that anger and needing to prove something? Right now it was all just a jumbled mess of pieces that didn't really seem to fit together at all. Sure there was plenty of rage but now there was a heavy weight of shame.
All Might stayed in place, thankful it didn't look like he would have to step in. But at the same time he wasn't exactly sure how to go about this. Day one as a teacher and he already got so much more than what Nezu had told him to expect. First his eyes landed on Camilla who seemed to be aiming her own glare right back at Shoto's to match his.
'That's right. She knows more than anyone how crucial it is to go into a battle with every intention to give it your all. Holding back, even for a second, can be the difference between life and death.'
Then his sight traveled a bit to the left and found Shoto.
'He's a bit arrogant. Not as much as young Bakugo by any means, but definitely enough to think that constantly limiting himself is the way to go about a fight. I don't know what the reason is for doing so but I shouldn't try to step in where I don't belong. I may be familiar with his father but that isn't enough here.
Finally he stepped in between the two teams and the rest of the class.
"Alright that's enough for now. Yaoyorozu, you had some good points yet again." He then looked down to Shoto again. "Now, young Todoroki. I'm not going to press any further into the reason you won't use your other side. If it's for personal reasons then I will not pry. But I am going to impart this lesson to you as your teacher. What young Sharro says is absolutely correct. Purposefully restraining your power is not going to get you far as a pro hero, should you become one. Even if it is strong, half of your power is still just that; half your power."
The scowl on the young boy remained there as All Might tried to get him to see reason. It sounded like comforting advice coming from the number one hero, but Shoto just couldn't see it as such. His ice was powerful, but not even it could snuff out the raging hatred he bore for the man who gave him what lay dormant in his left side.
'I will never give that bastard the satisfaction of seeing his quirk used by me.'
"Now then, let's continue on! Next battle! Here we go!"
From there, the battle trials continued. When compared to the first two fights, they were all a lot less eventful and flashy. A few decent moves and quite a few interesting strategies, but Katsuki's and Izuku's match, as well as Shoto's and Camilla's, made one hell of a first impression on the class. The only thing All Might really had to make a serious note out of was the behavior of that Minoru Mineta boy. He didn't like the way the kid was ogling his partner's backside rather than be helpful. Even Camilla voiced some disgust in sensing the boy's feelings at that moment. The rest of the girls present couldn't help but feel pity for both her and Momo at that. Sure none of them liked being looked at like that, but they didn't want to know what that little pervert had going on in his head at all.
Finally the class reached its end and All Might gave them one last pep talk before heading off to Recovery Girl's office to go check on Izuku. From there, the boys and girls separated to go change back into their school uniforms. Nearly the whole way, Camilla was being asked question after question about her power save for Ochako. It made sense now that she had been seen in action, people would want answers. And boy did they want answers. Mostly it was just Mina and Toru who wanted the most answers. The more Camilla waved them off, the more it seemed to make the other girls. They didn't want to pry, but the more this girl refused to answer even once made them wonder what it was she was guarding so closely. Not even Ochako could get them to change the subject.
When they got back to the classroom it only got worse. It wasn't just the girls. A good number of the boys also wanted to know just what was up with her "quirk". Mirko had been the one to come up with a cover story should she find herself here, but she did not want to use it. It wasn't just because it was blatant lying. There was also the fact that the lie itself was an absolutely horrible one. Not horrible as in, "No one would ever buy it." Horrible in the sense, "This can only be described as morally pitch black." Still…out of the two options she had, she had to use it to get these guys off her back. They were nowhere near ready to know the full truth about her yet. So she relented, sat down, and told a story. One that she regretted telling the moment she started it.
"What do you know about quirk marriages?"
A/N
So yeah. Here we are. I tried my damndest to think how this whole fight would go differently if a Jedi was thrown into the mix. And this was the best I could come up with. Do you like it? Do you not? Let me know in the comments/reviews and I will do my best to ensure the adventures continue soon.
Right. Ko-fi. I set up one of those. Normally I wouldn't think of it but I've kinda hit my limit. So the link is over on AO3 for anyone who wants to donate to me. If you do, great. If you don't well that's just fine too! I'm happy you at least like the fic and are reading it!
Also this fic has a TVtropes page now. Has for a couple months. Don't know how THAT happened but the link is again over on AO3! No new artwork this time, I'm not made of money. XD.
Anywho, I'll see you next time (whenever that may be). Stay safe!
