The sudden appearance of Torpedo Azul was a great surprise to Ladybug, Cat Noir and Shadow Moth.
"Torpedo… Azul?" Ladybug asked.
"Cetus asked me to come" Torpedo Azul replied. "I hope I'm not too late."
"No, you're not…" Ladybug replied, recovering from the surprise of seeing a new ally coming from nowhere. "Thank you for saving me."
"You're welcome" Torpedo Azul answered. "I mean, you also saved me, right?"
When he said that, and looking to his eyes, Ladybug was able to figure out who he was.
"Martim?" she asked.
Torpedo Azul didn't say anything, but his smile just confirmed her theory.
Noticing the new superhero, Shadow Moth wondered where he could have come. But then he remembered what Cetus had said when he was close to take his Miraculous.
"I see… that's what he meant… Even if I took his Miraculous, there would be others to take his place, possibly with even more powerful Miraculous… But sending another child to fight me? Either he has me under so little regard, or maybe…"
Just like Ladybug, Shadow Moth eventually was able to figure out who Torpedo Azul was.
Cat Noir was able to get to their side and said:
"I didn't know we had a shark friend."
"Cat Noir, this is Torpedo Azul…" Ladybug introduced. "A friend of ours that Cetus had sent…"
After noticing Ladybug's signs, Cat Noir was able to realize who he was.
"Oh, right…" he said, while winking his eye.
"You don't have to hide his identity from me" Shadow Moth told them, from over his sentimonster. "I'm not that blind to realize who he is. But if you think an extra help will make the difference, you're wrong about it. No one can defeat Mega-Kraken… especially a kid with some serious anger and daddy issues."
Those insults caused Torpedo Azul to grunt, while closing his fist tightly. Noticing that, Ladybug told him:
"Don't listen to him. You can do this."
"Yeah, whatever that moth says is not worthy of being heard" Cat Noir added. "Just do what you have to and everything will come as natural as catwalking to a cat."
Those words of incentive helped Torpedo Azul to remain calm, as he took a deep breath. But Shadow Moth just laughed and then told:
"You can say whatever you want, but the truth is nothing will save you! Mega-Kraken, you know what to do!"
And sMega-Kraken resumed its continuous attacks, this time having three moving targets. Torpedo Azul's presence made the fight much easier, especially because he could move more freely because of his ability to skate on the wet pavement. But even so, it was still hard to fight a sentimonster that was able to defend any direct attack.
It was then that Torpedo Azul, finding a good chance to try an attack directly to Shadow Moth, jumped onto one of Mega-Kraken's tentacles and started to run on it, holding his dagger, towards the head of the sentimonster.
"Wow, are you seeing that, milady?" Cat Noir said. "Looks like our new super friend is more daring than me."
"Yeah, and more reckless…" Ladybug commented. "Torpedo, don't do that! The armor can…"
But when he jumped high so he could attack Shadow Moth directly, Mega-Kraken activated his armor's power, causing Torpedo Azul's dagger to be pulled, by his surprise, towards the armor. The dagger hit the armor, but before it could repel Torpedo Azul, Mega-Kraken hit him with one of his tentacles with a boxing glove, throwing him hard against the floor at some distance. Ladybug and Cat Noir went to him and the former asked, while extending her hand to him:
"Are you okay, Torpedo?"
"I think so…" he said, taking Ladybug's hand.
They then heard Shadow Moth's laugh, as he went to say:
"How pathetic… So that's what this new superhero can do? He was so easy to beat down. I can't believe he was even entrusted with a Miraculous."
The villain's mocking words were like hard blows to Torpedo's pride, causing his anger to start boiling. But he was able to contain that anger by closing his hand on his dagger's handle very tightly.
"But more pathetic is the one that ever thought was a good idea to give you a Miraculous" Shadow Moth continued. "Your father may have himself look like a terrifying adversary, but he is the biggest fool to ever entrust a Miraculous to such impulsive child."
Ladybug was able to notice that Torpedo Azul was letting himself be affected by Shadow Moth's words, especially regarding his father. She remembered what he had told her about being unable to contain himself when the ones he loves are in danger or insulted, and so she told him:
"Don't listen to him, that's what he wants: for you to react."
But Shadow Moth didn't stop with his insults:
"Such a disappointment that you are… But then what can you expect from the son of an excuse for a hero that was so easy to trick? So much to be a fierce protector…"
And he started to laugh mockingly, with Torpedo Azul no longer able to contain his anger.
"Hey, what if you closed that mouth of yours, grandpa?" Cat Noir asked. "No one asked for your opinion!"
"He doesn't need to shut up…" Torpedo Azul replied, while advancing. "Because, I'm going to be the one to do it!"
"Torpedo, wait…" Ladybug started.
"Relentlessness!" Torpedo Azul shouted.
As soon he called upon his power, Torpedo Azul was surrounded by an intense aquatic aura. After that, he gave a strong stomp onto the ground and, with it, he rose up into the air like a missile. Both Ladybug and Cat Noir, despite worried about that rushed attack of Torpedo Azul, couldn't help but admire his power.
Torpedo Azul started to fly around Mega-Kraken, as he felt it was hard to steer his attack. Noticing the shark superhero's lack of control over his power, Shadow Moth saw that as a chance for him to capture him.
"Catch him, Mega-Kraken!" he ordered.
The sentimonster extended his tentacle towards Torpedo Azul, but as soon it touched the aquatic aura, a big pain went over it, causing Mega-Kraken to release a big moan of pain. Not just that, but Shadow Moth's fan started to shook unexpectedly, as electricity came out of it, giving the villain a slight shock. Ladybug was able to observe that moment…
"Did you see that, Bugaboo?" Cat Noir asked. "Looks like Torpedo is actually doing it…"
"Yeah, I guess…" Ladybug said, still observing Shadow Moth.
"What's this?!" Shadow Moth exclaimed, doing his best to not drop the fan until it all stopped. "It's almost like… he absorbed my sentimonster's energy… even affecting the amok… If he hits me, then…"
It was then that Shadow Moth, having been distracted with his fan, didn't notice that Torpedo was about to come to him.
"No…" he said. "Mega-Kraken, activate your armor, quickly!"
Despite still recovering from the pain he had suffered when it touched Torpedo Azul's aquatic aura, Mega-Kraken obeyed Shadow Moth's order and caused his armor to glow. When Torpedo Azul thought that he would be able to lend a blow on Shadow Moth, he was caught by surprise when he found himself being pulled again by the armor.
"What…" he said.
"He's going to hit the armor" Cat Noir said. "I have to help him! If I can just give him a pull, he may be able to finish his attack on Shadow Moth!"
And he started to run and getting his staff ready.
"Cat Noir, wait!" Ladybug called, feeling that was not a good idea.
Before Torpedo Azul could touch the armor, Mega-Kraken hit him hard with one of his tentacles with boxing gloves, even if that caused pain to it and, through its amok, to Shadow Moth. The shark superhero was then casted with great strength, passing by Cat Noir and towards Ladybug.
"Ladybug, watch out!" Cat Noir called.
But Torpedo Azul had been punched with so much strength that Ladybug was not quick enough to evade him. When Torpedo Azul collided with her, Ladybug felt the same shocking pain Shadow Moth felt, but to a bigger scale, as if something with a very rough surface had just scraped against her.
The aquatic aura disappeared as Torpedo Azul started to get up. Seeing Ladybug, he rushed to say, worried:
"Ladybug, are you okay?!"
"I think so…" she replied, as Torpedo Azul helped her getting up.
"I'm so sorry, I…" Torpedo Azul said, feeling guilty.
"It's okay, Torpedo" Ladybug said, as she put her hand on his shoulder. "It was an accident."
Cat Noir arrived to their reach and asked:
"Are you two okay?"
"Yes, kitty, just a little sour…" Ladybug replied.
At that moment, sounding beeps were heard. One came from Torpedo Azul's medallion (what was normal, since he had just used his power), but the heroes got surprised when Ladybug's earrings were starting to lose their energy as well.
"Ladybug, did you use your power already?" Cat Noir asked.
"No, I didn't" she replied. "I don't understand…"
"It's because of me" Torpedo Azul replied. "My power allows me to drain the energy of my targets. When I hit you, most of your power was drained. That's why your Miraculous is losing energy, despite you never activated your power. And it's all because of me… if I have never rushed to attack Shadow Moth…"
"Everyone makes mistakes, but that shouldn't prevent you from keep fighting" Ladybug replied. "Trust me, I know… But now I have to go feed my kwami."
"And I will cover for you, milady" Cat Noir replied, while making a bow. "Your favorite cat is always here to protect him."
"Wait… I know how I can fix this" Torpedo Azul told, as he took his dagger, whose stone at the handle was glowing. "The energy my power drains is stored inside the stone of my dagger. That way, I can use it to recharge my Miraculous without detransforming… or transfer it another."
"Wow… that's… a cutting-edge power…" Cat Noir commented.
"All you need to do is touch on the stone" Torpedo Azul replied, holding the blade of his dagger and extending the handle to Ladybug.
Seeing that, Shadow Moth said:
"So that's how that Miraculous works… With a power like that, my akumas would be even stronger… But I cannot allow him to recharge Ladybug's Miraculous. Mega-Kraken, attack them!"
But Mega-Kraken acted strange, as if it was trying to resist Shadow Moth's order. Being hit, even if slightly, by Torpedo Azul's Relentlessness had caused the villain's control over the sentimonster to get diminished.
"What are you doing, stupid creature?!" Shadow Moth shouted. "I created you! I have your amok! You will obey me and attack those heroes… now!"
Getting a tighter hold on Mega-Kraken's amok, Shadow Moth was able to finally regain full control over the sentimonster, which then proceeded to prepared one of his gloved tentacles to attack.
"Milady, you better hurry up in regaining your power" Cat Noir told, as he saw Mega-Kraken ready for a new attack.
Ladybug was about to touch the stone when Mega-Kraken launched his attack.
"Cataclysm!" Cat Noir shouted, as he extended his hand forward.
Seeing Cat Noir with his Cataclysm activated, right on the way of Mega-Kraken's attack, Shadow Moth reacted quickly.
"Mega-Kraken, stop!" he ordered.
The sentimonster was able to stop the attack, a few distance away of the Cataclysm.
"You filthy cat…" Shadow Moth grunted, angrily.
"Thank you, Cat Noir" Ladybug thanked.
"Everything for you, Bugaboo" he replied. "Now, why don't you call your Lucky Charm so we can end this? I don't think Shadow Moth will take too long to try to find a way to pass through."
She nodded and so she touched the stone at the handle of Torpedo Azul's dagger. Once she did it, she felt a reinvigorating feeling invading her. Her Miraculous glowed for a moment and after that, Ladybug could feel it was fully charged again. Not wasting any more time, she went to activate her power:
"Lucky Charm!"
She changed into her upgrade costume, as her yoyo released a spiraling energy that, once converged, created the Lucky Charm: a red feature phone with black spots. When she caught it, she asked:
"A phone?"
"You need to call someone for help?" Torpedo Azul asked. "Because we kind of need it right now."
Looking at the phone, Ladybug noticed that it was just like the one she got for the kwamis. At that moment, she came to realize what it meant. But she needed to find out how she could apply it. Looking around, her look went to Shadow Moth's fan, Cat Noir's ring and then to Torpedo Azul, with her then remembering of Pegafox Furtive. With her plan coming together, she needed to act now.
"Cat Noir, can you cover for us?"
"You know the answer, milady" Cat Noir replied. "But I would hurry and go, before Shadow Moth dares to risk his sentimonster to get hit by a Cataclysm… or my mine time runs out."
Turning to Torpedo Azul, she told him:
"Come with me."
He nodded and, as Ladybug put her arm around Torpedo Azul and prepared her yoyo, she said to Cat Noir:
"We come back in a moment, kitty."
Seeing Ladybug and Torpedo Azul getting ready to go away, Shadow Moth realized they were plotting something.
"I can't let them go…" he said, looking to the trident. "I have to use the trident… despite the danger of overusing it."
Focusing the power of the trident, Shadow Moth rose up the trident to summon lightning from the clouds. He then pointed at the heroes, causing a thunder to come down. Fortunately, Ladybug was fast enough to take off with Torpedo Azul, before the lightning could hit them.
"Ah! You failed, grandpa!" Cat Noir mocked.
But then more lightning came down, this time trying to hit Cat Noir.
"Okay… I get it… You're touchy about your age…" he replied, while avoiding the lightning.
"When I am done with you, your Miraculous will be mine and then I just have to get the other two's" Shadow Moth replied, while conducting the lightning.
At that moment, he felt the trident starting to shake. Shadow Moth realized that he was overdoing it and would lose the control of it, if he didn't stop. Despite wanting to keep using it to attack Cat Noir, he couldn't lose control of the storm over Lisbon.
"Mega-Kraken, hitting Cat Noir directly may be risky, but you can still use other ways to do it!" he exclaimed to his sentimonster.
Mega-Kraken then went to take a part of the pillar that sustained the statue of D. José I and started to use it to try to hit Cat Noir.
"Hey, do I look like a mole to you?" he asked, while dodging. "Milady, I hope you don't take too long."
Ladybug brought herself and Torpedo Azul to a nearby deserted alley.
"Detransform now" she told him.
Torpedo Azul nodded and then said:
"Chompp, subside."
He detransform, with Chompp getting out of his Miraculous and landing on Martim's hand on his belly, looking exhausted.
"I'm so hungry…" he said.
"Sorry, companheiro" Martim said. "I made you waste your energy for nothing…"
"That's okay…" Ladybug said, while opening her yoyo and taking a macaron. "Nothing that a little bit of food won't do. I need your power once more, Martim. It's essential for my plan."
"Maybe you should ask my dad for that, Ladybug" Martim said, saddened. "I would just mess up your plan."
"Don't say that" Ladybug replied, with an encouraging smile. "Of course you can do this."
"Didn't you see what happened back there?!" Martim asked. "I ruined everything! I rushed into a blind attack and not only I missed the target, but I also hit one of my teammates! Maybe I shouldn't have decided to come help you and Cat Noir…"
He went to grab his medallion, but Ladybug secured his hand and said:
"Anger can be destructive when out of control, but it is part of human nature for a reason. If you learn how to focus and control your anger, you will have the boost of power you need to keep going and to be strong enough to protect what you hold dear."
"I don't know if I can do that…" Martim said.
"But I know you can" Ladybug said. "All that anger you feel comes from your desire to protect the ones you love. Not to mention that I've seen how you were able to free yourself from Shadow Moth's akumatization. Only someone with an incredible strong will can do something like that."
"My father used his power on me to calm me down first…" Martim replied.
"Don't underestimate yourself" Ladybug said. "That's something I have learned from experience. You know, I also messed up on my first mission. I turned a big problem into a much bigger one and thought that I would never be a good superhero. But when I saw the ones I love in danger, I realized I couldn't let my insecurities prevent me from saving them. What about you? Will you dare to do the same?"
Martim accepted Ladybug's macaron, as he thought on her words. He really wanted to save the city he so loved, along with his family, friends and all the others. But the fear of losing control of his anger was very big.
It was then that he noticed the macaron that Ladybug had just gave him, seeing the logo of Marinette and her family's bakery. That caused him to look to Ladybug, who was giving him her determined look to inspire him. But that look of her was familiar to Martim. Could it be that Ladybug was…?
"So… what will be?" Ladybug asked.
Despite all that doubts he had, Martim could feel his determination being revived and then replied with a smile:
"I'll keep on fighting!"
Ladybug nodded, happy to finally see Martim overcoming his insecurity. He extended the macaron to Chompp who sniffed it before taking it and eating with just one bite. After eating it, the kwami quickly regained his energy and took flight.
"I'm ready!" he said to his owner.
"Me too" Martim replied. "Chompp, straight forward!"
He transformed and, after that, Ladybug said:
"Okay, my plan needs another player besides us and Cat Noir, but you have to promise me you won't tell anything about her… not even Cat Noir."
"Of course" Torpedo Azul promised.
Ladybug then proceeded to contact Pegafox Furtive:
"Pegafox, where are you? Okay, stay there. I'm coming to you. It's time to put an end to Shadow Moth's reign of terror in Lisbon."
