Day 19- Rex holding Sunflowers
Rex hadn't meant to sleep late. Really, sleeping in was the last thing he wanted to do. But they'd just come back to Coruscant the night before and he was exhausted, so he wasn't particularly surprised that he'd overslept. He was perturbed though because he needed to get his report done.
But first things first, Rex needed to eat breakfast.
He opened the door from his room and, to his surprise, found a bunch of flowers laying at his feet. He blinked a couple of times, staring blankly at them, trying to process how in the world they were there.
He bent down to pick them up.
They were real flowers.
He sniffed them.
They didn't smell bad either. But who would have brought him flowers?
Rex moved the flowers around a bit, looking in the bunch, making sure there was nothing remotely suspicious hiding in them. The only thing he found was a note. An actual paper, handwritten note.
His name was across the front. It looked as though it had been written by one of the men. He opened it up to see the inside.
Hey Rex,
You seemed really tired and looked like you needed a hug last night. Or something. But a hug seemed too mainstream and I can give you one anytime (and I do anyway so it's not super special, just a little special). So, I decided that a gift of some sort would be better. Flowers are nice and I doubt you've every had flowers. You might not have a place to keep them, but I'm sure you'll figure it out. Enjoy them all the same!
Warm regards, a friend
Well, it certainly didn't sound like it had been written by one of the boys, even if it looked like it.
Really, Rex's bet was on Ahsoka. No one else would have been able to get him flowers except the General, and Rex doubted it was him.
He smiled and shook his head. It was a nice gift, and a pleasant surprise. He would figure out a place to keep them in his room. He would also have to write a thank you note.
He frowned. But he probably shouldn't give it to the Commander directly. Fives probably knew who it was though. He could give the note to Fives, and Fives could give it to the "anonymous" giver.
Rex smiled. Things didn't need to be a secret to be sweet. And everyone could know without anything being said. Friendships were good like that, close ones with meaning.
