Day 22- Fox + Cody (and other commanders)
It had been a while since any of the CCs had gathered together for drinks to hangout. They were all excited to see each other, but the last thing they expected was to see Fox join them, much less with Cody.
But sure enough, the two of them walked in together, as casually as if they'd been doing so for years.
Wolffe was unfazed by their appearance together, and Bly wasn't as shocked, as he'd heard rumors of their reformed relationship. But the others all stared, dumbfounded, as Cody and Fox entered.
Wolffe smiled. "I'm glad you two decided to find time to join us. It's good to see you out of the office." He wanted to break the tension, relax the atmosphere. The others would figure it out.
Cody shrugged. "It's good to get out. Especially when I haven't seen some of you in a while." He wrapped an arm around Fox. "And I'm sure it's been even longer for you Fox."
"Yeah…" Fox half-smiled. He was slightly comfortable and not sure if he remembered everyone. As the day went on, he was sure he would, but at the moment names were failing him.
"It is good to see you, Fox," Bly added quickly. "And I'm sure you'll be glad you joined us. This is the most we've had in a while."
Fox's smile widened and he relaxed more. It was good to know he wasn't being shunned.
"Pull up a chair," Gree gestured. "And someone pour the drinks already. I came here for a reason."
The others laughed and there was overall agreement.
Fox was stiff when he first sat down, and hesitant to begin drinking when Cody handed him a glass. But as the atmosphere loosened up, and when he fully realized they were willing to allow him into the conversation, he relaxed.
By the end of it, Fox was laughing and smiling, more genuinely than he had in years.
Cody looked over at his brother and smirked. "Told you you'd enjoy it," he smirked.
Fox shook his head and chuckled. "Yeah, you were right," he sighed.
"Course I was. 'cause I'm a commander, and we're always right." He raised his glass and winked.
