It was currently English Class as Elisabeth was teaching everyone about Romeo and Juliet.
"...and at the end of the play, Juliet drinks a potion which makes her appear to be dead. Romeo, thinking he's lost his young bride, poisons himself. And when Juliet wakes up and sees the lifeless Romeo, she drives a dagger through her heart." Elisabeth said as tears poured down Sissi's cheeks.
"That's… That's so beautiful." Sissi said.
"That is so idiotic." Odd said as the bell rang.
"Don't forget to review the balcony scene for next week. See you on Monday." Elisabeth said to the students before nodding her head to the group with a soft smile.
"I don't get it, Odd. What didn't you like about that?" Setsuna asked.
"It's a wonderful story, isn't it?" Aelita added.
"That's just it, Aelita, it's a story." Odd said. "Killing yourself for love, that's dumb."
"You're just thinking that because you haven't met a girl that loves you enough to die for you." Shuichi said.
"Listen, if you ask me, nobody would die for love." Odd said. "Would you be ready to die for Kaede, Shuichi?"
"As if you needed to ask." Shuichi said with a light blush.
"Hi, what are you guys talking about?" Yumi asked, approaching with the older school group behind her.
"Erm… N-nothing important." Shuichi said.
"Hey, Aelita, I think I figured out a way for improving source logarithms and…I could use your help." Jeremie said.
"That sounds great. But first, let's have lunch." Aelita said as she ran for the cafeteria with Jeremie following behind.
"With all that's been happening, it's good to know they have each other to keep their spirits up." Simon said.
"Do you think Aelita and Jeremy would be ready to die for each other?" Ulrich asked.
"For love, I don't know. They might die of boredom though." Odd said.
They started to hear some chatter.
"Hm? What's all the commotion?" David asked.
The group approached the crowd as they saw a lot of the male students asking a blonde-haired girl questions.
"Oh brother." Saki said before turning to Tamiya and Milly. "Who's the girl?"
"Sissi's overseas pen pal. She's visiting for four days. Her name is Brynja Erad…Erud… Whatever!" Milly said.
"Brynja Erinsdottir. And she's from Iceland." Tamiya said.
"And Sissi's just eating it up! Thanks to Brynja, she's getting lots of attention." Milly added.
"Yeah, only this time, the boys aren't interested in her." Kokoro said.
"Except for a few." Simon said.
"Okay, the show's over. I'll take Brynja to her room." Sissi said as she and Brynja entered the dorm as the students dispersed.
Sachiko clapped her hands. "Alright, boys. Time to wake up."
"I'm awake." Odd said.
"What'd you say?" Ulrich asked.
"Who, what, where?" Eddy added.
Later in the Dining Hall…
"Are you saying then that your program lets you modify gamma waves?" Aelita asked.
"Yeah, that's right! Which means we can have a much faster virtualization and more… Wow…" Jeremie trailed off as he and the group saw Sissi and Brynja enter along with the male students pulling out a chair for Brynga and bringing her tray to her as Jeremie, Odd, Ulrich, and some of the male members were smitten.
"I honestly don't know what the boys see in her." Sachiko said.
"Oh, if you think the boys have it bad, the girls are chasing her around to know her beauty secrets." Tsumugi said.
"Though it looks like Sissi's losing her people." Simon said, unfazed by Brynja's beauty. "Even her followers Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb." he said, referring to Herb and Nicholas.
It was later after lunch that the group gathered in the rec room as Odd talked on and on about how beautiful Brynja was.
"I tell you, she's something else! She's gorgeous and slim and her hair's like gold. And did you see those deep, clear green eyes? Absolutely incredible!" Odd said.
"Oh give me a break. You talk about her as if she is the eighth wonder of the world." David said, playing a match of Tekken 5 against Mayumi, David being Lei and Mayumi being Asuka, as Mayumi dealt the finishing blow, winning the match.
"Yeah, you don't see us fawning over her." Simon added, playing Soulcalibur 2 as Link against Tsumugi who played as Cassandra as it ended in a draw.
"Those are the perfect words I was looking for. She's the eighth wonder of the world." Odd said.
"Odd, you ever wonder if you're dealing with an… Uh, what are the words I am looking for?" David asked.
"A fried brain." Sonata said.
"Yeah, that." David said.
"Aw…it's okay, David. I know you and the guys are jealous cause I caught Brynja's eye first." Odd said.
"Jealous? Ha! You can have her. There's only one girl for me, and she ain't it." David said.
"And I already have a boyfriend." Simon added.
"Well…I won't be staying where I'm not wanted." Odd said as he walked out.
"Oh that block headed…" Sonata said as she snapped a book in half in anger.
"Easy…remember, you two aren't an item in this time." Sunset said.
"Just remember, you're the one who wins in the end." Frisk added.
"Yeah…after I tear out that girl's hair." Sonata said as the girls held her back.
"No no! She's not worth it. Not worth it." Adora said.
"Jeez, what is up with this Brynja? She's bringing out the worst in everyone in school." David said.
"Worst part is I'm not sure if she's doing it on purpose or not." Mark said. "I get the feeling that she's going to cause a lot more problems before she leaves, especially concerning Odd. We need to nip this in the bud."
A few nights later, they held an intervention.
"Uh… Did I miss a chapter?" Odd asked.
"Not quite." Mark said. "We need to talk about you and Brynja."
"Ever since she showed up, there has definitely been some friction. And it is really debilitating to our task." David said.
"You know how important our mission is, right Odd?" Mark asked. "That has to come first. If anything gets in the way of that, then…well…we have to do something about it."
"Yeah. So…we're saying this in the nicest way possible." Luz said. "Pull the bandage and break up with her."
"Aw…you're blaming my relationship because you guys are jealous?" Odd said.
"Jealous?" Mark asked. "Please. Look, if we didn't think this is a problem, we'd be happy for you, really. But this is a precarious situation we're in. We can't have you absent for a XANA attack because you're off with her. That's a problem."
"Maybe for you, but not for me." Odd responded. "You're all fixated on her or me being the problem, but it's not her fault you can't get along with her! Maybe you're the ones with the problem, ever thought of that? Now if you'll excuse me, I have a date with 'your little problem.'" Odd said as he walked out on them.
"Ugh, he's as stubborn as Bolo." Shantae said.
"I'm starting to agree with Sonata's idea." Mark growled before he let out a sigh. "Well, she isn't going to be here forever. If Odd isn't budging, guess we'll have to bear with it for now."
"What if Odd does something to compromise us involving her?" Double D asked.
"C'mon, Odd's not that dumb." Eddy answered.
"Say that after all the times he's done something since we've been here." Saki said.
"I mean… What's he gonna do? Show off and show her the Supercomputer?" Theo asked.
However, the next day, a number of alarms kept going off.
"Activated towers…but…not activated. So many false alarms." Hermit said.
"Okay… Maybe Odd really is that dumb." David said on the comm.
"Brynja has been messing around with the Supercomputer. There are so many bugs in there. Like, seriously! I had no idea it could catch this many." Sachiko said.
"Oh dear." Double D said as they looked over the footage of Odd bringing her in.
"It definitely was Brynja. When she touched the keyboard, she modified the program and messed with the Superscan." Hermit said.
"Oh man, what a mess." Zacian said.
Mark was quiet before he raised his foot and slammed it on the ground. "I'LL KILL HIM!" he yelled, racing out of the room.
"Is that his primary response to a lot of things?" Shun'ei asked.
"Not as many as you think. But… Yeah, Odd's gone too far this time." David said.
"Ugh, that dumbass." A2 said.
David gets a phone call. "Hello? Jeremie? Well, things could be better. How is everything on your end?"
"I'm working on repairs. I'm sending Aelita in just in case XANA launches an attack during the time." Jeremie said.
"All alone? Are you sure that's a good idea?" David asked.
"No, but we don't have many options right now." Jeremie said.
"Alright, I get the picture. We'll see what we can do on our end." David said as he hung up. "What is with everyone today? It's as if the whole world has gone crazy!"
Meanwhile, at the park…
Odd and Brynja were relaxing together under a tree, when suddenly…
"ODD DELLA ROBBIA!" a voice of fury yelled as Odd looked up to see Mark running towards them, murder in his eyes.
"Oh that's not good-!" Odd said as he got up, too late as Mark tackled him, sending them both to the ground, Mark over the Lyoko Warrior.
"What the actual hell were you thinking, Odd?!" Mark shouted as he grabbed the guilt party by his shirt collar. "Why would you let her anywhere near the factory?!"
"Why you make such fuss? Yes we visit your mysterious factory but not like it's the end of the world." Brynja said.
"You, shut up!" Mark yelled at her before he turned back to Odd. "You, talk. NOW!"
"I-I-I told her not to touch anything!" Odd said. "I'm sorry, I didn't-"
"Didn't what, think anything would happen?!" Mark snapped at him. "The Supercomputer is on the fritz! Now we have multiple false alarms, so we won't know when an actual emergency is happening, and who knows what else! You have really screwed us six ways to Sunday!"
"I've heard enough of these stories. I am going to the swimming pool. Odd, are you coming or not?" Brynja asked as Odd looked at her and Mark.
"I, um… I'm really sorry." Odd apologized.
Mark's angry face turned into one of hurt betrayal for a moment before it hardened again. "Fine. Go with her. See if we care, Romeo." he said venomously before he turned and walked away. As he did, his comm buzzed.
"Mark…hope you're done with your anger…cause we got a problem." Jexi said.
"I'm all ears." Mark said sadly. "Just me, though…"
"I see…Aelita is being attacked by monsters in the mountains." Jexi said.
"I'm on my way." Mark said.
"Just a bit of a warning, though. With the Supercomputer all messed up, you could be dropped anywhere on Lyoko." Dynasmon said.
"Not to worry, I have a flight plan." Mark said before he hung up and hurried to the Galaxy King.
On Lyoko in the mountains, Aelita was fending herself off from the monsters. As she tried to take flight, she was attacked by William as she fell as the monsters stopped firing.
"Aelita, at last! Just the two of us!" William said as he chased after her. "Looks like we're both running solo today!"
Aelita fought against William and the monsters, but soon a Kankrelat got a lucky shot on her, allowing William to restrain her using Supersmoke.
"XANA's got a few questions about your old man for you, Aelita." William said "What did he-?"
William's attention was diverted by the sounds of footsteps, turning to see a fan heading for him.
"Oh crud." William had time to say before the fan hit him, sending him sprawling back.
"When are you gonna learn that we never abandon our friends, William?" Ulrich asked as he and Yumi stood together… and then Mark landed beside them.
"Sorry, I was in the Forest Sector, had to fly here!" Mark apologized.
"Careful guys. If you get devirtualized, not sure I can bring you back." Jeremie said.
"Great, now you tell us." Mark said before he looked at Wjailliam. "You know, I'm actually grateful you showed up. I need something to work a little anger off, and you guys are the perfect stress relief!"
"Rar!" William cried as he attacked Mark with his blade.
"And there's the bell!" Mark said as his body was bathed in a blood-red aura. He lunged towards his opponent, the two ready for blood.
In the Control Room, several group members were present as Jeremie continued to work on repairs, the technical members assisting him on their own screens.
"I keep hacking away at these bugs, but more just take their place." 9S said as he was hacking into the Supercomputer.
Just then the elevator opened and stepping out of it was Odd.
"There you are. I take it your little date with Brynja didn't go well?" Sachiko asked.
"I just want to apologize for what happened and I felt really bad about how I acted." Odd said.
"If you want to make it up to us, hurry and get to the scanner room. Mark might need your help." Miu said. "Just a warning, with the Supercomputer all bugged up, you could be dropped anywhere on Lyoko."
"That's my problem." Odd said.
"Hold on, I think I almost got through." 9S said.
"Update: Supercomputer is back in functional working order. Odd can now be virtualized onto the Sector Aelita is currently in." 153 said.
"Not only that, but it's safe to virtualize others now." Sachiko said.
"Yeah!" Jeremie celebrated. "And just in time: Ulrich and Yumi just got devirtualized. It's up to Mark and Odd now."
Back in Lyoko, Mark panted as he stood between William and Aelita, the two heroes standing close to the ledge.
"Getting tired?" William taunted. "This is great. I can take out four birds with one sword!"
"I'm not…letting up, William!" Mark retorted. "(Damn it, I let my anger get the best of me, used too much energy from the start. Can't even conjure a speck of Ki. Now what?)"
"Hang on guys, help's on the way." Sachiko assured on the comm as Odd materialized behind William.
"It's about time you showed up, Odd." William said, turning to face his new opponent. "Too bad you came this far just to fail."
"You think I'm scared of that overgrown popsicle stick?" Odd responded as he fired Laser Arrows at William, managing to strike him twice.
"No!" William raged as he started to devirtualize. "Grr…if I'm going down, I'm taking her with me!" he declared as he managed to get off a blast of smoke before he vanished completely, knocking Mark and Aelita off of the ledge.
"Guys!" Odd called out as he leaped off the ledge and fired a Laser Arrow at Aelita's bracelet, allowing her wings to come out. With them, Aelita managed to grab Mark and Odd, keeping all three of them from falling into the Digital Sea. "Phew! Close call there!"
"Okay, we'll talk back in the real world, but for now, I'm glad you're back." Mark said.
"Same here." Aelita said a bit strained. "Now let's get to stable ground, I'm having trouble carrying you both."
"Excellent job you, but honestly, Odd tends to make mistakes and he does make up for them. So just try to keep your inner Ira under control, okay?" Ace said to Mark. "Especially around the school. We could hear you from the ship."
"I'm sorry." Mark said in apology. "It's hard for me to control my temper when it flares up. I'm going to try and do better in the future."
"That's all any of us can do, I suppose." Double D said.
"Besides all of that, I'm thinking of not initiating the RTTP program." Jeremie said. "Brynja doesn't really care about what we're doing, so it's unlikely she'll tell anyone."
"Speaking of that girl, what happened between you two?" Mark asked Odd.
"Well, it was mostly guilt, but… the whole time we were at the pool, she was asking me questions about you." Odd replied.
"Me? Why would she-" Mark started to ask before he stopped, his eyes widened and his face went pale. "...No. Don't tell me…"
"Oop, there goes his gynophobia again." Simon said.
"Yep." Eddy said, suddenly very tired. "She's after him now."
The resulting scream of fear could be heard from miles away.
The next day…
Brynja was leaving early as she planned to see the French countryside from Sissi's cousin's house. Everyone was happy to see her go, including Sissi who had a look of relief.
"Huh. I could've sworn she was going to stay for four days." Eddy remarked. "Your doing, Sissi?"
"Let's just say I had my father arrange for Brynja to stay with my cousin. She did want to see the countryside, after all." Sissi said triumphantly.
"Sissi Delmas, you are an insidious mastermind." Eddy chuckled. "Hey Marky, you can come out now."
Mark peaked out from behind a pillar. "Sissi, I forgive you for everything." he said as he walked out to join the others. "If I ever see that blonde-haired witch again, it'll be too soon."
"That goes double for me." Odd agreed. "There's plenty of girls here anyway."
"Yeah…ready to flee at a moment's notice when they see you." Pit said.
"Odd…don't ever change." Mark said.
