It had been two weeks since the breakfast at the diner and so far everyone but Catherine had figured it out. Even David Hodge figured it out without even knowing about it. Of course that could have just been a guess on who the father was when he was told by Sara that she could not be in the room when he had something out. Sara was still not sure why Hodge asked if Grissom was the father of her baby and the guy she was engaged to but he did. Nick and Warrick figured it out together in the locker room about three days after the breakfast. Nick had asked if they where right. It was the one time that the boys did not make a bet on something. That left Catherine and the way it was looking it might be next year before she figured it out or maybe when the baby was born. As it would happen they did not have to wait that long before she would figure out everything.
-On the way to a crime scene-
Catherine, Greg and Sara had been assigned to a break in. Of course Catherine was not happy about it but decide she would let Grissom have it later and not take it out on the two that where in the car with her. With Sara driving Catherine took a moment to study her. Pregnancy suited Sara well. Catherine could see the start of a baby bump and just had to ask.
"So Sara what do you want the baby to look like?" Catherine knew it was a weird to ask but she wanted to know.
Sara had thought about this before. When she first meet Grissom she never had thought about having kids but that all changed when she looked into his eyes. She fell more in love with the color of his eyes when they started dating. His eyes where almost like a window to his soul and Sara loved it. "I have not really thought about it but I hope they have their father's eyes." Sara said and almost had to laugh as she had looked over to see the look on Catherine's face.
Catherine did not know what to say really and was trying to wrap her head around this new information that she had just got.
Greg on the other hand heard full well what Sara had said. "You're having twins?" He asked in a shocked voice.
"Yes we just found out. And no that does not mean I am giving in to a bug themed room." Sara said laughing knowing that Greg would understand the joke and wondering how long it would take Catherine to figure it out. With that they arrived at the scene and got to work.
-A few hours later-
Catherine was looking for Grissom to ask him about a bug she found. Of all the places to find him is in his office. Catherine laughed at the thought and went on to ask about the bug. As Catherine was listening to what Grissom was saying she noticed a new frame on his desk.
"Catherine I need the ruler that is in the right top drawer could you get it for me?" Grissom knew that Catherine had seen the ring box in that drawer before and he was sure that she would see the ultrasound picture of his twins.
Catherine did see the ultrasound picture and was about to say something when she noticed that the ring box Grissom always kept in the drawer with his pens for the last 7 or 8 years was gone. "Grissom did you know that the ring box is gone?"
"Yes, I did. When you ask someone to marry them is it not normal to have a ring to put on the hand of the person you are asking?" Grissom asked as Catherine was almost out the door and down the hall. He laughed and sent Sara texted that said incoming.
-Layout Room-
Sara and Greg where going over the evidence from the scene when he phone went off. She laughed and told Greg to be ready.
"Where is it?" Catherine had no more then got in the door when she said this.
"where is what?" Sara know what she was asking but she wanted Catherine to ask it nicer then just where is it and it would give Grissom chance to get to the door to listen to what was being said. Although she did not think that anyone would need to be at the door when Catherine found out.
"Your engagement ring. Where is it? I have not seen you wear it once since you got it and I need to look at it again."
Sara pulled the necklace that she had brought the day Grissom asked her to marry him. She told him she was not wearing the ring on her finger at work because of the stuff they do but she wanted it to be close to her at all times. As soon as Catherine saw it Sara was wrapped in a hug. As she was letting go she said "Gil, you've got some 'splaining to do! Yes I know you are at the door. I know I should be mad but I want to know why hide it."
"We were going to tell you when Grissom told everyone that he had a girlfriend well fiance at that time but I thought it would be fun to let you all figure it out on your own. I was right about that but I thought you would be a little faster then this."
Grissom had stepped into the room by then and said "I really thought you would have gotten it when you saw the ultrasound on my desk but you never said anything about it."
Catherine turned around to see that Grissom was standing at the door holding said ultrasound picture. Catherine took it from him to have a better look at it and noticed something that she had missed all the times she had seen it on Grissom's desk. Sidle-Grissom, Sara. But they are not married why have the name like that.
"Yes we are not married but when I first went to the doctor I asked if there was a way to make it to where if something was happening and I could not speak that the father could speak for me. And that is how the nurse put it in the system."
"What does this mean for the team? There are rules to this kind of thing." Catherine was more worried then she was mad. She would hate to see either of them leave the team. She understood why they kept it a secret for so long.
"That was taken care of months ago." Sara started to laugh remembering just how it was taken care of. "Grissom and I went out of town one day when I had had the night off before and he was having that night off. We might have been caught making out in the car by the mayor. We thought we where safe where we were but it turned out the mayor had the same idea on getting away for the day."
Catherine thought about it for a minute and then remember Grissom asking her to take on more task including taking over supervising Sara and Nick. "So is this why you asked me to take over supervising Nick and Sara? Or was there something more to it."
"When I gave you the rule as supervisor to them I had not even asked Sara out yet. I just wanted to be prepared if it come out earlier then it should that a plan had been in place. It turns out that it was not really needed as the mayor has signed off on Sara working under me even though we told him that you were her supervisor. I just left it that way so that when Ecklie finds out he cannot split the time again."
Catherine had to know something else. "So who all knows?"
"Let's see," Sara started thinking about everyone who knew before Catherine "There is the mayor of course, Greg, Nick, Warrick, Brass, and Hodge. That is as far as we know but who knows who Hodges told."
