Chapter 5

All right! Damn it's good to be back, especially since I'm a few days off of graduation. Gonna try and do plenty of updates between than and my first day of college!

Now let's get to it!

"This is fun right?

The swing set creaked, every time Izuku gave it Eri a little push, while she happily nodded with a smile plastered on her face. She had a wide smile on her face, as her brother pushed her higher and higher, as if she would take to the beautiful wide skies. The sun was setting beautifully, as the sky's bountiful blue gave way to the majestic red taking its place. Luckily, the playground was empty except for the two, which probably was for the best as Eri was not to fond of strangers.

After the Sports Festival reached its end, The past two days passed by rather quickly as the time for Izuku to return to U.A drew nearer. A great deal of it was spent inside the comforts of his apartment recuperating from his injuries. The rest was spent outside with Eri, attempting to show her a good time and most especially, make her smile. That had been one of his main objectives in life these past few months. Ever since he'd found her that day, abandoned and alone in a dark and snowy alleyway, hugging her knees to her chest, with bandages hiding her worn and scarred arms.

If that wasn't enough to tell Izuku and his mother something horrible happened to her, than the way she clung to him when she got close teary eyed and begging ,"Please... Please don't go." It... it just tore his heart to shreds. But what struck Izuku more than anything, was the look in her eyes. A look he knew all to well.

Eyes that were used to being hurt, eyes begging for help, begging to be protected.

Something unspeakable happened to this little girl, and no one could tell exactly what that horrible event was. Not even Eri herself, at least according to the recommended therapist she saw. Apparently, her mind repressed the memories from her, as a way to protect herself from the horrors of them.

Around himself and their mother, Eri mostly acted semi-normal. However, Eri was not like a typical child, instead of being lively and outgoing, Izuku's little sister was nervous and skittish, just as he was, but for very, very, different reasons. What had happened? Who or what, had scarred this adorable little girl, both physically and mentally?

Even the Police Department came up empty handed on information. They couldn't find so much as a shred of information that could i.d Eri, not if her parents were alive, who they were, not even exactly how old she was. No one had put in a missing child's report so, they weren't even at square one. There was always the unspoken horrible question that just hung in the air.

Were Eri's own parents responsible for this? And even that was true, it's not like Eri was the police's only concern, they had many, many other cases they needed to focus on as well.

Whatever really happened, one thing was certain. This shouldn't be happening to begin with. It was wrong. Eri should be acting like a normal child, running around, laughing, playing, and having friends her own age.

But just because something was right, didn't mean it would happen. To Eri, it was safer to stay away and cling to her big brother ,than try and reach out and risk being danger.

Eri had been allowed to stay with Izuku and his Mother, as they were the only two that Eri would speak with and relax around. How long would she stay with them? It was all just so unclear.

So Izuku did everything he could to comfort her, he'd read story books to her, he'd stay up with her and wait for her to fall asleep, he'd teach her, cook for her, comfort her when woke from her nightmares, and play games with her.

As Izuku helped Eri off the swing and lifted her to ride on his shoulders, all he knew was that he'd always do everything within his power to help the little girl.

After all, that's exactly what big brothers were for.

After tucking Eri in to bed, Izuku made his way to lie in his bed, he heard a ding coming from his phone. He picked up his phone, and sucked in a deep breath, to see a text from none other than Uraraka

Uraraka: Ready to get back to school :P?

"Oh my god. OH MY GOD! A GIRL! A-a-a GIRL is texting me!" Had it not been for Eri sleeping peacefully, Izuku would have progressed into a full blown freak out... Well more of a full blown freak out.

Izuku racked his brains for the perfect response, "Okay, just say something smart, something witty. Something that will make her laugh!"

Midoriya: Sure.

Izuku face palmed himself. What was wrong with him?! (AN: I... I understand the pain.)

Uraraka: So is your arm better now? Or does it still hurt?

Midoriya: Yeah, Recovery Girl was really mad at me, but it's healing well.

Midoriya: Anyway, so how did you spend the break?

Uraraka: It was totally awesome!

Uraraka: My parents visited me! =)

Midoriya: That's great!

Izuku snuck a peak at his alarm clock, it read 12:00 A.M. that it was :. They had to get some sleep soon, after all they had class in the morning, and it was already Midnight.

But... Well...

A few more wouldn't hurt, right? Just a little more, and he'd call it a night.

Seriously.

He really meant it.

The Next Day (Spongebob narrator)

Izuku looked like he was about to drop dead the next morning, as he barely caught his train to U. A few more texts turned alot more texts, which turned into a three hour long conversation between the two, but it was totally worth it.

They learned alot about each other in those three hours. While it was true that they hung out often at school, it was mostly about subjects and hero course assignments, there was never much time for personal chit-chat.

So far he'd found out that her favorite food was Mochi, that she loved watching the starry night sky, that her birthday was the day after Christmas, and that her parents had spent the last two days celebrating with her.

It made Izuku smile as she told him about all the fun they had together. But it wasn't solely Uraraka doing all the talking, he had told her a few things about himself. His own birthday, his belief that Katsudon was the greatest food, favorite heroes, his parents' quirks, etc. Being sure to keep details of his personal life to an absolute minimum. He didn't want her to think less of him, because of the truth. Because of his past. Because of his quirklessness.

"Yo. Yo, kid!"

Izuku turned around to see a short, plump man trying to talk to him.

Hey excuse me but, your Izuku Midoriya from class 1-A right?! I rooted for you!"

A shade of red made it's way to Izuku's face. "Well y-yeah, thanks for-"

"Wait, really?"

"It is him!"

"No way!"

"Could you sign something for me?!"

"Take a selfie with me!"

"Your quirk is totally awesome!"

Izuku was quickly overwhelmed by the praise he was given, quickly turning a shade of red that would've made a lobster jealous. They were actually congratulating him, they thought he did a great job.

"Yeah great job in the sports festival, I mean you were tied for 2nd place right? That's so awesome, I mean your opponent was Endeavor's son and you fought him to a draw!" A tall woman with thick glasses in a pantsuit exclaimed, giving a thumbs up.

"KEEP TRYING FOR IT HERO!" The entirety of the car encouraged.

All the attention , it just was so embarrassing, so he nervously squeak ,"T-th-thanks!"

The rain was pounding down on Izuku's poor umbrella by the time he arrived at U.A. Just as he was a few steps from the door, he heard rapid footfalls rapidly approaching him. He turned to see it was none other the Class Rep of Class 1-A rushing in the rain.

"A fine morning Midoriya! However, we must pick up the pace if we wish to be on time."

What? B-but we've still got five minutes before the-"

He didn't get a chance to finish his sentence before Iida bellowed,"U.A students should always be early, wouldn't you agree?"

Rushing to follow his friend, the duo arrived at the lockers to put away their belongings. Luckily they were alone on the walk to class, so Izuku couldn't ask for better situation to check on his friend. Uraraka had filled Izuku in about Iida's older brother Ingenium. How Tensi had been attacked and hospitalized even. By the Hero Killer, called Stain. He hadn't texted Iida during the allotted break time after the Sports Festival, as he wanted to give the speedster his space. But right now he was sure Iida needed a friend.

"Hey Iida I just wanted to..."

"Don't worry Midoriya. My brother was hurt, but he'll be making a full recovery. " He flashed Midoriya a smile, "I'm sorry if I caused you and Uraraka any undue trouble. But I thank you for caring about me, truly" Just before they both entered their classroom, Izuku put his hand on the taller boy's shoulder.

"Okay, but Iida, if you ever need to talk, I'm here if you need me. And not just me, Uraraka too." He implored.

Iida bowed so deeply, it was impressive he didn't permanently bend his spine,"I thank you once again for caring about me Midoriya, but I assure you I'm fine." and with that Iida made his way to his desk.

As Izuku stared at Iida's retreating back, he felt a sense of dread and unease. When Iida smiled at him, it... it just felt so fake, so insincere. Like he was hiding something.

But still, it wasn't his place to push for answers. Iida was still hurting, and he clearly didn't wish to speak of it. It would be wrong to push for answers just for his own satisfaction. So instead, Izuku would just have to keep an eye on him, and reach out if he noticed something.

Izuku made his way to his own desk, passing by an unusually silent Katsuki , who glared so fiercely at Midoriya , it was a miracle he wasn't set on fire... On the bright side he wasn't screaming at him, or calling him names. So it was definitely an upgrade from the usual, though it was sort of depressing to admit that he preferred this.

As more and more of his classmates began to arrive, he saw Uraraka enter and give him a small wave and cheery smile. Izuku felt his cheeks heat up, as he manged a weak wave of his own in response.

"Good Morning, Class.", the familiar apathetic voice of Shota Aizawa said.

As the class turned to face him, they noticed he was bandage free. Tsuyu noticed this and said, "It's good to see you're all healed up Mr. Aizawa."

"The old lady went a little overboard in her treatment." Aizawa noted, scratching the small scar just underneath his right eye. "Besides, today is a very crucial hero informatics class."

Most of the class sweat dropped at this.

Kirishima worriedly thought,"Crap not Hero Laws! I suck at that!"

"Anything but a pop quiz!" Kaminari thought cradling his head.

"You'll be choosing your hero alias today."

"AWESOME!" The class cheered. This was the big time, their own Hero names!

Aizawa silenced them with a look of his red eyes."That's better. Now this has to do with the pro hero drafts I mentioned before the break. Usually students don't have to worry about this draft until at least their second year, but this class is a special case. Simply put, their investing in your potential, however there's also a down side, there is ample time between now and graduation for any pros to change their mind if they interest wanes overtime."

"So basically we need to keep them impressed, even though we've already been recruited?" Jiro questioned.

"Basically yeah." Aizawa monotonously agreed, pressing a remote in his hand. " Now here are the the results of those who received offers from pros, typically it's more spread out, but the spotlight was stolen by our top three."

The Class watched as the results appeared on the screen.

Todoroki: 3,124

Bakugo/Midoriya: 2,380

Tokoyami: 360

Iida: 301

Kaminari: 272

Yaoyorozu: 108

Uraraka: 85

Kirishima: 68

Sero: 14

Some of the class were surprised at the rankings. It wasn't fair, how well the top three ranked, they were so strong it was ridiculous.

"Wait, how did Todoroki do better than Bakugo and Midoriya though?" Ashido asked. It was a valid question, after all Bakugo had won, by default, and Todoroki and Midoriya had fought to a draw.

"Well they probably didn't want to work with the guy who had to be chained up, or the one who smashed his bones to dust. No offense Midoriya." Sero pointed out.

"Yeah it is pretty gross whenever he does that," Mineta chimed in, adding insult to injury. Literally.

Katsuki quickly proved Sero's point of course by erupting at the results, "What dumbass pro's chose fucking Deku?!" Clearly he wasn't too happy about tying with the damned nerd.

Speaking of "the damned nerd" Izuku was close to dropping to his knees and flooding the classroom with tears of joy. He couldn't believe his eyes a whopping 2,380 heroes thought he had potential. They saw the seeds of greatness waiting to bloom within him. They thought so highly of him, that he was sought after just as much as Katsuki was! He couldn't wait to tell All Might!

Still... even though he tied with Todoroki, he still had less requests then him. They were as, Mineta so eloquently put it, "Grossed out" whenever he went overboard. It was a consequence of not being able to control his power, he knew, even as far as he progressed he still had a ways to go. But... he would get there. One day.

Aizawa's voice brought Izuku back down to Earth as he addressed the class," Now these Hero names will probably end up being temporary, but still don't screw around with them or-"

"You'll have a taste of true hell!"

The class turned to see that the voice belonged to, the incomparable R-rated Hero Midnight who swaggered in, much to the appreciation of the perverted duo of Mineta and Kaminari.

"What you choose could end up being permanent, so you better choose something that suits you."

"She actually has a point." Aizawa agreed already slumping against the wall in the comfort of his sleeping bag,"Midnight will be overseeing you choices, it's not really my forte. However I can tell you this much, the name you chose will lead to you cementing an image for yourself. The reason is because, names reflect a... person's ... true character." The Underground pro's eyes finally shut, as he dozed off to the land of dreams.

Before meeting All Might, Izuku would've chosen an homage to his idol. But things have changed since then, he now actually possessed All Might's power and was being personally mentored by him. So he couldn't use any of his homages, there was just too wide a gap separating them.

The names weren't exactly off to a flying start. If Izuku had to be blunt, the first two, "Can't Stop Twinkling" by Aoyama, and "Alien Queen" were just plain weird. After those two, the pressure was on to make a good one, luckily it was Tsuyu who broke the tension as she bravely presented her name.

"The Rainy Season Hero: Froppy!"

It was met with universal reception, as Tsu's name put everyone more at ease.

Despite the rough start, the rest of the presentations went by rather smoothly with Alias like, Kirishima's Homage of "Red Riot", to Yaoyorozu's innovative "Creati", and Ojiro's on the on the nose name of "Tailman". The only exception so far, was Bakugo's codename of "King Explosion Murder". Uraraka caught Izuku's eye as she made her way to the front of the class.

"This is what I chose, Pro hero: Uravity" Uraraka said with rosier than normal cheeks. Midnight gushed over how cute the name was, as Izuku shyly gave her an encouraging thumbs up, which she acknowledged with a nod.

Izuku plucked up all his courage as he stood in front of everyone to announce his name. As his classmates saw the name, no one looked more surprised than Uraraka.

"Are you sure about that Midoriya?" Kirishima questioned.

"Yeah" Ojiro agreed worriedly."That could end up being permanent.

"Y-yeah, I used to hate this name. But then someone helped me in a different way recently, it changed my perspective and that really made me happy, so...

"Deku's the name of a hero!"

"It has to be, Pro Hero: Deku!" he stated with a shaky smile, proudly presenting his sign.

Katsuki simply gaped at Izuku before quickly shooting him with a look of utmost disgust, while Uraraka was simply beamed at him with a blush on her face, before giving him an eager thumbs up.

Both of the gravity girls' actions didn't go unnoticed by a certain pink skinned girl rubbing her hands together. "Heh,heh, heh!"

Bakugo quickly took Izuku's spot. "Lord Explosion Murder!"

"Forget it!"

As the bell rung to signal the end of the school day, Izuku made his way to the door, but it shot open before he could even reach for the handle revealing a sweaty looking All Might.

"I-I AM HERE IN A TOTALLY WEIRD POSE!"

"All Might!"

Y-yeah, uh kid I need to speak with you for a moment.

Unknownst to Izuku, as he walked out the classroom with All Might, his childhood friend narrowed his eyes at them, "What the hell would All Might want with that worthless piece of shit?"

XXXXXXX

Leading him to the empty teacher's lounge, All Might quickly exploded in a cloud of smoke, as released his hold on his muscle form while staring out the window in the room.

"I-I-I'll cut straight to the point Young Izuku, I know you have received numerous offers from many Pro Heroes, and I am very proud of you for that. However s-s-something im-im-important has h-h-happened"

Now Izuku was extremely worried about his mentor, as All Might still looked as if he'd seen a ghost. He was shaking, drowning with sweat, stuttering like, well himself, and had a terrified look plastered on his face. He'd only seen this look on him once before, back when he was talking about that... "friend"of his, shortly before the Sports Festival.

"How-how-however, there's a very special pro, has requested you, which I believe you may be interested in. His name is G-g-g-g-ran T-t-torino. Damn legs, calm down!

"Okay, I don't know who this Gran Torino guy, but he must be the real deal if All Might's this scared of him!", Izuku thought, both nervously and excitedly.

"He taught here for exactly one year, and in fact he was my own homeroom teacher."

"No way! Really?!"

"Yes. He also knows about One For All as well, he was close friends with my own m-m-master,that's the reason he most likely reached out to you. So h-h-he could see what your made of for himself."

Izuku's mouth was gaping in a humorous expression. This was unreal. All Might's teacher! A chance to learn from the guy who instructed the single greatest hero whoever lived! Yes, yes, yes! It was perfect! This was a once in a lifetime opportunity!

"However" ,brought of his ecstasy of thought, Izuku registered the grim change in All Might's tone as it turned grim. It w Not only that, his shaking suddenly ceased, and his face morphed into a somber expression "I've also brought you here, because I wish discuss something else equally important with you." Now those sunken, bony features of All Might's, seemed even more pronounced than usual.

Little did Izuku know, All Might had actually just gotten off of a phone call, with his former teacher minutes ago. He had been told by his former teacher, that the Young Man currently sitting in front of him, greatly admired him, and even more than that, trusted him with his life. And if All Might truly intended on grooming him to take his place, he needed to extend that same courtesy.

"As I've said before, you've progressed far more quickly than I ever expected Young Izuku, you've truly begun to make One For All your own, and I more proud of you for that, than I could ever say. And recently it's brought to my attention that because of that, the time has come for me to be more honest with you."

Izuku noticed, that the atmosphere seemed more tense than it had moments ago, as All Might went on. " You're ready to know the full story , about the origin of One For All."
