Chapter 15: Two Days of Night pt 6
I don't own anything. Resident Evil belongs to Capcom and Tomb Raider belongs to Core Design, Crystal Dynamics, and I think Square Enix. The only thing I own is the changes made to the stories of the Tomb Raider games/comics and Resident Evil games/comics/CG movies, the Government branch S.P.E.L.L., the person that has taken over Kathrine Warren's life, and Rose Warren. This story also will be bloody, violent, and have cursing. It's rated T for Teen.

After Liz explained how she can help, Mel nodded. "Ok. First, we found a few things here and I think explains why the town is haunted." She quickly outlined what they found in the letters and the jail's logbook.
Liz was scowling by the time Mel and Jane finished. "Those lying bastards! This is all their fault. Is that why I'm still here? I died here and because of what they did I didn't," She waved her hand in a swishing motion. "Cross over or pass on? Whatever it is called."
Mel lifted one shoulder. "Maybe. I'm not an expert on this."
Liz sighed. "Alright. Leon said to stay here if this building is safe. Do you have a message for Kyle?"
Mel nodded. "Ya, tell him about the letters and the log we found. Maybe he knows if her spirit is what is keeping people's souls here."
Liz looked to Jane. "Anything for Charlie?"
Jane shook her head as fresh tears rolled down her cheeks. "Tell him I'm safe."
Liz reached out a hand to try and touch Jane's arm but stopped short. "I will. Be right back." With that she stepped through the side wall and then made her way to the Claims Office.

Liz took her time, she ambled around and went into a few different buildings to make it seem like she was just a wondering ghost. She made some mental notes of which buildings seems to have a lot of Zombies wondering around in them and which ones seem to be safe. When she got to the Claim's office she went up to the door and said. "It's me. I'm coming in."
Charlie turned from where he was leaning against the door but he still jumped at seeing her. He had forgotten just how bad she looked. Liz noticed the jump and was glad that he didn't see what her body looked like now with half of her head gone. "I spoke with Leon and he is with Violet. They both are ok, over in the Saloon. No sign of the man in black. Jane and Mel are in the Jail. They are safe as well."
Kyle let out a sigh of relief. "Thank god for that."
"You saw Violet?" Charlie smiled and gave a little chuckle of nervous laughter. "I knew she was safe, I just knew it."
Liz quickly explained what Mel and Jane had found about the Mayer, the Sheriff, and the father of the church. "They straight up framed her and then murdered her to keep her quiet. Mel thinks that it might be her that is keeping the ghosts here out of anger."
Kyle nodded slowly. "That might be the case. So, in order to release the town, we have to put her to rest. Now you are one of them, can you find her? Talk to her?"
She nodded and looked to Bruce. "Leon said to look around here for anything they might use. On my way here, I went into a few buildings and found the ones that were safe." She named off the locations so if they needed to move from the Claim's office, they would know where to go.
Bruce nodded. "Already did that. I dug through the file cabinet. A lot of claims for land, mostly mines. I did find a list of supplies that might help." He held out a yellowed piece of paper.
Liz leaned over to look and saw that the third item on the list was for a case of dynamite. She looked up and straightened. "Would it still work after all of these years?"
Bruce shrugged. "Maybe. Depends on how it was stored. But it is the only thing I could find that might help us. Set a trap for the man in black."
Liz nodded and looked to Charlie. "I'm going to go tell Leon and Violet. Want me to pass on anything?"
Charlie smiled and nodded. "Just tell her to be safe. Don't be a hero."

Liz went back through the door. She took a detour to go by the church and see if she could find out anything. She was just getting close to the front of the General Store when she felt an intense anger. It was like a wave rolling over her. She stopped and turned and went into the store and moved away from the church. She just felt like if she went to close, she would never be able to leave. Out the back of the store she went to the house by the mine and found a few zombies shambling around, but they were trapped inside. At the mine she saw tracks from the Bear, but no sign of it. She quickly went to the Saloon and through the wall.
Leon saw her walk in and he straighten up. "Is everyone ok?"
Violet turned from where she was pacing and looked over.
"Yes. Everyone is safe." She looked at Violet, "Charlie said be careful and don't be a hero."
Violet snorted a laugh. "I'll try."
Liz looked back at Leon. "Bruce found an inventory for one of the mines, there is a case of dynamite in there. If I'm right it is the one just a past the building right there." She pointed out the window to the two-story house. The height of it blocked the view of the Mine entrance. "I also went by the church. I could not get closer than that the store, there is such anger coming from there, I felt like if I went in, I would never leave. I would be consumed by the anger as well." She quickly outlined what Mel and Jane had found.
Violet nodded as she rubbed a hand along the back of her neck. "So, this woman might be the source of the anger. From what you felt, she is in the church. She might be trapped there so if we blow up the church, it would set her free."
Leon nodded slowly. "If we sneak into the mine, get the dynamite we can wire the church. The anger won't affect us."
Liz nodded. "I'll go tell the others. Oh, there are a few zombies in the house. But they can't get out. I also saw bear tracks by the mine, it might have made it's den in there so be careful."
Leon nodded and pulled on his gloves and he gave Violet a nod. "Let's go. Stay behind me."

Leon and Violet peered out of cover from the side of the house.
He looked to Violet. "You sure blowing the church will work?" He asked.
"It'll get rid of where the ghosts are anchored." Violet swallowed as she looked over the dark white expanse of the town. "If the woman was murdered by the church, more than likely they burned her in front of it, the bastards. Then her soul might be anchored to that building. If that is gone, she should be freed."
Leon looked to the biggest building. The church was badly damaged from the plane that crashed into it. Seeing the plane's wingless shape made him think. "The explosives might be unstable; they might work, or they might not. But that plane will have to have been leaking fuel. If we can get just one stick to go off, it will ignite the fuel and that, hopefully, will blow up the plane and take the church with it." He nodded to the tracks he could see in the snow. The bear tracks were deep and looked fresh, they were not filled in with too much snow. "I think Liz is right. The Bear is in there. Let's go really slow and quiet, get the crate and get out. Wire the church and get clear."
Violet looked over at the church. "What about the ghosts?"
"We'll just try to avoid them. I didn't pack any salt." Leon informed as he jumped a little when he heard something hitting against the wall next to him. It sounded like a Zombie heard them and was hitting the wall to try and get through. It was not a loud sound, but loud enough to bring others in the house. "Let's move."
The moved slowly to the Mine entrance that at one point had been boarded up. But it looked like the boards were busted inward. Claw marks could be seen on a few of them. Leon nodded to the marks for Violet. At her nod he carefully stepped over the boards and stopped just inside, letting his eyes adjust to the shadowy darkness. He didn't want to shine the light around and alert the bear. As he looked around the entrance, he could see that it was sort of used as an office and staging area for the mine. There were a few tables around, tipped over chairs, scattered bottles and tools. But what really drew his gaze was the stack of crates covered in a dusty old tarp. He pointed it out to Violet and slowly started to move to it.
Violet looked down to watch her step. She didn't want to trip over something or kick something that would make noise. She tried to step right where Leon did. As they got to the stack of crates, they gently lifted one edge of the tarp. Leon clicked on his light so they could see what was in the boxes. Some were open and they could see bottles lined up in them. One was stacked full of rusted cans. But it was the one on the end that got a smile from her. They could clearly see 'Dynamite" painted on the side.
"Bingo." She whispered.
Together they moved the crate with the cans to the side and Leon picked up the crate of Dynamite and turned to head out of the Cave. His foot came down on a bottle and it shattered with a loud pop. Both of them froze as they hear something shuffle around deeper in the dark of the mine tunnel. Holding still for over a minute, no other sounds could be heard. He nodded to Violet and they slowly made their way back out of the mine.
Once in the light, Leon let out a breath and whispered. "Shit that was close. Let's move over there to that other house and see what we have."
Moving to the right of the mine and away from the bear, the stopped by the front porch of a house. Lifting the top off the crate, Leon shook his head. He was no expert in sticks of dynamite, but some looked badly damaged and aged. A few looked viable and there was a long length of fuse cord. He took out the sticks he thought looked good and tied them together with Para cord he had in his pack. He was able to make three bundles of three sticks.
Violet gently feed some of the fuse into the top of each stick and twisted them together and left about five feet coiled up. She hoped that would give them at least 5 minutes to run. She looked up from the last bundle and saw something moving out of the falling snow. She froze and grabbed Leon's arm.
Leon looked over and saw the movement. He slowly reached for his gun, but relaxed as she saw it was Liz. He lifted an arm and waved her over.
Liz saw the movement and hurried over. "Thank god I found you." She whispered as she got close. "Charlie, Kyle, and Bruce are making their way to the Jail so they can meet up with Jane and Mel." She looked at the dynamite. "Will they work?"
Leon nodded. "I hope to Gods, they do." He gathered up the bundles and they headed for the church.
Liz started to follow, but as they got closer, she felt the anger again. She started to turn to go back to Jane and Charlie. She wanted to stay with them.
'Can I stay with them when they leave here?' She stopped when she felt something else.
There was a warm feeling dead center of her body, like a tug from her gut telling her to follow Leon and Violet. Suddenly, she knew what she had to do and picked up her pace to catch up with them.
