Chapter 16: Two Days of Night pt 7

I don't own anything. Resident Evil belongs to Capcom and Tomb Raider belongs to Core Design, Crystal Dynamics, and I think Square Enix. The only thing I own is the changes made to the stories of the Tomb Raider games/comics and Resident Evil games/comics/CG movies, the Government branch S.P.E.L.L., the person that has taken over Kathrine Warren's life, and Rose Warren. This story also will be bloody, violent, and have cursing. It's rated T for Teen.

As Leon got to the entrance of the church, it was very quiet. He kept his gun pointed at the door way, there were a few sounds that he knew were zombies shuffling around. More than likely from the downed plane.

He turned to look at Violet and whispered. "Sounds like a few undead shuffling around. I wanna do this quietly. Follow behind me but not to close." He holstered his gun and took out his combat knife.

Violet gave him a nod and she followed a few steps behind, turning to look and make sure nothing came up behind them.

Leon spotted the first of the zombies, looked like a pilot or flight crew by the uniform. It was covered in blood and both arms were missing. Just ragged bloody stumps at the biceps. It was facing away from him. so, he came up behind quietly, and with a quick kick to the back of the right knee, the zombie's legs buckled, it went to its knees. Leon quickly stabbed into the right temple, the knife going deep into the brain. As the zombie fell forward he yanked his knife free in time to turn and stab down at a zombie that was lying on the ground just behind the pew next to him. He was not sure it was dead but to be sure, he stabbed it in the head. It did jerk so he knew it was not completely dead.

Violet shuddered at how quickly and quietly Leon took out the two zombies. 'Shit. Is this going to be the kind of world we live in now?' She thought of Black Umbrella and the rumors she had heard.

It made her sad that if they didn't stop Umbrella, this will become a way of life for children growing up. Learning how to kill zombies. She had the urge to laugh as she thought it would be a special class they teach in gym.

The plane was still smoking in places, but it was mostly whole. Leon could smell the fuel though. A burning gag inducing smell. So that meant there was a leak that hopefully they can ignite to blow up the plane and take the church with it. He slowly moved around broken pews and scattered debris to plant one of the bundles of dynamite near the crumpled nose of the plane. It was the bundle with the shorter fuse.

As he stood up, a zombie made a grab for his head as it lurched out of the cockpit window. He jumped back and dropped the other bundle of dynamite. As the zombie started to slide forward out of the window, he brought the knife up, stabbing it through the bottom jaw and up through the palate into the brain. The zombie made a gurgle sound as it died.

Violet reached down and picked up the bundle that Leon had dropped. She gave another shudder. When Leon looked over at her, she nodded to the wing that was partly ripped off and the fuel that was slowly dripping from the tear of the wing. At Leon's nod she made her way over and placed the bundle in the pew that was soaked with the dripping fuel. She nodded to the front of the church that they should make their way out and set the last bundle near the entrance. She saw Leon nod then his eyes go wide as he looked at something behind her. She spun quickly, expecting to see a zombie reaching for her, but instead saw a shimmering form of a man in the robes of the Priest.

Liz stopped at the entrance of the church. She could now feel rage so intense that it hurt her to take any more steps closer. It was like a thousand pins made up a wall in front of her and she would have to move through all of them to get inside. But she knew that she had to. She held up a hand and started to push, hissing at the sting that went through her palm and fingers.

She was just about to pull back when she felt a cool touch on her fingers that stopped the pain. Slowly the form of a woman shimmered into view. She was pressing her palm to Liz's. Where they touched there was a warm golden glow, softly shimmering around their hands. Slowly she reached up her other hand and pressed it to the wall and the ghost on the other side nodded and lifted her hand to press it to Liz's. Liz could see the ghost trying to talk but the wall was blocking any sound.

So, she shook her head. "I can't hear you."

At the sadness on the other woman's face, she started to take a step back. Liz knew that she had to talk to her. It was very important. She felt that she was the key to all of this.

"No. Wait!" Liz plunged her hands through the wall and tried to grip the other woman by the wrists.

The pain was excruciating. It felt like her arms were on fire. The pain licking its way up her arms. She could almost feel her skin bubbling and ripping open. She opened her mouth to scream when the pain stopped and she saw the other woman's arms were sinking into hers. She had the scary vision of the Venom symbiote slowly covering Peter Parker. But she knew that was what she needed. So, she moved closer and started to press her whole body through the wall. The sting of pain all over her body made her start to chant 'Shit, shit' over and over through clenched teeth. The pain only lasted for seconds until she was through and the other woman was like a shadow over her, fitting her body over Liz. Then Liz finally could hear her.

"You are either very brave or insane to come here. But thank you. My name is Aleka Fotea."

Liz nodded, hearing the voice in her head rather than aloud. "I knew, somehow I knew who you were. I read what the mayor did to you." She felt the anger from Aleka fill her and she welcomed it.

"He killed me. He got Father Chandler to do it. But he accused me simply because I rebuffed him. So, when they burned me, I cursed them. They were never going to leave here. I wanted them trapped forever in this town." She quickly explained.

Liz blinked and she was looking through Aleka's eyes. See what she saw when she was tied to the stake and the fire and smoke surrounding her. Screaming out her hate and anger, cursing the Father to be locked in his church for all eternity.

"But I needed to stay, to keep him here. My anger is the binding that holds his soul."

Liz could see the glow that encircled her and Aleka. But there was a thin thread that snaked out and seemed to float away deeper into the church. In some places it pulsed and flickered weakly out of sight.

Aleka continued. "He is keeping the others now, building strength against me from each soul he pulls in. I cannot hold him much longer. There is a strength in you. One he cannot take." She lifted both their arms and motioned to the plane. "When that crashed into the church and destroyed some of it. I felt a bit of his soul cleft off. It weakened him." She moved them a few steps in as she quickly continued. "If the whole church is destroyed, it will release the souls he has trapped and destroy him. He will not pass beyond, he will just end. A fate worse than death. He will not see the heaven or hell he preached about."

Liz nodded and moved forward with Aleka into the church. What she saw sent a flash of fear through her. There was Father Chandler, engulfed in a black energy that twisted and writhed around him like large snakes. He was using that energy like whips and latching onto Leon and Violet to fling them over pews or into the walls.

Violet hissed in pain as she was pinned to the pew with one of the whipping tentacles. She looked to Leon. He was now also pinned, but to a wall, as one of the tentacles pushed a broken pew against him, slowly crushing his chest. He grunted and groaned as he tried reaching for the dropped bundle of dynamite with one hand and trying to keep the pew from crushing his ribs. The ghost before them wasn't who they thought. Between them, shaking his head was a man who looked to be in his fifties, graying brown hair. He wore the clothing of a priest. Other then the paleness of death, he looked relatively unharmed.

"Shame…" He said as the pair struggled. "The Daughter of the witch isn't like her mother." He said looking at Violet.

"The fuck dose that mean!?" Violet asked in anger as she tried to lift an arm, but it felt like something heavy was on her arms and she could only lift them a few inches before her straining muscles would give out.

"The Witch, you have her blood. I can feel it. She somehow cursed me to this hell. This looks…" He looked around him. "…my church…but it's not. It's corrupted, damaged. She is not here. She must have taken my place in heaven. The lord has been corrupted by Lucifer's bitch."

"For fuck's sake…" Leon groaned, he'd had it with this guy.

"Let them go, Chandler."

Eyes snapped to the voice of Liz. She looked shockingly different. The injuries she had prier and during her death were gone. Her clothes were fixed as if she hadn't been ripped apart. Her hair was neatly brushed, but now was free of the ponytail and flowed around her like she was under water. There was someone over top of her, so you were looking at her as well as Liz. Her skin was lighter in color and her hair a deep dark black. All around them was a soft glowing gold light and a wave of warmth was flowing out and through the church like a wall of golden smoke.

"Leave my hell child. These souls do not concern you." Father Chandler ordered with a sense of authority. He was not looking at her, he was looking at Violet with a greed and anger that twisted his face into something unearthly.

Liz felt his energy. He was filled with anger and so much evil that the closer they moved the more bile started to make her throat burn, despite having no bile. "No." She snarled as she dug deep and slowly kept walking toward him. "I'm not like the others that you lured and trapped here." She said and as she passed Violet, the force holding her snapped and she jumped to her feet with wide astonished eyes. "You are the one who plotted the murder of an innocent woman. A grieving woman who had lost her husband, whose son left the town with his love."

She passed Leon and the force on the pew vanished, the black tentacle snapping back to the Priest like a rubber band being cut. Liz and Aleka kept moving forward as Father Chandler tried to whip at them with the black energy. It would bounce off the golden smoke, but it would cause a flicker of either Liz or Aleka to be clear and not melded together.

On one of the strikes, then Aleka was clear Father Chandler roared with rage. "You! Witch! It was your curse that trapped me here? I demand that you release me! In the name of the one true God, you will obey me!"

Liz had the strong urge to flip him the middle finger. Instead she tipped her head and smiled. "That would be a no. We don't listen to you. You do not speak for any God or Gods."

Leon felt the pressure on the pew give way, he shoved it away from him and grabbed up the explosives. He looked up to see the golden smoke slowly envelop the priest, so he was trapped in a bubble of it. The black energy flailing against the edges, trying to break through the gold light. Violet limped over and they watched as Liz got in front of the seething fallen man of God. She paused for a moment and looked over her shoulder to them.

"Get everything set up. Give my brother and sister my letter. Tell them I'll be watching." She said with a hint of pain in her voice. She lifted her hands as the two forms began to pulse with gold energy that looked like the black tentacles that were now so weak, they just hung around Father Chandler, weighing him down so his shoulders stooped with the weight of them. "I'm ending this. This curse. This haunting. It is what I am meant to do."

Leon and Violet moved to put the last bundle in place. Violet waited at the entrance while Leon raced over to the first one and lit the fuse, run to the next and then to the last one. He didn't have time to say anything to Liz.

Violet shouted out, "We will always love you!" Then she turned and ran from the church, Leon just a step behind her.

Chandler roared in raged as he used the last of his energy to rush at Liz and Aleka. The three glowed brightly. Black anger verses warm gold, expanding out in a blinding flash. His form started to rip apart like old parchment paper, the bits of him flaking off to burn to ash in the gold light. He let out a scream of rage that turn higher into a scream of terror that continued on and on. As the black tentacles started to break down, little dots of light floated up like dust motes dancing in a sun beam. Only there was a uniformity to them as they moved up through the roof of the church. With a last pulse of golden light, Liz, Aleka, and Father Chandler were gone. There was a silence and peace in the church that had not been present since the day Aleka was burned.

The silence was ruined with the first explosion going off that lit the fuel, the blast that followed shook the entire town. The shockwave flattened most of the general store, the claims office, and the house where Leon and Violet had stopped to get the dynamite ready. Falling burning debris landed as far as the saloon, setting part of the roof on fire.

As far as Leon knew Jane and Mel were safe in the Sherriff's office, that was as far from the blast radius as they could manage. He hoped that Bruce, Charlie, and Kyle had made it to them. He and Violet were just out of range, passing the store and even with the Doctors office, when he felt his legs trip over something in the snow. He fell into the snow, being blinded by the white powder for a moment. He rolled to the right to get to his feet, as he wiped the snow from his eyes.

He had moved just in time. The snow where his head had been puffed up from a gunshot. Leon looked at where the gunshot had come from and saw the man in black just feet from him. He had discarded his cracked goggles from the bar fight. His handgun aimed at Leon's head. For a moment, Leon thought it was over, but then he saw it. The gun was jammed. It was either out of ammo or all the cold and snow had frozen the metal of the gun.

That didn't matter as the man growled a cuss word, trying to fix the gun. Leon took his moment. He jumped at the man and tackled him into the snow. Seeing a rock covered in ice, Leon grabbed the man's hand and started hitting it onto the rock. After four successful hits, the man yelled as he let go of his gun. The pair were now in hand-to-hand combat as they slowly shifted. Leon could hear the fading sound of Violets running steps.

'Good, she's safe.' He thought.

The man took advantage in Leon's second of distracted eye movement to snake out a fist to the side of Leon's head.

Leon hissed as his head was knocked to the side, pain blossoming along his left cheek bone. It was like being hit with a bat. He was just dazed enough that the man got in a left hook to his right jaw, as his head snapped to the side, Leon was sure a tooth was loose. He spat out the blood that filled his mouth. The guy had a longer reach and was at least fifty pounds over Leon. To get a hit in, Leon stepped into the man rather than back away.

The move surprised the man long enough for Leon to grab the back of his neck and bring his leg up to knee the man in the gut, you can't fight if you can't breathe. But his knee missed the mark and hit just below the diaphragm. The man in black let out a grunted wheeze of air and staggered back a few steps, but was not down, though he did tip to the left, favoring his side.

Leon then saw the fabric of the man's black sweater was glossy with blood. He quickly stepped in again to land a jab into the center of the wetness, trying to aggravate the wound and hopefully cause enough pain to disable his opponent.

The pain had the opposite effect, the man bull rushed Leon, grabbing him around the waist and knocking him over onto his back, the man in black pressed a knee into Leon's chest, pinning him to the cold white ground. He started raining punches to Leon's face and chest, aiming to beat him to death. All Leon could do was try to block the blows with his forearms.

"I don't see-" Punch to the side of Leon's face. "How you and the bitches-" a jab to Leon's right side making him yell in pain. "are a threat—!"

He didn't finish the next hit. Leon managed to toss snow into the man's eyes. The man leaned back enough for Leon to push him off and stagger to his feet. Blood was running into his right eye from the cut across his brow where the skin had split from the punch. The man was starting to get to his feet so Leon kicked him where the bullet wound was, the man bellowed in pain as he stumbled back a step and tripped on his own trip wire.

The church and plane exploded then. As the shock wave rushed outward, Leon dove to the ground, lying as flat as he could as the shockwave rolled over him. The heat was next, some of the ice around Leon made popping sounds as it melted from the warm air. Then it was quiet. Leon coughed as he slowly got to his hands and knees. Ash, now mixed with the falling snow, turning the ground and buildings gray. He looked to where his opponent was and saw he had been impaled on shrapnel from the plane. Inadvertently, his would be assassin protected him from the metal bits.

As he stood up, he heard a buzzing from the man's body. He walked over and found the radio on his belt. He grabbed it from the man, whipping blood from his split lip with the back of his hand.

"…in place. Targets have returned to address."

Leon frowned at that.

"Understood. You are clear to go. I want that child's G-Antibody."

Leon's eyes widened as he stared at the radio. "No…" He felt his blood run as cold as his surroundings. He ripped his radio from his belt. "Agent Kennedy to HQ, Over!" He yelled into his radio.

"No need to yell Agent, we read you over." HQ stated.

"You need to send a team to the Warren residence now. Right now. They are under attack." Leon infromed, he was terrified for the girls and for Kat. It also made him worry if anyone else was being attacked. But he hopped not.

"How did you come by this information?"

"The assassin that had been attacking us out here. He had a radio. I heard them announce the attack. Hurry and send a team in!" Leon breathed looking around, wishing for the first time that he had the speed of a superhero. He felt helpless.
