Berk
Hiccup and Toothless flew high above his home to scout Drago's forces gathered on Berk. He looked down with his spyglass. He spotted eight Hunter Ships anchored in the cove. A few hundred Hunters were trading among the people of Berk and talking to them. Hiccup lowered the spyglass thinking that Berk would never allow those men on their island if they knew the truth. But he knew that Berk won't side with Dragon Riders. Of course, he has little choice. They glided to the other side of Berk and landed at the cove. Hiccup jumped off and looked at the cove. When Hiccup ran off he collected all of Toothless's scales that now cover the armor Hiccup was wearing and covered all of the Night Fury's tracks. Hiccup remembered so many good days in the cove. During a Raid, Hiccup managed to shoot down the Night Fury but no one believed him. After Gobber sent Hiccup back home and left to repair the damage, the young Heir ran into the woods and after many hours of searching, he found the Night Fury wrapped around ropes. Hiccup was about to kill the dragon, but he looked at the dragon's eyes and saw it was scared like him. What the Viking did made him a traitor to all Vikings. He freed the Night Fury and study the dragon. From there Hiccup earned the Night Fury's trust, earning a friendship.
"Well bud, we better get going." Hiccup remarked as he climbed onto the saddle. Toothless cooed and the Rider pat the side of the Night Fury's head. Toothless launched into the air to get out of the cove and immediately landed. They walked through the woods wary of the Vikings who lived here. Hiccup's biggest worry is Astrid. When they were kids, he saw he out here throwing her axe. The last thing he wants is to fight her. When the two friends reached the edge of the woods, Hiccup jumped off the saddle and grabbed his spyglass. He saw the Hunters showing the people of Berk their ballistaes. As he scanned the village, Hiccup frowned seeing Gobber hand some Hunters new swords. They laughed and Gobber looked angered. The Blacksmith closed his windows and Hiccup sighed. He looked over to the Great Hall and saw Spitlout walking up the steps with a Hunter. Hiccup grinned recognizing the Hunter as Krogan. Loyal servant to Drago. Now Hiccup has to attack. Krogan is rarely seen except for attending Dragon Auctions and negotiations. When he is missing from the scene, Krogan is off assisting Drago in building his fleet. The capture of Krogan will prove vital to ending this war.
"Let's head off bud." Hiccup said and the two faded into the woods. As they traveled further into the woods, Toothless gave a low growl. "What is it bud?" Hiccup asked as they slowed. The Rider grabbed Inferno and prepared for a fight. Moments later a axe was thrown and Toothless's tail knocked over Hiccup saving his life. The Night Fury turned and growled. Hiccup bolted up and saw Astrid holding a pair of knives. The three circled each other and Hiccup didn't want to fight her.
"So you're the Dragon Master?" Astrid asked and Hiccup looked at her beauty. She has grown much since they were kids and he didn't want to hurt her.
"Yeah. But I prefer Dragon Trainer." Hiccup replied.
"So you're setting your sights on Berk now? That is your biggest mistake." Astrid said and Hiccup grinned under his helmet.
"No. Siding with Drago is your biggest mistake. He's a cold blooded murderer." Hiccup replied as he lowered his right hand to get Toothless to back off. "I don't want to wage a war here. But Krogan is my key to finding Drago. I'll do what I have to find him."
"Not today." Astrid promised and Hiccup walked forward gripping Inferno. Astrid swung her knives and Hiccup blocked it Inferno. The Monstrous Nightmare light the shadows of the trees. Astrid retreated back eyeing the blade. She charged again forcing Hiccup into a defensive position. The Rider opened the Zippleback canister and ignited a small blast sending both down. Toothless pounced holding Astrid to the ground. Hiccup raced to the saddle and grabbed some rope.
"Sorry about this, but I can't let you ruin my plans." Hiccup replied as he tied Astrid up.
"When I get out of this, I'll chop your head off and feed it to the sharks." Astrid threatened as Hiccup picked up her knives. He examined it as one he made years ago. Hiccup put it in the saddle before walking to retrieve the axe.
"Oh, I'm sure you will. But that can come after I get my hands on Drago." Hiccup replied pulling the old axe out of the tree.
"Yeah so you can rule the world?" Astrid asked and Hiccup chuckled as he secured the axe on the saddle.
"Once Drago is gone, I'll return to my home and live the rest of my life in peace. Tell them the truth and hopefully be celebrated." Hiccup answered truthfully. He does want to tell Berk that the man who murdered his father was gone. Maybe then he'll be accepted and show that he can lead Berk. The thought still frightens him. He only heard stories of how his father ruled and was terrified to let him down.
"So what did Drago do to you?" Astrid asked and Hiccup walked over to her.
"He murdered my father." Hiccup answered before pulling Astrid up. She kicked his shin and he let go. She ran but Toothless's tail tripped her. "Really? Did you just try to outrun a Night Fury?"
"I am not going to be your prisoner." Astrid replied with hate as Hiccup walked over.
"What do you think I'll do to you once we're at my base?" Hiccup asked kneeling down.
"I'm a woman who's been taken prisoner. What do you think?" Astrid answered sharply and Hiccup palmed his forehead.
"I am not a monster. I hate the mere idea of what you assumed. I give you my word that I will not take away your womanhood. But I am going to return to base and you're coming with me no matter what. You will be returned home, but not now." Hiccup remarked before helping Astrid up and she kicked his shin again. Before she ran, Toothless cut her off from the village and growled. "For the love of Thor will you stop that?" he asked before helping Astrid onto the back of Toothless's saddle. Hiccup climbed up once Astrid was secured. They launched into the air, flying in between the trees before gaining attitude. Once they got to a good cruising attitude, Hiccup turned his head. "So what's your name?"
"None of your business." Astrid replied sharply.
"Well I need to call your something. What do you think Toothless?" Hiccup asked.
"You named your Night Fury, one of the most feared dragons in the world, Toothless?" Astrid asked puzzled.
"Yeah, he has retractable teeth. That's how he got the name." Hiccup replied. "I'm thinking Signy? Kadlin? No, Siv."
"If I tell you my name will you shut up?" Astrid asked and Hiccup nodded. "Astrid."
"Astrid. A lovely name." Hiccup replied before falling silent for the rest of their journey.
Dragon's Edge
"Oh, you got to be kidding me?" Heather whispered to herself when she saw Hiccup and Toothless brought a guest from Berk. The Rider walked over and Hiccup jumped down. "Why do all of your stealth missions end with someone trying to kill you?"
"Luck of Thor?" Hiccup replied jokingly. Hiccup helped a blonde woman off of Toothless. "Heather, this is Astrid. Can you make sure she is comfortable in one of the guest huts?"
"Very well then. Come on Astrid. It looks like I'm stuck guarding you." Heather remarked as Hiccup and Toothless took off for the Great Hall. Heather escorted Astrid down flights of steps with Windshear following. The two were silent until they reached the green grass.
"You all seemed prepared for war." Astrid remarked as they walked through the rows of huts. Heather turned her head to see the towers above the huts.
"Drago has a large number of warships. Viggo's Hunters have led a few attacks on the Edge. We survived, but with heavy damage." Heather answered as they found an empty Guest hut. Heather opened the door and Astrid walked in. "If you need anything I'll be outside."
When the door closed, Astrid inspect her room. It was a medium size room with a desk, closet, chairs, a table, selfs filled with books, and a bed. The Dragon master expected the Shieldmaiden to stay in her cell, but Astrid had other plans. Astrid saw a window on the other side of the hut and Astrid pulled the desk below the window. She climbed up and broke the window open, but a metal scale dragon showed its head with Heather on a saddle. "Really?"
"I'm not going to let your dragons destroy Berk." Astrid replied and Heather shook her head.
"We're not going to destroy Berk. Just Drago's forces." Heather promised and Astrid got down when the dragon growled. She was trapped on an island full of dragons and Dragon Riders. Traitors to the way of the Vikings. For now, Astrid will wait for an opening to escape.
