A/N WELCOME TO THE NEXT CHAPTER! This one is gonna show the HP timeline again, just like that one chapter with Dumbledore! There is a long flashback in it again, but you are gonna love it, I promise you. This chapter officially showcases the first major deviation from HP canon, and something me and my beta discussed long and hard on, and how to make it fun and make sense. It does use elements of canon, which JKR made ambiguous, so I've gone and interpreted it my way, and I think it works well!
TRIGGER WARNING NEAR THE END OF THE CHAPTER! AND ALSO FOR THE GLOSSERY AT THE END!

Chapter 9:
In Bad Faith.
Malfoy Manor, Wiltshire, England
United Kingdom, Mortal Realm
July 31st, 1990. Lucius Malfoy stat in his armchair in his den, staring at the glass of Ogden's Finest he was holding in contemplation. He was a man that was full of things he regretted, and things he would never change. He was dressed in comfortable dining clothes, as he was expecting a guest for dinner that night. His iconic snake-topped cane-cum-wand holster leaned against the armchair on his left side. Sitting in an armchair in front of him was a man dressed in black, also holding a drink. The man had shoulder length pitch black hair, a hooked nose, and pitch-black eyes. Severus Snape was a long-time companion, trusted friend, and confidant to Lucius and had been invited to have lunch with the man and his son Draco, who was also Severus' Godson. They had retired to the den to discuss various topics from potion ingredient prices to Lucius' ministerial duties. Comfortable silence settled after a moment, which got Lucius thinking back to something that happened not so long ago.
"I recognise that look, Lucius. Dwelling on the past does nothing for you." Severus stated. Lucius sighed.
"Those who cannot remember the past, are condemned to repeat it."
"Quoting muggle authors, Lucius? You must be truly deep in thought." Putting his glass on the coffee table in front of him, Severus continued. "Galleon for your thoughts?"
Lucius was silent for a moment before replying. "My father was a man that put another House over his own. A monster he may have been, Abraxas' blood is my blood, and its Draco's blood."
Knowing the line of thought that Lucius was on, Severus interrupted him. "You are not a monster, Lucius. You did what you needed to do so your family could survive. What you did under the Dark Lord was monstrous, yes, but your father gave you no choice. The Dark Lord gave you no choice. And I know you well enough that you would send Draco to Camp Half-Blood to live permanently if it means he escapes the Dark Lord." Lucius looked to Severus as the man continued. "You are a good father and Narcissa is a wonderful mother, Lady Hecate herself tells you both as much. Draco is in good hands, he is safe."
'Is he though?' Lucius thought. His mind wondered to a decision he had to make, five years ago.
/Flashback/
It was July 11st, 1985. Lucius was at his desk in his den, reading an old tome. It was given to Lucius by the Goblin King Ragnuk the Third, after Lucius had proven himself worthy of his heritage. The tome was titled "Historical and Traditional Defence of the Shade" and was written by a woman named Impaz. Lucius had been summoned to Gringotts on his twenty-first birthday. Upon arriving, he had been swiftly escorted down a side door which led to long and winding caverns leading downwards, deep into the mines. He entered a large, underground hall with a large throne at the opposite end. The oldest Goblin he had ever seen sat upon it, and seeing Lucius, stood up and walked towards the man. He had introduced himself as Ragnuk the Third, King of the Goblin nation, and he had summoned Lucius to test to see whether his bloodline was finally ready to learn his heritage.
After a string of tests on his morals and ethics, along with a highly invasive legilimency session, he was taken to a small Vault, numbered 005. Cutting his hand and smearing blood on the doors opened them, revealing a small chamber, definitely smaller than the Malfoy vault. Inside was a couple of bookshelves, some racks of armour, a table with different daggers, and on a central pedestal, a sealed letter. Opening the letter and reading the contents, the young Lucius was in disbelief. The Goblin King explained that the vault belonged to Lady Impa, and that Impa was his ancestor. The letter was long and revealed a past that he could not believe. Beings called Hylians, his own race called the Sheikah, the fishlike Zora, and many others. The letter included refences to books that he was certain that he would find on the vault's bookshelves. Still in disbelief, he and Ragnuk spoke at long length about the lost history of the world, of what the Sheikah's role was, of its glorious history, and so much more. Hours later, when the young Malfoy walked out of the bank towards the Leaky Cauldron, he made a silent promise that he would learn of his true heritage and protect what his ancestors fought for.
After years of studying those books, Lucius was able to replicate the Sheikahn dagger forms, using them better than even Bellatrix Lestrange, and learned potion-making almost as thorough as Severus, although he did hide these skills from the Death Eaters. Unfortunately, due to many generations of breeding with humans, Lucius was unable to utilise Sheikahn magic, but that didn't sway him. He knew that the Goblins were creatures from that far off era, and if they survived, it means others did also. If he ever found Sheikahn survivors, he would be able to teach them the old ways of his people.
A knock on the door shook him from his reminiscing state. Lucius closed the tome and placed it in a drawer. "Enter." He stated.
The door opened and a distinguished looking man walked in. He had long sliver-white hair, was dressed in elegant robes, and carried a walking cane. Lucius looked at the man in silent disgust. Abraxas Malfoy was a stern man and avid supporter of the Dark Lord, who had committed a multitude of crimes in his name. He had been living at Malfoy Manor in Wiltshire instead of his usual residence in Bordeaux, France due to his recent diagnosis of Dragon Pox. Lucius had been accommodating and was caring for his ill father, as was required of him, but he didn't mean he had to like it. The duties of the Wizengamot had fallen on his shoulders while Abraxas was recovering, much to the support of the other dark aligned houses.
Abraxas walked into the den slowly, leaning heavily against his cane. "You are always holed up in this room, Lucius. It is not healthy for you to neglect the other families." He stated pompously. "You should be hosting parties and reinforcing our connections to our old comrades. Your son is five this year and you have yet to contract him to a suitable pure-blood woman, for Merlin's sake! The Parkinson's and the Greengrass' have sent me betrothal contracts to overlook. Walburga Black has also sent me a letter demanding that you secure the Black Family's lineage, and personally, I'm beginning to think you are not suitable to be handling this particular task!"
'Suitable pure-blood. Ha! If only he knew.' Lucius thought. "Send me the contracts and I shall overlook them. Draco is my son, and therefore it is my duty to find a suitable wife for him." He stood and looked towards his father. "Was there anything else you required father?"
"Indeed. I am due for a check-up at St Mungo's in an hour, and I require your assistance to apparate me."
Lucius nodded. "Very well, father. I shall be ready by then."

The tell-tale CRACK of apparition sounded in the foyer of the hospital announced the arrival of Abraxas and a visibly uncomfortable Lucius Malfoy. Abraxas let go of Lucius and walked towards the front desk. Lucius looked at his father's back with a Malfoy Scowl™, grabbed his robes, tugged them to adjust them, cleared his face, and followed Abraxas towards the desk.
"You, nurse." Abraxas said conceitedly. "Lord Abraxas of the Most Noble and Ancient House of Malfoy, I have an appointment with Healer Bodrick." The wizard at the desk looked at Abraxas disinterestedly.
"Second Floor, Magical Bugs, first room on the left at the top of the stairs."
Abraxas gave the wizard the Malfoy Scowl™ and walked towards the stairs, climbing to the second-floor office as directed. Walking into the office without knocking, Abraxas looked to the startled healer, Lucius close behind him.
"Healer, I want to get this over with as soon as possible. I have meetings to organise for my grandson's betrothal contract as clearly, my son is too distracted with his books to bother with House matters." Abraxas said snidely.
The healer's expression had transition from startled to uncomfortable. He schooled his features. "Uh, good day Lord Malfoy. Of course, we can get your check-up sorted quickly. Please sit down." The healer gestured to a chair and stood up. He walked over to the now sitting Lord. What followed was a lot of elaborate wand waving and silent whispers of advanced medical spells. Abraxas was stone-faced, although his right eye was twitching with growing annoyance.
After five minutes of spell work, the healer walked over to a wall with clipboards hanging from it. Taking a clipboard and waving his wand at the blank paper, the page filled with the medical data that the healer's spells had taken. Taking a moment to consult the information, read out the relevant data.
"Well Lord Malfoy, it appears that your Dragon Pox is passing. The rash is clearing up nicely, and it looks like you are no longer sparking from sneezes." He looked up with a small smile and continued. "I would say that as long as you take it easy for the next few days, and don't aggravate the remaining rash areas, you should be cleared up in about a week. I will still be putting you on a course of potions as an insurance." The healer placed a slip of parchment on the table between them which held the list of potions. Lucius took the page as Abraxas stood abruptly.
"Is that everything, healer?" Abraxas said. The healer nodded and Abraxas swiftly left the room. Lucius nodded to the healer in thanks and followed his father out the door.
"Filthy half-blood. St Mungo's used to have pureblood healers that knew what they were doing just by looking at you. The Dark Lord had the right idea, I'll tell you!" Abraxas ranted. Lucius just nodded along as he followed Abraxas back to the apparition point in the foyer.
"Lucius." Abraxas said, as they arrived in the foyer. "An old acquaintance of mine is going to take me back to the manor. You are to go and retrieve my potions." He ordered imperiously.
"If you are sure, father." Lucius said, ignoring Abraxas' tone. He walked to the apparition point, and with a subdued CRACK, Lucius disapparates.
Fifteen minutes later, Diagon Alley, London, England,
United Kingdom, Mortal Realm
Lucius walked out of the potion store, a case containing his father's potions in his hand and his cane in the other. He was walking towards Gringotts to pick up some more tomes from the Sheikahn vault when someone called for him.
"Mr Malfoy!" Turning around to the voice, Lucius saw Tiberius Nott walking towards him. The short, stooping Lord of House Nott was not a very intimidating figure, but no one could contest his political influence. His wealth was also vast; having investments and owning business throughout England and Europe typically helped one's personal wealth.
"Good evening, Lord Nott. Is there something I can help you with?" Enquired Lucius.
"I just wished to enquire about your father. How is the Lord Malfoy?"
"He is healing slowly." Lucius replied. "He will be returning to the Wizengamot soon."
"Very good news, very good. I should also congratulate you on Draco's betrothal!" Tiberius stated excitedly. "I'm sure the Parkinson's are very pleased."
Lucius quickly schooled his features. He could clearly and quickly work out what had happened. Abraxas had ignored his orders and had organized the betrothal contract with Lord Oliver Parkinson between Draco and Pansy, a match Lucius would never have agreed to. If he was to organize a contract for his son, it would have been with House Greengrass, or even House Burke, but he doubted Draco's godly mother wouldn't have words against such a contract. 'His mortal mother would too, come to think of it.'
Lucius smiled thinly. "Thank you, Lord Nott. I'm sure my father was very sure in his decision to bind our families."
"Wait, he didn't consult you before making the contract?" Nott said surprised.
"Indeed, but I trust my father's judgment in making these kinds decisions." Lucius stated, minorly peeved.
By this time, the two men had arrived at the other end of the Ally and were facing the steps of Gringotts.
"Well Lord Nott, I have some business in Gringotts. I am planning on hosting a dinner for some of our old companions. Narcissa will ensure you and your family receive an invitation. Good day." Lucius turned and began to walk towards the doors, where a Goblin guard was opening it for him.
"Oh, good day, Mr Malfoy!" Nott turned and began walking away.
As Lucius was walking towards the main teller at the end of the hall, he kept a face of impassiveness. The other patrons of the bank, noticing him, looked towards the man in slight worry and apprehension. This was the man who, only four years previous, had stood before the Wizengamot Court under charges of terrorism due to his involvement with Death Eater activities. And while he had successfully claimed he was under the Imperious curse, there was still a level of unease that grew when he was present. Lucius however, was not even noticing the stares. Inside, he was angry beyond all measure. During his formative years, Abraxas had drilled into him pureblood values, ethics, and moralities, all the while raising him to be a proper pureblood heir. This included a betrothal contract with the then Narcissa Black, however he counted himself lucky. Unbeknownst to his father, Narcissa and he had begun a secret relationship while they were students at Hogwarts. When the contract was announced and he was told that he had to court Narcissa, he was readily accepted by the woman. It was only after they were married did Druella, Narcissa's mother, reveal to the couple that she organised the contract after reading her daughters diary. But things were different with Draco. Lucius had wanted his son to have free choice with whomever he courted, and both Narcissa and Draco's godly mother agreed with the choice.
'Just another imbecilic decision that Abraxas has made for me.' Lucius thought angrily. Arriving at the teller's desk, he spoke.
"Good evening, master Goblin. I wish to access my vault." Lucius said crisply.
The Goblin looked to the Sheikahn decedent. Although all Goblins had been informed about the Malfoy heir's status, there were still protocols that needed to be observed. "And do you have your key, Mr Malfoy." The Goblin said in a dispassionate tone.
Lucius withdrew a small coin from his robe and placed it on the teller's desk. The coin was not that of wizard or even muggle currency. It was perfectly circular in shape with intricate etchings upon it. On one face, curved lines that surrounded the Sheikah Eye decorated the coin. The other face was blank to the untrained eye, but to the Goblin, he could see through the enchantment to the words "Chieftain of Sheikah" inscribed upon it in plain English.
With a small smile, the Goblin passed the coin back to Lucius, and spoke softly. "Thank you, Chieftain. You may follow Gornock, he will escort you to the Hall. Good day."
Lucius nodded. "Thank you, sir. Good day to you." He stated kindly.
Gornock walked over to Lucius and bid him to follow. He led Lucius out a set of doors which lead to some specially made carts. These carts were not as crazy-moving or 'single speed' as the Goblins normally claimed, and they only led to the lowest levels which contained the five most important vaults, along with where the Goblins lived, in their underground city.
"There is something bothering you, Lord Chieftain." Gornock stated he and Lucius entered the cart.
Lucius sighed. "Indeed. My father has decided to become involved in my family's affairs again. He has organized a betrothal contract with House Parkinson."
Gornock grunted. "Your father is a disgusting excuse for a human, and a stain on your noble bloodline." Gornock adjusted with some leavers and the cart set off at a pleasant pace. "No offence." Gornock added.
"Please, you meant all of the offence." Lucius laughed.
"Ha! Indeed." There was a pause before Gornock continued. "So, what do you plan on doing?"
Lucius sighed once again and thought on the question. Today, it seemed, was a day of reminiscing on the past. Once Lucius had started Hogwarts, he acted just as was expected of him: a pompous pureblood heir to a prominent family who was sorted into Slytherin. To all, he would be another Malfoy with grand ambition. His first year was full of scheming, manipulating, and alliance forging which would allow the young Malfoy to pass the next years of Hogwarts and beyond with strong familial alliances. But when he returned home after first year as not the best in class, Abraxas had been irrationally mad. It led to a long session of Cruciatus therapy. Lucius had never forgiven his father after that moment.
When the Dark Lord had risen shortly after, Abraxas had been all too happy to volunteer his family and its wealth to the cause. Lucius had joined the Death Eaters after his graduation in an effort to prove himself to his father, and while Abraxas was proud that Lucius was finally beginning to act as a proper pureblood, Lucius had quickly begun to regret ever joining. The murders, raids, crimes of absolute degeneracy, none of it was how a proper pureblood was meant to act. When Gringotts had revealed his heritage to him and he made his oath, Lucius began to silently work from within to save as many people as he could. Lucius had acted well enough in Voldemort's eyes to be admitted into the Dark Lords inner circle, which thankfully meant that he wasn't required to be on raids, but instead became privy to the planning processes.
He had discovered early on that Severus Snape was a double agent for Dumbledore, which afforded him a unique opportunity. While he did not trust Dumbledore in the slightest, he knew that Severus was somewhat trustworthy. Adopting the alias Python, Lucius began to pass valuable information to Severus in secret using enchanted notes. When the Dark Lord had finally fallen, Lucius felt like he had finally gained his freedom, but Abraxas once again had to involve himself. And when Draco was born, Abraxas become obsessed with the newborn Malfoy.
Shaking off thoughts of the past and focusing back on the traveling cart, Lucius responded to Gornock.
"I plan on doing what is right for my family." Lucius stated with resolve.
The cart began to slow down as the duo arrived at the stop. Gornock opened the side door to allow Lucius to step out onto the station platform. Every time Lucius came to the Goblin city, he was always amazed at the architecture and culture that the Goblins had built for themselves. He was escorted down alleyway's and through the doors of the Palace of the Mountain King, traveling towards the main hall where Ragnuk would most defiantly be waiting for him.
Sure enough, Ragnuk was seated in his high back throne discussing issues of the Goblin Nation. Seeing Lucius arriving, Ragnuk stood up, causing the other Goblins to bow before their King.
"I believe it is time for a recess, my Lords. We shall reconvene in one hour." Ragnuk started walking towards Lucius, who bowed his head in respect, while Gornock leaves the room to wait by the entrance.
"Lucius, my friend. What brings you here on this fine day?" Ragnuk states. Lucius smiles slightly.
"Good day, Ragnuk. I need to retrieve somethings from the Sheikah vault, although it appears I interrupted something important."
"Oh, think nothing of it. I was looking for any reason to take a break, running a kingdom has its tedious times. Be lucky you don't have to worry about such things." Ragnuk said heartedly.
"If that's the case, then maybe I should sneak you into a Wizengamot meeting, and you can tell me whether I'm lucky." Lucius replied humorously.
Ragnuk started leading Lucius to the five vaults. During the walk, Ragnuk and Lucius spoke about a variety of topics ranging from new laws the Wizengamot was attempting to pass, to the status of Gringotts branches around the world. Arriving at the vault, Ragnuk held out a knife for Lucius, who sliced his hand with it. Wiping his hand on the doors of the vault and healing the cut with a wave of his wand, Lucius stepped through the open door and walked towards one of the bookcases at the back of the room, while Ragnuk stood at the entrance. While Lucius searched through the shelves looking for a particular book, Ragnuk thought for a moment before speaking.
"Tell me Lucius, in your tomes, have you read about the Cursed Prince yet?"
Thinking for a moment, Lucius answered. "I have, yes. Impa described him in detail in volume four of 'The Hyrule Historia'."
"And what are your thoughts on him?" Ragnuk asked curiously.
"He was clearly a powerful man, someone who loved his people and who suffered quite a lot throughout his life." Lucius answered.
"He was quite an interesting person, someone who always tried to do the impossible for the sake of his people." Ragnuk looked down for a moment, before walking away.
By this time, Lucius had collected the books he needed. He looked towards the table with daggers laying on them. Picking up one of them, he admired it for a moment. It had a dark blade made of tarnished Hylian Steel that was as half the size of a stiletto dagger that led into a tiny guard. The handle was wrapped in a dark blue dyed leather, and ended in a flat pommel. The blade shimmered when held at an angle, indicating that it was enchanted, but by what Lucius didn't know. He would have to ask Ragnuk.
Having what he needed, Lucius exited the vault. The doors closed behind him, leaving an insignia of the Sheikah Eye on the doors. He looked around for Ragnuk, who was standing at the next vault door, which was down the hall. Walking over to him, he looked at the symbol on the doors. He recognized it instantly from his reading. Wings spread wide, two clawed feet below, and three triangles above it, this was the symbol of the Royal Family of Hyrule. Ragnuk spoke up when Lucius got close.
"Vault 004. This vault belongs to the Cursed Prince, although he has never seen it before." Ragnuk explained.
Lucius looked sharply towards the vault. The Cursed Prince was one of his favourite topics to read about in his ancestor's tomes. The boy who had to become a man quickly, who faced adversary from within and without his Kingdom, but was able to stand straight and protect his people. He had read about the illness he had suffered, and how he didn't let it stop him from doing what was right, even if it was not easy. Were he to be honest, Lucius would say that the Cursed Prince of Old Hyrule was somewhat of an idle of his; someone who protected his people, even if it costed his life.
"What do you mean he has never seen it?" Lucius asked.
"The prince disappeared twenty years before the Calamity, and this vault was made only six months before the end. His sister, the Last High Queen, had most of his personal effects placed into this vault, the things that were not sealed away in his chambers, and asked the Ragnuk of the time to hold it for him in the event he returned." There was a pause for a moment. "Before leaving to continue his training, the prince sealed his room behind a powerful bounded field, with a ward stronger than anything we know of. Anything that was left outside of the room was placed in here which, surprisingly, is quite a few of his personal and valuable possessions. Goblin investigators surmised that the items within his room are simple mementos and keepsakes, meaning the items contained within this vault are some of the most powerful and dangerous items known to our kind." Ragnuk finished, equal parts worry and awe tainting his voice.
Lucius thought before he spoke. "Ragnuk, it's been thousands of years, millions even, since the prince disappeared. He would have died by now, even with a Hylians long lifespan."
"And that is the reason why this vault remains active. If there is one thing I have learned about Hylians is that they are hard to kill, especially members of the Royal Family. A body was never found, and so he remains missing in action." Ragnuk replied.
"You know," Lucius started. "I think this is the first time I have heard you speak of a Hylian without a scowl on your face."
Ragnuk's face darkened slightly. "There are Hylians alive today, Lucius. And these modern Hylians are traitors to their kind. The new rulers that took over when the Royal Family disappeared demand servitude of us, violated our ancient alliance, and so we fought a long war. We won, and now there is a standing rule in every Gringotts in the world: if a Hylian enters our doors, they are brought before me to be executed like the scum they are."
"But what if you are right, and the Cursed Prince is still alive? What if he walks into Gringotts looking for help from his old allies? No living Goblin remembers what he looks like, and you would end up executing the prince." Lucius stated in rebuttal.
Ragnuk smiled sadly. "Do not worry, Lord Chieftain, we would know if our prince walked in. And you, as Sheikahn, would know if you were in the presence of a Royal decedent of Hylia."

Lucius walked through the open foyer doors to the main hall of his manor, his house elf Dobby following close behind, giving Lucius updates from the day.
"Dobby has made sure Master Braxy is comfortable in his rooms, and Master Draco is getting ready for beddytime, Master Lucy!" Dobby stated.
Lucius smiled. "Thank you, Dobby. And where is Narcissa?"
"Mistress Cissy be visiting her mistress Black, Master Lucy. Mistress Black be sickly, and Mistress Cissy be helping her." Dobby replied.
"Very good, Dobby. You may have the rest of the night off. Make sure to have our regular breakfast ready for tomorrow."
"Yes sir, Master Lucy. Will Master Braxy be joining you and Master Draco for breakyfast?" Dobby Enquired.
Lucius paused for a moment. "No, I don't think he will be, Dobby. He is quite sick."
Dobby bowed, his long nose touching the floor, before a subdued CRACK indicated his disapparition. Lucius walked towards his den and upon reaching it, went towards the bookcase closest to his desk and deposited the books he retrieved from the vault on the shelf. He then went over to a decanter on a drawing table, filled a glass with the amber liquid, and downed it quickly. He closed his eyes for a moment, before he threw the crystal glass at the opposite wall in anger. After a moment, he flicked his wand to vanish the broken glass and walked towards to the door, leaving the den towards the staircase. He walked to the second floor of the west wing, and walked towards his son's room. As he approached, he heard voices.
"… and the Dark Lord promised to ensure all of the purebloods would return to their proper place as leaders of the world. Oh, I wish that you were able to meet him, Draco. The Dark Lord would have loved to have you in his service." Hearing enough of Abraxas talk about the Dark Lord, Lucius opened the door and walked in.
"That is enough stories for one night, father. Draco needs his sleep." Lucius said abruptly. Abraxas looked towards his son annoyed.
"Very well Lucius." He looked towards Draco with a smile. "Don't worry, Draco. Your father will be at the Wizengamot, and that means I can tell you wonderful stories about the Dark Lord, and we can have a fun day together. Doesn't that sound grand, Draco?" Abraxas said, rubbing Draco's leg, a motion that was not missed by the increasingly angering Lucius
"Yes grandfather." Draco said.
Abraxas stood up and walked out of the room, paying no mind to Lucius. Lucius walked to his son's bedside.
"What were you talking about, Draco?" Lucius asked kindly.
"Grandfather was telling me about the Dark Lord and all of the good things he did." Draco said enthusiastically, albeit sleepily.
"I see." Lucius stated. His look growing darker, he continued. "Draco, grandfather didn't do anything… strange, did he? You two just spoke, yes?"
"Yes father, he told me stories about how you helped the Dark Lord save us." Draco responded.
Lucius sighed. "Draco, there are some things that your too young to know about. But I want you to know that not everything about the Dark Lord was good. He did hurt people that didn't deserve it. But now is not the time, go to sleep Draco, and I'll see you tomorrow." Lucius kissed his son's brow, and Draco snuggled into the blankets. Lucius walked out of the room, now committed on his path.
Lucius walked down the staircase towards the main lounge where Abraxas most defiantly having a nightcap. Sure enough, there the monster sat, drinking port out of a schooner while reading the Evening Prophet. Noticing Lucius' approach, Abraxas put down the paper and glass, and stood up, leaning on his cane.
"Lucius, did you get me my potions?" Abraxas asked.
"Indeed father." Lucius paused. "Tell me, was it all worth it?" Lucius asked seriously
"What are you talking about, Lucius?" Abraxas asked uninterestedly.
"Serving the Dark Lord. All those raids, the murders, kissing the feet of that monster, only for him to be killed by a baby. Was it all worth it?" Lucius asked confidently.
"Be careful what you say, boy! The Dark Lord was a great and powerful wizard who worked to progress all purebloods to their proper place! And when he returns-"
"The Dark Lord is dead, Abraxas!" Lucius shouted, walking closer to his father. "He died like the pathetic snake he was. You and the other Death Eaters that conspire in the shadows, waiting for his return, you are all mad!"
With a look of rage, Abraxas backhands Lucius. "You are a traitor to your kind, boy. You are not worthy of your name, of your blood, or of the Dark Lord's favour!"
Getting up after falling from being backhanded, Lucius looks towards his father with righteous rage. "It is you, Abraxas, who is the traitor to our kind! You sold our family to that inhuman monster when we could have avoided it all! And now you try to get close to my son to fulfill your sick needs to relive the old days!"
Abraxas walked towards the now standing Lucius. "I am done accommodating you, boy. The moment I am able, you will be removed from our family and banished forever. I will be taking Draco as my heir and raise him to be the man you should have been. He and I shall be spending many hours of quality time together."
Seeing Abraxas' sickening smile, he acted. Lucius moved forward a step, coming very close to Abraxas. With a jerk of his hand, the Sheikah dagger he had retrieved from the vault slid into his hand, and he plunged it into Abraxas, just below his bottom rib. With a surprised gasp, Abraxas grabbed the hand holding the dagger and looked into Lucius' steeled eyes.
"You will die here, Abraxas, and my family will never again be a slave to the Dark Lord." Lucius stepped back, withdrawing the dagger. He twirled his wand, healing the stab wound and damaged clothes. Abraxas looked at the place where the wound was, no longer feeling any pain, and then towards Lucius in confusion, who held up the dagger.
"This is a Sheikahn Shade Dagger. It is old, incredibly old. It was used by our ancient ancestors to assassinate dissidents at the behest of a family of Royals. This particular dagger is enchanted to enhance the effects of poisons and sicknesses."
As Lucius spoke, Abraxas started coughing and sneezing. His skin started turning a sickening green with spots; the tell-tale sign of someone deeply affected with Dragon pox.
"After all, the best kind of assassination is one that looks like a natural death." Lucius started walking back away from his rapidly deteriorating father. It would not do to be infected with Dragon Pox, after all.
Upon realising that he had been effectively killed by his son, Abraxas growled out curses and threats in anger. Dropping his cane and collapsing on the floor, screamed in anger, as Lucius turned and walked away.
"Farewell Abraxas. Know in your dying moments that everything you valued and achieved in life will be taken apart, piece by piece. After all, it would be in bad faith to allow your monstrous legacy to continue." Hearing the screams grow silent, Lucius stopped for a moment, and sighed, "And if the Malfoy family has learned anything, it is how to remove bad faith from our hallowed name." and then continued walking towards his den. He closed the door behind him and hid the dagger in a drawer under his desk. He then walked over to the fireplace, a pot of sparkling green powder hanging from the mantle. He took a handful of the powder, and threw it into the fireplace.
"Severus Snape." The fire changed to green, and Lucius heard a reply.
"Lucius, what is so important that you need to- "
"My father is dead." Lucius interrupted. "I need your help."
A moment of silence. "I shall be there in a moment."
After a few moments, Lucius watched as the fire flared green, and Severus stepped out. "What happened, Lucius."
"Abraxas died; his Dragon Pox suddenly got severally worse." Lucius replied calmly.
Severus crossed his arms and cocked an eyebrow. "And what actually happened, Lucius?"
Lucius smiled sardonically. "I found a dagger that would aggravate his symptoms, and I stabbed him with it. He died when the Dragon Pox overtook him quickly."
"I see. And what do you require my help with?" Severus asked neutrally.
"I will organize for a healer to collect him tomorrow, and will say he died in his sleep. I need your help to ensure that the healer thinks nothing is amiss." Lucius stated. "Will you help me, Severus."
Severus closed his eyes for a moment before nodding. "Very well. I shall return in a moment; I will need my equipment."
/Flashback End/
Shaking his head from the reminiscing state he had been in, Lucius cast Tempus. Seeing that it was getting late, Severus stood.
"Well Lucius, I need to head home, and I believe your guest will be arriving soon." Severus stated.
"Indeed. It's always a pleasure to have you, old friend." Lucius said as he shook Severus' hand. Severus walked over to the fireplace, threw in some Floo Powder, and travelled home.
There was a knock on the den's door. "Master Lucy, sir. Dobby be tells you that yous guest is here now, sir." Dobby said.
"Thank you, Dobby. Tell Draco that our guest is here, I shall be there shortly." Lucius replied.
Lucius walked to the door, opened it, and left it. He walked towards the entrance hall where his guest was waiting, where Lucius noticed he was admiring the statuary and artwork.
The guest was not someone one would be expecting to receive for dinner. He was a boy of the same age as Draco, ten years old. He was dressed in black finery, decorated with red, hypnotically moving, crescent shaped swirls. Simple gold embroidery decorated down the front of his knee length tunic, with the crest of his house on his back. His hair was black as night, and his skin was pale in an elegant way. He had small pointed ears that were poking out of his hair slightly; shorter than the females of his race. In his hand he held a mask. The mask was haunting in its quality, and depicted the boys own face on it. Popping out of the boy's collar, was a white snake with black diamond shaped scales; the boy was hissing in Parseltongue while gesturing towards the art and statues. They were clearly having a discussion about them. Noticing Lucius' approach, the boy turned and smiled towards the man. Lucius noted the boy's eyes, a sight that still gave him chills. The boy's eyes were red with slitted pupils.
Walking towards Lucius, the boy spoke elegantly. "Good evening, Lucius. Thank you for inviting me for dinner."
"Of course, sire. It is my honour, and Draco was very enthused at having his friend and teacher join us, and I speak for all of House Malfoy, thank you for allowing us to celebrate your birthday with you." Lucius bowed his head slightly while smiling.
The boy sighed humorously. "Please Lucius, just Harry. You know I hate titles outside of formal settings."
A/N: ANOTHER CHAPTER DOOOOOONE! AND ANOTHER SURPRISE! Who expected to see Harry back in England before the Twilight Princess Arc was over? I hope this chapter was a fun one to read. Make sure to check out the explanations down below for some meta work!
Lucius Malfoy – Due to a plot point I love, the Malfoy Family is not GOOD, but they are redeemed. Lucius only joined the DE's because he wanted to prove himself to his father, but grew to regret it quickly. He then found out that the Malfoy family is directly descendent from the Sheikah Clan of Hyrule, specifically through Impa. Lucius then became a spy, sent info to Severus who sent that info to Dumbledore, and then Lucius did what he could to both protect his family, and locate other members the lost races (Sheikah, Zora, Hylian, Gerudo, all them.)
Draco Malfoy – Draco is a demigod! And yes, a demigod of Hecate, who is important to this story. I won't be saying how Harry and Draco met yet until after the TP saga ends, but I will say that Harry is a friend and mentor to Draco, teaching Draco stuff. Not telling what yet.
TRIGGER WARNING FOR ABRAXAS SEGMENT
Abraxas Malfoy – I needed to kill him off to show that Lucius really was redeemed. Trigger warning coming for the Abraxas segment, you have been warned. Abraxas was a lover of Voldies regime, and that meant he was quite enthusiastic in committing the crimes other death eaters did. That includes murder, torcher, and yes, rape. Through his work as a Death Eaters however, Abraxas grew a particular interest in children. Fill in the gaps yourself. In this chapter, it was suggested that if Abraxas was able to claim guardianship of Draco, he would be indulging in his perversions. But Lucius killed him. In canon, he died of Dragon Pox. So, I adapted it. Also, every time I read his dialogue I hear Charles Dance in my head.
TRIGGER WARNING ENDED
Sheikahn Dagger – NOT an original creation. All credit for the design of this dagger goes to JKalinad, creator of the Relics of Hyrule mod for Skyrim SE. If you need a visual reference, google Sheikah Dagger Relics of Hyrule. The part that I came up with is the enchantment.
Ragnuk the Third – This guy is important, and will make many more appearances. That's all I can tell you now, but I have explained what the title Ragnuk means in a previous chapter.
Lucius' Coin – The coin that Lucius gives to the goblin to prove that he was who he said he was is the BOTW pre-order bonus coin so google that if u need a visual.
Dobby – While I have made the Malfoy family good in private, they still act as they do in canon in public. Dobby knows of this deception and being the eccentric that he is, goes along with it. In private he is cared quite well, and wears clean pillows sheets and the like, but while in public, he has a role to play, so dresses in dirty rags and gets hit by the Malfoy's as canon.
The five Gringotts Vaults – These are essentially plot devices. I needed to have a way for specific characters receive specific items. Five vaults for five people. Guess who!
Bounded Fields (reminder) – A Ward and a Bounded Field are the same thing. A Ward is a spell that covers an area in protective magic, while a bounded field Is the specific boundary of the ward. In the example of Harry's Chambers, the bounded field is his chamber door and the windows. Bounded fields can be turned on or off to allow people through without collapsing the entire ward. Without a ward, you can't have a bounded field. Without a bounded field, you can't have a ward. In simple terms, Wards are walls, bounded fields are locked doors. Only the caster of the ward and whoever they tell knows the exact location of where these doors are.
The Goblin's war against the modern Hylians – Major plot point. There are Hylians alive in modern times, and so are some other races, but that's all your getting for now.
Harry's Mask – As suggested in the previous chapter, sometime after then and before the end of the TP saga, Harry learned mask making from the Happy Mask Salesman. What does Harry's mask do when he wears it? That's a secret, but there are enough clues in this chapter for you guys to work it out. The clue I'll give you HERE however, is that by at least 1990, Harry is a Hylian in a world where Hylians are hidden away, so what would the mask do for him? Let me know in a review, a DM, or over on Twitter!
