Seiya typed furiously into the computer that sat in front of him. Silas sat next to the other teenager, communicating with Kai and Sarah while Seiya was busy. Typing on the computer, Seiya was able to create a communications line to HQ.
"What's wrong?" Cynthia immediately asked over the line. She knew something was very wrong, since the group had no reason or plan to contact her during the mission. Losing his cool, Seiya began to go off on a rant.
"Your shit intel was wrong! Nine isn't alone! You were wrong Cynthia! We're screwed here-" Silas stopped Seiya from talking, raising his hand. "Breathe." Silas simply told Seiya, who complied. While Seiya sat there taking deep breaths attempting to calm himself, Silas began speaking to Cynthia, informing her of the situation.
"Nine didn't come alone. She arrived alongside four cars, each containing about four Chaos soldiers. Each of them are armed with different types of firearms and weapons. The tall soldier is here as well. The one Kai fought in Oreburgh City." Silas pointed out, unsure of the super soldier's name.
"Agent Steel too? Fuck, this is bad. Connect me to everyone's earpiece. I need to speak with everyone"
At this point, Seiya had calmed down again. He did what Cynthia asked, creating a secure communication line between the group and Cynthia. After a few seconds, the line was established.
"Everyone, it's Cynthia. I know things aren't going as planned." Cynthia stated to the group, a tinge of panic seeping through her voice. "No shit." Kai muttered out loud, extremely frustrated at how screwed they were.
"I've already sent a helicopter to evacuate you guys. Forget the necklace. There's too many Chaos soldiers there. I need you guys to regroup with each other. Do not engage with Chaos unless you have to! Reinforcements are on their way. Just hold on a little while until we can get you all out of there!" Cynthia finished, before leaving the communications room in HQ. She needed to get things sorted out. "How could they have know we were going to be there?" Cynthia thought to herself, thinking of answers. There was only one that stuck out to her. "We have a mole in Project Giratina…" Cynthia cursed.
Kai and Sarah prepared themselves, making sure they had everything they needed before leaving the room. They needed to regroup with Seiya and Silas. If they were spread out, they would be picked apart by the small army of Chaos soldiers. Kai already had notified Seiya that they would be the ones to move to them. The group agreed that it was safer that way. Sarah and Kai were stronger trainers than the other two. Kai was also the most experienced and easily the best fighter.
Sarah rubbed her hands nervously, staring at the ground in front of her. The mission was a disaster. Hell, the mission was screwed right from the start! She was snapped out of her thoughts when she heard Kai talking to her.
"Hey, we're gonna be okay." Kai told her calmly. Sarah remained looking at the ground, regretting taking the mission. Kai grabbed her face softly with both hands, gently lifting it to make her eyes meet his.
"We're perfectly fine Sarah. I'm not gonna let anything happen to you. I promise." Kai told the girl, who nodded at these words, placing her hand on top of Kai's. The two trainers regrouped, before preparing to reach the Surveillance room inside the Museum. Kai pulled up his hood, before opening the door and leading the way. Kai let Lucario out of his pokeball, understanding that they would be safer with him alongside them. Understanding the situation, Lucario followed behind Kai closely, with Sarah behind Lucario.
The trio had to somehow make it to the second floor and across the floor in order to reach Seiya and Silas. They also had to do this without being seen, since it would only make their jobs harder. The trio passed through the dark rooms throughout the Museum. Just in case there was any doubt that Chaos wasn't in the Museum, a group of eight soldiers walked into the dark room the trio was in. The soldiers had flashlights attached to their waists, shining light directly in front of them. Kai and Sarah cursed, ducking behind a glass case to hide. Lucario was separated from the two, standing in the shadows behind a vertical brown crate. "This was bad." Kai thought, not seeing a way to escape the soldiers without fighting them.
The eight Chaos soldiers scanned around the room, armed with their small handheld electrical bars. Seeing no way out, Kai spoke to Lucario and Sarah using his aura.
"I'm going to take out the two soldiers to the left of Sarah and I. Lucario, get ready to fight. Once I attack first, get ready to send out your Pokemon Sarah." Kai told the two. Sarah nodded in front of him, while Lucario agreed, using his aura to communicate with Kai. Using his aura to sense when the soldier would turn in front of him, Kai waited a second before throwing an aura sphere, hitting the soldier suddenly and creating an echoing noise across the Museum. The other seven soldiers panicked, tossing out their Pokemon. Only five soldiers were able to do so, with Lucario knocking out two soldiers swiftly with Close Combat. Sarah stood up, sending out her Slowbro to help them. Kai sent out one of his Pokemon as well. Tyranitar appeared out of the pokeball, roaring loudly while staring down his enemies.
The five soldiers sent out several Pokemon. Weezing, Seviper, Gengar, Houndoom, and Crawdaunt appeared out of their respective pokeballs. While Tyranitar, Slowbro, and Lucario were slightly outnumbered, the three Pokemon were way more powerful than the soldiers Pokemon. Kai smirked confidently, knowing that their Pokemon would be defeated rather quickly. His smirk fell, however, when he saw even more soldiers appear from the hallway, sending out their Pokemon.
"Sarah, you're going to have to battle with my Tyranitar as well. Lucario and I will take out the soldiers!" Kai said quickly, not giving her time to respond since he was already throwing aura spheres at the soldiers, taking them out slowly. Not wasting any time, Sarah began calling out orders.
"Alright Tyranitar, use Stone Edge on Weezing and Seviper! Slowbro, Hydro Pump on Houndour!" Sarah ordered, pointing towards the opposing Pokemon. Tyranitar sent out a number of sharp rocks, connecting with Weezing and Seviper. The Pokemon almost fainted due to this one attack, but still held on. Slowbro was able to hit Houndour with Hydro Pump, knocking him out. However, Slowbro was hit hard by a Shadow Claw from Gengar, sending it back a few feet.
Seeing that Crawdaunt was about to use Hydro Pump, Sarah ordered another attack. "Tyranitar, use Hyper Beam to overpower the hydro pump!"
Tyranitar obeyed her orders, sending out a flash of energy at Crawdaunt. Crawdaunt was able to send out his hydro pump, but it was quickly overpowered by Kai's Pokemon. Crawdaunt was blasted into the wall, fainting as a result of the attack. So far, the battle was going well.
Kai moved with ease, attacking the Chaos soldiers closely and finishing them in seconds. His training was paying off. Kai had not even been touched yet. Lucario and Kai had already knocked out about twelve soldiers and still counting. Seeing that there were now about nine Pokemon facing Tyranitar and Slowbro, Kai ordered Lucario to help them out. Lucario was hesitant, but agreed after seeing how Sarah was slowly becoming more outnumbered as time progressed.
Sensing an attack, Kai turned around and caught the arm of a Chaos agent, who was swinging a small knife downwards at Kai. Kai broke his arm swiftly, with the soldier screaming loudly, writhing in pain. The aura user then elbowed him in the face, before rolling to the side to avoid another soldier swinging a bigger blade at him. Having to react so quickly, Kai didn't notice the 6'8 soldier he dove next to. Before Kai had time to look, Agent Steel punched Kai across the face, stunning him effectively and also drawing blood. Agent Steel then threw Kai like a ragdoll through one of the glass cases. The glass case immediately shattered once Kai made impact with it. The glass made all kinds of sharp cuts on Kai's body. Sarah glanced at Kai worryingly but didn't have the time to help him, since she was already dealing with the Pokemon side of the battle. Seeing several Pokemon rush towards a tired Slowbro, Sarah called out another attack.
"Tyranitar, use Earthquake!" Sarah ordered, knowing it wasn't the wisest decision. Tyranitar stomped on the ground harshly, shaking the ground extremely. The Pokemon stumbled and were damaged by this attack. While it immobilized the Pokemon more than hurt them, a few Pokemon fainted as a result of the attack.
Agent Steel was about to throw one of his handheld knives at Kai's body, winding back his arm. Just when the large soldier was about to throw the projectile, the ground shook furiously, making Agent Steel miss Kai's head by a few inches, sticking to the ground next to Kai's head. Kai was slow to get off the ground, still recovering from the hard punch that connected to his face. The aura user was pissed though, seeing who was in front of him, now unsheathing his large blade. Kai formed his Bo Staff using his aura, before charging at Snorlax.
Steel swung his sword at Kai, who dodged the strike by sliding past it. Sliding past the strike, Kai hit the soldier's leg hard, hearing something crack. Steel grunted in pain, but did not fall. Kai then swung the Bo Staff at the taller man's head. Unfortunately for Kai, Agent Steel caught the weapon with one hand. Barely sensing his movement in time, Kai was able to take a step back as Steel swept his sword through the air. Even with Kai taking a step back, Steel managed to cut Kai's chest pretty badly. The cut wasn't too deep, but it also wasn't a papercut. Kai cursed, holding his chest in one hand while he held his other fight out in a fighting stance. The two exchanged punches and blows for a minute, neither using any weapons or tricks. After trading blows for a while, Steel managed to land a good punch across Kai's face, knocking him onto the floor hard.
From the floor, the trainer witnessed the battling scene that was taking place. Lucario, Tyranitar, Slowbro, and now Talonflame were winning the fight, even though more soldiers had appeared, commanding their Pokemon. Sarah and Kai's Pokemon only had to defeat the remaining six Pokemon. Sarah stood behind her Pokemon, yelling orders passionately while remaining focused on the battle. Due to being extremely focused on the battle, Sarah failed to notice Special Agent Nine entering the room, holding a curved blade in each hand. Kai saw Nine wind back her arm, twisting the weapon expertly as she prepared to throw the lethal weapon towards Sarah. Kai's eyes opened wide at this, knowing that if he didn't intervene, Sarah would be struck by the blade.
The aura user formed a small aura shield in front of him, blocking Steel's strike. Kai then threw an aura sphere, hitting Steel directly in the face, immobilizing him for the time being. Using his aura skills to move quicker, Kai was able to get up. At this point, Nine was about to throw the weapon, her arm behind her head holding the blade. Pushing his legs as fast as they could go, Kai rushed to push Sarah out of the way. Kai was only a few feet away before Nine threw the blade, heading straight towards Sarah's neck. Not thinking, Kai dove in front of Sarah, tackling her to the ground. The knife hit Kai, digging into the young man's right shoulder. Moaning in pain, Kai tore the blade out of his shoulder, blood seeping out of the wound at an alarming rate. Sarah was frozen on the floor still, the events that just occurred not registering with her. Kai then threw one of his smoke grenades on the floor, knowing that he was not able to fight at the moment. Sensing his trainer in danger, Lucario used his aura to navigate through the smoke, grabbing Kai and Sarah before dragging them upstairs and into a room alone. Along the way, Kai and Sarah pressed Tyranitar, Slowbro, and Talonflame's pokeballs, returning them. The first priority right now was regrouping and making sure Kai was okay.
The trio was able to escape Special Agents Nine and Steel, entering an unknown office before locking the door behind them. Considering themselves out of danger for now, Kai slid onto the floor, holding his shoulder. He was losing blood quickly. Seeing Kai fall to the floor, Sarah rushed to his aid, pressing a bandage to his shoulder to try and slow the bleeding.
"Kai are you ok?! Why would you do that!?" Sarah screamed at Kai, not wanting to believe the trainer had jumped in front of her to save her. Rather than responding, Kai grunted in pain, his head hanging low as he sat against the door. Sarah had tears in her eyes, moving quickly in an attempt to stop the bleeding from Kai's shoulder wound. After a few minutes of this, Sarah and Kai heard Cynthia through the Communications Line.
"Guys, the helicopter evacuating you guys is ten minutes away. I need you all to meet up together and reach the roof of Snowpoint Museum. The helicopter will pick you guys up there!" Cynthia said urgently, before cutting off the line, not having time to wait for a response. Sarah ignored Cynthia's orders, still tending to Kai's wound. After a moment, Kai grabbed Sarah's wrist, pulling it away from his shoulder. Slowly, Kai lifted himself up before standing with the support of the wall on his back.
"Sarah, I need you to meet up with Seiya and Silas. Once you do, go to the roof like Cynthia said." Kai told Sarah seriously, his blue eyes meeting her brown eyes. Sarah shook her head, refusing to leave the black haired boy.
"I'm serious Sarah. I'm going to hold them off for a little bit. Lucario is going to come with you. I'll be ok. I still have my other five Pokemon on me." Kai reasoned with her, holding her hand gently. Sarah still refused, grabbing Kai's face with both hands.
"I'm not leaving you alone Kai! We're getting out of this together!" Sarah screamed, becoming frustrated and desperate.
"Lucario, take her and go. Don't come back for me. I'll meet you guys at the roof when I'm done." Kai told Lucario, who nodded reluctantly. While Lucario didn't like the idea, he refused to disobey his trainer. The canine had the utmost trust in Kai. Whatever Kai wanted Lucario to do, he would do it without any questions asked. That's just how much the two respected and trusted each other.
"Wait no! Don't you dare Kai!" Sarah cried to Kai, struggling against Lucario as he lifted her onto his shoulder effortlessly before carrying her out of the room. Kai sighed in frustration once Lucario and Sarah left the room. While it wasn't something Kai wanted to do, he had to make sure Sarah was safe and was able to make it onto the roof. With Lucario, the trainer was positive they would be able to make it safely. Kai would also be buying them time by holding off Nine and Steel as long as he could. The others just had to deal with the grunts. Kai tore the hoodie from the top of his head, now just wearing his armored black jumpsuit. Kai then equipped one of his pokeballs, preparing himself for battle.
"Marshadow, use Shadow Punch on Skuntank!" Seiya ordered his Pokemon. Marshadow moved quickly, hitting Skuntank in the chest before he had any time to dodge.
"Mothim, use Psybeam." Silas commanded. Mothim sent out a pink beam of energy, hitting Skuntank again. Skuntank struggled to get up once again, before eventually slipping onto the floor, unable to battle. The two trainers had been battling a few grunts for ten minutes now. They had just defeated the last soldier once again, but knew it was only a matter of time before new Chaos agents appeared. Seiya grabbed his hair frustrated.
"Where could Kai and Sarah possibly be? They should have been here by now!" Seiya exclaimed.
"I believe we need to consider the possibility that something happened to them, Seiya. You saw how many Chaos soldiers there were at the entrance. They've most likely been overwhelmed by the small army." Silas stated realistically, not showing any emotion. Just when Seiya was about to argue with this, a Mightyena leaped at the two boys using Thunder Fang. The two teenagers froze, waiting for the Pokemon to hit them.
"Slowbro, use Psychic!" Sarah ordered, appearing with Lucario from out of nowhere. Slowbro used Psychic, freezing the Pokemon midair, before throwing it into the wall, knocking it out. Sarah and Lucario jogged towards the two boys, with Sarah having a very pissed off look on her face. Lucario was the one who first spoke.
"Master ordered us to regroup with you guys and head to the roof without him. He assured us that he would be joining us. He's going to buy us some time from Agent Steel and Special Agent Nine." Lucario stated to Seiya and Silas.
"There's no way Kai intends to join us at the helicopter. He's going to be overwhelmed by Chaos. Nine and Steel are too much to handle alone." Silas said to the group, firmly believing that Kai was not intending to leave with them. Sarah's eyes teared up at this. She had refused to let Kai be alone for this exact same reason. As amazing as Kai was, Sarah knew that he was careless and reckless at times. He didn't assess the risks he took often. Even when he did, he risked his safety to help others. The boy even had a hero complex, always needing to be the one to save the others. While he was good at it, Sarah's heart dropped, not wanting Kai to suffer due to his actions.
"Well, we have no choice but to follow his orders. Kai is still the leader of the group. Nothing's changed. Besides, Cynthia told us to do the exact same thing. We're just doing it without Kai since he's going to hold them off for a little before joining us." Seiya stated passionately, believing that Kai was going to meet them at the roof when the helicopter did arrive. While Silas disagreed with Seiya, he didn't show it, nodding at the sixteen year old. Together, the group began to make their way to the roof, battling Chaos soldiers who got in the way.
Kai stumbled to the third floor lobby. Once there, Kai caught sight of Agent Nine, now carrying a small necklace of Giratina's crown. Kai cursed, realizing that this was the second piece of Death's Crown". Special Agent Nine turned towards Kai, smiling wickedly at the aura user.
"I was wondering why I couldn't read your thoughts Kai. I knew you were a special young man. But certainly not this special. An aura user. Now that is a rare skill." Nine stated, pacing around the room without looking at Kai. Kai stared at the woman, confused by her words. "You're an incredibly strong Aura User. However, I will emerge victorious today. I refuse to let you best me!" Nine yelled, throwing one of her blades at Kai's head. Kai was able to barely dodge the blade. The metal projectile sliced past Kai's face, slightly grazing his cheek and drawing a line of blood. Kai gathered himself once again, before responding to the woman. He couldn't let her leave with the necklace. While Kai had to stop her, he also had to watch out for Snorlax, noticing that he was not present in the room.
"Sorry beautiful, but I can't let you leave with that. If you say please, maybe I'll consider it." Kai told Nine mockingly, hoping to strike a nerve. The violet haired woman snarled at Kai, baring her teeth in anger. Kai laughed at her reaction, sending out his Typhlosion to aid him. In response, Nine sent out one of her Pokemon, her Electivire. Without saying anything, Electivire used Thunderbolt, hitting Typhlosion directly and catching Kai and his fire type Pokemon off guard. "What the hell?" The young man thought to himself, confused that Electivire attacked without saying anything. It was only a second later that Electivire charged forward with his arm glowing, using Brick Break.
"Typhlosion, use Flamethrower followed by Rollout!" Kai commanded, prepared this time. Electivire was stopped suddenly by the Flamethrower connecting with him. Electivire screeched in pain until he was then hit by Rollout, sending him sliding across the floor. Electivire got up quickly, nowhere close to being done. "Shit, her Pokemon are definitely well trained." Kai thought to himself, preparing for a long battle. For several minutes, Typhlosion and Electivire fought. Typhlosion had the advantage, winning the fight but Electivire wasn't making it easy. Special Agent Nine hadn't commanded Electivire the whole battle, making it more difficult to decipher what the opposing Pokemon was doing. Electivire jumped up, intending to use another Brick Break, before Kai ordered Typhlosion once again.
"Now's your chance! Use Blast Burn!" Kai yelled out to his Pokemon. Typhlosion obeyed, letting out a large blast of fire, hitting Electivire hard. Electivire fell to the floor fainted, not getting up anytime soon. Nine frowned at Kai, disappointed that she was defeated in battle.
"You may have won the battle Kai, but I am still stronger than you. You will learn that your team can do nothing to stop me." Nine spoke darkly, glaring at Kai. In response, Kai simply flicked her off. With her Pokemon knocked out, Kai walked towards the young woman, intending to take the necklace from her by force. It was then that a voice in his earpiece went off.
"Kai, the helicopter landed on the roof two minutes ago. Where the hell are you! They can't keep waiting for you!" Cynthia told Kai through the earpiece. Kai stopped walking towards Nine, contemplating the choice he had. He could either join the group at the roof and escape safely along with the others. Or, Kai could risk his safety, attempting to steal the necklace back, while fighting against a crazy, blade wielding woman and a Snorlax on steroids. The choice was obvious.
"I'm getting the damn necklace back Cynthia. Get the others out of there. I'll make it out by myself." Kai said with a determined voice, before ripping off his earpiece. Kai dropped the earpiece to the floor, stomping on it to destroy it. He then looked up at the Chaos member, before speaking again.
"Guess it's just you and me now."
The group sat in the helicopter, nervously waiting for Kai to arrive. It had been a few minutes since the helicopter landed. Sarah had been staring at the roof door since she had taken a seat on the plane. The teenage girl refused to let her eyes leave the door, hoping Kai would open it at any second. Silas and Seiya looked at Sarah worryingly, knowing what she was thinking. As the two sat there, the smart sixteen year olds now silently agreed that Kai was not going to the helicopter. Their assumption was correct when the helicopter slowly left the ground, its propellers whirling around rapidly. Sarah panicked at this, yelling on the communications line.
"Why are we leaving without Kai?! He's not here yet!" Sarah yelled, her anger boiling over. It was Cynthia who responded on the line with a clear and calm voice.
"Kai told me that he would be leaving on his own. He told me to get you all out of there safely. I respected his decision. Kai could take care of himself."
"No he can't! Kai is alone in there with a bunch of killers. He literally had a knife lodged in his shoulder less than an hour ago!" Sarah yelled at Cynthia. She was livid at Cynthia. How could the Champion listen to a teenager and leave him stranded during the mission? It made no sense. At that moment, Sarah had never been more enraged at Cynthia since they joined Project Giratina. The helicopter continued to fly towards HQ in the black night, carrying most of the team.
Cynthia rubbed her temple, attempting to calm her pounding headache. She made the decision to leave Kai stranded in the Museum. However, she didn't regret it. The boy was more than capable of handling himself. Also, it was crucial for Cynthia to show Kai that the organization trusted him to make decisions. Even if he suffered the consequences of his own decisions. Cynthia sighed, placing her face in both of her hands. She could only pray that the younger man made it out of the Museum in good health.
Nine kicked out her leg, intending to hit Kai in the head. Seeing this a mile away, Kai ducked underneath the kick. After dodging her strike, Kai countered with his own kick, connecting with her midsection. The Chaos agent gasped for air after being hit hard. Capitalizing on this opportunity, Kai created a small aura shield on one hand. Then, the aura user rushed towards her, colliding with her body using the shield. Nine was hurt badly by this, knocking into the wall and falling onto the ground crying in pain. Kai approached Nine, stopping a few feet away from her when he noticed the necklace on the ground in front of him. The trainer then reached down, picking up the necklace and pocketing it.
"What were you saying about not being as strong as you lady? Cause honestly, you-" Kai was interrupted as he was sent flying in the air, crashing through another glass case. Agent Steel had rammed into the boy, sending him flying like a pigeon. Kai gasped in pain, feeling an indescribable amount of pain in his stomach for some reason. While still laying down, Kai saw why his stomach felt like it was burning. A fairly large shard of glass was stuck in his lower right midsection. Knowing that he couldn't move well if it was still inside of him, Kai grabbed onto the glass with his right hand. Pulling as hard as he could, Kai slowly managed to pull the shard of glass out of his stomach. Screaming loudly, it took a few seconds for it to come out completely, with even more blood leaking due to the opening in his midsection.
Kai didn't have time to move as Agent Steel kicked his stomach harshly, forcing Kai to collapse on the floor once again, coughing up blood. Kai was not in a state of being to defend himself against Snorlax. The aura user had already lost an insane amount of blood and could feel his body slowly shutting down. He needed to get out of the Museum with the necklace immediately. Luckily for Kai, he could still feel the necklace inside his pocket. However, Kai had no idea how he would be able to get out of the building. Out of the corner of his vision, he spotted Agent Nine slowly pushing herself up from the ground. Kai needed to get out, now! The black haired teenager couldn't defend himself against Snorlax. How was he supposed to survive against the two of them? Knowing that he needed his Pokemon, Kai attempted to locate his belt of pokeballs. Before being able to locate them, Kai felt his ankle snap, due to Agent Steel stomping on it. Kai cried out in pain for a second until he bit his tongue, not wanting to give Snorlax the satisfaction of him screaming. He couldn't complete the mission. Kai would be forced to retreat and live to fight another day.
"Payback is a bitch, huh kid." Steel said out loud, pacing around Kai's body. Kai ignored his smartass comment for now, having just spotted the belt a couple feet away from him, laying on the floor. Quickly, Kai formed a plan. The aura user had enough energy to complete the plan, but it was going to be close. The three individuals were located on the third floor of the Museum. Kai analyzed the room, noting that the entire wall was a glass window. "Fuck this is a bad idea." Kai thought to himself, before putting it into action.
After laying still for a few seconds, Kai caught Agent Steel off guard by kicking him in the shin with his good leg. Steel fell onto one knee, his face revealing his panic.
"Deja Vu?" Kai asked Snorlax rhetorically, before kicking his jaw just like he had the first time the two fought. Knowing that wouldn't be enough to keep Agent Steel down, Kai ran towards the belt of pokeballs. He ran as fast as he could with a broken ankle, picking up the pace when he noticed Special Agent Nine stand up barely, still injured. Not being able to stop him herself, she sent out her Magmortar.
"Magmortar, use Flamethrower!" Nine ordered her Pokemon for the first time today. The Pokemon obeyed, preparing to launch the fire attack straight at him. Kai picked up the belt, still running towards the glass wall. Kai was only a few feet away when Magmortar fired his attack, heading straight towards the teenager's back. With the attack about to scorch Kai, he rammed his shoulder into the glass wall. The glass broke easily, with Kai barely avoiding the Flamethrower as he jumped out of the building, heading straight towards the ground. Without wasting another second, Kai threw one of his pokeballs. Above him emerged his black Charizard, who soared down at an impressive speed in an effort to catch him. Kai didn't have a single doubt Charizard would fail, with his Pokemon catching him on his back just a second later.
Losing consciousness, Kai barely whispered to Charizard to return to HQ, before passing out.
