When May received news of what transpired in Snowpoint City, she couldn't sit still. Once Cynthia had received word that the helicopter was returning with the group (Minus Kai), Cynthia spoke to May face to face about the events. She explained that somehow, their intel was wrong and Special Agent Nine was not alone. She explained that the mission immediately broke down, with the others forced to evacuate and abandon the mission. May sighed in relief, thanking Arceus that everyone was ok. Cynthia couldn't look at May, however, when she had to explain that Kai did not leave in the helicopter with the group. May's heart dropped when hearing this. Cythia and everyone else in Project Giratina had no clue where Kai was and if he was ok. May was frozen in shock. The Champion of Sinnoh attempted to comfort her, but it had no effect on the frozen Coordinator, who refused to move with her mouth still open.

The only thing that snapped May out of her frozen state was when Silas, Seiya, and Sarah returned back to HQ. When the brown-haired girl heard of their return, she rushed to the Medical Center, knowing that all members who returned from a mission always stopped at the Medical Center first in case of injury. May sprinted into the Medical Center, spotting her friends and partners immediately. She smiled sweetly, hugging each person tightly, relieved that they were ok. The Pokemon Coordinator scanned over Seiya and Silas. The two boys seemed unscathed from the mission. They didn't have a single scratch, with only some dirt on their clothes and faces. Looking at Sarah, she was a lot different. Sarah had small cuts over both her arms and legs. While none of the cuts were serious, there were a fair number of them spread across her body. Sarah's usually perfect black hair was messy and tangled up. The girl's face was dirty with dust and dirt. What was most alarming, though, was the dried blood on Sarah's hands.

"Sarah, what happened to your hands? Are you ok?" May asked worryingly, afraid that she had hurt herself more than she was letting on. Sarah glanced at her hands, looking away from May and her hands once she caught sight of the dried blood.

"It's not mine." Sarah quietly choked out, preventing herself from breaking down in front of everyone. Frowning, May knew exactly what Sarah meant. May sat next to the girl, wrapping her tightly in a hug as Sarah broke down, sobbing into May's shoulder. Silas and Seiya frowned at the sight, looking away due to feeling like they were invading the girl's privacy. The group rested in the Medical Center for hours, with all of them falling asleep eventually.

4:40 AM

Landing in front of the warehouse, the black Charizard roared loudly. Carefully, Charizard let Kai's unconscious body slide onto the floor, before searching the warehouse for anybody nearby. Luckily for Kai, a researcher for Project Giratina was about to enter the elevator leading down to HQ, before seeing the Charizard arrive. Recognizing Kai, the researcher took out her radio.

"I have a Code Red 15. A Charizard just arrived at HQ with Kai. The boy is unconscious. I need several doctors to bring him down to HQ, it looks like he's in bad shape." The female researcher said calmly into her radio before pushing it back into her lab coat. A minute later, two doctors and two female nurses came out of the elevator pushing a stretcher, approaching Kai and Charizard carefully. Understanding what they were doing, Charizard backed away from them, letting them place Kai on the stretcher and bring him down to HQ. Once the group of doctors arrived downstairs, they pushed the boy urgently towards the emergency operating room. Everyone in the hallways moved out of their way, understanding the severity of the situation.

Once they arrived in the operating room, one of the doctors stripped Kai's clothing while the other hooked up an IV to view his vitals. The three nurses brought trays of tools and machines, preparing the room for surgery.

"The boy is in critical condition. We need to operate immediately. It appears he has a significant laceration on his midsection and shoulder, most likely due to a knife. There is a smaller laceration he has sustained on his chest. It is not as urgent as the other wounds but needs to be disinfected and treated. He is also most likely suffering from internal bleeding." The head surgeon stated to his staff as he put on his gloves. The other doctor and nurses followed his lead, physically and mentally preparing themselves in their attempt to save the young man's life.

11:30 AM

A slow but stable heartbeat sounded through the operation room. In the middle of the room was the bed Kai was sleeping in, along with the various machines and wires hooked on the trainer. Besides the machine's beeping and Kai's slow rise and fall of his chest, there would be no indication that the boy was alive. The doctor's struggled to operate on the aura user.

Kai had lost a lot of blood, falling unconscious on the journey to HQ. The surgery lasted hours, with Kai even flatlining once before he was resuscitated by the doctors. Thankfully, the worse of it was over. Cynthia Shirona sat in one of the chairs next to Kai. She stared at Kai's rising chest, reassuring herself that the aura user was alive. She sat there for a while, pondering what she would do next. Over the next few days, Cynthia would have to bury herself into her work, attempting to discover if there was a mole in Project Giratina. It seemed like the answer to how Chaos expected them in Snowpoint.

Cynthia looked over to Kai's black armored suit that he previously wore. The clothes he wore were folded neatly and placed on the bedside table. However, something else caught Cynthia's attention. In disbelief, Cynthia walked towards the pile of clothes. Sitting next to the clothes was a small golden necklace that resembled the crown of Giratina, minus the horns on each side.

"Oh Kai, you crazy bastard." Cynthia said out loud, smirking at the unconscious trainer.

She exited the emergency operating room, walking to the Medical Center, knowing that the group was in there sleeping.

Soon, the blonde haired woman entered the room. There, all three trainers were passed out on their respective hospital beds. While they slept peacefully, Sarah looked in bad shape. Her hair was tangled over her face and was completely unkempt. Cynthia didn't blame the girl. In the past twenty four hours, the group had experienced a lot. Slowly, the group began to awake due to Cynthia's arrival. Once they saw the Champion of Sinnoh standing in front of them, the group sat up, knowing she had something important to say.

"At 4AM today, Kai and his Charizard arrived at HQ. Kai was unconscious due to blood loss he sustained in Mission Snowpoint. Immediately, a group of doctors rushed him into an emergency room to operate on him. The surgery was tough, lasting several hours. However, Kai made it. He's not awake right now, and most likely won't be for another ten hours. His body needs time to recover." Cynthia informed the group, looking at the group's reaction. Silas and Seiya nodded understandably, not having anything to say. The brown haired Coordinator got out of her bed, stretching out, relieved that Kai was okay. Not wasting another second, May spoke.

"Can we go see him?" May asked pleadingly, with Silas and Seiya now begging Cynthia as well. Not seeing any harm, Cynthia nodded, leading them to Kai's room. Cynthia stopped at the door, however, when she noticed that Sarah had not moved from her bed. Confused, Cynthia asked Sarah, "Are you coming, Sarah?"

Sarah didn't glance up from the floor, shaking her head slightly. "I'm good, thanks." Sarah stated quietly, before laying down on the bed again, turning away from the group. The group was extremely confused at Sarah's refusal to see Kai. The beautiful woman was always ecstatic when being with the aura user. It was almost like a small obsession. Despite this, Sarah showed no interest in seeing Kai. It made no sense. Especially after May had heard that Kai risked his life for her to make it onto the roof. The group also couldn't forget that he took a knife to the shoulder for the girl. Not wanting to argue with Sarah's decision, the group left to see Kai.

Sweating furiously, Sarah squatted down with a bar full of weights one last time, before hanging the bar up. She just finished her night time workout. She cleaned up after herself, placing the 45 pound plates back onto the rack. The stunning trainer then grabbed her bottle of water and towel, before leaving the weightroom. It had been almost eleven hours since Cynthia had informed the group that Kai made it back to HQ. Sarah had yet to visit the boy, training herself and her Pokemon in an effort to distract herself.

Shortly after finishing her workout, Sarah returned to the group's suite, noticing Seiya and May watching a movie on the couch. Silas was nowhere to be seen, most likely sleeping in his room. Sarah considered sitting down to watch the move for a second. She quickly changed her mind, knowing that she would be interrogated by the group as to why she hadn't visited Kai. She did not want to deal with that right now. The fit girl walked into her room and closed the door behind her. She flopped onto the bed, sighing in frustration. Sarah knew that she shouldn't feel the way she was feeling. She was pissed. Not only at Cynthia and herself, but at Kai.

Kai had no right to put her safety in front of his own. She didn't need Kai to play the hero. Sarah could take care of herself. While she wanted to believe this, the rational part of her screamed that would be buried six feet under if Kai didn't intervene. Sarah also knew that she would most likely have not been able to regroup with Seiya and Silas if it wasn't for Kai. The girl grabbed her pillow, pressing it into her face and screaming into it. Her feelings were completely mixed around. She was feeling a variety of emotions and attitudes towards Kai. It didn't help the young girl relax at all. She just prayed that her head would be clear by the time Kai woke up. Which would be very, very soon.

The world was black. It was an endless room of space. Kai felt like he was floating across space, with no purpose. He felt free from all the burdens placed on him. This feeling disappeared. For some odd reason, pain flooded his mind. He felt like he was burning, his state of serenity and peace fading rapidly. Then, he awoke.

Kai's eyes jolted open, his body lurching forward in panic. Breathing heavily, Kai couldn't make sense of his surroundings. Feeling his body in burning pain, the aura user looked at his chest, spotting all kinds of wire and needles in him. Not wasting a second, Kai pulled them out carelessly, drawing a bit of blood from several spots. Kai was about to lift himself up off the bed before he was pushed onto his back forcefully. Lucario had pushed him back into his bed, glaring at his trainer. It seemed like Kai's panic attack woke up Lucario, who had been sleeping peacefully in one of the chairs. Kai moaned in pain, believing he had never been in such horrendous pain.

"Lucario everything hurts so bad! Please, make it stop." Kai told his Pokemon, pressing his face against his pillow. Lucario frowned at this, unsure of what to do. It was clear that the aura user was in an excruciating amount of pain. The Pokemon was about to run out of the room for help when he thought of an idea. It most likely would work, considering Kai had the ability to use aura. Testing his idea, Lucario placed his paw on Kai's chest while closing his eyes. Lucario began to use heal pulse, a white glow appearing from his paw. While heal pulse is completely ineffective on humans, more likely doing more harm than good, Lucario believed that Kai would be an exception. Since the boy had a strong aura, which was similar to Lucario's, the canine firmly believed it would work.

Slowly, Kai calmed down, the heal pulse seeming to work. Lucario continued using heal pulse for a minute, with Kai relaxing into the bed with his eyes closed. Finally, Lucario stopped, panting in exhaustion. While Kai's injuries still existed, much of the pain disappeared. Lucario was able to heal Kai, although not fully,

"What did you do Lucario?" Kai asked confused.

"Master, I used heal pulse. It worked due to you being an aura user I believe." Lucario stated, bowing to his trainer.

"Wow, I feel freaking amazing!" Kai laughed, now standing by himself before slightly stumbling. Lucario stared at Kai almost falling, with one eyebrow raised.

"Ok, maybe not amazing but definitely a lot better." Kai stated. Lucario smiled, nodding at this.

Lucario went to the suite alone, notifying the group that Kai was awake. The group immediately sprinted to his room, desperate to see the trainer. Lucario then went to Cynthia's office, to inform her personally. Cynthia thanked the Pokemon before getting up to see the boy as well. Upon seeing Kai, Silas and Seiya smiled at the boy, patting his shoulder softly to not hurt the trainer. May was not as careful, jumping on the bed and hugging Kai tightly, her head buried in his shoulder. Kai winced but returned the hug for a few seconds, before the two let go.

"It's good to see you're not dead." Silas stated emotionlessly, with Seiya punched Silas's shoulder after hearing the blue haired teenager. Kai rolled his eyes at this.

"I'm not gonna die that easily my friend. I don't know who you take me for."

"Really? Cause it looked pretty close for a second." Seiya stated, with Silas agreeing with his friend.

"Not to me." Kai shrugged nonchalantly as Cynthia walked in.

"Finally, you're awake. Glad to see your in good spirits. Also, you look miraculously better than you were previously." Cynthia said to the teenager, who was now sitting on the bed with his feet hanging off the side.

"Lucario was able to heal most of my injuries. While only partially, it still helped a lot. He thinks it's because of my aura that he was able to use heal pulse successfully." Kai explained, before asking Cynthia a question.

"Did you see my present?" Kai said, smirking at the Champion.

"I did. Impressive that you managed to prevent Chaos from stealing the necklace. Even if it almost cost you your life." Cynthia stated seriously, a hint of disapproval in her voice.

"I'll come back to check on you later. Obviously, you all have a few days off training and missions. Kai, we'll have our conversation regarding your actions later." Cynthia finished, walking out of the room. With Cynthia gone, Kai noticed that absence of one of their team members.

"Where the hell is Sarah? Is she ok?" Kai asked worryingly. Silas shook his head before responding.

"No, she's in the suite, still in her room."

"Kai, I don't think you should talk to her anytime soon. She's been off the entire day. " May added on, thinking of the black haired girl.

"I'm sure she'll be fine once she knows I'm awake and alright!" Kai told the group, his spirit and enthusiasm still high. Kai's smile dropped, however, after hearing what Seiya said.

"Yeah that's what we thought too. Except, she just found out that you're awake. She was there with us when Lcuario told us about you. She just refused to leave with us." Seiya stuttered out, not wanting to be the one to tell Kai this. Kai glanced at Lucario, making sure that Seiya wasn't lying. Seiya's words proved true as Kai saw Lucario. Lucario was staring at the floor, not wanting to look Kai in the eyes. Seeing this, Kai felt broken. The group felt extremely bad for Kai. The teenager had just experienced the fight of his life, almost killing him in the process. He risked his safety for the group. The aura user threw himself in front of a knife for Sarah. As a thank you for this, he was treated as he didn't exist by the girl.

The group talked in the room for about an hour, before they all left to the suite, with Lucario helping Kai walk. Once they arrived, Silas, Seiya, and May went to their rooms to sleep, since it was already late at night. Before Kai went to his, he walked over to Sarah's room, before opening it.

Hearing the door open, Sarah glanced up from her phone. Standing at the door was a built, black haired trainer, looking at the girl hesitantly. Making eye contact with Kai for a second, Sarah turned her body, now looking at her plain wall with a fake interest. Kai frowned at this, before taking a step inside her room.

"Sarah, what's wrong? Please, tell me." Kai pleaded with the girl.

Sarah heard every word the boy said clearly. Still, she refused to answer, remaining quiet. A large part of her wanted to grab Kai and hug him tightly, thanking him for his heroic actions. However, that small part of anger towards him made her refrain from doing this.

"Did I do something wrong?"

A few seconds passed, Sarah unmoving while glaring at the wall.

"Sarah, talk to me. I can't know what's going on if you don't tell me." Kai told her. Finally, Sarah spoke.

"Get out.." Sarah said quietly. Since she spoke so softly and low, Kai thought he had misheard her.

"What did you say?" Kai asked the girl. This time, Sarah looked at Kai while speaking, now raising her voice.

"Get out of my room Kai!" Sarah told the teenager loudly. Kai stood there shocked at the girl, completely confused as to why he was being treated like this.

A few seconds passed of absolute silence. Kai stared at Sarah with his mouth open, while Sarah continued to glare at the trainer. Eventually, Kai gave in, gripping his head tightly with both hands.

"Fine, if you want me to leave you alone, I will! My bad for trying to fucking comfort you, even when you decide to be an asshole to me for doing nothing bad to you!" Kai exclaimed loudly, definitely disturbing the other residents in the suite. Kai stormed out of her room, closing her door loudly behind him.
