4:00 PM
3 days after Kai woke up
Kai rubbed his bandaged shoulder over his shirt, waiting for Cynthia to speak. Cynthia sat across from Kai, currently staring at the computer on top of her desk. The two of them were currently in Cynthia's personal office. Kai had finished a morning workout in the weightroom. Luckily, Sarah wasn't in there, so he was able to get a workout in without the possibility of running into her. Cynthia had called him, requesting to have a private meeting with him once he was finished. Knowing he didn't have a choice, Kai just agreed with the Champion.
"So, what am I here for?" Kai asked Cynthia casually.
"What do you think Kai? The mission that you were just a part of was like a dumpster fire. It caught fire as soon as it started and blew up." Cynthia stated, looking up at Kai as she finished her last sentence.
"Alright, what do you want to know Ms. Shirona?"
"Everything. Starting with a brief timeline of everything that happened. I already heard from everyone else privately. Now, I want to hear from you." Cynthia stated, her hands on her keyboard as she was ready to take notes based on what Kai said.
"Gotchu. At the start of the mission, Sarah and I were positioned exactly where we were supposed to. So were Seiya and Silas, the two of them being in the surveillance room on the second floor. Two large trucks drove straight into the east wall of the Snowpoint Museum, creating a large entrance. Two Chaos trucks stopped right behind the trucks. Chaos soldiers from all four cars poured out. Agent Steel and Nine were both present, obviously. Having been ordered to evacuate quietly, Sarah and I made our way to the second floor, trying our best to avoid the tens of Chaos soldiers now inside. We were unable to do so due to the large amount of them roaming the hallways. Having no way out, we fought using some of our Pokemon. This is when shit hit the fan." Kai said, pausing for a second before continuing.
"Things were going well, with Sarah handling the Pokemon side of the battle while Lucario and I took out soldiers easily. Snorlax intervened though, roughing me up a bit and shifting the fight." Kai stated.
"Agent Steel." Cynthia corrected Kai.
"Whatever. With Agent Steel, I was preoccupied. It became a losing battle. After a few minutes of fighting Agent Steel, I noticed Special Agent Nine entering the room. She held two blades, preparing to throw one at Sarah. Seeing no other option, I jumped in front of the blade, where it pierced my shoulder. I threw a smoke grenade and we retreated to a room safely without being followed. It was there that I made the decision to stay back while Sarah and Lucario met up with Silas and Seiya, before going to the roof. I told her that I would meet her at the roof when the helicopter arrived-" Kai was interrupted by Cynthia.
"But you were never planning on going with them." Cynthia told Kai even though it could also be seen as a question.
"Right again Cynthia. I wasn't going to let them get the necklace, at least not easily. I managed to pull myself back into one piece before heading to the third floor of the Museum. There, I saw Special Agent Nine with the necklace, having just stolen it from the case. I was able to defeat her in a Pokemon battle and then in a fight between the two of us." Cynthia looked at Kai with an impressed look. She knew Kai was Project Giratina's most valuable asset. He would be the reason they defeated Chaos and their plans. "I was able to recover the necklace just as Agent Steel blindsided me. I was thrown across the room, not expecting him at the moment. I crashed into a glass case, a large shard of glass piercing my stomach."
"So that's what that wound was from. The doctors was unsure if it was from a weapon or glass." Cynthia stated to herself. Kai simply nodded before continuing.
"I was hurt badly at this point. Snorlax beat my ass for a couple more minutes, breaking my ankle as well, until I was able to regroup myself. Pulling off a sick stunt that none of you will ever have the privilege of seeing, I was able to stun Steel temporarily, running to pick up my Pokemon belt. I was almost to the glass window when Nine ordered her Magmortar to hit me with a flamethrower. Barely, I managed to break through the third floor window, falling down while throwing out my Charizard. Obviously, he caught me and managed to bring me here to HQ." Kai finished, taking a deep breath in exaggeration. Cynthia scoffed at this, now turning to face the young man.
"Alright, now you have to listen to me. You're the most important asset that we have in this organization. Because of this, you have the luxury and privilege of being able to make your own decisions as you see fit at times. While I didn't agree with your decision in Operation Snowpoint, it paid off. You managed to prevent Chaos from stealing the second piece of "Death's Crown". Even when the odds were stacked against your favor from the start. All I ask from you Kai is to please be careful of the decision you decide to make. You can't always be so reckless. It won't pay off every time." Cynthia finished.
"Yeah, don't count on it. You haven't heard Cynthia. I have a hero complex." Kai said while smirking confidently.
"Yeah, whatever. Get the hell out of my room now Kai." Cynthia said. Kai laughed, getting up from his chair and leaving her office.
"Haunter, use a Shadow Ball on Blaziken!"
"Jump over it Blaziken."
Haunter floated in the hair while firing a purple ball towards the bird Pokemon. Blaziken waited patiently for the Shadow Ball, before jumping over it effortlessly. While Blaziken was in the air, May called out her next attack.
"Now Blaziken, use Blaze Kick!"
"Haunter, dodge!"
Blaziken stuck out his leg, it now being lit up in flames. Haunter attempted to get out of the way but was not quick enough. The kick connected with Haunter, a blast of fire erupting when the two made contact with each other. The battle had been going on for a while now. May and Seiya had both been battling well, the fight coming down to the wire.
Hurt but not finished, Haunter was still ready to battle. Blaziken frowned at this, assuming her fighting position again.
"Alright Blaziken, use Aerial Ace!
Blaziken sprinted towards Haunter, preparing to assault it with the flying type move. Seiya waited a second before calling out the next move
"Double Team!"
Haunter created multiple copies of itself, now creating a circle around Blaziken. Confused, Blaziken attacked the one in front of him. The Haunter's copy disappeared in thin air. May cursed, knowing this was bad for her.
"Now, use Dark Pulse!"
All the copies of Haunter fired a dark pulse of energy. Blaziken panicked, not knowing which one was the real attack. Eventually, she was hit by all of them, not being able to do anything about it. Blaziken slid across the ground before pulling herself up slowly.
"Blaziken, use Fire Punch!"
"Haunter, Protect!"
Haunter created a small shield around him, just in time for the punch encased in fire to land against it. May frowned at this while Seiya thanked Arceus, knowing that was way too close.
"Now Haunter, use Hypnosis!" Seiya yelled, knowing that this was a big opportunity. Due to the Blaziken being right in front of Haunter, the hypnosis landed.
Blaziken was hit by the hypnosis, falling asleep immediately. Seiya toke advantage of this, ordering an onslaught of attacks.
"Haunter, use Shadow Ball continuously."
Blaziken was hit by the Shadow Ball, still asleep. May pleaded for Blaziken to wake up, knowing the battle would be over soon if he didn't. However, Blaziken didn't. Relentlessly, Blaziken was hit by Shadow Ball after Shadow Ball. The battle was becoming hard to watch for May. Finally, Seiya decided to end the battle.
"Use Sucker Punch!"
Haunter rushed towards Blaziken, its hand glowing white. Knowing that Blaziken had to wake up before the attack landed, May called out her last attack.
"Blaziken, Fire Blast!"
Blaziken woke up shortly after May called out her command, standing up quickly. Blaziken was able to let off her fire attack, but not before Haunter hit the Pokemon with Sucker Punch. Both of their attacks landed. The two of them were sent back, now laying on the ground. May and Seiya waited a moment, confused at what just occurred. They soon realized, though, that both Pokemon had fainted, and were unable to battle. It was a draw. The trainer and coordinator shook hands, agreeing that it was an amazing battle.
Soon, the two of them had returned to the suite. Silas was meditating inside his room with his legs crossed together and his eyes closed. Not wanting to disturb him, May closed his door so the conversations in the living room wouldn't disturb him. Kai sat in the living room by himself, watching Netflix. Just by seeing Kai in the living room, May knew that Sarah was not in the suite. The two trainers had been avoiding each other for almost four days now. If one of them was in one location, the other refused to be there as well. While Sarah had gotten more talkative and more like herself with Silas, Seiya, and May, she still maintained her harsh attitude with Kai. While May tried to talk to the other girl about it several times, Sarah always shut the conversation down almost instantly.
Seeing Kai alone, May walked up to the couch, flopping onto it closely. She now sat close to Kai, facing the TV in front of them. Kai grinned at this, before asking her a question.
"So are we watching Stranger Things or Ozark?"
"Have things gotten better with Sarah?" May ignored Kai's question, asking one of her own. Kai groaned at her question, now upset at where the conversation was heading.
"No, May. She doesn't want anything to do with me. Honestly, I've stopped caring. She could ignore me and treat me however she wants. I've decided to stop caring about it." Kai replied harshly. May simply frowned at his answer.
"Try talking to her, Kai. We don't know why she feels the way she does."
"That's literally the first thing I tried doing! She doesn't want to talk with me!" Kai exclaimed, his frustration showing.
"I've honestly done everything I could. I saved the girl's life and this is how I am repaid. I can't make her want to talk with me." Kai finished before pressing play on the TV, putting an end to their conversation. May leaned back on the couch, deciding to watch TV with the teenager for a bit.
After meditating for a few hours, Silas walked towards the weight room, wanting to get a workout in before the end of the day. It was already late and the teenager hadn't done any physical activity today. The blue haired boy walked into the weight room. Expecting it to be empty, he wasn't exactly surprised when he saw a black haired girl inside. Sarah lived in the weightroom, always working out, training, or relaxing. She tended to do the last activity the least. The beautiful girl wore her usual workout outfit, consisting of a sports bra along with athletic joggers. Silas couldn't help but stare at the girl's figure. She was absolutely stunning. She had a pretty face that was free of any acne, along with an hourglass figure that showed off her curves and assets. After a few seconds, Sarah looked up at the door, seeing Silas staring at her body. Slightly freaked out, Sarah stopped running on the treadmill.
"Umm hey Silas? Do I have something on my face?"
Silas continued to stare at the girl before replying.
"Oh, no, you don't. I was just admiring your body." the short teenager said awkwardly, not knowing that was an extremely weird thing to say. Sarah made a disgusted face at this, creeped out by the boy. Realizing his mistake, Silas apologized.
"I'm so sorry, that was really weird of me. I'm just gonna do my workout now." Silas stated, walking quickly to the dumbbell rack. Sarah raised an eyebrow, continuing to look at the boy before she shrugged, continuing her run on the treadmill. The two worked out for about thirty minutes, not speaking to each other. It was Silas who decided to break the silence, asking one of the worst questions he could to Sarah.
"Why are you treating Kai so badly?" the teenager asked suddenly.
Sarah frowned, getting ready to immediately tell the boy to mind his own business. She stopped herself, however, realizing something. Maybe Silas could help her out. He was much different than the rest of the guys. Silas was the most forgiving guy of them all. He was raised by monks for crying out loud. He provided a perspective that no one could. Maybe he could help Sarah understand why she was treating Kai so poorly. Sarah eventually responded quietly.
"I don't know."
Silas was confused at her words. He was about to ask what she meant, before he realized that she wasn't done speaking. After a moment, Sarah continued,
"Kai literally saved my life. He took a knife for me. Yet, I treat him so badly. I don't even know why. A part of me wants to hug him and thank him for what he did. But there is also a part of me that hates what he did and I don't know why." Sarah stated, tears forming in her eyes. It always got to her emotionally thinking about this subject. Sarah dragged her arm across her face, refusing to cry in front of one of her friends again.
Silas listened carefully, analyzing the young woman's words. Silas didn't respond, a silence filling the room for about a minute. Finally, the short teenager spoke.
"I think I know why. I think that you're not used to being saved. You're not used to someone treating you like Kai did. It's a foreign feeling for you. You're scared of that feeling." Silas said, looking at Sarah as he spoke. Sarah nodded, prompting Silas to continue.
"You don't like feeling helpless. At that moment, you were. Lucario dragged you out of the building forcefully before you gave up resisting. But you have to understand something. Kai doesn't believe you're helpless. Kai didn't take a knife for you because he thought that. He also didn't make you leave without him because he thought that. Do you know why he did that?" Silas asked the girl. Sarah shook her head, not being able to find an answer.
"It's because he cares about you. Kai was scared of losing you and put your life in front of his. All because he cares about you. Not because your some weak girl who can't take care of yourself. Kai knows that you're a badass. Hell, we all do!" Silas finished, smiling at the girl. Sarah couldn't believe the boy's words. He was absolutely right. He hit the nail dead center. While she was relieved to finally know why she felt that way, Sarah also realized she was an idiot. Her feelings were so misguided. Silas made her realize that she had been treating Kai so unfairly. She needed to make things right. Sarah got up from the bench they were sitting on.
"Thank you so much Silas, you don't understand how much this helped!" Sarah stated grinning, before running out of the weightroom. Silas shook his head in response, smiling. .
11:00 PM
Kai and Lucario entered the suite laughing, having just returned from a friendly sparring fight. While they couldn't fight as hard as they normally did due to Kai's injuries, it was a lot of fun for the duo. Kai currently had his shirt off showing off his built body and muscles. He wore black basketball shorts and running shoes. No one was in the living room, everyone was most likely inside their rooms. The group had a team meeting tomorrow at 7:00 AM, so everyone was in their beds at an earlier time than usual.
"You know that hit was lucky buddy. You weren't even looking!"
"I assure you Master, it was completely intentional. Don't be jealous that you cannot complete the same move."
Kai laughed at this, pushing his starter Pokemon lightly.
"Oh shut up. You're just scared I'm going to be stronger than you soon." Kai said ina cocky fashion.
"Well that is inevitable due to your naturally strong aura and potential. Unfortunately for you, however, you aren't stronger right now." Lucario replied smiling. Kai pouted at this, with the two of them laughing loudly after. The two were interrupted when they saw Sarah step into the hallway, wearing her same outfit she had on in the weightroom. The two stopped laughing immediately, tension building in the air.
"I'll talk to you tomorrow buddy. Get some rest." Kai told Lucario, who bowed respectfully as he returned to his pokeball. Kai then looked at Sarah, who was staring at the floor in front of her. Gathering up the courage, Sarah looked at Kai before speaking.
"Can we talk in my room?" Sarah asked Kai nervously. Kai almost refused immediately, still upset at the girl. Deciding to be the bigger man, he nodded at the girl, already regretting his decision as he walked behind the shorter girl. Kai entered her room before Sarah shut the door behind them. The two stood in silence for a few seconds, unsure of what to say. Sarah was about to apologize to Kai before he started speaking, filling the silence.
"Listen, Sarah. Whatever I did to upset you, I didn't mean to. I'm so sorry for making you feel this way. I care about you and the one thing I would not want to do is make you feel horrible." Kai said, looking at Sarah's brown eyes. Sarah was shocked at Kai's words. The teenager still felt the need to apologize to her, even though he did nothing wrong to her. She didn't deserve his friendship. Kai was truly too good for her.
Without even realizing what she was doing, Sarah grabbed Kai's face with both hands, pushing her lips into his. She kissed the teenager passionately, Kai's eyes widening in shock. Slowly Kai closed them, kissing Sarah back passionately. Kai grabbed her waist, pulling the gorgeous girl closer to him, their bodies now pressed against each other tightly, with little clothing on the two trainers. Sarah moaned in his mouth, continuing to kiss each other, their tongues now getting involved. Sarah's hands trailed Kai's strong chest and shoulders, feeling the boy's upper body. Their lips broke apart for a second, with Kai wanting to say something.
"Didn't you want to tell me something?" Kai asked, their faces still close to each other while their bodies remained pressed together.
"That could wait." Sarah said seductively, before the two began making out once again. Kai gripped Sarah's behind, lifting her up and carrying her to her bed. Sarah laughed as Kai threw her onto the bed, the two kissing passionately on Sarah's bed. Kai trailed kisses down Sarah's chin and neck, pleasing Sarah greatly. The two couldn't get enough of each other, ripping off each other's clothes and enjoying the night together.
