Chapter 7

The drive to find an abandoned house in Salem, Massachusetts was quite the long one. It took them an hour just to find a secluded cabin out in the woods that hadn't been touched in years. And the ride itself, Dean had to blast her music just for them to drown out the demon's constant yelling from the trunk. Though that had been expected, after all he was simply trapped rather than knocked out. If he had been knocked out then they would've at least gotten some peace and quiet. Then again demons are resilient, like cockroaches, he wouldn't have stayed knocked out for long anyways. Still it would've been a welcomed quiet, no matter how short it might've been if the demon had been unconscious. Now when it came to the cabin they did have to do some breaking and entering. But luckily the cabin was so old that it didn't have a security system of any kind, which was great for them! So as Sam cleared the furniture from the middle of the room Dean lifted up the dirty old area rug. Then she crouched down, can of red spray paint in hand, and began to spray paint a fairly large Devil's trap on the floor.

"Dean." Sam suddenly said as he continued to clear things out of the way for her.

"Yeah Sam?" Dean asked but she did not take her eyes away from the intricate trap she was painting.

"Why didn't you use the knife on the demon when you were fighting him?" Sam asked, causing Dean to stop for a moment as she glanced at him. "I mean you kinda got your ass kicked, but then again I don't know what the demon looks like now." He said, trying to lighten the mood when the female hunter looked a bit pissed at him saying she got her ass kicked.

"I guess it just slipped my mind. Besides, if I had then we wouldn't have gotten this chance to interrogate him." Dean said as she went back to painting the Devil's trap on the old, moldy wooden floor.

"Right..." Sam trailed off, watching as each spray of the red paint added a new detail to the trap they knew by heart by now. "So what is your plan with this demon?" He asked, wanting to know exactly want Dean wanted to do.

"My plan? It's to send this bastard back to Hell." Dean said as she slowly finished painting the trap on the floor, standing as now they had to let it dry.

"Don't you think we should be interrogating him? You know, so we can get some information on Lilith?" Sam asked, wanting to get the jump on Lilith before she gets one on them again.

"Sam there's no way he knows anything about Lilith. You said so yourself that this guy has had the same killing pattern for years. He's probably so out of the loop he probably doesn't even know that Azazel is dead." Dean said as she walked around the Devil's trap to come and stand next to Sam.

"Still Dean we have to at least see if he knows anything. And if he doesn't then I will be the first to pull out the exorcism and get right to work." Sam said as Dean looked at him for a moment with a small frown.

"Fine, but only if you promise to start as soon as the interrogation doesn't get us anywhere." Dean said, not liking it but she knew they had to start trying to learn about Lilith eventually.

"I promise." Sam stated, wanting to reassure Dean that things wouldn't go too far.

"Good." Dean said as she nodded and crossed her arms slightly.

Once the Devil's trap was dry Dean set up a chair in the middle of it as Sam went outside to retrieve the possessed Axle. The brunette brought him inside just as she had come back from finding enough ropes to tie up the demon. And Dean did exactly that as Sam shoved the weakened Axle into the chair and held him in place. Going to retrieve what else they need from the trunk once he was sure that the other male wasn't getting free. With the demon killing knife they pilfered from Ruby certainly made interrogating demons easier, if only slightly. The demons still always insisted on withholding information and slinging insults. No matter how much their are cut into and drenched in holy water and salt they just do not budge. That is until the exorcism begins, that's when they start to have loose lips, thinking that it'll save their hide but it never does. Same could be said for the possessed Axle. Dean cut into him, salted his wounds, practically drowned him in holy water, yet nothing useful ever came out of his mouth. She was getting fed up, and both Sam and the demon possessing Axle could see it.

They could see the twitch in her right eye, the way she ground her teeth as she absentmindedly did tricks with the demon killing knife. All of it was in full view for them to witness, and whilst it worried Sam it greatly amused the demon. Though the female hunter had every reason to be angry, they had gotten no information on Lilith. The only information the demon possessing Axle had given them was that he got a kick out of killing an even amount of girls on odd numbered days. In fact he admitted that he just liked how odd numbers for the month, year, and days screw with a pattern to an extent. As well as how leaving the witchcraft symbols makes it so hunters do his job for him by sending demon powered witches down to Hell for him. The part of Dean that had been twisted and torn into by Hell had to admit that it was quite the system. With enough cool down time for more witches to make the mistake of worshiping a demon for their powers. But innocent women were still being killed, and she couldn't stand by and let this continue to happen.

"This is getting us nowhere, Sam." Dean said as she angrily jabbed the knife tip first into the table that had been pulled up to hold all their tools. "Let's just get this over with and grab some beers." She said as she released the knife, it standing up on its own as she crossed her arms.

"Aw... trying to get rid of me so soon, Dean?" Demon Axle panted out through his pain, chest heaving and eyes turning black for the millionth time tonight. "And here I thought you wanted to meet the owner of this meat suit I'm riding around in." He said with a sadistic grin, eyes still pitch black as he stared at the two hunters.

"What?" Dean asked her brow furrowed slightly, what was this demon planning?

"Time for you to meet the real Axle." Was the only answer Dean got before the demon closed his eyes and focused before going limp in the chair, as if unconscious.

"Ugh... what's going on?" Axle, the real Axle, asked as he woke up, looking around with blurry unfocused eyes. "Why am I, tied up?" He asked as he pulled against his bonds, hissing in pain when that irritated a cut on his arm.

Sam and Dean shared a look with one another at this. Still occupied vessels were common and, frankly, unavoidable with demons. In most cases though the demons have ridden their vessel till they break or have gotten them killed. Those were the simple ones, where they can just use the knife on them, kill the demon, and not worry about consequences. But getting to talk to the real owner of a possessed body usually tends to make things more complicated for a hunter. Because whether they get five hours or five minutes, the victim always shows how tortured and in need of help they are. Which makes the hunter more inclined to go easy on the demon in order to go easy on the victim as well so they may survive the encounter. It was any hunters weakness when facing demons, well, unless they are a heartless bastard who is indifferent to everything. That's when it usually backfires on the demon, and other times it backfires on the demon when the vessel's owner helps the hunter in question. Honestly whatever happens in the following conversations will be what decides how Sam and Dean proceed from here.

"Axle?" Sam asked cautiously as the two looked at the trapped and bleeding college boy.

"Axle. My name's Dean, this is Sam. " Dean said as that seemed to get Axle's attention more so than Sam had, as she decided to not call him her brother since it just, didn't seem right. Said male immediately took notice of that but said nothing, they had bigger concerns. "We're hunters, and right now there's a demon inside of you." She explained as she approached the wounded college boy.

"I know..." Axle uttered as he looked at Dean, there was so much torment and guilt in his grey-blue eyes. "Oh god, the things he made me do. To Maggie, Violet, Kelly... those girls were my friends!" He said, so much anguish and self-loathing in his voice as he clenched his eyes shut against the painful memories.

"Axle, that wasn't you, that was the demon." Sam said, looking on with sympathy as Axle turned his tortured gaze to him for a moment.

"But he used my body to do it." Axle stated woefully as tears slowly began to trickle down his cheeks.

"Axle, Axle look at me." Dean said and after a few seconds Axle did just that. "When this is over I want you to go find yourself a nice girl, finish college. Find God and move the hell out of this town for all I care. Do whatever you have to do to put this behind you and make a good life for yourself. But I need you to listen closely." She said, watching him nod slightly as he slowly took in what she was saying. "We want to make that bastard pay and send him back to Hell where he belongs. But we're looking for another demon that he may have information about." Dean began to explain, hating that she had to expose Axle to this even further but it was necessary.

"Her name is Lilith, we're trying to find and stop her from causing more damage than she already has." Sam explained, also hating having to do this but it needs to be done.

"This demon inside of you let you out for a reason Axle, to stall us, and he's not going to let you stay out for much longer. So we need your help whilst you're still in control." Dean revealed, knowing that as soon as Axle says something the demon doesn't like control will be ripped from him once again.

"Anything. Just send this thing back where it came from." Axle said, and at that point the demon decided he should take back control as the boy soon hunched over as he let out moans of pain.

"Axle?" Sam and Dean asked in unison as Axle seemed to be having an internal struggle.

"The demon, I can feel him... trying to rip control from me..." Axle strained out through the pain as his hands clenched into fists.

"Axle, hurry, before he takes back control from you." Dean said as she made Axle look at her as he squinted in pain. "Lilith, does he know anything about her?" She asked quickly, wanting to get some kind of answer as quickly as possible.

"No... no Lilith, just... his list of targets... for this year. That's all... please, get rid of him now before-." Axle was cut off before he could finish as his body went limp for a split second before straightening up as his eyes flashed black.

"Whoo and I'm back!" Demon Axle exclaimed as he let out a puff of breath and smirked. "So, how was the conversation with Axle?" He asked as his smirk morphed into a sickly sweet fake smile.

"Oh it was very helpful. You see Axle enlightened us to the fact that, you don't know anything about Lilith." Dean said as she returned that fake sickly sweet smile with a slight tilt of her head to the right. "You are nothing, just some unimportant demon who killed this poor kids friends. One of whom I think he secretly wanted to bone until you came along." She said but honestly that was just her opinion. "Meaning that not only has this interrogation been a waste of salt and holy water, but of our time as well." Dean said as now the demons expression had slowly morphed into one of fear, for he knew what would happen next.

"And what makes you think this kid didn't lie to you? Maybe I've got my hooks in too deep for all you know." Demon Axle asked which gained him a cold, harsh stare from Dean that sent an odd shiver down his vessel's spine.

"Because he isn't a limp-dicked, scum-sucking, lying demon who gets his rocks off to killing pretty, young girls. You are though and now, you're going back to where filth like you belongs." Dean hissed out, gripping at the chair arms that Demon Axle's arms were tied to as she leaned down to be eye to eye with him. "Do it, Sam." She stated, never breaking eye contact with the now fearful and enraged demon as she stood up straight.

"You bitch! Go ahead, send me to Hell, I'll just crawl right back out. And when I do, you'll be the first skank I kill! Ya hear that? Ya hear that Dean Winchester?!" Demon Axle shouted but was promptly ignored by Dean as opted to walk around the Devil's trap with slow strides. Once again looking like a lioness stalking her prey.

Sam did not care for how the demon was talking to Dean and did not let it continue any further. The Latin words that made up the exorcism flowed from his mouth flawlessly as he recited from memory. The demon began to shake and convulse, yelling in agony in a deep demonic voice. The chair, and the demon along with it, soon began to shift and jerk around within the Devil's trap. Unable to move past the invisible barrier it created as the chair jerked around within that small space. Sam however stayed focused and indifferent to the demons yells of pain as he continued to chant. Whilst Dean was just indifferent to the demons yells of pain as she watched. Then as Sam spoke the last line of text that made up the exorcism, it happened. Axle's back soon arched with head facing the ceiling, a final yell of agony escaping his throat. A geyser of inky black smoke bellowing out alongside they yell towards the ceiling. It dissipates just as quickly as it burst forth from Axle's body as he goes limp again.

"Axle? Axle?" Dean asked as she rushed over and checked his neck for a pulse, relieved when she found one. "C'mon kid, wake up." She said as she slapped him lightly on his face, earning a groan from the green haired male.

"Is he, gone?" Axle asked, voice hoarse from all of the yelling the demon had done.

"Yeah, he's gone." Dean reassured as she began to untie Axle as Sam came over to help.

"Good..." Axle uttered, letting out a sigh of relief as he shut his eyes for a moment.

"Ok, now Sam's going to get you to the hospital while I clean up here." Dean said, handing Sam the keys to the Impala before helping him ease the untied Axle out of the chair. "And you can't tell anyone about what happened tonight Axle, I mean it." She said gaining a tired nod from the boy as the two hunters helped him outside and into the back of the Impala as the sun had set by now.

After watching Sam drive off into the night in her baby Dean went back inside the ramshackle cabin. As she stood in there alone cleaning up from the exorcism she was happy now more than ever that this place still had working electricity. Dean never did like being alone, because it meant that she was left alone with her thoughts. She supposed that's part of the reason why she liked to pretend that she doesn't remember Hell. Because there the only things she ever had were her thoughts, and those were sometimes just as torturous as the actual torture... Dean took a shuddered breath to clear herself of the unwanted remembrance as she continued to clean. Mopping up the blood, salt, and holy water with an old mop she found before simply putting the rug over the Devil's trap. Trying to get the paint off of the wood would've been a bitch of a project, one that Dean didn't have time for. The Devil's trap was the cabin's owner's problem now as she finished packing everything up. And when Sam got back he found Dean huffing and puffing a bit as she pushed the last piece of old, musty furniture back into place.

"Took ya, long enough." Dean panted out and stretched her back with an audible pop, sighing in content afterwards. "Did Axle get to the hospital ok? And did you bring my baby back in one piece?" She asked, holding out her hand just as Sam handed her back her keys.

"Your car is fine, Dean. And Axle made it there just fine. I stuck around long enough to find out he lost alot of blood but was stable and managed to tell him we'd be splitting town soon" Sam explained as he picked up the duffel bag from the ground that contained everything they had brought into the cabin and slung it over his shoulder.

"Yeah, but not tonight. Not till I get a burger and beer to replace the ones that demon ruined." Dean said, still feeling sore about that whole situation.

"Ok Dean, we'll go get you a burger and beer." Sam said as he headed for the door with Dean following close behind, whom shut off the lights and shut the door behind herself.

"And pie?" Dean asked, her hopeful smile that she sent Sam's way illuminated only by the soft glow of the moon.

"Yes, and pie." Sam stated with a small smile, it was already getting hard to say no to that face of hers.
