Chapter 17: The Beginning of The End, Part One

Near Metalia's Seal...

Aurnia stood forlornly near the complicated seals that held Metalia back, the seal sigils glowing an eerie black.

On Earth...

Beryl, having found forbidden texts within the Golden Kingdom's Royal Library on loosing Metalia's Seal, had set up an alter to perform a ritual to summon the malignant being before her. "O benevolent savior." she prostrated before the billowing dark entity. "I beg of you to grant me my deepest desire and in return, I surrender my body to you as a vessel."

"Very well." Metalia droned. "Accept this gift." she injected a small portion of her power into Beryl.

Beryl let out a long, pained scream at the sudden inclusion of demonic magic.

"Now, hear my next instructions, Beryl." Metalia ordered. "Soon..." the shapeless entity chuckled maliciously after Beryl exited the ritual room. "My day of vengeance will come soon."

Near Metalia's Seal...

"I'll have all living things buried with me!" Metalia's voice bellowed from the Seal. "No one can get away from me." it then let loose a wave of dark energy from behind its Seal and forcing Alesdair's squad to raise a combined energy barrier. The sudden blast of energy pierced through the shield, shattering the troop's formation.

"Contain the Seal!" Eilís ordered her team, the group of barrier and seal users got into formation and channeled their magic into Eilís' crystal ball.

"Alesdair, we can't defeat Metalia." Aurnia pulled the Seal guardian's troop leader back.

"I am the leader of the Seal guardians." Alesdair stood his ground. "Even if we're no match for it, we still have to give it a try. All of us swore to defend the Seal with our lives. Metalia!" he shouted. "Us Seal guardians have been guarding you ever since you were sealed. Don't you dare dream of leaving the Seal and wrecking havoc!"

The terrified Aurnia backed off from her post and fled the scene.
