Chapter 18: The Beginning of The End, Part Two

High Priestess Beryl, Metalia's mouthpiece on Terra, looked down at the gathered army of youma in the Dark Kingdom's headquarters' plaza. Beside her, the four Shittenou stood with her on the podium and at the head of the youma army were the Seven Great Youma.

Beryl had whispered in ears and spread her evil and treasonous intentions using her magic and the tremendous power she had gained from Metalia. The infatuated woman was confident and positive that with the Moon Princess out of the way, she would have Endymion all to herself and would eventually be Queen of both Terra and the Moon.

And finally, with her army at full force, she moved to invade the Moon Kingdom; her mind kept replaying the vision Metalia showed her: Princess Serenity stood over Endymion's fallen figure. The Moon's Holy Blade was in her hands. In one swift moment, she thrust the sword down and pierced the Endymion's heart. The sacred Ginzuishou rose from Serenity's breast and glowed ominously as the Golden Crystal was extracted from Endymion's body. The White Moon Princess then merged the Golden Crystal with the Ginzuishou and turned to Queen Selenity for approval.

Days later...

Princess Serenity was gazing lovingly on Terra from the Moon Castle's balcony when Prince Endymion appeared below the veranda with a warning.

"Princess Serenity." Endymion called out.

"Prince Endymion." Princess Serenity beamed.

"Please pardon me for being late to the ball." Endymion voiced.

"I have been waiting for you." Serenity declared.

"Something terrible has happened." Endymion informed. "Most of us on Terra have been brainwashed by Beryl. Beryl has been possessed by an evil energy called Metalia. And now, she's taking advantage of the humans' yearning for the longevity of your people and getting ready to attack the Moon. At the ball..." he reminded and ran off before he was caught by the palace guards.

Later that night...

Princess Serenity was in her full royal regalia and walking down the ballroom's staircase, the ball was being held in honor of her 18th birthday.

"Princess." the masked Endymion rested a hand on Serenity's wrist. "May I? There is no doubt that a bitter war is about to break out between you and us Terra people." he pulled Serenity close as they began the dance. "I will be your future enemy, so it would be bad for my identity to be known now. So, please pardon my appearance. Metalia is not a human being; she is a mass of evil energy. Beryl is a witch. By using the power of Metalia, she is trying to conquer the Moon and Terra. If we do nothing, the Moon will be destroyed." he told Serenity outside the ballroom afterwards. "We must not waste a moment in obliterating Metalia who possesses an enormous amount of evil energy and crushing Beryl's ambitions. I will like your help in this, Serenity. Will you believe in what I just told you?"

"Yes." Serenity whispered.

Barely a week later...

"It's terrible!" Luna ran in with Artemis in tow.

"The people of Terra are attacking us!" Artemis shouted.

Metalia's large figure loomed over the peaceful Moon Castle, raining thunderbolts around the Sea of Serenity and destroying the architecture.

"Azure Dragon's Tail!" Sailor Mercury released a water vortex from her Mercury Harp.

"Explosive Fire Storm!" Sailor Mars fired off nine volleys of fireballs from her Mars Arrow.

"Cross Thunder!" Sailor Jupiter's concentrated lightning sphere shot from her Leaves of Oak.

"Explosive Beam!" Sailor Venus charged up light magic using the rose crystals on her Love Whip and fired it together with the other Inner Senshi's attacks at Metalia.

The combined attack did nothing to the evil entity and Metalia took out all four Inner Senshi with a dark energy tornado.

"Starting today, I will rule both Terra and the Moon!" Beryl laughed, claiming the Inner Senshi's weapons as prizes. "I will not allow anyone to defy me. Our beloved Metalia, this is the true birth of our Dark Kingdom." she wrecked more devastation with her magic staff as well as summoning the Shittenou to the frontlines. "So, you're Princess Serenity?" she teleported before her love rival. "I will destroy that pretty face of yours!" she sneered charging in to maim Serenity's face.

A thrown rose from Endymion stopped Beryl's attack. "Beryl, I will not forgive you if you lay a single finger on the Princess."

"Why do you protect the Princess of the Moon?" Beryl demanded. "You are the Prince of Terra. If you would just marry me, you can be King of both Terra and the Moon. You do know what that witch is planning? She desires to merge the Golden Crystal with the Ginzuishou after killing you!"

"Beryl, you are being misguided by Metalia, who possesses evil energy." Endymion warned. "Wake up. Rid yourself of the evil mind."

"Shut up." Beryl snapped. "I will kill you too." she channeled more power from Metalia and shot down a vortex of dark energy at the couple and splitting them up. Another bolt of energy from Metalia killed the lovers.

"Serenity!" Queen Selenity cried out.

"She's dead." Beryl bragged. "The Moon Princess is dead."

"Queen Selenity..." Luna gaped, both Mau cats turned when they saw the shine of the Ginzuishou after Queen Selenity attached the crystal to the Moon Stick. "If you use the Ginzuishou, your life will..."

"My life is nothing compared to peace on the Moon and Terra." Queen Selenity made up her mind. "Moon Healing Escalation!" she unleashed the Ginzuishou's power, sealing away Metalia and her army. "Luna, Artemis." the dying Moon Queen started. "The Ginzuishou can be used for peace if it is used with the energy of a good heart. But, if it is used with the energy of an evil heart, it will become a terrible weapon. I have been able to seal Metalia away with the Ginzuishou, but there is no knowing when she will be revived again. That is why I had tasked the Planetary Queens to pour their own lifeforce, along with their daughters', into their own Imperial Crystals and use that energy as fortification of this seal. This Crescent Moon Stick can only be used by a descendant of this Kingdom. If Metalia should return to life again in the future, give this to Princess Serenity and protect this peaceful world. Princess Serenity and all our Sailor Senshi, may your love be fulfilled in the future on Earth." she cast her next spell and transmigrated the fallen into the future. "In the future of Earth, please live happy lives." with that, she breathed her last. The falling Moon Stick then locked Luna and Artemis in time capsules and sent the two Mau cats their way.
