"Can we set a hard goal for when I can go home?" Gabriel's tablet sounded when Dr Monet once more came to check upon him.

"I want you to be able to 'stand' upon your legs so your transfers from bed to the chair will be a lot easier. Your legs, when someone supports you, may not buckle under your weight for a least one minute. Is that a good enough goal for you, Mr Agreste?"

"Yes."

"Very well." Dr Monet agreed. "Now let's go see how your feeling is. You will need to feel to be able to stand."

Nathalie was glad when she finally could do something for Gabriel once more. She spend a full day sifting through CV's so she could find someone for her boss. By the end of the evening, she had narrowed it down to just three that she would invite for an interview. The first candidate was Otto. He was a fellow in the late fifties and had been working in Switzerland for almost three decades before he moved to France to be closer to his daughter. The second one was Léa. She was a woman in her late thirties, dyed red hair, and eager to get back to work now that her child was finally going to attend college. The third applicant Nathalie had chosen was Pierre. A young man with dark brown hair, in his early thirties, who turned out, was not shy to show his mind. After discussing the possible candidates with Gabriel, the final decision fell for Pierre.

With that out of the way, several alterations were done to the Agreste mansion. Outside, a large ramp got built to reach the front door, inside, a small lift next to the entrance door was installed to overcome the height difference. A hospital bed was placed in Gabriel's bedroom as well. The biggest change was made to the bathroom. Now the wait could begin before the doctor would finally clear Gabriel to come home.

It was after several weeks that Pierre came to check out his new working place. When Adrien came home after his fencing lesson that afternoon, he noticed one of the doors upstairs was wide open, even though those rooms were barely to never used. Cautiously, Adrien approached the door after offering Plagg a little smile. There was a young man in the room, thoughtfully looking at the pieces of furniture that were in the room.

"Can I help you?" Adrien asked, making the man look up.

"I do not think so. I do not know where to move it." The man thoughtfully replied before he walked up to the door where Adrien was still standing. "I am Pierre. I will be here for everything that Mr Agreste needs when he comes home." He stuck out his hand. "You must be Mr Agreste's son, right?"

"I am Adrien. Yes. Nice to meet you." Adrien replied as he shook the man's hand.

"I'll be using this room for as long as your father needs my assistance. Do you have any problems with that?"

"No, why would I?" Adrien asked as he studied the man. "Did Father have no objections to your tattoos?"

"Not that I know off, and otherwise it won't be my problem." Pierre shrugged. Adrien nodded; it was kind of cool to see his whole arm was decorated. "Nice to have met you, Adrien. You are always welcome with any kind of question." Pierre invited before he turned back to the bag that was standing at the foot of the bed.

"It is nice to have met you as well. Have a nice afternoon." Adrien politely greeted him before he returned to his room.

"Do you think I can get a picture of camembert?" Plagg popped out of Adrien's pocket as soon as he closed the door. The Kwami frantically waved his little arm in front of Adrien's face.

"I don't think any permanent will work though. Maybe try body paint?" Adrien chuckled as he shook his head. "I'll see what I can do for you."

Adrien could not help but grin after he received a text from Nathalie.

"What is going on?" Nino asked when Adrien kept grinning at his phone. "If it is a cute puppy video, you are obligated to share it with everyone."

"No puppy video," Adrien said as he looked up. "Nathalie texted me. Father will be finally coming home this afternoon."

"No way, really?" Nino asked, just starting to grin himself. "That is awesome!"

"I feel like shouting it from the rooftops." Adrien grinned.

"You should." Nino agreed a little too loudly, drawing everyone else's attention.

"Why are you shouting, Nino?" Chloé was the first one to ask.

"Father is finally coming home from the hospital, Chloé," Adrien replied.

"I am so happy for you, Adrien!" Alya cheered like many others from his class. All of them were in a happy buzz for the remainder of the afternoon lessons. So much that Mrs Bustier did not even teach.

"I am so happy for Adrien." Marinette sighed as she watched the blonde photo model. "His smile is so beautiful…"

"I can't imagine almost losing your parent while you already lost one." Alya mused.

"Me neither," Marinette replied once she came down from her Adrien cloud. The loud ringing of the school bell cut off Marinette's train of thoughts.

"I will see you tomorrow!" Adrien almost shouted as he jumped up, quickly stuffing everything in his bag before dashing off. Once Adrien was nearly home, it was apparent that he was not the only one excited for his father to return. Many people had gathered at the gate in the hope they would be able to catch a glimpse of the designer. The boy dashed upstairs and got the banner he made for when his father would finally come home. He kept grinning as he fastened it to the frame of the painting above the stairs. He was about to admire the result from the door when he felt his phone buzz.

"Nathalie?" Adrien asked as he picked up his phone.

"Are you already home, Adrien?" Nathalie asked.

"Yes, I am. There are a lot of people outside of the gate."

"There were more than enough people here at the hospital as well. We will arrive at approximately ten minutes."

"I will be waiting for you outside," Adrien replied before Nathalie hung up. Ten minutes later, indeed a car arrived, going extra slow to reach the gate so everyone would get time to move out of the way. Gorilla had his hands full on making sure everyone stayed outside of the gate who did not belong inside it. Nathalie parked the car in front of the ramp as Adrien came down it with the wheelchair. Pierre made sure Gabriel was safely moved from the car seat into the wheelchair before pushing him up the ramp. As soon as that happened, all the people who could catch a glimpse started cheering. No doubt this would be in the news tonight. His father was dressed like he always did, and besides the feeding tube, he looked exactly like Adrien remembered.

"Finally… Home…" Gabriel stated once the front door was closed.

"I am very glad you are home as well, father." Adrien could not help but grin, making Nathalie smile as well. "Welcome home."

"Time for dinner," Pierre announced as he got up from the sofa, where he had spent the last hour with the Agreste family. Adrien curiously looked at the caretaker as he got behind the wheelchair and went to take his father to the dining room. Adrien followed, smiling at Nathalie when she came to join them as well. Instead of having both ends of the table set, one side of the table was set for four. Pierre parked Gabriel at the head of the table before he tucked a napkin in his collar and spread one over his lap. With a piece of Velcro, Pierre fastened the wide-handled spoon around Gabriel's hand.

"All right, there you go," Pierre said when he had finished. Gabriel gave a small nod before he dipped the spoon in one of the two bowls in front of his nose and started eating.

"Adrien, you should start eating as well." Nathalie softly said when she noticed the boy was still watching his father intently. Adrien cast his eyes down before he went to eat. He had never meant to stare at his father. Gabriel needed almost an hour before he mostly finished both bowls. He hated how everyone watched as he tried not to make a mess of himself.

"What was father actually eating?" Adrien inquired to Pierre when Nathalie had wheeled his father from the room.

"Mostly the same as us. Just pureed." Pierre looked up. "The chef called in abomination when I asked him to almost liquify Gabriel's dinner."

"Will father need to eat like this forever?"

"I do not hope so. As soon as your father can eat three meals by himself, the tube will come out, and hopefully, from there on, he can build up his strength. First soft foods, then hopefully normal greens and potatoes, and who knows he will be once more enjoying a nice piece of meat." Pierre explained.

"That is good to know." Adrien agreed.

"Go to the living room, then I'll be right there with some tea. Your father shall be quite tired after such a long and exciting day." Adrien nodded and went to join Nathalie and his father.

A/N: Please Read and Review!

All right dear readers, this will be a long note. I just want to give you the heads up about the next part of the story as Gabriel recovers. I could not find any other corresponding literature of people who were willing to share about their lives after their got poisoned and survived. Most likely Gabriel should have never been able to recover in the first place, but for sake of the story, he does. (Also, because I want to have a story with a somewhat happy ending instead of writing a tragedy.)
So, most of what Gabriel will go through I remember from my grandmother who was suffering from the auto-immune disease called SLE and in her case mostly attacked the end of her nerves, so she lost most of the sensation in her hands and feet.
Please do not take the accuracy of this story as I spent many hours researching to make it as accurate as possible, but I might have accidentally or not altered some things.
Yes, I am going to put in some of my grandmother's struggles. I miss her a lot, but at least she is not suffering anymore.
Have a great day!
