As Saphira woke up again, she did not realize another four hours had passed and it was after twelve in the afternoon. She opened her eyes for a moment before she realized she couldn't feel Freddy on her cheek. She tensed and panicked for a second, only to feel his body beside and she looked up at him with fear filled eyes. Freddy was surprised by her sudden reaction and she snuggled against him as he tightened his arm around her.
"I am right here, super star, I told you I won't go anywhere," Freddy said to her gently as she calmed down against him. "You have had many hours to sleep. I hope you are feeling better. At least you are not throwing up."
Saphira was glad for that, though her head was still throbbing. She took a deep breath and she looked at him with a smile. "I am feeling better, thank you. I do need to use the bathroom though, so…" She moved to sit up, Freddy helped her and sat up with her. "I may need a hand. Not sure if my legs…" Saphira paused as she saw Darren sitting at the small dining table looking at her with a pile of paperwork. "Oh, hi Darren."
"Hello Saphira. I am pleased you're recovering well." He smiled at her and looked back down at his paperwork. "Ignore me, I am just doing some paperwork I need to do. I just came to make sure you are okay and if you would like some soup."
"Tomato soup definitely sounds nice," Saphira said with a nod as she moved her feet from under the covers to the floor. She looked down at the pyjamas with a smile. "It feels very weird not being in my uniform here. But…also natural at the same time."
"I bet it does. How do you think you will feel for tonight?" Darren asked curiously, she looked at him in surprise. "You are free to take it very easy tonight, Saphira. I will completely understand."
She had not really considered about her next shift, but right now, she really didn't care. Freddy helped her to stand and she grimaced, placing a hand on her head as she felt a painful throb when she was standing. She noticed she didn't have to cold back on her forehead anymore, which meant the lump must have gone down enough that she didn't need it. She took a step foreward when she suddenly felt as though the room was spinning.
"Woah!" She clenched her eyes shut and held her head, hunching over slightly and felt Freddy's hands on her back. "Everything feels like it is spinning…"
"Oh…vertigo…" Darren sighed and looked at Freddy. "Carry her if you need to. She hit her head pretty hard, plus whatever was injected into her could be affecting her mind."
Freddy did not know what vertigo was, but he saw how if was affecting her and he carefully picked her up to carry her to the bathroom. Mr Hippo and Foxette were seated on the couch watching quietly, they said nothing as they did not want to overwhelm her even though she seemed better. Although it was hard to tell given what had happened on her previous shift.
Saphira opened her eyes as Freddy entered the bathroom and lowered her to the ground by the toilet. "That feels a bit better…" She sighed as she rubbed her head for a moment before slipping off her pants to sit on the toilet. She held her head in her hands before she began to sob softly. "I'm scared Freddy…I don't know what was injected into me…it scares me…"
"I know, I know…" He dropped to one knee and took her hands into his, smiling as her gently as she looked up at him. "I am scared for you Saphira. If he still intends on creating a body of living metal and flesh, he is doing what he can to do it."
"I know…I worry so much…" Saphira glanced away from him and wiped the tears from her cheeks. "Even if I am not pregnant…if I…somehow could get pregnant…" She moved a shaky hand to her stomach as she thought about that fear. "Would it be an empty vessel…or would it have a soul…I would just deliver it to a monster either way…"
Freddy gazed at her stomach, he was not educated about human reproduction, even though he has seen pregnant women before. "Do not be worried about something that has not happened, or will not happen."
"You don't know that Freddy!" Saphira snapped, sniffling softly and wiping more tears away. "My stomach hurts…it's worse than period pain if I am honest…"
He frowned a little at that, he did not know what she meant by that. "Is there anything I can do to help?"
"Sorry, it needs to heal on it's own." Saphira leaned back a little, lifting her shirt to look at the bandage. "You did a good job with this. It isn't so tight or loose."
"You have to thank Foxette for that, she has some knowledge of looking after humans, she's teaching us a little," Freddy said with a smile. "I wouldn't mind having that in my system. It would help me to understand human illness and injuries better, and to treat them."
That was definitely something Saphira could upload into their system. But she would wait on that one. Saphira sighed and she wiped herself as she had finished and flushed the toilet. She glanced at the shower, she really felt the need for one. She stepped towards the shower and Freddy was quick to notice she wanted a shower and watched her undress. He grimaced as he saw the bandage. She touched it to feel if it could get wet or not. Thankfully, it could. She turned on the shower, turning the taps so the water was lukewarm. She had no intention of a really hot or cold shower.
Once she was under it though, she immediately felt a lot better. "This is what I needed…" She tilts her head back, allowing the water to hit her body. She turned her head and looked at Freddy before sighing. Freddy was noticing she seemed worried he would not be there for some reason. "Care to join me?"
"Is that even necessary?" Freddy asked curiously, she turned to look at him in surprise. "You are injured and unwell Saphira…"
"I just want you to be with me, I am not asking for anything more." Saphira looked down for a moment and looked away from him. "Is it really that difficult?"
The animatronic hesitated, he did not want to step into the shower in case Saphira wanted to do something more. However, he heard her crying softly again, she really needed a lot of comfort it would seem. He stepped into the shower and hugged her gently from behind. She turned around, smiling at him and hugging him, sniffling softly again as she continued to cry softly.
"I should tell you that I need to go recharge once you have finished your shower." She looked up at him in shock, which was surprising since she knew he needed to recharge. "Otherwise I will end up shutting down or going through some kind of malfunction. It won't take long, just a quick trip to Rockstar Row and I'll be back."
"But…" Saphira paused as she thought of her words for a moment. "You won't disappear will you?"
He frowned a little at her question. "Of course not. Though I may use the Parts and Service charging station to avoid guests seeing me since my room is black out at the moment."
Saphira knew he needed to recharge. He should recharge. Yet, she had a fear in her that he would disappear if she wasn't touching him or seeing him. She didn't know why, but she just wanted to hold onto his arm all the time. She considered going with him to make sure he would not disappear.
"Can I come with you?" Saphira asked gently, looking at him with pleading eyes.
"Uh…not sure if you should…" Freddy shrugged slightly and tilts his head as he heard her whimpering a little. "What makes you think I am going to disappear Saphira? I won't, there has been no threat or indication that I will be taken out. You should not worry."
"I don't know…I just…fear it." Saphira rubbed her hands over her body, washing away the filth and sweat from the previous shift felt wonderful. "I know you need to recharge…I just…I don't know…"
Freddy hummed a little, if this was part of her personality change, he hoped it was just temporary. But it could be a legitimate fear she had, and it was just suddenly showing a lot more because of the traumatic experience she had gone through. For now, he knew being gentle was the only thing they could do to try and lessen the pain she was going through.
"At least you can wash your hair in your favourite shampoo," Freddy said as cheerfully as he could to distract her.
She smiled as she saw the bottle on the shelf. "Yeah I guess..." She grabbed it to pour some onto her hand and massage through her hair. "Even though I just wanted a plain shower." She sniffed the aroma of the shampoo, Freddy sniffed too as the fresh scent was really nice. "But the aroma is nice."
"It certainly is. I love it, and it makes your hair so nice and soft." Freddy watches the shampoo foaming in her hair. "You will definitely feel better after this."
Saphira didn't disagree with that at all. She began to rinse the shampoo from her hair, feeling the foam run down her back and she smiled as her hair felt soft once again. It was really, really nice to feel. She ran her fingers through her hair to squeeze as much of the shampoo out until she could see the water was running clear. She smiled, feeling satisfied and looked at Freddy, he seemed entranced with how she washed her hair and he leaned in, enjoying the aroma coming from the strands.
"I think I'm done with the shower, it was really nice," Saphira said with a smile. "But you still didn't say if I could come with you when you go for your recharge."
"I did say I am not sure if you should, you're struggling Saphira. I can see it, I may not understand fullly…" Freddy frowned slightly because he wished he did understand. That frustrated him the most. "But you could barely walk without assistance. I don't think you should come with me. I won't go anywhere, I can promise you that."
She was frowning as she didn't want him to leave her alone. "But…"
"I know you are scared. Mr Hippo and Foxette are there, they will help you." Freddy cups her head gently with his large hairs, he could see her tears even when they were being washed away. "Let Mr Hippo be the father you see him, he will not let you down."
Saphira just nodded silently, breathing heavily as she tried not to let herself cry. She knew Mr Hippo would not let her down, so she was not worried about that. She just had this huge fear of losing him now, it was not going away. She turned off the shower, though she stood there and Freddy noticed her legs were shaky. He grabbed a towel and wrapped it around her, keeping her steady and Saphira gripped the towel to dry herself as he helped her. Her legs felt like jelly and she nearly slipped, but he didn't let her fall and hurt herself. Saphira was enjoying his attentiveness towards her, she just didn't want him to leave. Once dry, he helped her back into the pyjamas and she managed to walk out of the bathroom on wobbly legs.
"Did the shower make you feel better?" Darren asked Saphira gently with a smile. "I will go and get you the soup you want. I'll be back soon." He stood from the table and walked towards the elevator. He stopped and looked at her with a sad expression. "I really am sorry for what happened to you."
"You should stop apologizing," Saphira said, looking at the man with a gentle smile. "You didn't do anything."
"I know…I know." Darren looked away from her as he gazed at the floor. "Sadly, I'm powerless to do anything. Let me know if you need anything from outside the pizzaplex. I will go and get it for you."
"Thank you…" Saphira really did appreciate it. She stumbled over to the bed and gathered the blankets for a moment and looked up at Freddy. "Can't you just stay a little longer?"
Freddy shakes his head at her. "I can't, I really need to recharge." He turned to Mr Hippo and gestured for him to come over. "Can you keep her company? She seems to be fearful that I will disappear."
"But you might!" Saphira exclaimed fearfully, she moved to stand up quickly, only for her to drop back on the bed and hold her head. "Ohh…that was a bad idea." She groaned and laid on the pillow. "Ow…my head…"
"I will keep an eye on her," Mr Hippo said as he approached the bed and sat down on it, placing his hand on Saphira's side to rub gently. "I am here Saphira. We are not going anywhere."
Saphira looked at him with a frown and gasped as she saw Freddy turn away and walk towards the Parts and Service door. "Please come back…" He glanced back at her as he heard the fear in her voice. "I don't want to be left alone…"
"You have me Saphira," Mr Hippo said to her in a reassuring tone, but she was not listening to him, her eyes were on Freddy. "He'll come back soon, don't you worry."
"Mr Hippo's right Saphira, you will be okay." Freddy smiled at her to reassure her as he opened the door. "I can talk to you through the Fazwatch, will that be better?"
She shakes her head, a Fazwatch communication would not replace his presence. "I'd rather you just be here."
Freddy nodded in understanding. "I understand Saphira. But would you really want to see my system crashing from lack of charge?" She shakes her head again and frowned. "I knew you would understand Saphira. I will be back in a couple minutes."
Saphira watched the door closed and she grumbled to herself. Mr Hippo had been silently observing Saphira's behavior, it has definitely changed rather noticeably. He doubts she's noticed it, however it seemed to be between childish and fear driven behaviour. He wasn't going to upset her about it though, he guessed maybe some of her past fears had come back up from this and she was reacting to the situation. But…Darren did warn of a behaviour changed based on whatever she was injected with. It could easily be the most explainable part of her behaviour, however he would reserve that judgement for the time being.
"Can I have some water?" Saphira asked suddenly, looking up at Mr Hippo with a worried face. "I feel very thirsty. But…I also need to take my mind of worrying about Freddy…" She glanced away from him for a moment. "I feel like I could cry right now."
Foxette was up and already filling her a cup of water as Saphira spoke to Mr Hippo. "You will be okay Saphira. I think, in someway, there is a way for you to stay in the pizzaplex for as long as you want without leaving. I think that is pretty good."
Saphira knew that one too, but she still didn't like that it wasn't on her terms. It was on another's term. "I suppose it is something…but…it brings me no joy Mr Hippo. Even though…I don't think you could force me away from the pizzaplex right now. You would have to drag me out kicking and screaming, and even then, I would have my arms hooked around Freddy."
"Yeah, I am starting to get that. Why do you suddenly have this fear anyway?" Mr Hippo looked at her curiously as Foxette brought the cup over and Saphira began to sip from it. "It…sure, I can blame the virus…"
"To be honest, I don't know. I would blame it too honestly." Saphira sipped more water slowly as she enjoyed the cool feeling running down her throat. "It is not me, I know. I am not myself. And I think…I will be this way until something happens. And I can't even think what that might be."
"It is worrisome…" Mr Hippo moved his hand to rub her back gently with a smile. "But we are here to support you. I think you should start by retraining your mind to be okay with Freddy not being here all the time. Because…" She opened her mouth to say something, but he raised his hand to stop her. "When you are feeling better, Freddy needs to go back to business as usual. Do you really want to feel like you're being selfish?"
She thought about his words for a few minutes. "I don't feel it is selfish…I mean, how can you feel selfish about wanting to spend time with someone that you love? I don't really care if the guests miss him, they don't know him like I do."
"I see…well…you still need to get yourself prepared for that. You know it." Yes, yes she did. Saphira didn't like it though. It felt like everything that she knew as normal has been scrambled and it was frightening for her. Mr Hippo could see it too. "At least you are surrounded by family."
"Yeah, I am very lucky." Saphira grinned at that and shuffled a little to hug Mr Hippo. "Thanks for being here for me…I am still struggling, but somehow talking to you just makes it seem better."
"Well, apart from being your father figure, it turns out I am your therapist too," Mr Hippo responded jokingly as he hugged her back. "I'll do whatever I can to make you feel better, Saphira. I may not be Freddy, but that is probably a good thing."
Saphira giggled softly and sipped some water again. "Yes, of course, it is a good thing. Oh well…" Saphira turned her head to look at the door and she became worried again. "He said a couple minutes…"
"He's on his way back already Saphira, be calm." Mr Hippo smiled as he saw her smile at that. But, the worry in her eyes was still lingering there. "Darren should be back shortly too with your soup. I suppose you'll have Freddy spoon feed you?"
"Maybe, my hands do kind of feel shaky," Saphira said with a shrug. "I'd be worried about spilling the soup. But if I get grilled cheese to go with it maybe…I don't know. My stomach isn't feel bleh right now."
"At least that is a good thing, I bet throwing up is worse than what it smells like." She nodded, it well and truly was, Mr Hippo chuckled at that confirmation. "We are lucky we don't have the same issues as humans do."
"Yeah, I am jealous about that," Saphira said with a chuckle and looked up as the door opened. "You're finally back!"
"I told you I would not be gone long," Freddy responded with a smile, closing the door behind him and approaching the bed. "You are worrying for nothing, Saphira. I am unharmed, I just need to recharge when I need to."
Mr Hippo stood up from the bed so Freddy could sit down beside her. She was quick to hug him tightly like she hasn't seen him in months. "I know…I…I was still worried. I don't know why, but I will try not to be so worried."
Kissing her forehead gently, Freddy did understand that it was just her fear and the injection's effects mixing with that was not helping. "It is okay, super star. I won't go anywhere now."
Saphira was relieved and sipped the rest of the water before Foxette took the cup from her. She didn't even know if she would get to have the soup, she was feeling tired again. She was surprised by how tired she had been, but her body really did need to recover. She hoped she could maybe fix Mr Hippo's stomach hatch later, but she was not counting on it.
Saphira moved to pull the blankets around her some more and Freddy looked at her curiously. "Sorry, I feel cold suddenly."
"Let me help." Freddy smiled as he shifted to get his legs under the blankets and shuffled so his body was against hers. "Does that feel better?"
"Yes, yes it does. Whenever that soup gets here, that will be better. Although…" Saphira looked at him curiously and smirked slightly. "If I need help with eating the soup, you're sitting in an awkward position right now."
Freddy chuckled lightly at her. "Anything for my lovely Saphira."
The elevator dings and they look up to see Darren with Bonnie holding the tray. Saphira smiled when she saw Bonnie. "Bonnie! I thought you have a lot of birthdays scheduled today."
"I still do, but they are in a few hours," Bonnie responded as he walked towards the bed carefully with the tray. "I wanted to drop by and see how you were doing Saphira. You seem to be a lot better now."
"I feel better…but I still have more recovering to do," Saphira responded and the rabbit nodded as he understood. Saphira sniffed the aroma coming the covered soup. "That smells good!" She felt her stomach growling suddenly and she was pleased at that. "Now I feel hungry."
"One step at a time," Freddy said softly and nuzzled her gently, sitting up and taking the tray as he set it down. "It does smell very pleasant."
"Mmm hmm…tomato soup with basil and garlic…it smells so good!" Saphira rubbed her hands together as Freddy lifted the lid and to her delight, there were a couple slices of grilled cheese and garlic bread. "Yummy! I might not need a spoon!"
She grabbed the grilled cheese and dipped the corner into the soup before taking a bite. She smiled as she tasted the rich, hearty soup and gave a thumb's up. "Well, she likes it," Freddy said with a smile as he watched her eat. He wanted her to eat as much as possible because it will strengthen her body. "I hope you can eat all of it."
"I will try to," Saphira responded as she took the next bite.
"I have heard the food at Chica Chowder is exceptional," Bonnie said as he watched Saphira eat the soup and bread. He too was glad she was eating. "It is always busy. At least it isn't just a place for seafood."
"No, that is correct. Wouldn't mind another restaurant with Mediterranean food," Darren said thoughtfully. Saphira tuned in as she was curious about it. "I honestly was going to call it the Glam Lido Deck, basically basing the design off cruise ship restaurants."
"You do know each cruise ship is different…right?" Saphira asked curiously as she listened to him. "I mean, that is a great idea. But…I don't know, doesn't really suit the pizzaplex. I'm going to deny it. But the concept for a Mediterranean restaurant, yeah I can see it. Especially since Mr Hippo, Pigpatch and Orville have accents from that part of the world."
"Mmm…well, it is something to think about." Darren shrugged as he sat at the table and continued going through his paperwork. "But we are running out of room in the atrium anyway, so a new area might be necessary."
Saphira knew that too. But, for the time being, she didn't know how it would be expanded. The place was big enough as it was. She really would prefer having less places to keep an eye on as a security guard. Nonetheless, that was not something she would think on for a long time. She managed to eat most of the food, she ate the grill cheese and two of the garlic bread, and finish the whole soup. She was surprised by how exhausted she physically was by the end of it. It was like walking, standing and eating was all one big effort for her body. Perhaps it was given what it had gone through. So, she ended up going to sleep fifteen minutes after she finished eating, while again insisting Freddy remain next to her so she wouldn't wake up and panic that he is not there. This new behavior definitely had them all worried for her.
