Happy Wednesday everyone! I'm pretty far ahead with my writing. Thank you for all the encouraging reviews, they are much appreciated!
Chapter Five
"Breakfast will be ready soon," Caius said. "Dora, help Isabella get ready. Get rid of those clothes, they're disgusting."
I looked down at my clothes; I was wearing a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. They weren't dirty. I wasn't sure what he meant by disgusting.
As he left the room, Dora stood. She walked to the door that he had left ajar and closed it. Her head fell for a moment as she took several deep breaths.
"Let's get you washed up," Dora said softly as she turned around. "I have some nice smelling soaps you can use. Just wash your body, don't worry about your hair. My hair stylist is going to come over later and help you with that."
"I-I don't want to cut my h-hair," I said, trembling slightly.
"She's just going to trim it up. And fix your eyebrows. It'll be good."
I slowly shook my head. "I just… can I please just… I don't want to—,"
"I'm going to give you a little advice," She said, her voice lowering. "Caius does not like it when anyone stutters or can't get their words out. If you can't speak clearly, please don't speak at all."
My eyes widened. "I-I'm sorry."
"I understand you're a little afraid. I'm sure James was very difficult to deal with. He can be a pill." She sighed. "Now go shower. Quickly please."
I nodded and walked into the bathroom.
This had to be the biggest bathroom I had ever been into. The bathtub had its own corner with a large chandelier hanging above it. There were two sinks on a large marble bar below a mirror that was bigger than I was. It was a lot, but it was pretty.
It took me at least five minutes to figure out the controls on the shower. There was a panel with several buttons that I just didn't understand. I ended up taking a freezing cold shower because I knew I was running low on time.
I walked out of the bathroom shivering, keeping the towel wrapped tightly around me. Dora was holding a lavender silk night dress that was very similar to the dress she was wearing.
She looked up when I walked out. "Hopefully this'll fit. You're very tiny."
I blushed; I knew I was smaller than I should be. I was barely five-foot, and I had a hard time maintaining my weight of a hundred pounds. There were a lot of times when the group home had a very limited amount of food and the older kids tended to go without. I knew my eating habits were all over the place. Sometimes I'd eat everything, hide food, and then there were periods like this where food just disgusted me. The thought of eating right now made my stomach churn.
I pulled the dress over my head only to suddenly feel self-conscious as I looked at myself in the mirror. The dress was way too big, I looked like a little girl playing in her mother's dresses. The only thing that saved me from having a little boy's body was the small swell of my breasts. I was just barely a b-cup, and I clung to that b for dear life. I hated it when people said I looked like a boy.
Dora sighed as she pulled some of the material back and tied it off. She then placed a robe like hers around me.
"That looks a lot better." She nodded.
I didn't think it looked any better, the material still hung loosely on me. It did look slightly better, but it was too big.
"Why can't I just wear my own clothes?" I asked.
"Caius is funny about women's clothes." Dora said. "He has a certain style he prefers. I went ahead and ordered a few racks of clothing for you. Some stylish pieces that'll look nice."
"I really don't need new clothes." I said.
"Just take them. Please." She said. "Now let's go. Caius is waiting."
I had to lift the front of the dress as I followed her out of the room. Walking to where Caius was had been almost a ten-minute walk. I couldn't believe there were houses this big. It was filled with all sorts of expensive art pieces. It was impressive, but somewhat scary, like living in a museum where if you made one wrong move, you'd pay for it.
Caius was sitting at a large table beside an equally large bay window. The window was looking over a large backyard filled with several luxury amenities. I wondered how the grass was so lush in this harsh environment. Most of the California I had seen was filled with nothing but desert dust.
"What is that?" Caius asked when he looked over his newspaper. His gaze was on me.
"She's a little skinny," Dora said as she sat. "A common issue with children in foster care."
He made a face. "Skinny would be a bonus. She looks like a little boy."
Dora made a tsking noise. "Caius, be easy on Isabella. She's had a very rough life."
"I don't want Felix associated with someone who looks like a boy. They'll think he's with a transgendered."
"With some healthy meals and regular exercise and some nice clothing, she'll look so much better."
Caius snorted. "I have never heard of a situation where a woman would look better if she ate more."
"Be patient, dear. She'll be just fine. In a month or so, she'll be perfect. She is a very pretty girl; you have to admit that." Dora said, patting his hand gently. "Isabella, please sit. Help yourself to some fruit while Margret finishes breakfast."
I cautiously took a seat at the table. I wasn't sure if they remembered I was still here, considering how they talked about me as if I weren't standing here.
"Felix should be here soon." Caius said. "I called him a little bit ago. He had just landed."
Dora sighed happily. "Oh I'm so glad. I've missed him so much!"
"So, Isabella," Caius said as he twisted in his seat to face me. "James informed me that you were awarded first place at your dance competition. You had the only perfect score of the day."
I nodded, unsure of how he wanted me to answer.
"How many other times have you won?"
"Oh…um I-I've never c-compe—."
He snorted hatefully. "Girl, you better stop stuttering."
I started trembling. "I'm sorry."
He nodded once. "Now tell me, are you a champion dancer?"
"No." I said, keeping my answer to one word. I tended to stutter when I was nervous, and I didn't want to give him a reason to hurt me because I couldn't stop stuttering.
"Oh," His face fell slightly. "Well, what has been your placement in other competitions?"
"I've never competed before." I said, forcing myself to speak clearly.
A smile appeared upon his face. "It was your first competition? And you won with a perfect score? Ha! A champion dancer, that's excellent. Dora, I want you to find Isabella the best dance coach on the west coast. I want everyone to know that she is a champion. It would make all of those other idiots with their worthless wives so envious! Felix's status will be high above the rest."
A woman rolling a large tray walked out and started passing plates out. She laid a large plate in front of me. It was loaded with eggs, toast, and two large pieces of sausage. The portions were huge. The portions on this plate looked what I would usually eat in a span of a week.
"Eat." Caius said to me.
I wished it had been one of those weird times where I just stuffed my face until I could see straight. I wasn't sure how I could hide any of this food because it didn't come in a plastic wrap. There was nowhere I could shove it where they wouldn't see.
With a shaky hand, I grabbed my fork and started eating. I took in large pieces, just so I could get through eating faster. As soon as the first bite hit my stomach, I felt the urge to vomit. I kept it down; I would wait until I was alone in the bathroom, then I could purge.
"Mom, dad?" A masculine voice rang through the room.
"In here, Felix." Caius yelled, smiling widely. It was his first, non-threatening smile. I would've found it pleasant, had he not been so strange and scary.
Dora was halfway across the room when a mountainous man appeared in the doorway. His shoulders almost touched with side of the doorframe. He had light brown hair like Dora's, but he had his father's icy blue eyes.
"Hey mom." He said as Dora pulled him to her and kissed his cheek. His icy blue eyes fell upon me. "Who is that?"
"This is Isabella Swan," Caius smiled. "Come here, son. Come get acquainted with her."
Felix walked to the table with Dora. She grabbed her plate and moved into the unaccompanied seat, which left Felix to take the seat beside me. The woman who had served our food, produced another plate, and laid it in front of Felix.
"Isabella Swan?" Felix said. "As in, Charlie Swan's only kid?"
"Yep." Caius smiled.
"How do you know she's not lying? She looks like someone who would try to get in with rich people."
I shrunk down in my seat; that wasn't true at all. I had never in my life made it a priority to 'get with' someone who is rich. I just prayed I'd find someone whose love I could earn and keep. That's all I really wanted.
"I ordered a DNA test, and the results were very pleasing. She is in fact Charlie's daughter." Caius said.
Felix snorted. "How in the heck did you get a DNA test? Did you dig up Charlie and Ren—, uh, Charlie."
"No, but I did keep a bone. Preserved it all this time, hoping that Isabella would resurface."
"Oh wow." Felix said. "I thought she was dead. That's crazy."
"Well, whoever killed Charlie wouldn't have dared killed Isabella. She's far too valuable to be fish food."
"W-wait," I said. "I'm sorry but… w-what are you talking about? I'm not valuable."
Caius and Felix laughed as if I had just said the funniest thing ever.
"Your status is valuable." Caius said. "Your father was the most powerful man on the west coast."
"What happened to him?" I asked.
"Killed. It was tragic."
"What about my mother?"
A look akin to grief passed over Caius's face before he quickly replaced it with anger.
"Don't ask about her again, understand?" His tone so low and threatening that it send shivers down my spine.
"I-I'm sorry."
"I am very excited." Dora said quickly. "It's been so long since we've had a wedding. We'll throw a grand one. Everyone will be talking about it for years to come. And then grandkids!"
"Who's getting married?" I asked.
Dora paused and looked to Caius for an answer. It came quickly, without feeling.
"You and Felix will wed." Caius said.
My eyes widened. "W-why? I-I don't—,"
Caius continued. "In the next year, after I situate everything. We need to move carefully. If the Cullens catch wind, they'll surely come barreling in here and throw their weight around. As if Carlisle doesn't do that enough already."
Felix snorted. "Fuck Carlisle. And fuck Edward too. Nothing but a bunch of fucking punk bitches. Get me in a ring with Edward, and I'd take him out in the first round. He wouldn't stand a fucking chance. Little cunt."
"W-wait… I—." I was interrupted again.
Caius beamed with pride. "After you and Isabella wed, you'll be the top dog, as you should. We'll control the west coast, and we'll restore the Volturi name."
"If we're trying to be discrete, then should we still host the party?" Dora asked.
"Of course, it's just our closest allies. And Marcus." Caius said. "Marcus won't say anything to Carlisle. You know how scared he is to cross me. Speaking of the party, Isabella needs a dress. And she needs to… be fixed. Take care of that Dora. Find something that makes her look more feminine."
Felix chortled. "Yes please. I don't get with little boys."
"Excuse me." I said as I quickly stood and ran out of the room.
I couldn't take anymore. Everything they had said became so overwhelming. I just needed to run away from them. Just from the few interactions we had shared thus far, I knew they were dangerous people with ill intentions for me.
Things will be confusing for a few chapters. I won't give a detailed explanation until chapter thirteen. Sorry! But I hope you'll enjoy anyways.
