A few days later …

"Kara?" Alura said opening her eyes.

"Hey." Kara smiled. "How are you feeling?"

"I believe humans call it hit by a something."

"Bus." Kara said.

"What are you doing here?"

"Where else would I be?" Kara smiled. "I was so worried about you."

"What happened?"

"Argo fever." Kara said. "It hit you badly, we thought you weren't going to make it."

"I'm okay." She said squeezing her hand.

"You still need lots of rest." Kara warned.

"You look like you need rest as well." Alura said.

"I'm okay." Kara smiled.

"Where's Alex?"

"Back on Earth. We don't know what Argo fever will do to her."

"You should not be here. You should be with Alex." Alura said fighting tiredness.

"Alex is okay." Kara said. "I'm not going anywhere. Get some rest."

Hearing the doorbell the teenage Alex put down her pen and walked to the door before opening it.

"Hi Lena." She greeted when she saw who was there.

"Firstly, you need to be more careful when opening the door. I could have been anyone. Secondly, why are you here?"

"I live here."

"Aren't you meant to be living with Alex and MJ?"

"I am. But everyone is out and I prefer it here."

"Where's Alex?" Lena asked.

"At work I guess."

"And MJ?"

"On a date."

"Then it looks like it is just us." Lena said. "You can tell me all about your lunar eclipse weekend."

"Have you heard anything from mom?"

"No, but the portal is at the DEO so messages would go to Alex."

"I know. But I hadn't heard anything and I was hoping Alex just forgot to pass a message on."

"I've not seen Alex." Lena said. "But I can check in with Ruby if you want?"

"Thanks."

"I'm sure your mom is okay." Lena replied.

"I miss her."

"I know. But she'll be back soon." Lena smiled. "And just because she isn't here doesn't mean we can't have fun. It will just be more healthy fun."

00

"Kara, please stop fussing." Alura asked.

"I'm not fussing, I'm just looking after you."

"You're fussing." Alura said. "And there is no need, I'm okay now."

"Why couldn't I help you?"

"What do you mean?"

"I wanted to take you to Earth or use a solar grenade to help you, but I was told I couldn't."

"Things are difficult at the moment."

"Difficult how?"

"Shortly after you disappeared some of the population wanted to stop living in the shadows, others wanted to remain hidden from the others in the Galaxy. As time went on the population became more and more divided. Until eventually, after a few years some left Argo to forge new lives. Some of those who were left behind felt bitterness and resentment and the movement to stay hidden drew stronger. The Portal to Earth is only permitted because you are more daughter and Earth already knows of our existence, not to mention Lena helped save us.

"How come I didn't see this last time I was here?" Kara asked.

"Because you are still one of us."

"I sense a but."

"But your return made some feel uneasy. They felt the ties to Earth would grow stronger and they don't want any links. The movement is strong but not strong enough to remove the portal. However, due to them several new laws have been introduced. Laws that prevent us seeking aid."

"I'm sorry."

"It's not your fault." Alura said. "In time I have no doubt things will return to how they were. For now we just need to buy time. Show those who fear, that there is nothing to be afraid of. But none of that is your problem. You have a life on Earth and you need to return. Kara I love you and I love having you here, but go back to Alex."

"How's your mother?" Vasquez asked as Kara stepped through the portal.

"She's okay."

"You weren't tempted to bring her back here to allow the sun to help?"

"The council don't want to become dependent on Earth." Supergirl shrugged. "So she had to get over it by herself. Where's Alex?"

"In her office."

"I'll just say hello before I go."

"I'm sure she'll be glad to see you. It has been crazy round here."

"How crazy?" Kara asked frowning.

"Scale of one to ten, a twelve."

"That bad?"

"Yeah, Alex has been working really hard so see if you can get her to have some time off."

"I'll see what I can do." Kara smiled before entering her sister's office.

"Hey."

"Hi." Alex said looking up from a report. "How's your mother?"

"Much better." Kara said. "How's Alex?"

"Alex?" Her sister asked confused.

"Yeah, the teenager left in your care."

"She's fine. Why wouldn't she be?"

"Well you seemed to have forgotten she existed."

"Sorry, just tired. Way too much paperwork."

"Want some help?"

"No, I'm fine."

"You okay?" Kara asked.

"Yes why?"

"You just seem a little off."

"I'm fine. Just tired. Go home."

As Kara flew into the apartment the teenage Alex looked up from her homework, wondering what the breeze had been. Seeing her mother she jumped up and hurried over to her mother before wrapping her arms round her.

"You're back." She said happily.

"Hi." Kara said hugging her back surprised with how tightly her daughter was holding her. "You okay?"

"I missed you so much." The teen said before asking. "How's Alura?"

"She'll be fine." Kara assured her.

"So you're back properly?" Her daughter asked.

"I am." Kara smiled before releasing her. "What are you doing here? I thought you were staying with Alex and MJ."

"It's easier to concentrate here." Alex shrugged.

"And Alex was okay with that?"

"Sure. She's been kind of relaxed."

"What do you mean?"

"Letting MJ go out every night. Happy with me being here."

"Anything else strange?" Kara asked.

"Not really. I mean I haven't really seen much of her. She has been working really late every night."

"But you're okay?"

"Yes. But I'm glad you're back. I missed you."

"Me too." Kara said hugging her again.

When the hug finally ended Alex looked at her mother and saw the dark circles under her eyes and asked.

"Are you okay?"

"I'm fine." Kara smiled.

"You look tired." The teenager pressed.

"I haven't got much sleep. But I'm okay." She smiled as the doorbell went.

"That'll be Lena." The teenage Alex said opening the door.

"Hi Alex." Lena smiled before seeing Kara. "Kara! You're back. How's your mother?"

"She's fine now." Kara said.

"Well it looks like you have a better offer." Lena said to the teenager. "I'm sure you two have lots to catch up on."

"But we still need to eat." Alex said, deciding her mother needed a friend to talk to. "Want to join us?"

"I don't want to intrude." Lena said.

"You won't be." The teenager said. "Plus I need help to get healthy food."

"That's true." Lena said.

"Healthy food?" Kara asked looking appalled. "I have been on Argo for over a week. I need pizza and potstickers and ice cream."

"Your tastes are the most alien thing about you." Lena commented.

00

"Is she asleep?" Lena asked quietly, noticing the teen seemed to be out for the count on the couch later that evening.

"Looks that way." Kara said before looking over at Lena and asking. "Has Alex been okay? I mean the older one."

"I've not seen her. Why?"

"I don't know she seemed a little odd earlier. And Alex, the younger one, said she had been working all the time and letting MJ go out every evening."

"While that does sound odd, like I said I haven't seen her for a while. That said she did come to see me just after you had left and asked me to keep an eye on your Alex."

"Thank you for doing that."

"Of course. But I wasn't the only one. When Steve found out it sounds like he took her out for meals most nights and he took her and Martin to the Lunar Eclipse event."

"Shoot, I forgot all about that." Kara said feeling guilty.

"Well you did have more pressing things on your mind." Lena reminded her. "How are you doing?"

"I'm fine. Mom is better."

"Yet you look tired."

"It was a long few days." Kara said. "But I'm okay."

"You sure?" Lena pressed.

"I am now I'm home." Kara said glancing down at her sleeping daughter.

"Well, I'd better go." Lena said. "But if you want to talk. Call."

00

"What's going on?" Kara asked her sister the next morning.

"What do you mean?" Alex asked putting down her coffee and looking at her sister.

"You are letting MJ go out partying and Alex has practically been living by herself."

"MJ needs to spend time with his friends." Alex said standing. "And as for Alex, she said she wanted the quiet. She also spent a lot of time with Lena."

"You sure you are okay?" Kara asked.

"I'm fine." Alex said. "The last few days have been manic and I have tried to handle things the best I could, by myself."

"I know. I'm not accusing you of not. I'm just worried you aren't acting like you." Kara said MJ entered the kitchen.

"Hi MJ." Kara greeted.

"You're back?" He asked confused.

"Yes." Kara confirmed.

"Okay." He shrugged leaving the kitchen again.

"Well MJ is being his normal self." Kara said.

"Yeah." Alex sighed. "Anyway I have to get to work. I'll see you later."

"Sure." Kara said watching her sister leave.
