Chapter 5 It's Rowlet! Catching Pokémon in Alola!
Ash, Golly, Lillie, and their classmates are still in the forest, they manage to find a Grubbin on the ground and Ash is using Pikachu to battle it.
"Grubbin, the Larva Pokémon. A Bug type. Grubbin scrapes trees with its large jaws and drinks their sap. It makes its home underground." Rotom says. "Ash, do you hear that?"
"Of course, thanks, Rotom." Ash says.
Grubbin goes for String Shot, and Ash has Pikachu dodging the attack and goes for Thunderbolt, hitting the bug Pokemon.
"When capturing wild Pokemon, throw a Poke Ball after exhausting its physical strength in battle." Rotom adds. "This is the basic rule of a Pokemon Battle!"
"Yeah..." Ash rolls his eyes as he throws a Poke Ball, as the ball continues to shake.
"Will it be able to capture?" Kiawe asks.
"It has to be, right?" Lillie adds.
And much to their relief, Grubbin is captured, and Ash has another teammate. But Pikachu falls down and they are concerned.
"Pikachu, are you okay?" Ash asks.
"Pikachu! Damage sustained! Damage sustained!" Rotom says.
"If that's the case, I'll show you the way to the Pokemon Center." Mallow says.
"I'll go as well." Lillie adds.
"That'd be great! Thanks for your help, Mallow, Lillie!" Ash says.
"I'll come as well." Golly says.
"Then we'll go back to the Pokemon School and tell Professor Kukui what's happened." Kiawe says.
After getting to the Pokemon Center, Nurse Joy says, "Welcome to Melemele Island's Pokemon Center."
"Thanks, Nurse Joy." Ash says as he brings Pikachu, Mimikyu, Bewear, and Grubbin to Nurse Joy, with the latter 3 in the Poke Balls.
Ash also notices that Nurse Joy here uses Blissey and a Comfey. Rotom says, "A Pokemon Center will recover a Pokemon's physical strength or heal an abnormal status."
Golly says, "That is a Comfey, right? It is the first time I'm seeing it in person."
"Comfey, the Posy Picker Pokémon. A Fairy type. It releases a relaxing scent from the flowers it picks. The scent has a healing effect and can cure status conditions." Rotom says as Comfey puts the flower ring onto Ash.
"It sure is a perfect Pokemon to be Nurse Joy's assistant." Ash says.
"Blissey is also perfect as well." Lillie says.
"That's true. Blissey, the Happiness Pokémon. A Normal-type. When it senses someone sad with its fur, it will rush over, no matter how far, and share its Lucky Egg that brings a smile to everyone."
While they are waiting for Pikachu and the other Pokemon, Ash turns to Lillie and asks, "So Lillie, do you remember anything as Serena?"
"Well...I..." Lillie mutters.
"Serena?" Mallow asks, "What do you mean?"
"Oh, the truth is, last year, I have been traveling with Lillie in Kalos, although her name was not Lillie but Serena." Ash frowns. "A few days ago, the place she rode exploded in the air, and that's why she has become another person to me..."
"I'm sorry to hear that..." Mallow says with a frown.
"All I can remember is how I picked Fennekin and how you tried to jump off the Lumiose Tower, other than that, nothing comes to my mind..." Lillie says.
"What do you mean jump off the Lumiose Tower?" Golly stares at Ash, who sighs and says, "What am I supposed to do when Pikachu is falling from that above? It is a good thing that Clemont's father saved me at that time."
"Oh yeah, Clemont and Bonnie." Lillie says. "I think I remember both of them, but just pieces..."
Ash says, "Don't worry, you'll remember everything, and you'll also be able to touch your Pokemon again."
Lillie smiles as she nods.
The next day, Ash, Golly, Lillie, and Mallow are at Mallow's house as they are having fruits for snacks. Ash says, "They are really delicious."
"Of course, they are picked from fresh." Golly says.
"Though I wonder if I can capture another new Pokemon today..." Ash sighs.
"The forest behind Pokemon Trainer's School, currently, has an 89% Pokemon encounter rate." Rotom says.
"That sounds great, it is also where I found Bounsweet." Mallow says.
"Bounsweet lets out a sweet scent, and Lillie says, "Wow...the scent is relaxing..."
"I know..." Golly says.
Mallow just stares at them with surprise, "I know Ash and Golly are Pokemon, but Lillie? Why are you also affected as well?"
Lillie realizes it and she blushes, "Well...I...it's not only Ash and Golly...I..."
Ash sighs, "Lillie, I don't think we can hide this anymore. Not only our family, but Lillie's family are also Pokemon, they are Giratina."
Rotom widens his eyes and says, "Giratina, the Renegade Pokémon. A Ghost and Dragon-Type. This Pokémon is said to live in a world on the reverse side of ours, where common knowledge is distorted and strange."
"Wait, seriously?" Mallow asks.
"Please, Mallow. I don't want you to also tell others about it..." Lillie begs. "I know I am a Pokemon...but..."
"Don't worry. We will keep it a secret as well." Mallow says.
Just then, a green owl Pokemon rushes towards Bounsweet, who uses Rapid Spin to knock it back. "Is that a Rowlet?" Golly gasps.
"Leave it to me. Rowlet, the Grass Quill Pokémon. A Grass and Flying type. It stores energy during the day from photosynthesis. It swoops down without making a sound and unleashes a powerful kick without being noticed."
"Speaking of a Ghost Type..." Golly adds, but then they see Rowlet being hit back by Rapid Spin again.
"When the enemy notices it above, those powerful kicks do nothing..." Rotom says. "And instead, it suffers from the vicious attack..."
"Bounsweet is used to it." Mallow says.
"What do you mean?" Lillie asks.
"Bounsweet, the Fruit Pokémon. A Grass type. It's always emitting a delicious scent from its body. Lured by its scent, many flying Pokémon mistake it for a berry." Rotom explains. "Here it is again!"
Rowlet goes for the third attack but is being hit back for the third time. Ash asks, "Maybe he's really hungry?"
Just then, Rowlet is fainted after the third attack and is about to fall to the ground, Ash quickly rushes to it with Extreme Speed and catches it. Once Rowlet is awake, he finds himself sleeping in Ash's bag, and he also notices the melon prepared for him and gobbles on it.
"It's eating so much so fast..." Rotom comments.
"Do you want to eat it as well?" Golly says while giving it a banana, and Rowlet manages to perch on Golly's arm and eats it. Golly winces a little and says, "It sure has strong legs..."
After Rowlet is full, Ash decides to pet Rowlet and he says, "Wow, Rowlet is so soft..."
Rowlet coos for a second, but then he realizes what he's here for, and he quickly picks a watermelon and leaves. Lillie asks, "Where is he going?"
"Let's go after it." Ash says as they chase after it. Golly says, "We're going to capture that, Brother."
"Of course, we will." Ash says.
After chasing after the Rowlet, they find a nest with a lot of Pikipek with a Trumbeak and a Toucannon. Ash says, "There it is..."
The Bird Pokemon are looking at Ash and the others, and Rotom says, "Pikipek, the Woodpecker Pokémon. A Normal and Flying type. It can unleash sixteen pecks per second to drill a hole into a tree where it stores food. Trumbeak, the Bugle Beak Pokémon, and the evolved form of Pikipek. It attacks its opponents by firing seeds stored in its beak. Toucannon, the Cannon Pokémon, and the evolved form of Trumbeak. Its beak heats up to over two hundred degrees, and its peck can inflict a serious burn."
Rotom floats towards the Toucannon and touches the beak, he says, "Strange, it's not hot at all, that's strange...was my explanation wrong?"
Toucannon is annoyed at what Rotom is doing as the beak is starting to heat up, causing Rotom to take the burn. Rowlet flies towards Ash and Ash says, "I didn't know you have so many friends!"
Rowlet floats into Ash's backpack and Toucannon stares at Ash, "Looks like the little one likes you..."
"Little one? You mean Rowlet?" Golly asks.
Then a Pikipek appears in front of them as it wants to battle Ash, Ash says, "You want me to battle you? That's fine for me."
Both Trumbeak and Toucannon are surprised to see the Pikipek wanting to battle, so they decide to watch while Pikipek goes for Peck. Ash says, "Electro Ball!"
Pikachu's attack is dodged, so Ash decides to have Pikachu go for Iron Tail instead, and both attacks clash with each other.
"So strong..." Ash says.
Pikipek goes for Echoed Voice, and it causes Pikachu to cover its ears, but the sound also attracts some Spearow, causing them to fly towards them with rage.
"Oh no... Spearows..." Ash says as he starts to remember his first day of the journey.
As the Spearow gets close, Lillie quickly hide behind Ash as her phobia is still there.
The Spearow are charging with Wing attack at the flock, Toucannon and Trumbeak are using Bullet Seed to knock some back, but as others are approaching, Rowlet flies out of the backpack and goes for Leafage.
"That move is Leafage!" Mallow says.
Ash says, "Pikachu! Use Thunderbolt on those Spearow!"
Pikachu nods as it fires the attack, causing the Spearow to flee the area, much to their relief.
Pikipek flies towards his own flock as he lowers his head since it is his fault that the Spearow are trying to attack them, but the flock forgives him and they are also impressed by Ash's Pikachu. Not only Pikachu but Rowlet as well when it uses the Leafage to save them from being hit by the Wing Attack.
Golly says, "Rowlet looks happy..."
"Yeah." Ash says. "Rowlet."
Rowlet flies on Ash's shoulder, and much to their surprise, the Pikipek is doing the same. Ash says, "Thank you, Rowlet. Because of you, everyone was saved." He turns to Pikipek and says, "And your Echoed Voice is powerful, Pikipek. To be able to bring a bunch of Spearow..."
The Toucannon notices the two Pokemon with Ash, and he seems to make a decision. Ash puts both Pikipek and Rowlet on the ground and he says, "I guess it is time for us to go."
Lillie asks, "You're not going to capture the Rowlet and the Pikipek?"
"It's fine." Ash says. "It's because they have all the friends here. They are a family and it is not right to separate a family..."
Rowlet and Pikipek are sad as Ash and the others are leaving, but Toucannon nudges both of them, agreeing to let them go with Ash. Then the two of them quickly fly towards Ash and the others.
Ash gasps, "Rowlet? Pikipek? Why?"
Then they also notice how the flock is waving goodbye to the two of them. Golly asks, "Does that mean you want to come with us?"
Then Rowlet and Pikipek nuzzle Ash and Golly respectively, much to their happiness.
"All right! We will like to have you come along with us!" Ash says.
Then the two of them fly into the air as they are ready, Rotom is confused and he asks, "What are they doing?"
"Do you seriously need to ask?" Ash says as both he and Golly prepare the Poke Ball and capture both Pokemon.
"You can capture them like that?" Rotom yells in shock.
"Come on, do you think I am capable of defeating all those Pokemon in my yard to capture them?" Ash rolls his eyes.
"I guess you can call that the Ketchum's own way." Lillie chuckles.
Then Golly has Rowlet out, and it goes into Ash's backpack. "You really like my backpack, don't you?" Ash says.
"Updating my information that there are Rowlets who like backpacks." Rotom says as they all chuckle.
And here is a new chapter, there is one thing I forgot to mention, Ash and Golly are sharing Pokemon with each other, only that Golly uses mostly Ghost Types. And Team Rocket isn't in my story yet, so I have to find a way to change the story to make it unique. I hope you like this chapter.
