After the defeat of Aporia in the final round of the WRGP, New Domino City has known peace. But now, a new threat has arrived. Something out of this world. In order to defeat it, the Crimson Dragon's power alone won't be enough. Thankfully, there are four more dragons ready to help, each with their own Signers. Can they save the world together?

36. Magenta Madness

"I'm getting bored. When do we get to duel, Isabella?"

"If you're that impatient, you can be the first one to duel when we find someone under the Great Evil's control."

"If she's that impatient, then she should be the last one to duel. Patience is a virtue, after all."

"Aw, you're mean, Olivia!"

"Not at all. I am simply trying to teach you life lessons."

"Stop fighting, you two. We're a team, remember?"

"Incorrect. No such conclusion was ever reached. I must deduce that you are attempting to play a trick on us."

"I am not! We had a vote that one night, and it was unanimous."

"Tell me, were we all sleeping?"

"Well…"

"I see. So in other words-"

"Um!"

"What is it, Clarissa? And you two, stop arguing."

"I see... a light... up ahead. It's r-really bright."

"Huh? Oh, you're right, Clarissa! Good eye! Now let's go!"

"Wait a second. Don't just run ahead- she is gone already, isn't she?"

"I believe so, Olivia. Come on, let's make sure she doesn't get herself into trouble again."

"Aaaaaaaaah, my eyes! That really is bright!" Rin exclaimed as she ran into a large room lit by chandeliers. It was very much the same as the rooms that all the other Signers had been dueling in.

"The amount of light has gone up exponentially." Olivia agreed as she covered her eyes.

"Ladies and- oh. Well then, welcome, ladies!" A voice rang through the room.

"Who-who's there?" Clarissa questioned.

"Prepare for the show of a lifetime. The three musketeers, reborn... as duelists!" The center of the room was suddenly covered in explosions of colorful smoke, and when the smoke cleared, there were three boys the same age as the girls standing in the center of the room.

"The lovely, the beautiful, the talented... your host- Larry!" One boy spoke. He had red curly hair, with freckles, blue eyes, and an eager expression on his face. His outfit consisted of a black vest over a blue long sleeved shirt, a pair of blue jeans, and a pair of clown shoes. He also wore a red duel disk on his left arm.

"The incomparable, the unmatchable, the brilliant... your leader to a better future- Terry!" Another boy introduced himself. He had long, navy blue hair that went down to his waist. He had freckles to match his companion. His expression didn't give anything away, but there was a gleam hidden behind his purple eyes. He wore a purple suit and slacks, with a black pair of dress shoes. He also wore a blue duel disk on his left arm.

"I'm not sure if I can build myself up like my friends did, but I'll sure try. Everyone, please give a big round of applause for the ringleader, and your hero! Barry!" The boy standing in the center of the three introduced himself. He had a short mess of dark green hair, with one tuft sticking straight up. He had amber eyes, the same shade as Leo and Luna's, and the expression on his face looked sheepish. He wore a white T-shirt with the image of a Blue-Eyes White Dragon on it, along with light blue sweatpants. He also had a pair of green sneakers, along with a yellow duel disk on his left arm.

*Clap* *Clap* *Clap*

"Huh?" Why am I the only one clapping?" Rin questioned as she looked around at her team.

"Yes, Rin. Why are you the only one clapping for who is clearly our opponent?"

"Please, Rin. Take this a little more seriously."

"Yes, ma'am!" Rin replied with a salute, causing Isabella to sigh.

"Thank you, thank you!" Larry began again. "Now then, we will give our audience the show of their lives! With a three on three team duel!"

"A team duel?" Clarissa questioned.

"That's right. A team duel! And I think that the audience wants exactly that, don't they?" As Larry finished, the sound of cheering and applause filled the room.

"How's he doing that? There's no one here." Rin observed.

"Focus. We will accept your challenge. It will be Rin, Clarissa, and myself vs you three. I trust that is okay?" Olivia proposed.

"Olivia!" Isabella objected.

"Go, Isabella. These three will be child's play. You need to go ahead and take care of any of the Great Evil's servants who might be waiting for us up ahead. We don't have time to waste."

"Yeah, we got this!" Rin declared, flexing her right arm.

"We're counting on you, Isabella." Clarissa told her. "So leave this to us."

"You guys... thanks a lot! I believe in you! Show them the power of our team!" With that, Isabella took off for the exit on the other side of the room.

"Now that's decided, let's start the duel!" Larry exclaimed.

"Now hold on, Larry. We have to make sure that our audience and our opponents understand the rules." Barry reminded the other boy.

"I trust you know the rules of a team duel?" Terry questioned Olivia.

"Indeed. Each team will share four thousand life points, and they will also have a shared field of five monster zones and five spell and trap zones, along with a shared graveyard."

"Correct. And the last player to make their move will receive the claim to the first attack." Terry finished Olivia's explanation.

"So let's get started!" Larry spoke impatiently as he activated his duel disk.

"Yeah, let's do this!" Rin echoed, activating her duel disk as well. Everyone else followed suit, activating their duel disks and drawing their hands.

"Let's duel!"

"It sure is lonely here without any amigos to speak with. Oh, a light up there. Perhaps I'll find one of the people under the Great Evil's control there." Duane ran ahead to the entrance where the light was coming from, and covered his eyes while they adjusted to the light in the room.

"Mis ojos!" After a few seconds, Duane was able to open his eyes. "Huh? Who's that?" In the center of the room stood a figure taller than Jack. They wore a red-caped black suit and red pants with brown shoes. Their face was covered with a silver tragedy mask- a mask with the face of a crying man engraved into it.

"Hola! Buenas tardes! Me llamo Duane! Cómo te llamas?" The masked figure did not respond, neither with words nor action. "No hablas español?"

"Duane." The masked figure spoke in a quiet, yet booming voice that reverberated throughout the room. "It is time to duel."

"You don't waste any time, do you?" Duane shook his head. "What a shame. I was hoping we could get to know each other a bit, you know, before we-"

"Duel!"

"Right, right, I get it!" Duane activated his duel disk. "Let's duel!"

"No way, Olivia! I'm fired up two hundred percent. I can't stop now."

"We're not asking you to s-stop, Rin. I think Olivia just wants you to control yourself a-and not stop."

"It's my turn, I draw!" Barry interrupted the conversation between the girls.

"Huh? What do you mean? You're at the famous Duel Musketeers show! Naturally there's a huge audience of adoring fans. Didn't you expect that?"

"That's not very humble, Larry." Barry chastised. "Still, you girls must be very focused on the duel to not even notice the audience."

"Huh? No, I still don't see an audience." Rin spoke with a tone of confusion as she peered around.

"Don't be ridiculous, Rin. It is quite obvious that they're playing mind games with you. Well, it won't work on me."

"Mind games? Dearest Olivia, I'm quite flattered that you have such a high impression of us, but trust me when I say that we have no such intentions. We merely want to win while putting on a good show for our audience."

"You know, Terry, you don't really sound all that trustworthy when you speak like that." Larry remarked.

"Shut it!"

"You're right, that's enough talk. It's my move, I draw!"

"Where are those voices coming from?! It's driving me crazy!" Rin exclaimed, ruffling her hair.

"Wait. Take a close look at our opponents."

"Huh? What about them, Olivia?" Rin questioned.

"Wait a second. Weren't we told that... the people controlled by the Great Evil would have a white 'X' mark on their forehead?" Clarissa asked.

"Affirmative. And yet these three don't. Now I'm curious. You there, you're the leader of this group, correct?" Olivia questioned.

"Huh? Y-yeah, I guess I'm the leader." Barry affirmed. Though, I'm not really sure if I'm cut out to be-"

"Where are we?"

"Huh?"

"You heard me. I want to hear it from you. Where do you think we are?" Olivia repeated.

"Where are we? That's a strange question. I think we said this before, but we're at a Duel Musketeers show. We're the Duel Musketeers, and you're our opponents. We're dueling to put on a show for the fans." Barry explained.

"I think I understand now."

"Wait. So these three are performers, and they think they're at a performance right now?" Rin asked.

"Not quite. You may not know this, but the Duel Musketeers are a famous duel troupe in the United States. I figured these three might just be fans using their name, since they're so popular, but I see now that that's not the case."

"Oh yeah, that's right, Olivia! You're from America, aren't you? So wait, if they're not just using the name of the Duel Musketeers, then are they-"

"No, Rin. They're not. But it appears that they think they are. Something must be clouding their minds. Perhaps the Great Evil is influencing them without controlling them directly."

"But then, what do we do?" Clarissa questioned.

"We'll have to-"

Go, Plasma Punisher!" Two orbs of blue lightning broke off from Lightning Fairy's cage, shocking and destroying Warrior Fairy and Shutendoji.

"And now my Traitorous Fairy activates its special ability. I discard a card from my hand, but then I can draw another card. Next I use Traitorous Fairy's other special ability! By discarding the last card in my hand, I can banish your Gem-Knight Tourmaline until the end phase. Now I use Traitorous Fairy's other special ability!"

"Another one?!" Rin complained.

"That's right. Another one. Now you take damage equal to the amount of light monsters in my graveyard times one hundred. Since we have seventeen light monsters in our graveyard, you take seventeen hundred points of damage. Nether Revenge Shot!" Traitorous Fairy wiggled its fingers, shooting a wave of purple flames at Olivia.

"Urgh. So this is the power of a shadow duel. I've never felt anything like this, it's like my arm's really being burned." Team ORC Lp(2300-600)

"Now Traitorous Fairy of the Renowned Front attacks you directly!"

"Olivia!"

"Please!"

"I activate the trap- Draining Shield! Now, not only is your attack negated, but we gain life points equal to your monster's attack points." Team ORC Lp(600-3200)

"Tsk. A very clever move. But you're only buying yourself time. That's fine, the crowd loves getting their money's worth. I end my turn." Terry declared as Tourmaline returned to the field.

"Sorry, but that won't be happening. You see, my Fairy can't be targeted by your card effects."

"Ah! I-in that case, I activate the Pot of Greed spell card, which lets me... draw two cards. I activate the Back-Up Rider spell. This card gives my Fairy another fifteen hundred attack points until the end of the turn." Ice Fairy of the Nordic Front atk(2000-3500)

"Well. That's certainly not good for me."

And due Draconic Fairy's other special ability, once per turn, I can equip it with a dragon in my graveyard, like, say, my Dragunity Aklys! "That's a lot of attack points!" Rin fretted.

"My Fairy!" Clarissa called out in concern.

"And since I sent Aklys to the graveyard, I can also destroy your facedown card. Lastly, Draconic Fairy will finish you off with a direct attack! Go Noble Impact!" Draconic Fairy flew high up into the air on its dragon before coming spiraling down at Mach speeds, its javelin ready to pierce.

"Not so fast!" Rin interjected. "I activate the trap- Damage Diet! Now we only take half the damage from your attack! Aaaaaaaaah!" Rin hollered in pain as she was sent flying into the wall of the room. Team ORC Lp(3200-1550)

"Rin!" Clarissa exclaimed, running towards her comrade.

"Is she okay?" Barry questioned, running over to the girls.

"Ugh. I'm fine." Rin groaned as she tried to stand up, but couldn't.

"This isn't right. Something must be wrong with the duel disk hologram projectors if the monsters are causing damage like this. We should stop the duel now."

Absolutely not! Stopping the duel midway is unforgivable! You do want to entertain the fans, don't you?

"I do! But not at the cost of someone's safety. Terry, Larry, we're forfeiting this duel."

Very well. It didn't have to come to this, but you insisted! Now sit back and wait for your inevitable destruction!

"Aaaah!"

"Waaaaah!"

Larry, Terry, and Barry cried out respectively as their bodies were surrounded by purple mist. When the mist dissipated, there were glowing white 'X' marks on each of the boys' foreheads.

"I end my turn." Evil spoke through Barry's body. "Now make your last pathetic move, Signers."

"So this is the Great Evil we are supposed to defeat. Truly terrible. Usurping someone of their free will, bending them to your will. Yes, I must defeat you! I draw!" Olivia drew her card with a dramatic white sheen, her arm now glowing due to the pink mark of a pair of connected wings on her arm. The wings looked like a spread peacock's tail.

"Now I activate Gem Fairy of the Brilliant Front's special ability! When she's successfully synchro summoned, she destroys all equip spells currently on the field. Go, Purifying Diamond Storm!" A tornado composed of diamonds blew through the stage, destroying the last of the equip cards on the field. Draconic Fairy atk(3300-2700)

"Yeah! Way to go- ow!"

"Calm down, Rin. Take it easy, you're hurt." Clarissa warned.

"You're right, sorry. You can do this, Olivia! Finish the bad guy off and save the good guys!"

"What are you, eight? You're oversimplifying things again. But still, you're right. I will do exactly that."

"Your monster still can't beat mine!"

"I don't require it to. You see, by releasing my Gem Fairy, I can summon Gem-Knight Lady Brilliant Diamond from my graveyard, its thirty-four hundred attack points and all!"

"Wait! But that means-

"That's right! It means that this duel is over, and that I'm the winner!" Olivia declared as Gem Fairy disappeared in the diamond storm, and Lady Brilliant Diamond reappeared.

"Go, Lady Brilliant Diamond. Attack!"

"Not again! You miserable Signers are such a thorn in my- aaaaah!" Team BLT Lp(400-0)

"It's over. Hopefully those boys are unharmed."

"Uggh, where are we?" Larry questioned, holding his head.

"I don't know. The last thing I recall is having a... dream that we were the Duel Musketeers." Terry stated.

"Us? The Duel Musketeers? Perhaps you guys, but not me, no way." Barry denied.

"Are you okay?" Olivia questioned the three boys.

"Yes, besides not knowing where we are or how we got here, we're fin- what in the name of Ra is that?!" Larry exclaimed out of nowhere.

"What?"

"Behind you!"

Olivia turned and was shocked by the sight she saw. In the air above them was a giant pink dragon, its long and beautiful body dignifiedly hovering above them. It had a long thin tail, covered in swirl patterns and ending in a furry tip. Its beautiful wings were spread wide, making a large arc, and it had two long and well groomed back claws, and two shorter and well groomed front claws. Its head was long and slender, and it had two curved fangs visible outside its mouth.

Roooooooooooooooar! The Magenta Dragon gave a fierce roar as it dive bombed for the three boys. Before anyone knew what happened, Larry, Barry, and Terry were no longer anywhere to be seen.

"What just... happened?" Rin questioned.

"I..."

"Clarissa? Clarissa?! Olivia, I think she passed out from the shock- Olivia?"

"It was not supposed to be like this. Our information told us that the dragons were the benefactors of the world, acting in its best interest. So why?"

"Why? I don't-"

"Tell me why! Why must all our efforts amount to nothing?! What's the point of us trying to save them if the dragons that are helping us are just going to take them anyways?"

"Olivia... this isn't like you. But I understand. I think we all need a moment-"

*Sob* *Sob* "Doesn't this- *Sob* -make us the bad guys, Rin?" *Sob*
