Chapter 9 Lillie's Egg-xhilarating Challenge!
In the Pokemon School, Ash and the others are watching how the other Pokemon are playing, Togedemaru has been so excited for no reason, and it has been causing some trouble.
"Once she gets going like this, she can't stop." Sophocles sighs.
Just then, much to their horror, Togedemaru is rolling towards Lillie, Ash quickly pushes her out of the way. "Lillie!"
And thanks to Pikachu, Togedemaru finally stops rolling.
"Thank you, Ash." Lillie says with a small blush.
"No worries." Ash says. "Anything for you."
"Sorry, Lillie. I'll make sure to give Togedemaru a talk later." Sophocles says.
"Oh yeah...Lillie still..." Golly says.
"I can too! I theorize that it's only a matter of if I feel like touching them!" Lillie says.
"But besides your Sylveon and Delphox, you never touch any Pokemon when you come to school..." Lana says.
Lillie feels crushed as she mutters, "That's true..."
"Don't worry, Lillie. You'll be able to touch them someday." Ash says.
"I...I suppose so..." Lillie mutters.
"Are you guys here?" Kukui comes into the classroom as they notice him. "We're going to the principal's office. Next, we have a special lesson from Principal Oak."
"A special lesson?" Everyone is confused.
When they enter the room, they find that on the principal's office table, there are two eggs, one is red and the other one is white.
"There are two eggs..." Ash says.
"This is the one that Ash and Goly brought from Kanto. And the other one was found the other day on Mt. Lanakila." Samson Oak says.
"What kind of eggs are they? Have you analyzed them yet?" Sophocles asks.
"That's something you'll have to wait to find out." Samson says. "So what do you guys think of me raising one egg and you guys raising the other?"
"Us? Raising an egg?" Mallow asks.
"This is an important lesson. It's important that you learn how to raise a Pokemon starting from an egg." Kukui says.
"So everyone should take care of it?" Lillie asks.
"Of course." Kukui says. "You are to observe the state of the egg every day and record any changes. Sounds easy, right?"
"That's Wobbuffet-ly right! Don't forget to show it affection too!" Samson says. "First, please pick which egg you would like."
Ash turns to Lillie and asks, "What do you think, Lillie?"
"Well...personally, I would pick this one..." She points at the white egg. "This one has cute, flower-like patterns."
"Oh, it does! It's so cute!" Mallow says.
"That's the reason?" Sophocles asks with confusion.
"There's nothing wrong with that. If I were to choose, I would also pick the white one as well." Ash says.
"Does that mean you know what kind of Pokemon is inside the egg?" Sophocles asks.
"Of course, we know." Golly says. "But where is the fun if we spoil the beans? Once the egg hatches, everyone can play together."
"And with that, my special lesson is finished." Principal Oak says. "Good luck-Psyduck."
After going back to the classroom, they are gathered around the egg, and Ash touches the egg and says, "It's a little warm."
"It is! You can tell it's alive!" Mallow says.
After everyone touches the egg and feels it, Mallow asks if Lillie wants to try it out, but Lillie is a little afraid.
"Even though you can't touch other Pokemon, maybe you can touch an egg since it doesn't move." Golly says.
"That's true..." Lillie says as she tries to touch it, but the egg moves as she panics.
"It moved!" Ash says. "That means it's alive." Lana adds.
Mallow apologizes to Lillie for letting her touch the egg, and Sophocles wonders what's going on inside the egg.
"So what are we going to do about it at night?" Lana asks.
"We can't just leave it here in the classroom, right?" Sophocles adds.
"Someone's gonna have to take it home." Kiawe says.
"Lillie, do you want to do it?" Ash asks.
"Me?" Lillie asks with surprise.
"But Lillie can't..." Lana says, but is cut off by Mallow. "That's a great idea! By taking care of the egg, I think she would slowly get used to Pokemon! Do you want to give it a go?"
"Well...I..." Lillie is hesitating, but she hears Sylveon's voice and the ribbon wrapping around her. "Don't worry, you can do it."
"Sylveon..." Lillie sighs and says, "I will try! I'm a student of the Pokemon School! I can do this!"
"Yeah! You're Lillie! You can do it!" Ash says.
Everyone also agrees to let Lillie take care of the egg, but unknown to them, a Salandit is watching from afar.
After school, Ash and Golly decide to go to Lillie's house together, and they are going to make sure the egg is safe.
"So Lillie, where is your house?" Ash asks.
"It's a bit far, so someone is going to pick us up." Lillie replies.
Just then, the car arrives, and the driver comes out and bows at Lillie. "I'm here to pick you up, Miss Lillie."
Then Ash and Golly also get into the car with Lillie, Ash says, "So you have butlers and maids as well."
"Of course. I'm surprised that you didn't have them driving you from the school back home..." Lillie says.
"It was not that far, and we would like to walk back home." Ash says. "But they are very nice."
"So how far are we going to your mansion?" Golly asks.
"We're actually on our property." Lillie says.
"Geez...this is almost as big as our property as well..." Ash says.
After arriving at the mansion, the head butler from Lillie's side, Hobbes, opens the door and says, "Welcome home, Miss Lillie."
"Thank you, these are my classmates, Ash Ketchum and Golly Ketchum. And their partners Pikachu and Rotom Dex." Lillie says.
"Welcome, I'm Hobbes, and I am the butler of this residence." Hobbes says.
"Oh, so his role is just like Paris from our house." Golly says. "It is nice to meet you."
"Ah, so you know Paris." Hobbes says. "So you're from the other side of the island."
"Other side?" Ash asks.
Lillie says, "Never mind that. Our houses are actually on other sides."
"I'm sorry for having to ask this, but may your Pikachu please wait in the courtyard?" Hobbes asks.
"It's okay. Hobbes. They came here today to help me." Lillie says.
After getting to the house, Hobbes says, "I'm sorry about earlier. Pokemon usually are not allowed inside."
Lillie says, "Since they make me jump...So instead, I had a playground made for the Pokemon in the courtyard, so that I could observe them from a distance. And I believe that very soon, many wild Pokemon will be coming here to play."
As they walk past, they notice Delphox, Pangoro, and Sylveon, all of them are waving at Ash and Golly while playing with the other wild Pokemon in the area. Once they get to Lillie's room, they put the egg on the sofa with the cushions placed under the egg.
"How's that, does it feel nice?" Ash asks, and the egg bounces a little to show that it is content, much to their delight.
"I have more studying to do so that this little one can hatch healthily." Lillie says.
"You really like Pokemon, don't you, Lillie?" Golly asks.
Ash notices two pictures on the table, one of them is the family picture of the Aether Foundation, and the other one is Ash and Lillie when they are younger.
"Hey, this is..." Ash says. "You have kept the picture..."
Lillie blushes and says, "Oh yeah...this was our first meeting back in Professor Oak's summer camp, right? After remembering everything, I managed to place the photo here because it is very important to me."
Golly asks, "Can you tell me the whole story about how you met? I'm very curious."
Ash says, "Well..."
(Flashback)
"Where is everybody? Where do you all go?" A younger Lillie/Serena was looking around in the forest worriedly.
Suddenly, a Poliwag appears, which causes her to fall to the ground and hurt her knee. Then she starts to form tears.
"I knew I should have come to this Summer Camp..." Then she cries out for her mother sadly.
Just then, she hears someone says, "Poliwag, where are you?"
Then a younger boy emerges from the bushes and then notices her. Then he says, "Are you alright?"
As the boy stops in front of her, he says, "I am Ash. What's wrong?"
Lillie says, "I hurt my leg..."
Ash notices the blood coming from her knee, then he takes out a handkerchief and then ties it around her knee. "See, it is better, now watch this, Pain Pain go away!" He says as he waves his arms.
Lillie tries to move her leg, but she feels pain. "It still hurts..."
Ash takes out his hand and says, "Come on, don't give up until it is over." He pulls her up and holds her in his arms, causing her to blush.
"See, you did it." Ash says while grinning, "Let's get back to the camp."
Then the two walk together back to the camp, as Lillie forms a blush on her face.
(Flashback end)
"Wow...that's a great story." Golly says. "But why can't you touch Pokemon? I mean...when you traveled with Brother in Kalos, you can touch them, right?"
"Well...I don't know...maybe my split self can do that, but I don't..." Lillie frowns.
"At one time, Ms. Lillie moved to another mansion with ma'am, but since she returned from there, Ms. Lillie has been unable to touch Pokemon." Hobbes says.
"If I remember, you, Gladion, and Ms. Aether split into two right after the Summer Camp...so I guess it explains why Serena can touch Pokemon while you can't..." Golly says. "Speaking of it, where is Gladion actually?"
"He lives somewhere else." Lillie says.
Just then, the maid comes and brings the snacks for them to have, and they have been eating a lot of them. Hobbes comments, "It's amazing how much they can eat..."
"It sure is..." Lillie sweatdrops.
"By the way, Lillie. About the memory thing, have you remembered anything new?" Ash asks.
"Well...I think I remembered the Rhyhorn Race..." Lillie says. "I tried to teach you how to do it, right?"
"Yeah." Ash says. "And you also made some cookies in the end."
"I think I remembered that..." Lillie says. "But everything is coming to me very slowly...when am I going to remember everything?"
"That sure is a problem..." Ash sighs.
By changing the mood, Ash and Golly decide to let Lillie try touching other Pokemon, starting with Pikachu before trying with a sleeping Rowlet. Neither attempt succeeds, so they decide to try with Rotom, which doesn't work either. But when getting to Pangoro, it finally works a little, maybe because it is her Pokemon.
At that moment, a Butterfree flies past the balcony. Lillie says, "Sometimes wild Pokemon even come up to the balcony."
Then she gives the Pokemon some food to eat, Golly says, "Looks like the both of you are very similar. You always have different types of Pokemon Food in your drawers."
"Really?" Ash and Lillie ask while blushing at the same time. At the same time, some wild Pokemon come to play with Sylveon, Pangoro, and the others in the yard. Watching the Pokémon play, Ash notices a battlefield.
"We are currently tending to it so that you will be able to use it very soon." Hobbes says.
"I know you love battles, Ash. So go ahead, please use it if you like." Lillie says.
"But I don't have an opponent..." Ash turns to Golly, "Are you going to do it?"
"If you want to." Golly says.
Lillie asks, "How about having Hobbes as your opponent? He's one of the most skilled battlers among our staff."
"That sounds fine to me." Ash says. "Please battle me."
"Then I'll just watch with Lillie." Golly says.
Golly and Lillie watche from the balcony as Ash and Hobbes start their battle. Ash decides to battle with Rowlet as Hobbes sends out his Oricorio.
"Oricorio, Pom-Pom Style. The Dancing Pokémon. An Electric and Flying-type. It creates electricity by rubbing its pom-poms together. Then it dances as it approaches its opponent before attacking. When it drinks different special nectars found only in Alola, it can change its type." Rotom says.
"Since we're in Melemele Island, the yellow nectar makes it an Electric Type. Maybe I should find my own Oricorio..." Ash says.
The battle begins with Rowlet using Leafage, but is hit by Revelation Dance. Rowlet gets up and uses Tackle, but Oricorio uses Mirror Move, causing the attacks to collide. Another Tackle and Mirror Move collide as Ash has Rowlet send Oricorio with another Tackle. Rowlet tries to attack before Oricorio uses Revelation Dance, but Oricorio dodges and fires its attack, which Rowlet dodges. Lillie heads inside to check on the Egg. The battle continues with Oricorio confusing Ash, Pikachu, Rotom and Rowlet with Teeter Dance allowing Rowlet to be sent flying and lands on Mallow.
"Mallow? What are you doing here?" Ash asks with confusion.
"I was worried about Lillie, so I finished my work in the cafeteria as fast as I could and came over." Mallow says. "When I came here, I heard that you were battling."
Just then, they hear a scream, and they rush to see Golly having Talonflame while standing in front of a Salandit. Ash yells, "Golly! Lillie! Are you okay?"
"That Salandit is here for the egg!" Golly says.
Rotom says, "Salandit, the Toxic Lizard Pokémon. A Poison and Fire type. Salandit lives in volcanoes and dry rocky places. They're very dangerous Pokémon that attack after releasing a sweet-smelling poisonous gas!"
Golly says, "Talonflame! Use Acrobatics!"
Talonflame attacks Salandit, and it causes it to fall to the ground. Golly then throws the Poke Ball and captures the Pokemon.
"Are you okay, Lillie?" Ash asks.
"Thanks to Golly...Mallow? You're here?" Lillie notices her.
"I was worried, so I came here." Mallow says. "But Lillie, look!"
Ash, Golly, and Lillie then realize that Lillie is holding the egg, and Lillie hugs the egg and says, "It's so warm..."
"You've done it, Lillie." Ash says.
"Yeah, you can touch the egg now, that's a good start." Golly says.
"It is, I'm so happy about it!" Lillie says.
Mallow notices the picture on the table and she asks, "Is that you, Lillie? You were so cute in that pink dress and the straw hat."
"Really?" Lillie blushes, Mallow adds, "And this boy...is that Ash?"
"You can say so..." Ash sighs as it is going to be a long story.
And here is a new chapter, as you can see, Snowy's egg is in the story now. I hope you like it and we'll be going back into the game version in the next chapter, as the Melemele trials are going to begin.
