Astral Match

Today was the day I take on the Anistar City Gym. I would be the last of my friends to take it on this time; I needed a rest.

The Gym was only really a small room. I knew it was the Gym, as the Gym statues were there. Well,, and Louie.
"Bienvenue Calem! This is the Anistar Gym! Our Gym Leader, Olympia, she uses Psychic Types. Many years ago, this Type was deemed unstoppable. But when Dark Types were on the rise, it made them a bit easier to deal with. And yes, Dark Types are great against Psychic Types, as are Ghost and Bug Type. Poison and Fighting Types though? Maybe think twice about using them."
I went into the middle of the room when suddenly, the floor tiles floated away, and I found myself on a glowing platform in the middle of what seemed to be space. "WHAT'S GOING ON?!" I shouted.
"Please will you relax," rung a female voice in my head. "My name is Olympia. Make your way to me."
It must have been telepathy. Of course, a strong Psychic Type user could do that. I decided to follow her advice though and walk on the glowing-floating platforms.
I walked along and encountered a Psychic.
"I predict… a great threat is ahead."
Calem Vs. Psychic Paschal
"I choose Malamar!" I shouted.
"Go Exeggutor!" Paschal replied, sending out the three-headed fruit.
"Okay Malamar, Night Slash!" Malamar sliced at Exeggutor for massive damage.
"Energy Ball!" Exeggutor fired a green ball at Malamar. Malamar took it well enough.
"Use another Night Slash!" One more attack and Exeggutor was down.
"Wait, if you're that strong, why am I predicting a great threat?"
"You're… not talking about the Gym Leader?" I asked. I was starting to get concerned.
I walked along the platform and came across a warp panel. Thankfully there would be no guessing games like the last Gym, so I stepped on it.
I wound up on another platform. Above me I saw the constellation of a Staryu. This was certainly the most fascinating Gym yet.
The next Trainer soon found me.
"I predict… that someone you know is… I can't say it."

"Go Blastoise!" I shouted.
"You're up Medicham!" Harry sent out a pink Pokémon with trouser-like legs.

"Medicham, High Jump Kick!" Medicham jumped forward but missed. It kept going and crashed.
"Use your Surf Blastoise!" Blastoise made a giant wave that hit Medicham.
"Do it again!" Another High Jump Kick was used, and this one actually hit. Blastoise took a few steps backwards.
"One more Surf!" Blastoise made another wave that hit Medicham, knocking it out.
"I can't tell you who it is…"
"Why?" I asked. "No, I must continue. But what is going on?"
Since many of the Trainers here were still beginners with their prediction powers, it didn't really get to me. But with Team Flare on the brink, I was scared to think that they may be right. So, I decided to be a bit more vigilant with the Psychics.
I warped to another platform. I was doing very well. The Gym didn't get any less mysterious to, which was great.
Soon, I found the next Trainer.
"I predict…" I was all ears. "That you will have toast tonight." Well, that wasn't helpful.

"Sableye, go!" I shouted.
"Reuniclus, I choose you!" Out came a floating Pokémon covered in green liquid with two large arms.

When Reuniclus shake hands, a network forms between their brains, increasing their Psychic power.

"We have the advantage Sableye. Use Shadow Claw!" Sableye slashed at Reuniclus with its sharp nails. It didn't quite do half.
"Trick Room!" Reuniclus suddenly made all around us… very weird. Tierno had told me about Trick Room. It makes slower Pokémon such as Reuniclus go first. "Now Reuniclus, Flash Cannon!" Reuniclus fired a white beam at Sableye who fell back in response.
"Come back with Shadow Claw!" Sableye slashed at Reuniclus again. Things were going well; one more would do it.
"Another Flash Cannon!" Reuniclus used the Steel Type move again, but Sabeleye was fine.
"Now Sableye, Feint Attack!" Sableye came up from behind Reuniclus and punched it. Reuniclus was down.
"Why are you stressed? You won and you love toast."
Things were going great. I went to another warp panel and to another platform. The two Trainers on this one were both Hex Maniancs; not sure how helpful that would be to knowing what the Psychics were talking about. I want to know the future, not talk to the dead.
I walked up to one of the Hex Maniacs.
"I will take you down. Wait, that wasn't spooky."

"You're up Lucario!" I shouted.
"Go Jynx!" Arachna replied, sending out a Pokémon with a pink face, red dress and long-blonde hair.

"Lucario, Aura Sphere!" Lucario fired a blue ball at Jynx. It was a direct hit.
"Wake-Up Slap Jynx!" Jynx slapped Lucario in the face for Super Effective damage.
"Come back with Aura Sphere!" Lucario fired one more attack at Jynx, knocking it out.
"NOOOOO! I LOOOST! Was that scary?"
One more Hex Maniac to go, so I walked to her.
"I am the final obstacle between you and Olympia! You shall not pass!"

"I choose Sableye!" I shouted.
"Go Gallade!" Melanie replied, sending out a green and white Pokémon with a blade on each arm.

"Gallade, start with Swords Dance!" Gallade danced about, and its Attack rose.
"This could get dangerous Sableye. Shadow Claw!" Sableye swiped at Gallade, doing over half damage.
"Now Gallade, Leaf Blade!" Gallade's right arm blade went green, and it swiped at Sableye. It almost went down.
"One more Shadow Claw!" Sableye attacked again, finishing Gallade.
"Fight you fool!"
After that, I stepped on the final warp panel and reached Olympia. She was a black woman wearing a black dress with a cape. The cape had the purple essence of space seen around the Gym. She had purple hair with two star-shaped earrings.
"Calem, big welcome
To Anistar's Psychic Gym.
Show your worth, TO ME!"
Calem Vs. Gym Leader Olympia
"Sigilyph, go!" shouted Olympia, sending out her Flying Type.
"Tyrantrum, you're up!" I replied, sending out my gargantuan Fossil.
"Use Psychic!" Using Psychic power, Sigilyph lifted up Tyrantrum and threw it on the floor. Its Sp. Defense fell in the process.
"Use Crunch!" Tyrantrum chomped down on Sigilyph. It was a big hit but didn't quite knock it out.
"Now use Ice Beam!" Sigilyph fired a cold-white beam at Tyrantrum. It was a direct hit that finished it in one blow.
"No!" I yelled. "Don't worry, we still have this. Go Malamar," I shouted.
"Sigilyph, Ice Beam again!" Sigilyph fired another cold beam. Malamar took it.
"Now Night Slash!" Malamar slashed at Sigilyph, knocking it out.
"Well, I am impressed.
My speed was not enough so…
Come on out, Slowking!" Olympia sent out a pink Pokémon standing on two legs. It had a crown on its head that was grey with a red jewel.

"We can take it down. Night Slash!" Malamar slashed at Slowking. It almost finished it off.
"Use Waterfall!" Slowking created a waterfall in front of Malamar, then swum up it to punch it in the face.
"Use Night Slash a final time!" Malamar sliced at Slowking again, knocking it out.
"My, I'm almost beat.
But I have one more friend left.
And it's Meowstic!" A female Meowstic was sent out. "Signal Beam!" Meowsitc fired a green beam at Malamar. It was a very Super Effective hit that knocked it out.
"Well, I think it's time.
To show some Mega Power.
Sableye, you're up next! Wait, too many syllables." I sent out Sableye. "When our hearts become one. Beyond evolution, MEGA EVOLVE!" Mega Energy surrounded Sableye, and it became Mega Sableye!
"Meowstic, Shadow Ball!" Meowstic fired a black ball at Mega Sableye. It managed to really take it.
"Now use Shadow Claw!" Mega Sableye thrusted its hand into the ground and fired its claw towards Meowstic. It was a hit. Meowstic was almost finished.
"Meowstic, Shadow Ball again!" Meowstic fired the black ball at Sableye, but it was fine.
"Finish with Feint Attack!" Sableye ran to Meowstic and punched it. Meowstic was down.
"Well, I am impressed.
You beat my Psychic Type team.
You are very strong."
"With that I bestow,
The Psychic Badge onto you.
As victory proof." Olympia handed me a Badge that looked like a ball with smoke emanating from it.
I got… the Psychic Badge!
"Additionally,

It was getting better and better.
"Lastly this TM.

Olympia stopped. Her eyes started glowing blue.
"Olympia?" I asked. "What's wrong?"
"It's… happening," she said. "Something terrible… is happening! Soon! It will!"
"Calem!" Serena and Louis arrived.
"What's happening?" I asked.
"Olympia is having a vision," Louis said. "Of something, horrible. And I think I know what it is. Come on outside."
Location: Anistar City
Outside, everyone was looking at their Holo Caster in worry. There were murmurs among everyone.
"What's going on?"
"I thought he was a nice guy."
The atmosphere was tense. It seemed like I was the only person not in the know. I can't be blamed; Anistar Gym didn't really have a good connection. But being outside, I got the message. Lysandre appeared.
"Citizens of the Kalos region. I am Léon Lysandre, owner of Lysandre Labs, and I come to you with an important message. Team Flare has almost finished preparation on the Ultimate Weapon. When its power has been restored, it will have the power to wipe out anyone that is not part of Team Flare, and the land will be reverted to a beautiful, natural state."
That hit me like a Giga Impact. "I knew there was something about him, but being part of Team Flare?"
"I'm sorry, those of you who are not members of Team Flare, but this is adieu to you all." Those were the final words before the message ended.

"Big-C!"
"Calem!"
Shauna, Tierno, Trevor and Brendan arrived.
"What does he mean?" Shauna asked. "I'm scared."
"Well, whatever it is, we need to put a stop to it," Tierno said.
"Hold on." From out the doors of the Gym came Olympia. "I want to tell you about the vision. The Ultimate Weapon won't be ready for another two days. Plus, it's getting late. After a day of battles, I'm sure you are all exhausted. Think of a plan tonight and strike tomorrow."
"But the end of the world!" said Trevor. "We can't just stand around whilst Team Flare enact their evil schemes!"
"No, she has a point," said Brendan. "Take it from someone who has had to save the world. We're all tired. If we just go running it, we'll be asking for trouble."
Trevor sighed. "You're right. Let's break it down. We know the when of this scheme, what Team Flare's plan is and who is behind it. Not we need to think about how we stop them and where they are based."
"I can answer that," I said. "Lysandre has a café. That could provide some hints."
"Good idea," Brendan said. "Whilst Calem does that, go to different parts of Kalos and tell everyone to find shelter." Everyone nodded in response.
"I'll go to Vaniville Town," Serena said. "Don't worry Calem, Grace will be fine."
"Leave Cyllage City to me," Shauna said.
"I'll stay here in Anistar," said Trevor.
"And I'll go with Calem to Lumiose to warn everyone there," Tierno offered.
"And me?" Brendan said. "I will be warning everyone from the skies. My Latios can Mega Evolve and soar around everywhere. I can warn more people quicker. I know just where to get to safety," Brendan said, "Come on out Hoopa!" Brendan sent out a grey and pink Pokémon with gold rings on its ears.

I nodded. "Until them, we have a lot to do tomorrow. Let's have dinner. I'm in the mood for toast for some reason."
We all gave each other a group hug. I just hoped it wasn't the last one…
