Drabble – Amusing Amortentia

Harry Potter was rubbing his eyes open as he entered the Great Hall on an ordinary Saturday morning. Seated in the Great Hall were students dotted around, including his dormmates and friends Neville Longbottom and Ron Weasley. Both were in hushed whispers and upon spotting Harry greeted him.

"Morning, Harry," Neville greeted.

"Hey, Harry," Ron greeted, "You look like you need something to drink. Here." Ron passed a goblet of pumpkin juice to Harry. Harry greeted both boys and accepted the goblet quickly.

"Had a weird dream last night. Anywho, thanks, Ron," Harry said as he finished the goblet. He set it down and grabbed some food to eat.

"Y'know, Harry. Today is your last chance to ask Cho to Hogsmeade before the year is over. After that, she's gone," Neville stated. Harry struggled to hide the blush creeping onto his face.

"What about Ginny? You did promise her a day out after we won that Quidditch Match after Christmas," Ron continued. Harry covered his face with his hands and started sinking into the table.

"What about me? You both know this is the last Hogsmeade weekend of the year, right?" Hermione Granger stated. Harry's small "eep" went unnoticed as he now attempted to be devoured by the table in front of him.

"Oh, get up, Harry!" Hermione exclaimed, pulling back on his shoulders. "We can be logical about this. You go with Cho now to lunch, then with Ginny until around 4, and then with me and Ron until closing. That's fair, right?"

Harry nodded quickly before quickly running up to Cho. "Hey Cho, wanna go to Hogsmeade for a few hours?" Harry asked quickly. Cho smiled and nodded.

"Sure, Harry. Lead the way."

Harry grinned and took her hand, before walking out of the Great Hall.

"Strike 1," Ron and Neville stated together, grinning madly.

"What are you two boys on about now?" Hermione asked, looking stern.

"Nothing!" Both boys exclaimed, before running out of the Great Hall.

Harry was having the time of his life. He was with Cho, in Hogsmeade, on a date. Or was it a date? It didn't matter. Harry was happy. Time flew and so did the date. Soon enough, it was noon, and Ron and Neville butted in and ruined the date, telling Cho that he had to be somewhere else.

Walking into the Three Broomsticks, Harry continued to protest until he saw the fiery red hair of Ginny Weasley, said girl was sipping butterbeer and smiling. Harry became dazed and walked over to her, sitting next to her.

"Strike 2," Ron whispered to Neville. Neville grinned.

"Hey, Harry," Ginny said in a dreamy voice, at least that's what Harry thought it was. Harry smiled and grabbed her hand. With a swooping motion, he pulled her out of her seat out of the pub. He led her towards the Shrieking Shack, where the pair enjoyed relaxing on the hill above. As 4 started to roll around, Ron and Neville made their appearance yet again, and Harry was once again angered when he was pulled away from Ginny.

Ron and Neville pulled Harry all the way to the Hogs Head Inn, where Hermione was seated, calmly reading a book. Both Ron and Neville made themselves scarce, their excuse was using the Loo, as Harry walked over to Hermione.

"Strike 3," Neville whispered to Ron as they ran away, laughing madly.

"Hey, Hermione," Harry called out as he plopped himself next to her.

"Harry!" Hermione exclaimed, surprised.

Harry focused on the lips and the eyes of his best friend as she started to talk about whatever. He felt a sudden urge to kiss her. Timing it right, he leaned in as she turned her head to say something and their lips met.

Suddenly, Harry felt like he was drained of energy. He quickly pulled away and looked at the shocked look on her face as she processed what happened. Finally, after what was like 20 years of silence, she smiled.

"That's what you get for ignoring my feelings for 5 years, Harry James! Ron! Neville! Come out now! IT worked!" Hermione shouted, happy.

Both boys in question came out of the shadows, grinning. Harry was clueless. "What happened?"

Ron grinned. "Hermione here was impatient that you weren't understanding her affections to you, so me and Neville, per her request, punished you until you did! We dosed you three times with Amortentia, and the spell only broke when you kissed her! It was bloody brilliant mate! All you did was drink your pumpkin juice this morning!" Both boys were laughing now.

"Oh, bloody hell guys!" Harry exclaimed, putting his head in his hands. He turned to Hermione. "has it really been 5 years?"

"Yeah, Harry," she replied.

"In that case, yes. I'll be your boyfriend." Harry stated. Hermione smirked.

"Only took you 5 years to say that, boyfriend."

"Promise me this: No more potions?" Harry asked.

The other three occupants laughed. "No more potions, Harry. That's a promise," Hermione stated, smiling.
