Chapter 25: One for All

"Where do you think you are going?" Inko demanded as she caught her husband quietly putting on his shoes.

"To work of course," Hisashi replied.

"You've been working so hard for a week now. You leave before we get up and come back home after we have gone to sleep. Can't you catch a break on the weekend at least?" Inko pleaded.

Hisashi sighed, "I wish I could Inko. But this case is too important and every second counts." He replied thinking back on Eri. He still didn't have enough evidence to ask for a warrant and raid the hideout and it annoyed him.

"Well can't you at least stay until breakfast? Izuku hasn't seen you for a week either. I'm sure your officers can handle it till then?"

Hisashi bit his lips. He did trust Tsukauchi to handle things in his absence… "Fine. I'll have breakfast and then leave." Hisashi agreed.

Inko smiled and left to prepare the food.

As Hisashi sat down, Izuku yawned and walked into the dining room, "Dad!" he yelled excitedly.

"Hey, son. Up pretty early today." Hisashi commented.

"Yeah. I thought you'd have to go to the police station today as well?" Izuku asked.

"Yeah, I'll be going after breakfast. Just staying back, a while to spend some time with you." Hisashi smiled at his son, "So, Nedzu tells me you heard about All for One." Hisashi spoke in a hushed whisper, making sure Inko was not eavesdropping.

"Yeah. I was kind of surprised that we were right. Even the naming was right."

"Hmm. I suppose it goes without saying that you mustn't tell this to anyone." Hisashi warned.

"Don't worry, my lips are sealed." Izuku grinned, "But most of my classmates know already. And they pretty much believe it as well."

"Nothing to do about that," Hisashi sighed, "Robin should have been more careful though. It's best to just let it pass for now."

Izuku nodded, "But Dad, what about One for All? Nedzu-sensei didn't seem too bothered about him even though I warned him."

Hisashi frowned. "One for All? Who's that?" he asked confused.

"Wait, you don't know about One for All?" Izuku asked his father who shook his head, "Weird. I thought Nedzu sensei would have told you. Anyways, Robin-sensei had told us that quirks could be given too. We thought it was weird for someone to have opposing quirks and decided that someone else must have had a quirk to give the collected quirks away. I mean, he did have a brother."

Hisashi listened to his son with attention and barely stopped himself from correcting Izuku. Throughout his career, he had met many people with opposing quirks. They were a bit rarer of course, but he had seen quite a few.

Hisashi suspected Nedzu had made up the lie to keep Izuku away from the case to keep him safe. But, Izuku had said that he had warned Nedzu. For Nedzu to still keep going with the lie, it seemed a bit weird, "Did Nedzu look startled when you mentioned One for All; like he recognized it?"

"Yeah, why?"

Hisashi shook his head, "Not important. I'll have to ask Nedzu about it myself." Hisashi said. Nedzu's reactions had made it clear that One for All, or something similar did exist, "Sorry son. Looks like I'll have to head out early after all."

"Oh, o-ok," Izuku replied, slightly disappointed.

Hisashi felt slightly sorry for leaving like this and hugged his son warmly, "Hey. After this case is over, I swear I'll spend way more time with you, ok?"

Izuku nodded, "Ok."

"Good morning." Nedzu greeted with a smile as Hisashi slammed his door open, "To what do I owe this pleasure?"

Hisashi was unamused at Nedzu's cheery attitude, "One for All. Care to tell me about it?"

"Took you longer to ask that question than I thought. I assumed Izuku would tip you off about it a week back."

"I was busy," Hisashi excused himself, "But either way, what is One for All!" Hisashi demanded, "Unlike Izuku, I know that All for One also can give away his stolen quirks. So, what is One for All and what exactly does it do?"

"I'm afraid I can't tell you that," Nedzu responded shortly, cutting straight to the point.

"Why not?"

"It's not my secret to share."

"Not your secret? Nedzu, this guy might be a villain!"

"Hisashi, I assure you, he's not."

"How do you know that?" Hisashi asked.

"Because the person with the quirk at present is a pro-hero."

"So, what!?" Hisashi exclaimed, "He might be working with the commission or something."

"I promise you he isn't one to do something like that," Nedzu informed. Hisashi still didn't look convinced causing Nedzu to sigh, "Look do you trust me?"

Hisashi nodded, "Yeah, I do."

"Then drop the subject. One for All is not particularly necessary to find All for One at the moment. When the time comes, I'll discuss it with you."

Hisashi looked irritated but sighed and agreed.

"How's the case going?" Nedzu shifted to another topic as he poured a cup of tea for Hisashi.

Hisashi looked to slump further into his seat, "Nothing groundbreaking yet. I've been going to the Yakuza hideout every day for the past week and they keep sending me away with some excuse."

"Hmm. It could be that the boss is actually busy."

"It could…" Hisashi agreed, "But I just have that nagging feeling at the back of my mind. Eri's quirk is very strong and I wouldn't put it past Overhaul to brainwash her and weaponize her."

"Yes, that would be catastrophic," Nedzu said, thinking back on the analysis he had made for Eri's quirk. The potential was unlimited and it was frightening to think that she could be used by the villains.

"What type of evidence are you looking for anyway?" Nedzu asked.

"Anything suspicious whatsoever. Tactical teams have been keeping a lookout for Gin but he hasn't emerged from the hideout for a week. They send the low-level thugs for the errands. So there's no way of gaining information from there either."

"Couldn't you just get a warrant on suspicions of child abuse?"

"I could. But even with a warrant, the Yakuza can hold off the police just long enough for Overhaul to use his quirk and erase any signs of abuse. Even if we take Eri into custody, it would then depend on her to confess. She could very well be scared into silence and the police would be forced to send her back and then-"

"You wouldn't be able to get a warrant anymore," Nedzu finished for Hisashi with a gruff sigh, "Couldn't you use one of the secret entrances?" Nedzu offered.

"I could, but one of Overhaul's henchmen has this quirk called mimic and could probably detect me. If we use the entrance, it has to be with enough evidence to charge and with a tactical team." Hisashi explained.

"Make a list of the Yakuza's quirks for me. I'll make quirk analyses for all of them to help you. It's a weekend so Izuku will be coming too and be able to help me."

"Well, Gin was reluctant to give me info on their quirks given our past. I'll have Sansa run down to the archives and get the information." Hisashi replied.

"Thanks. Are you going to be heading to the station now?" Nedzu asked seeing Hisashi finish his tea.

"Yeah. I'll just make a stop at the hideout to see if I get lucky." Hisashi replied.

"Let's hope it will be good news."

Hisashi nodded silently and left.

"I wonder who the hero could be?" Hisashi thought as he drove to the Yakuza hideout, "There are not many people Nedzu trusts, so it should be easy to find the person. But then again, I have no idea what the quirk does."

Hisashi groaned. As much as he liked solving mysteries, it killed him to have things kept secret from him, "Maybe it's All Might. Maybe his quirk is One for All which is destined to defeat All for One." Hisashi mused, "Nah. That's stupid. The person who has One for All is probably ancient by now." Hisashi determined. It felt stupid to him that there was a special quirk destined to defeat All for One. For now, he trusted Nedzu to handle One for All.

Once Hisashi had reached the hideout, he parked the car and just opened the door when it was slammed shut. Hisashi stared at the figure, "What do you think you are doing?" he demanded.

"How many times do I have to tell you old man, the boss doesn't want to meet you." The thug said.

"Oh really? I doubt my friend would just stop talking to me without reason."

The thug snorted, "As if anyone would like to talk to the person who ratted them out." The thug remarked snidely.

Hisashi narrowed his eyes. Him being the mole was supposed to be a secret that only Gin knew, "What are you talking about?" Hisashi asked, playing dumb.

"Don't kid around. Boss told us all about it."

"Gin must have been lying."

"Gin-san?" The thug laughed, "He's been in a coma for some days. Overhaul's the boss now."

Hisashi's eyes widened with shock, "Overhaul!?" he shouted, "He's the boss!?"

"Obviously, who else would it be? Some rat like you? Now, get out of here before we force you!" The thug said loudly and kicked the car door.

Hisashi looked at the thug angrily but reversed out anyway. Gin being in a coma changed things. He was now sure that Eri wasn't safe but he still lacked evidence.

Suddenly, an idea popped into his head. As part of the plea deal, the Shie Hassaikai was forced to report all activities. And failing to report something as big as a change of leadership could allow them to use a warrant and search the place.

With a new plan in mind, Hisashi drove back to the police station.

The thug watched Hisashi's retreating car with a smug smile, "There's no way he's gonna come back now. Boss will be happy." He said aloud.

"Will I?"

"Boss!" The thug yelled with surprise and turned quickly, "I didn't see you there."

"What makes you think I'll be happy with you?" Overhaul asked with thinly veiled anger.

"Well, you were upset that a police officer was keeping on coming. I thought scaring him would stop him and make you happy." The thug replied.

"Is that so?" Overhaul said in a much nicer tone, "Then why don't you come inside, I have something for you, as a reward."

The thug put on a smug smile and entered the hideout. As soon as they were out of police surveillance range, Overhaul removed his gloves and quickly touched the thug's face before he could even scream. "You idiot!" Overhaul yelled at the headless body, "Who the hell told you to say that Gin-san is in a coma. Now they can try and use that to launch an investigation into the Shie Hassaikai. Dumbass!" Overhaul yelled as he kicked the body.

"Should we halt experimentations, Chisaki?" Kurona asked.

Overhaul took a few deep breaths to calm himself down before shaking his head, "No. Every second counts. I can erase the evidence in case of a raid."

Kurono nodded and left to carry out the experiments.

Meanwhile, in a nearby surveillance van, a group was listening in to the conversation, "Should we report this to the police?"

The man in charge shook his head, "They'd only mess it up. We'll carry out further investigations first, and then just get a permit for a raid."

"Understood."
