"Finally, we're on the east side of Hoenn!" Brendan exclaimed.
"Feels like it's been forever that we've been heading here." Ash said. "And somewhere over here is your dad, and the remaining gyms."
"Not a lot of land over here." Flannery said, seeing Wally's map. "Not looking forward to that."
"Looks like all we have to do is find this river here, and follow it upstream. That will take us straight to Fortree City." Wally said.
"It's almost time." Ash said, looking at Feebas's Pokeball.
"Time for what?" Flannery asked.
"I promised I'd bring Feebas back home. I caught and saved her from some poachers nearby Dewford Island." Ash explained. "It's part of why I never really use her that much." Ash admitted. "I never wanted me or the others getting too attached to her."
"Well, according to the Pokedex, the Feebas habitat is near Fortree city." Brendan said. "So for now we have a while to go."
After a bit of walking, the group came to a large clearing
"Okay, which way is it from here?" Wally asked, seeing no river in sight yet.
"Well, lets see what the… and nope we have no signal on the Pokenavs." Brendan sighed.
"Pi." Pikachu said, sniffing the air, before running in one of the directions.
"I guess we're going this way!" Ash said, heading in the same direction Pikachu went.
The group soon found themselves in a field filled with all sorts of berries.
"This place is incredible." Ash said.
"I think there are hybrid berries growing here." Brendan admitted, looking at some of the trees. "How do you think that happened?"
"Just like Nuzleaf's bullet seed I presume." Wally said, looking at some lower hanging berries. "Pokemon eat the old berries and spit out the seeds that grow into new ones."
"Guys, I don't think we should be here." Flannery said, looking around.
"Relax, if they didn't want anyone in here, there would have been a fence, these are probably wild trees." Brendan said, plucking a berry.
"You'd best be dropping that if ya know whats good for you." A girl's voice said.
"Okay, but can I just set it down slowly? It feels like dropping it would ruin the berry." Brendan said, slowly lowering it and himself to the ground.
Ash and the others turned around to see a girl standing next to a large Pokemon.
"Who's that Pokemon?" Wally asked.
"Hold on." Ash said, opening his Pokedex.
'Tropius, the Fruit Pokemon, a grass and flying type. The bunches of fruit around Tropius's neck are very popular with children. This pokemon loves fruit, and eats it continuously. Apparently, its love for fruit resulted in it's own outgrowth of fruit.' Ash's Pokedex said.
"A grass type." Brendan said.
"Seems like a Pokemon like Tropius would be great for a berry farm." Wally commented.
"It is, now you better start talking about why you four are trespassing on our Berry Farm and stealing our produce." The girl said.
"Sorry, we didn't know." Ash said. "There was no fence or signs, we just followed my Pikachu here."
"And that gives you a right to steal the fruit." The girl said.
"Like I said, I'm sorry we thought they were wild berries." Ash apologized.
"Oh, so that just gives you the right to take them. Oh look a Pikachu, I think it's wild, guess I'll just take it!" The girl said going over to Pikachu.
"Hold it!" Flannery argued, getting in the girls way. "We said we were sorry, Brendan only took a single berry, a simple mistake." Flannery pointed out. "Now you are going to step away from Pikachu, or else."
"Or else what?" The girl said, as her Tropius approached from behind.
"Or else, you deal with me." Flannery said.
"Bring it." The girl retorted.
"Slugma, I choose you!" Flannery called out.
"Too easy." The girl said. "Tropius use Stomp!"
"Slugma use Harden!"
Slugma's body condensed, only for it to be splatted to the ground as Tropius stomped on it.
"Now Slugma use Ember!"
"Tropius use Razor Leaf!"
Flames collided with leaves, neither attack gaining any ground.
"Slugma use Rock Throw!"
"Tropius use Gust!"
Slugma's attack was thrown right back at him as the strong winds whipped around.
"Slugma use Smog!"
"Tropius use Gust!"
Tropius flapped it's wings, causing the poisonous gas to resurround Slugma.
"Slugma use Ember!"
"Tropius use Razor Leaf!"
The lack of speed was causing trouble for SLugma as Tropius's attack fought back towards the fire type, as the leaves were just about to hit Slugma, the small embers turned into a large stream of flames, easily pushing back against the opposing attack and blasting Tropius out of the sky.
"Slug!" Slugma said triumphantly, until Tropius came charging back at them.
"Slugma use Flamethrower!"
Flames shot out at Tropius, engulfing it in the blaze, as the grass type dropped to the ground.
"Tropius!" The girl cried out.
"Now will you listen? We didn't mean any harm, if you wanted no trespassers or no one taking berries put up signs or a fence!" Flannery argued.
"Fine, you've proven your point, you can go." The girl said angrily.
"And?" Flannery asked.
"And I'm sorry that I was so harsh about you stealing things that you had no right to." The girl sulked.
"Close enough." Ash said, easing Flannery away. "Come on, we got enough of a signal up here, we found the right way to go."
