"Good morning my beautiful girl!" Mom had a huge smile on her face as she hugged me. I took notice of the sparkling ring on her finger. Obviously she was wearing it. She was engaged. She was also very happy about that fact. Who wouldn't be, though?

"Morning," I mumbled back. I had just woken up. But I was so hungry. Clearly Mom had a lot of energy.

She smiled brightly. "Want me to make you some breakfast?" She was in an insanely good mood. And she was very much awake for it being so early. I hadn't even expected her to be awake. Let alone wide awake.

"Sure," I smiled back at her, rubbing my eyes to get some of the sleep out of them. Unlike Mom, I was human. And extremely exhausted.

"Sit, sit." She motioned to the chairs at the island.

"I can help," I said with a laugh.

"No sit down" Mom encouraged. So, I sat. I wasn't gonna fight her. There was some silence while she got different ingredients from around the kitchen, once she started cooking the eggs, though, she looked at me. "So. What do you think about the engagement?" She smiled even more- if that was possible. She was clearly over joyed.

"I'm happy for you guys." I said immediately, and honestly. I was beyond happy for Callie and Mom. This was really good. I knew this was a big step for them, and I was glad I got to be there for it.

"Yeah?"

"Of course."

"Were you in on it? The ice cream thing?" Mom tilted her head.

I laughed. "Yeah. I've known about it for weeks."

"Weeks?!" Mom looked shocked.

"Well, yeah." I said matter-of-factly.

"Weeks?!" Mom repeated, still not quite sure what to think.

I nodded. "Callie asked me a while ago." I shrugged.

"Asked you?" Mom rose an eyebrow.

"If she could propose to you." I explained, playing with the place mat in front of me.

"She asked you?" Mom's face softened.

"Cause she didn't want to do it if I wasn't ready." I just realized Mom didn't know any of this. Which, surprised me. I mean, it had only been hours since the proposal, but still, I figured Callie would've told her.

"Really?" I saw tears forming in her eyes.

"Mom. No need to cry." I said quickly. So dramatic. Obviously they were happy tears. But still. Dramatic.

"That's just..." She sighed, rubbing her eyes. "That's really sweet." She finished, managing to not cry, surprisingly enough.

I nodded a bit. It was sweet. It meant a lot to me that Callie had asked. Which was all of the more reason for me to be happy about this. Callie cared about me, too.

She calmed herself down, turning around and just focusing on cooking for a moment. Then, "What did you tell her?"

"I was excited. So I said she should." I said casually.

Mom nodded slowly, as if waiting for more to be said.

"That's why I was asking you about rings." I added on.

Mom looked confused.

"Callie didn't know your ring size. So she asked me to find out so we could get you a ring."

"We?"

"I went with her. I guess she got it." I giggled.

"You went with her?!" Mom looked shocked yet again.

"Did you and Callie not talk at all last night?" I was still surprised she didn't know any of this. I really figured Callie would have told her. Maybe not every detail but, I mean, at least a little bit of it.

Mom's face turned pink.

I didn't mean it like that. Ugh. I could've gone my whole life not knowing that.

"Mom that's nasty." I whined, shaking my head rapidly.

"Olivia," Mom glanced at me.

"That wasn't even how I meant it!" I defended. "I just... I was wondering why Callie hadn't told you about how she got the ring." I looked at my lap. "I guess I know now."

"Eggs! Would you like ketchup with your eggs!" Mom said quickly, barely missing a beat after I finished speaking.

"Please." I nodded, just following the topic change. Gladly.

She put some bread in the toaster and then walked to the fridge, getting the ketchup.

A slightly awkward silence filled the room as she prepared the rest of breakfast.

Maybe it was just awkward for me.

Gross to think that they did that while I was here.

I should stop thinking it.

I looked up as Mom set two plates down, and then passed me a fork.

"Thank you!" I said.

She smiled and sat next to me. "Okay. I wanna hear more about this Callie asking you thing. Seriously!"

I giggled, then shrugged. "I mean...she just kinda said it."

Mom glanced at me, waiting for more to be said.

"She asked me what I thought and said she wanted to ask me. I got excited. She asked me about the ring size. So, I said I would find out."

"Why so monotone?" Mom laughed.

"Sorry!" I said dramatically, making her laugh more. "Then I told her that I'm happy for you guys, because marriage is... a big step. Ya know? And I said I like how nice she is, I guess." I spoke with more emotion.

Mom smiled.

"Oh. And, Isa knew." I giggled.

"Isa knew?!" Mom slapped her hand on the counter dramatically.

"Isa knew. Teddy knew. April knew. Aria knew. Well, Callie's whole family knew."

"For weeks?"

I nodded. "I came so close to slipping up. But I didn't. That's the longest I've ever kept a secret from you," I said proudly.

Mom shook her head, "That will be the only secret you ever keep from me. Yes?"

"It was a secret for a good cause! Aren't you glad I didn't tell you!!"

She laughed, "I am glad. Thank you for helping to make it so special."

"You deserve it." I meant that. Mom did deserve it. Mom deserved all the good things anyone could get. All of them.
