Disclaimer: I don't own Pokemon. Pokemon is owned by Nintendo, Junichi Masuda, Shigeki Morimoto, Ken Sugimori, Shigeru Miyamoto, Satoshi Tajiri and Shigeru Ohmori.

Azure: This is my personal favorite gen, so hopefully this ends up good.

-Line-

Bryant: The Unova Region. This region was considered to be a 'soft-reboot' of the Pokemon franchise.

Thea: A completely different PokeDex without any previous Pokemon until the sequels. And with a new PokeDex, comes new Starters.

Bryant: Serperior, the Regal Pokemon.

Thea: Emboar, the Mega Fire Pig Pokemon.

Bryant: And Samurott, the Formidable Pokemon.

Thea: We'll be using the same rules as we've done before. PokeDex Entries are taken literally, all natural moves, and nothing that can only be acquired by them having a trainer, like Tutor moves or Items.

Bryant: I'm Bryant Reese.

Thea: And I'm Thea Price.

Bryant: And we're here to analyze these three fighters and find out who would win, a WI Battle!

-Line Break-

Bryant: Starting out Gen 5 is the classic Grass-Type Starter. Snivy, the Grass Snake Pokemon, is a difficult Pokemon to raise, requiring more patience until it gets to a higher level. However, this is made up for by its natural intellect and calm nature.

Thea: At level 17, Snivy evolves into its stronger form, Servine. Servines like to keep themselves clean, but are pretty good fighters thanks to their stealth skills and swift attacks, using masterful whipping attacks to take their opponents out.

Bryant: At level 36, Servine evolves into its final form, the Regal Pokemon known as Serperior.

Serperior:

-Regal Pokemon

-HP: 260 (Average)

-ATK: 139 (Average)

-DEF: 175 (Above Average)

-SP. ATK: 139 (Average)

-SP. DEF: 175 (Above Average)

-SPD: 207 (Above Average)

Thea: So, it goes from baby snek, to teen snek, to royal snek. Sacrificing its arms to get that royal status.

Bryant: Actually, Serperiors do have arms, they're just small, and not very useful compared to their other abilities.

Thea: I don't know if that's better or worse.

Bryant: Standing at ten feet and ten inches and weighing almost 140 lbs, Serperiors certainly live up to their titles of the Regal Pokemon. It is said that it can stop its opponents' movements with a single glare. And it only gives the fight its all when its opponent has a strong enough will to withstand their glares.

Thea: That's actually a good thing for some Pokemon. Serperiors are pretty useful fighters. Sure, they only have average Atk and Sp. Atk, but they make up for it thanks to their above average Def and Sp. Def, letting them tank some decent damage. And that's if their opponents can land a hit. Serperiors are pretty fast, and some are even able to move faster than the eye can see. And they can even give themselves a boost thanks to the usage of photosynthesis.

Moves/Abilities:

-Ability: Overgrow

-Physical Attacks

=Vine Whip

=Slam

=Leaf Blade

-Special Attacks

=Leaf Tornado

=Giga Drain

=Wring Out

=Leaf Storm

-Status

=Leer

=Leech Seed

=Coil

=Gastro Acid

Bryant: Regarding Serperior's moveset, it, predictably, relies mostly on the usage of Grass-Type attacks. With Vine Whip, Serperior can attack with swift vines or hold its opponents in place. It can toss around heavy opponents with Slam, a Normal-Type move which makes it useful for a lot of different Pokemon Types.

Thea: But its best move is the Leaf Blade. A move where it covers its tail with green energy to turn it into a deadly blade, which it can use to slice foes up, and has a high critical hit rate.

Bryant: It can attack at a range with a gust of razor sharp leaves in the form of Leaf Tornado, drain health and recover with Giga Drain, or use the strange Wring Out, which does more damage the more health their opponents have.

Thea: And when it's really struggling, it can use Leaf Storm, which is the better version of Leaf Tornado, but decreases Sp. Atk.

Bryant: Fortunately, most Serperiors seem to prefer to use physical attacks, which it can make more effective by lowering its opponent's Def through Leer, and increasing its own Def and Atk stats, along with its Accuracy, with Coil. Gastro Acid can be used to cancel a Pokemon's Ability, and Leech Seed can be used to continuously drain its target over time.

Thea: Players who use Serperior are smart, trying to take advantage of its defensive stats to set up a good amount of Coils while evening the playing field with Gastro Acid and Leech Seed.

Bryant: What's more, some Pokemon like Latias and Latios are comparable to jet planes, and they have a Speed Stat of only 202 compared to Serperior's 207, meaning that Serperiors should be of similar speed of about 575 miles per hour. However, even slower Pokemon such as Machamp can attack at the speed of sound, throwing a thousand punches in just two seconds.

Thea: A freakin' Golem with a speed stat of 85 can dodge lightspeed lasers. Which means that Pokemon are really, really, fast.

Bryant: Even if Serperior is put into a pinch, it can turn the tables thanks to its Special Ability, Overgrow, which gives all its Grass-type moves a 50% percent increase in power

Bryant: Serperiors are certainly dangerous fighters, but they have their own respective weaknesses.

Weaknesses:

-Pure Grass-Type

=Weak to Fire, Bug, Flying, Ice, and Poison

-Limited arsenal

-Medium Slow Growth Rate

Thea: We've covered a lot of Pokemon, so you should be familiar with their typings and what they have to offer and need to protect against. Grass-Types like Serperiors are good against Water, Rock, and Ground-Types, but they're weak to Fire, Bug, Flying, Ice, and Poison-Types. Which is pretty bad considering that, in the games, you fight a lot of Fire, Bug, Flying, Ice, and Poison-Types!

Bryant: These battles range from regular trainers, Team Plasma members, and also Gym Leaders. What really makes the games more difficult for players who chose Snivy, is Serperior's Growth Rate.

Thea: Serperiors have a Medium Slow Growth Rate, which is common for Starters. A Pokemon's Growth Rate basically determines how much Experience Points they need to level up, and how quickly they can level up. Since a Serperior has a Medium Slow Growth Rate, that means they can fall behind teammates with higher Growth Rates, especially since they're pretty limited in terms of what they can do. Without a good Trainer helping them out with TMs and Tutor Moves, as well as different Vitamins, they can't do too much.

Bryant: But a clever Serperior is a Serperior who earned its demeanor. Should it work smart, it just might win the day.

-Line Break-

Thea: Next in the line of the Unovan Pokemon Starters is the Fire-Type. The cute little piggy that is Tepig is surprisingly agile, dodging attacks before counter attacking with fireballs. It's a pretty useful Pokemon to have. At level 17, it evolves into the bipedal Pignite, a Fire/Fighting-Type. As if two in a row wasn't enough.

Bryant: Pignites are strong. Should the fire inside of it become stronger, it becomes stronger itself, and it becomes more combat capable, especially when angered. However, when it evolves at level 36, its fire manifests outside its body as it evolves into the mighty Emboar.

Emboar:

-Mega Fire Pig Pokemon

-HP: 330 (Above Average)

-ATK: 225 (High Above Average)

-DEF: 121 (Average)

-SP. ATK: 184 (Above Average)

-SP. DEF: 121 (Average)

-SPD: 121 (Average)

Thea: Big muscles? Fancy beard? Cares a lot about its friends? This is a manly Pokemon!

Bryant: Emboars are strong and skilled fighters, having mastered different fighting moves and usually attacking with flaming fists. Not only are they extremely powerful with their high above average Atk and above average Sp. Atk, but they also weigh over 300 pounds and possess an above average HP stat, making them a good tank in spite of its average defensive stats and speed.

Thea: Serperiors are the fastest of the Unovan Trio, but Emboar is obviously the strongest.

Moves/Abilities:

-Ability: Blaze

-Physical Attacks

=Arm Thrust

=Flame Charge

=Rollout

=Take Down

=Heat Crash

=Assurance

=Head Smash

=Flare Blitz

=Hammer Arm

-Special Attacks

=Smog

=Flamethrower

-Status

=Odor Sleuth

=Tail Whip

=Defense Curl

=Roar

Thea: You do not want to be on the receiving end of its powerful Arm Thrusts, or its Take Down. If it wasn't for the likes of Hariyama, I'd say that Emboar is the closest thing we got to a sumo wrestler in Pokemon. Its extra weight comes in handy for Heat Crash, which increases in power if the user increases in weight. While they also have moves like Defense Curl to boost Defense and Roar to get rid of stat boosting effects by getting rid of the Pokemon itself, an Emboar is more likely to focus on offense.

Bryant: Emboars are surprisingly versatile thanks to having more than just Fire and Fighting-type moves. While its speed increasing Flame Charge is certainly a useful move, a good Rollout can deal more damage to, say, a Water-type. And while Arm Thrust is certainly powerful, Assurance can deal double the already super-effective damage against faster Ghost and Psychic-types.

Thea: It's got the standard Fire-Type signature in Flamethrower, and it's even got Smog for Fairy-Types, which could poison opponents to make them weaker over time. And if you don't take it seriously, it can smash you to bits with the devastating Hammer Arm. Sure, it makes Emboar slower, but Hammer Arm is a stab 100 power attack, which will do big damage on even the toughest Pokemon.

Bryant: However, Emboars are most useful using powerful recoil moves. While these do damage the user by specific percentages of how much damage they deal, Emboar's high HP makes it easier for them to absorb recoil damage, allowing them to use more of them than other Pokemon.

Thea: With Head Smash, Emboar delivers a full-powered headbutt that deals 50% recoil damage. And since it's a Rock-type, it's pretty useful for Flying-type Pokemon, which counter Emboar's Fighting-type. With a base power of 150, it's just as powerful as Emboar's Hammer Arm. But not as powerful as Flare Blitz! Sure it deals 30% recoil, but it's a 120 power move and stab. No one is getting away from that unscathed. And when Blaze activates, Emboar's Fire moves each get a boost of times 1.5! Just be glad it doesn't come with its Reckless Hidden Ability, which gives all recoil moves an even bigger boost in power!

Bryant: Emboars are quite powerful. In the anime, Bianca's Emboar was strong enough to keep up with a Conkeldurr.

Thea: Which is a Pokemon that literally uses concrete pillars as walking canes and weapons! They're also stronger than a Machamp, who are strong enough to move mountains!

Bryant: An average mountain alone weighs well over a million tons, with Mt. Everest weighing billions! And while Emboars aren't as strong as a Machamp, they can certainly match them considering that a Machamp has an Atk stat of 238.

Thea: That's only 13 points higher than an Emboar! Other Pokemon such as Tyranitar are strong enough to crumble mountains to make a nest! And being a Fire/Fighting-type, it can take hits from Grass, Dark, Bug, Ice, and Steel moves.

Bryant: Emboars are certainly big threats, but, like all Pokemon, it has its flaws in battle.

Weaknesses:

-Is a Fire/Fighting-Type

=Weak to Water, Ground, Flying, and Psychic-Types

-Slowest of the Unovan Starters

-Doesn't have recovery moves

-Medium Slow Growth Rate

Bryant: The downside to Emboar having powerful recoil moves is that it lacks any form of recovery, making it difficult to keep the momentum up. This is especially critical when facing off against Water, Ground, Flying, or Psychic-types, who can deal a lot of damage on top of the recoil.

Thea: It doesn't help that Emboars are the slowest in the Unovan Trio. So when put against the fast Serperior or the Water Samurott, it's not gonna be an easy fight. But still, the Mega Pig is mega strong. If you don't have the right Pokemon with the right characteristics, Emboar is just gonna run right over you.

-Line Break-

Bryant: To finish off the Unova Starters is the Water-type Oshawott, the Sea Otter Pokemon. Despite its small size, an Oshawott tends to retaliate quite quickly using its signature scalchop on its stomach.

Thea: At level 17, it evolves into the Discipline Pokemon, Dewott. Dewotts are like expert swordsmen, always training to master their dual-wielding technique and fighting-style with its dual scalchops with strict training regimes every single day. And at level 36, it evolves into the Formidable Pokemon, Samurott.

Samurott:

-Formidable Pokemon

-HP: 300 (Above Average)

-ATK: 184 (Above Average)

-DEF: 157 (Average)

-SP. ATK: 198 (Above Average)

-SP. DEF: 130 (Average)

-SPD: 130 (Average)

Bryant: With above average stats in HP, Atk, and Sp. Atk, Samurott surpasses Serperior while losing in those regards to Emboar, but surpasses it in Def, Sp. Def, and Speed despite losing to those regards to Serperior.

Thea: Samurotts are more balanced tanks, dipping their feet into both sides of the pool. And something about this Pokemon just screams fighting master.

Bryant: You wouldn't be far off.

Thea: It's the mustache.

Bryant: No. Samurotts are fierce yet skilled warriors. It's said that, in a blink of an eye, a Samurott can draw, slash, and sheathe its sword-shaped shells, referred to as seamitars, faster than someone can blink, which is a method similar to that of Iaijutsu, the quick-draw of swordfighting.

Thea: It's the fancy anime sword technique where someone with a katana has their sword in its sheath, then just brings it out as a slash. It's a form of sword fighting that revolves around counter-attacks and surprising foes, since it's believed that drawing your sword out in this way actually makes it faster than an average sword swing.

Bryant: Samurotts are powerful, capable of taking down opposing Pokemon with a single swing and intimidating them with a single glare. All of this points to an average Samurott being some of the most skilled Pokemon in the Pokemon line-up.

Thea: No wonder it was chosen to have its very own Hisuian form in Legends:Arceus. 'Scuse me, Arkoos.

Bryant: MandJTV reference, nice. But regarding that, we obviously aren't going to use the Hisuian variant of Samurott, and will instead focus entirely on the original version from Unova.

Moves/Abilities:

-Ability: Torrent

-Physical Attacks

=Aqua Jet

=Aqua Tail

=Razor Shell

=Slash

=Fury Cutter

=Megahorn

=Revenge

=Retaliate

-Special Attacks

=Water Pulse

=Hydro Pump

-Status

=Tail Whip

=Focus Energy

=Water Sport

=Encore

=Swords Dance

Thea: So while Samurotts can either mow opponents down with Hydro Pump or confuse them with Water Pulse, they much rather use their Physical Attacks.

Bryant: With Razor Shell and Slash, Samurotts attack with their signature seamitars as swift slashes, one with a chance to lower Defense and the other with a high critical hit rate, which can be boosted even more with Focus Energy. With the powerful Revenge, Samurott's average Speed allows it to deal massive damage, and its Aqua Jet allows it to strike first in almost any battle.

Thea: Tail Whip can lessen a Pokemon's Def, making it easier for Samurott to deal more damage, especially with its other moves, such as the avenging Retaliate or with Fury Cutter, which grows strong each time Samurott uses it. Or it can put away its swords and use its horn for a devastating Megahorn for Grass, Psychic, and Dark-types. With Encore, Pokemon are forced to use the same move they've already used, leaving them open for a follow-up attack.

Bryant: However, the move of note this time is Swords Dance, which can double a Samurott's Atk with just one use. In the playthrough of Chuggaconroy, he was able to one-shot the entirety of Pokemon Champion Cynthia's team with just an Aqua Jet for each Pokemon after boosting with Swords Dance. And Pokemon Champions are the trainers meant to be the best of the best.

Thea: Samurotts are obviously skilled fighters. Being based off of samurais, they can use their swords for both offense and defense. And their Torrent Ability gives them the usual 50% power boost for all their Water-type moves.

Bryant: What's more, there's a common term in the Competitive Pokemon community, that being Bulky Water-types. A phrase which describes Water-type Pokemon with good health and defensive stats.

Thea: Water-types aren't bad at being tanks, since they can resist Fire, Ice, and Steel-types, while most of the other types only deal regular damage against them.

Bryant: With their skill and balanced stats, as well as their diverse moveset, a Samurott is easily the most well-rounded out of the three Pokemon we've analyzed. They may not be as strong as Emboars or as fast as Serperior, but they have their own advantages over them. As well as their own disadvantages.

Weaknesses:

-Pure Water-Type

=Weak to Grass and Electric-types

-Limited ranged attacks

-Medium Slow Growth Rate

Thea: Samurotts have the same weakness as many regular swordsmen, that being that they don't have a lot of ranged options. A Samurott needs the help of a Trainer to give it more special moves, like Ice Beam, Surf, or Grass Knot.

Bryant: What's more, a Samurott can and will fall to strong enough Grass and Electric-type Pokemon, especially ones who can drain its HP over time. Still, Samurotts are formidable foes, and hard to take down.

Thea: If you wanna take one on, you'd better be prepared. Otherwise, it'd just cut you down.

-Line Break-

Bryant: Alright, the stage is set, time to start this dance.

Thea: Battle ready, set, GO!

-Line Break-

A Serperior basked in the light of the sun, breathing slightly. Suddenly, it heard a rumble, interrupting its sun session. The Regal Pokemon huffed in annoyance before slithering off to investigate the source of the disruption. Nearby, an Emboar watched as another tree fell down. It narrowed its eyes and huffed as its beard flared before stepping towards the tree. Finally, at the source of where the tree fell, stood a lone Samurott, a single seamitar drawn, standing in a large opening clear of trees. Samurott's whiskers twitched, and the Water-type's eyes opened. Serperior and Emboar walked into the opening, eyeing each other and Samurott. The Regal Pokemon and the Formidable Pokemon's glares clashed, but neither backed down. Nor did the Mega Fire Pig Pokemon, who simply widened its stance. And the three knew.

"SEER!" Serperior hissed.

"SAAAH!" Samurott cried.

"ROAR!" Emboar roared.

They had found worthy opponents!

Generation Five collides!

Fight!

Serperior was the first to strike, as the snake darted over the field towards Samurott. Its opponent held out its seamitar in acceptance of the challenge, and the two clashed! Serperior grew two sturdy vines that whipped through the air and collided with Samurott's seamitar, but were knocked away as Samurott charged. Serperior hissed and snarled as it weaved around Samurott's blurring slashes before the two jumped apart as Emboar charged through them.

"Boa!" Emboar roared as it leapt high into the air and came crashing down in a flaming ball of fire. Serperior swiftly dodged the Heat Crash as Emboar slammed into the ground, sending dust into the air. Samurott charged into the dust and swung its two glowing seamitars. Emboar's thick arms shot out and caught the Slash attacks. Samurott narrowed its eyes and began swinging the seamitars faster and faster as Emboar's arms shot towards it in a barrage of palm thrusts. Slash and Arm Thrust met repeatedly until they knocked each other back. Samurott and Emboar both took their stance, readying for another bout.

"Serperior!" Serperior suddenly wrapped around Emboar and squeezed the Fire-type's arms against itself. Emboar grunted as Serperior tried to crush it and began forcing its arms apart. Serperior snarled and swung Emboar around until it was able to slam the bigger Pokemon down. Serperior slithered off Emboar and towards Samurott, who drew its other seamitar and held them both at the ready. Serperior's tail glowed green while Samurott's became covered in high-pressure water. The two snarled as they clashed, their blades constantly clashing and pushing each other back. Samurott blocked a downward slash with crossed blades and slashed Serperior away.

"Emboar!" Emboar slammed into Serperior while covered in fire as its Speed rose. The Fire-type grabbed Serperior by the tail and slammed it around before throwing it away and blasting fire towards Samurott. The Water-type shot back a ball of water, creating a steam cloud as the two attacks collided.

Emboar lowered an arm after blocking the cloud and looked around cautiously. A dark shadow appeared in front of him and a pair of sharp eyes flashed. Emboar flinched back as its Defense fell and a green tail wrapped around it. Serperior slammed Emboar down on its face before throwing it away and sending a flurry of powerful winds filled with razor-sharp leaves. Emboar grunted as it got up to a knee and blocked the Leaf Tornado with a thick arm. Serperior slashed Emboar with a Leaf Blade, but the Mega Fire Pig Pokemon caught the blade and blasted Serperior with a point-blank Flamethrower. Serperior hissed in pain before twisting around Emboar and glowing purple. Emboar groaned as the Wring Out damaged it quite a bit before grabbing Serperior again. Serperior stabbed Emboar with thorny vines and quickly used Giga Drain before Emboar reared back and slammed its head against Serperior's. Serperior's eyes widened and cried out in pain as it was slammed against the ground. Emboar groaned as it staggered back.

"Samurott!" Samurott roared as it dashed in and slashed Emboar with a blade made of water. Emboar cried out as its Defense lowered again before Samurott smashed the Pokemon away with an Aqua Tail. Serperior hissed as it quickly lashed out with Vine Whip, only for Samurott to slash the vines with a sword glowing a yellowish-green. The Fury Cutters slashed the vines, growing stronger and stronger until Samurott slashed Serperior across the chest, sending it flying. Serperior slammed against a tree at the edge of the clearing, hissing as it did. Samurott swung its swords as it used Swords Dance, raising its Atk before charging. Serperior growled as the winds kicked up a bigger storm of leaves. Samurott narrowed its eyes before launching itself while covered in water. Serperior was caught off-guard by the fast Aqua Jet and found itself slammed against the tree again as the Leaf Storm disappeared.

Samurott landed a bit away and shot forward again with a horn glowing a bright green. Serperior brought out its vines to defend itself, only for Samurott to break through them and pierce through Serperior's chest. When the horn went through the Pokemon and hit the tree, the back of the tree exploded into splinters. Serperior let out one last cry before slumping over Samurott. The Formidable Pokemon sighed as it backed up.

"Boar." Samurott looked over its shoulder as Emboar approached and helped take the Serperior off its horn. They laid Serperior down before walking back to the middle of the clearing. The two eyed each other and took their stances.

"Roar!" Emboar charged forward, covered in flames as Samurott rocketed forwards covered in water. Flame Charge and Aqua Jet collided and sent the two flying away from each other. Emboar quickly used another Flame Charge to rocket towards Samurott and slammed into it, sending Samurott flying. The Formidable Pokemon landed on all fours and took out a seamitar. Emboar rocketed forwards in another Flame Charge before leaping up and falling down with a powerful Hammer Arm. Samurott roared as it used Razor Shell to intercept, but was slammed into the ground, sending up a large amount of dust. Emboar was knocked out of the cloud, followed by Samurott charging forwards. Emboar covered itself with fire again, this time burning hot enough to turn blue.

"Rott!" Samurott skidded to a stop and sprayed a stream of water from its mouth. Emboar powered through the water and slammed into Samurott into a Flare Blitz, but the Water-type reared up and caught Emboar's charge, skidding back slightly. Emboar growled and slammed a palm against Samurott's cheek, knocking it away. The Fire/Fighting-type threw a barrage of palm thrusts, only for Samurot to parry one and return with a devastating Revenge that knocked Emboar away. Water surged in its mouth and blasted its opponent, dealing massive damage. Emboar grunted and tried another Head Smash, only for Samurott to draw a Razor Shell and impaled Emboar in the stomach. The Mega Fire Pig Pokemon growled in pain before Samurott split its opponent in half with one powerful swing upwards. The two halves fell apart, leaving Samurott standing alone. Samurott roared into the sky in triumph.

KO!

Thea: That was a cool fight! And a pretty close one.

Bryant: Right. Every member of the Unovan Trio had at least three advantages over the others. Serperior had the edge over Emboar and Samurott in Defense and Speed, and could shut down their Special Abilities with Gastro Acid. Emboar had the edge over Serperior and Samurott in Attack and HP, and could easily undo stat boosts with Roar. Samurott had the edge over Serperior in Atk and HP while surpassing Emboar in Defense and Speed, and could limit their options with Encore.

Thea: So with all that in mind, which one would win? Let's take a closer look into what they had.

Bryant: Serperior unfortunately had more disadvantages than advantages. While it had the most Defense out of the three, Grass-types have many weaknesses, making it quite easy to do large amounts of damage despite its Defensive nature, especially with Serperior's lowest health stat. This means that Serperior would have to rely on offense, but would struggle with not only its lowest Attack stats, but also its limited arsenal with no super-effective coverage moves against Emboar.

Thea: And if that wasn't enough, Serperior mostly had Special moves despite only having the Physical boosting Coil, so that doesn't help. Meanwhile, Emboar was the strongest, and it had Stab for both Fire and Fighting. That means it can deal super-effective damage against Serperior and still deal big damage to Samurott despite Fighting being neutral against Water.

Bryant: Except Emboar's biggest trump cards, Recoil Moves, were actually detrimental due to it not having any recovery moves to help undo that damage. And with Emboar having the lowest Speed and Defense stats, it's far more likely for Emboar to become too drained to use Recoil Moves. And it's rather likely that Emboar would be targeted by both, as Serperior fight opponents that its sees as worthy and Samurott's skill would lead it to try to eliminate the easier target, a Fire-type, so that it could focus on the bigger threat, the Grass-type, after they whittle each other down.

Thea: That leads us to Samurott. Not only did they have stat edges over both opponents, but they also don't have a lot of weaknesses. Sure, it can't overpower Emboar or outspeed Serperior naturally, but it more than made up for it thanks to its skill.

Bryant: Every Unovan Starter was described to be a fierce fighter from their beginning stages, but the Samurott line was the only one that was stated to actually train rather than just fight. This means that Samurott can keep up with Emboar's greater power and Serperior's greater speed, and could close the gap between them even more with super-effective moves to both of them. It had multiple Water-type moves to deal with Emboar, even weakening its Fire moves with Water Sport, and Bug-type moves to deal with Serperior.

Thea: This wasn't going to be an easy fight, but Samurott's greater skill, more versatile arsenal, and more well-rounded stats gave the Water Pokemon the edge it needed to win the Gen 5 battle royale. Samurott was just better than the otters. Which means that the winner of this WI Battle is Samurott!

I was actually thinking that Emboar was gonna win this fight, and was a little disappointed when it lost, since its my favorite of the three. But I like all three, so I was gonna lose either way. Anyways, thanks for reading, and we'll be approaching Chapter 50 soon. After that chapter, I'll probably take a break from WIB and just focus on the other fics. But that's probably gonna take a while. Anyways, as per the usual, leave a review! Azure out!

NEXT TIME!

"Man, the Sonic movies were awesome!"

"I agree. It was a good idea to binge them."

"Is it really binge when there's only two of them? But it makes me want to do a Sonic matchup! But, which one?"

"Hm…"

"How about this one?"

"... Two Battle Royales in a row?"

"Why not?"

"...This is going to be stressful."

BADNIK BATTLE ROYALE!
