Chapter 8
Arizona
It's been 6 months, baby Sammi is now 6 months old, and looking more and more like her momma every day. Which is funny, since Sofia looks so much like Callie, it's like there's 3 Calliope's running around. Well, I shouldn't say running around, baby Sammi isn't mobile yet, but in my opinion its just a matter of time. Steph is now showing big time, she found out a few months back she's having twins. Zola and she had decided not to find out the sex of them. Which was actually killing me, we have been working on setting up the fourth bedroom upstairs for the new babies, or I should say I have been. Callie started back at work, not long after baby Sammi came, and once Sofia went back to work, I've been home with her. At this moment I'm sitting in the kitchen, enjoying a cup of coffee, everyone has left for the day. So, it was just me and lil miss Samantha, who was napping in her plaything in the living room. Being a grandma was great, although in a few months with 3 little ones in the house might be a little chaotic but having them all so close together in age will be awesome. I smile, as I pick up my cup, and take a sip. The house was quiet, except for the soft snores I hear coming from the little one in the living room. Life was good, hearing my phone ping with a notification I reach for it and see it's from my wife. Laughing when I saw the picture I had saved for her profile, it was Sammi shoving some cake in Callie's mouth but completely missed and smeared it all over Callie's face. Reading the text I was confused all it said was "4pm city hall, wear something nice, love you" ~C
Not knowing what was going on I hit the call button "I had a feeling you'd call" Callie says laughing.
"why do we need to be at city hall at 4?" I ask still confused
"they're finally doing it"
"who is doing what?" I'm confused although lately it doesn't take much, I hear Callie laugh "Sofia and Mark" she laughs
"what are they doing?" I still wasn't understanding, I hear my wife laugh again then say "god I love you"
"hmm" I hum then mumble "I love you too" there's a moment of silence "what are they doing?" I ask
"getting married"
"oh" I say not knowing what else to say, then it clicked "wow, it's about time" I laugh they had put off the wedding for so long, I had thought they changed their minds. "right" Callie says, I hear a door shut, and she lets out a sigh. "switch to video?" she asks. I didn't say anything just pulled the phone away from my ear and hit the video button, my heart almost stops when my gorgeous wife comes on the screen. I must have had a retarded look on my face because Callie laughs "what?" I ask confused again.
"what's with that look?"
"oh, um" busted, I laugh "you just look" I haven't seen her in scrubs in so long, I forgot how sexy they were. I know, I know, how can a pair of scrubs make someone look sexy, but when it came to Calliope, anything she wore looked sexy, and that even got better as the years wore on. She laughs "where's my granddaughter?"
"sleeping" I say
"let me see" she says, I nod and stand, making my way into the living room to my surprise she was awake and playing quietly with her toys. "I lied" I laugh and turn the phone around so Callie can see "oh, hi honey" Callie coos. I see Sammi's face light up, at hearing Callie's voice, looking around for her "she's on the phone baby" I lean down and put the phone in front of her, she saw Callie's face and let out a loud giggle "how's gramma's girl?" she babbled something and held up the toy she had in her hands "she seems happy today" Callie said.
"well she just woke up, so we'll see" I shrug, my heart skips a beat when I see Callie's smile. How can I be so in love with this woman? The sound of a pager blaring comes through the phone, I hear Callie let out a groan "I have to go baby"
"I figured" I smile then turn the phone back towards Sammi and hear Callie say her good byes to the mini version of our daughter "Arizona" I hear her say, turning the phone back towards myself "hmm?"
"I love you" she says in a complete serious tone "never forget that"
"I won't, and I love you too" I smile "now go, and break some bones"
"I'm kind of hoping its an easy case"
"good luck" I smile
"thanks, love you" she says again
"love you more" then the phone goes dark, I look down and see the green eyes of my granddaughter staring at me "you need a new butt?" I ask, she smiles and tries to stand, still a little wobbly but she's getting it. She was also working on crawling, although it was more like scooching across the floor, funny to watch with the hardwood. I set my phone on the end table and lean down picking her up. "grandma needs to start working out again" I say as she laughs.

Callie
You ever wonder how you got to the place you are at in life? The page I got while on the phone with Arizona was for a man who had fallen off his roof, luckily it won't take much to fix his leg, but some how it got me thinking. Don't get me wrong I love my life, I love my wife, and our daughters, and their partners, and I am completely in love with my granddaughter. But right now as I'm repairing this guys leg, my thoughts or on where would I be if Arizona wouldn't have kissed me in that dirty bar bathroom all those years ago. I know we still would have met, both working at the hospital, but would we have gotten together? It's not the first time I've had these thoughts, but today they feel different. How could someone like me, an edgy, dark, ortho goddess, have fallen in love with the perky, roller skate wearing PEDS surgeon. I take a deep breath and lean back to crack my neck, and back. "you good Robbins?" Bailey asked
"hmm" I hum and nod "just a little stiff" I felt my neck pop and let out a groan of relief. I hear Bailey let out a sigh or something, I wasn't even sure why she was in here. Hearing her sigh again "something up Bailey" I ask not taking my eyes off my work.
"no" she says, then after a few moments of silence she says "Sofia and Mark are finally doing it today huh?" there it is I smile under my mask "yes"
"is everyone invited?"
"I" I start to say, looking up at my friend "I honestly don't know, it's their thing" meeting her eyes I see disappointment in them. And come up with an idea "why don't we all meet for dinner tonight" I watch as I see a sparkle come to her eyes. "sounds good, Ben is working, so I'm on my own"
"I'll contact everyone once I'm done here" I see her nod and I go back to work fixing this leg.

Sofia
Work, the mundane tasks of being an adult. Although I loved my job, and I missed it while I was off, I was ready to be done and home with my mini me. Thank god I have a good sitter otherwise I don't think I could have came back to work. Although I know from personal experience that the hospital daycare is great, I just wasn't ready to leave my baby there yet. So when mom said she'd keep Samantha while Mark and I worked I was excited. Who better to watch her than the person that raised me? Mark and I had decided, just today actually, that since we both got off work early, that we'd take a trip to city hall and finally make it official and get married. One would think I'd be nervous, but I'm not, it was just a small gathering, I remember when my moms did it. We would have something bigger later, or maybe just a party, who knows. Our back yard seems fitting for a party, I laugh to myself at that thought, every party has always been in our back yard. That house was my home, it's where Steph, Zola and I grew up, and to be able to have my daughter, and my soon to be niece and nephew grow up there. Oh shit, did I say that out loud? I look around and laugh, no, thank god, these are all just my thoughts. Steph and Zola didn't want to know the sexes of the babies, but I snuck a peak at the ultrasound, and am trying my hardest to keep it to myself. But it's hard, I'm so excited about it. "hey Sof" I hear my best friend turned sister in law say "what are you doing?" I look up from the iPad I had in my hands, "oh nothing just signing some charts for momma" I clear my throat "I mean Dr. Robbins" Zola and I both laugh. She had that issue when she worked with Meredith too. "so you're finally doing it?"
"yeah" I smile "today at 4, you'll be there right?"
"of course, like I'd miss my sister getting married" she smiled and winked "besides you stood beside me when I said I do, it's only fair that I'm standing next to you" she hip checks me and winks. We both laugh. Zola had been my best friend for as long as I can remember, for awhile she was my only friend. "I should call and see if Steph will bring me something decent to wear, I'm sure you don't want me showing up in scrubs"
"wouldn't matter to me" I smile "Mark and I had actually thought about going in our scrubs"
"at least we'd all match" she laughs
"true" I smile "so who's service are you on today?"
"my mom's" Zola rolls her eyes "but right now she's in surgery, and well" she shrugs
"so you got time for coffee? With your sister?" I ask
"always" she smiles, I hand the iPad I had to a nurse and we link arms, like we've always done. We make our way to our favorite coffee cart, laughing when we didn't even have to say anything. The man knows us, he smiles as I had him the money. Then we're off again, to the cafeteria, because it was closer than going to the residence lounge. Sometimes we'd sneak into the attendings lounge but again the cafeteria was closer. We sit down, and I let out a moan "almost as good as mom's"
"almost" Zola smiles "it's a tough choice between who's is better"
"hmm" I hum taking another sip "so, have you guys picked out names?" Zola laughs "if your sister would let us know the sexes, it'd be easier, but we have some picked out" I bite my tongue, and pick up my cup to cover my mouth, I wasn't able to hide the smile, clearing my throat I set my cup down "so"
"oh" Zola laughed "Oliver, for a boy and Olivia, for a girl" I smile "what if they are 2 boys? Or girls?" I ask
"oh" she laughs and shrugs "we'll figure that out when the time comes" she says meeting my eyes. Shit look away, I dart my eyes to my cup. Steph and Zola could always tell when I was hiding something or lying. It was a good but bad thing "Sof" she says playfully
"hmm?" I say not meeting her eyes
"do you know the sexes of the babies?" I had to bite my tongue again, but I still didn't make eye contact with her "Sofia" she says
"ugh, fine, yes I do I caught a look at the ultra sound" she smiles then leans closer "tell me"
"no" I shake my head "Steph will kill me"
"nah, we just won't tell her we know" she looks around "do your mom's know?" I shake my head; I hadn't told anyone. She smiles at me, just then both of our pagers sound. We both let out a groan, looking at them we make our way to the pit.

The day went by quick, I had already gotten the baby dressed, in a super cute pink dress, and was working on myself. As Sammi sits in her bouncy thing, babbling, and shoving a toy in her mouth, I catch a glimpse of her in the mirror. She looked so much like Sofia did at that age, and of course Sofia looked like Callie. When Sammi's eyes met mine, she held out the toy she was chewing on, offering it to me "grandma has to finish getting ready" I smiled at her. Who would have thought, all those years ago when I walked into that bathroom, my whole world would change? Yeah, we've been through hell and back, a few different times, but here we are today, Callie is my wife, and we have two daughters, and in a few more months we'll have 3 grandchildren. I let out a groan, and Sammi babble something, as if to ask me what's wrong "I wish I knew what your cousins will be" I shake my head, take one more look in the mirror, smile, then lean down picking up the bouncy seat, with Sammi in it and head out into the living room. Hearing my phone ping, letting me know it's time to leave, reaching for it I smile reading a text from my wife, it didn't say much, just a quick I love you and see you soon. I reply, then grab my purse, shoving my phone in there, I unbuckle my granddaughter, grabbing her diaper bag, and head out the door. My baby was getting married today. And I was excited.

I was out on an assignment; Jenn and I were setting up to get the best shot of the Sound. "move to the right" I hear Jenn say and we both laugh "honestly does it really matter, from any angle it's going to look the same" I let out a groan.
"I personally don't think so, but you know how Carrie is" she pauses, and I finish in a mocking tone "the shot has to be perfect or we can't use it" we both start laughing.
"that was actually perfect"
"I know I've been practicing" I laugh hearing my phone go off with my sister's tone "ope, hold on" I reach into my pocket, pulling out my phone seeing the message from Sofia "city hall 4pm, we're finally doing it" ~Sof
"it's about time, I'll be there" ~Steph
"thanks sissy love you" ~Sof
"love you too" ~Steph. Smiling I put my phone back into my pocket, only to pull it back out to look at the time "I have to be done by 3" I say to my best friend
"um" Jenn looks around
"Sofia and Mark are finally getting married today"
"well then" she smiles "we better get to finding the perfect shot"
"I think we should get the ferry in it, and the sun reflecting off it" I no more then said the words when a rumble of thunder was heard in the distance. Jenn lets out a groan, grabbing my camera from me, she lines it up and just starts snapping. Then hands it back to me "one of those will have to do, come on, before we get soaked" she grabs my arm and leads me back to the car. As I shut the door it starts down pouring "gotta love Seattle" she laughs
"I do actually" I smile, and rub my belly
"why are we the ones doing this anyway?" she asked
"I don't know, I thought it'd be nice to get out of the office" I shrug
"well it was" she smiles, looking over at me "lunch?"
"god yes" she laughs and starts the car. Driving us to a small diner, the rain hadn't let up at all, as she puts the car in park. Looking out the window "we'll have to run for it" she looks over at me "think you can do it?"
"I will try my best" I smile being 6 months pregnant, with twins, I was huge and starting to waddle. "alright Daffy, let's go" she laughs and opens her door, I follow her lead and we make a mad dash through the rain. Of course, she was quicker than me, but she held the door open, I wasn't that wet. Smiling at the waitress who greeted us, Jenn asked for a table for 2. Looking around I see the sign for the bathroom "hey I'll be right back, gotta" I nod towards the sign, she smiles and nods. In the bathroom, I was surprised at how clean it was. I do my business quickly and head back out. Finding Jenn at the table smiling at her phone. It wasn't just any smile; it was the I'm happily in love smile. Sitting down, reaching for the menu "so"
"so" Jenn says putting her phone down on the table, we make eye contact, and her smile gets bigger "how are things going with Clara?"
"why? Has she said anything?" she asks nervously
"um, not that I know of" I laugh "she's my mom's friend not mine"
"oh right" I see her relax, and smile it's been awhile since they've been talking, or whatever they are doing. "things are good, really good" Jenn says out of nowhere, I look up and she meets my eyes "I think" she starts to say, I hear her the tremble in her voice "I think I'm in love"
"good" I smile
"yeah good" she says, the waitress came to take our order, I ended up ordering way too much food but the babies were hungry. My phone pings with a message, looking down at it I see it's a message from momma "dinner after to celebrate" ~Cal
"celebrate what?" ~Steph I decide to play dumb
"please tell me your sister contacted you?" ~Cal
"why?" ~Steph. I let out a giggle, and set my phone on the table "what's so funny" Jenn asks
"I love messing with momma" my phone goes off again "Stephanie, I know you and Sofia are close, so I know she must have told you what's going on today" ~Cal
"hmm" I hum, trying to find a smart ass reply to that. I must have been taking too long to reply when my phone started vibrating, with momma's ringtone. I laugh and reach for it "hi momma" I smile
"Sofia has contacted you right?" came through the phone, I look at Jenn who is looking at me confused, I smile "yes momma she text me"
"good" I hear her take a deep breath "so you'll be there at 4?"
"of course, how could I miss my little sister finally tying the knot"
"ok" she says I hear tell tail signs in the background making me know she's at work "we're having dinner after with everyone to celebrate"
"sounds good" the waitress has shown up with our food "thank you" I smile
"why are you thanking me?"
"I wasn't thanking you, Jenn and I were out on assignment, and are having lunch, so I was" I stop "never mind" I laugh, I hear her laughing through the phone "alright, I'll see you at 4?"
"alright momma, I'll see you at 4" I laugh
"love you kiddo"
"love you too momma" I pull the phone away from my ear and hit the end button setting it on the table. "I love how you and your moms are"
"why" I smile I loved it too, it was even better before everything happened, then Sofia got knocked up, and well here I am. "it's just awesome, I wish I had that kind of relationship with my parents, I mean it's like they are your best friends not your parents"
"it wasn't always like that, but now that Sof and I are big" I laugh at my choice of wording
"you certainly are big" she looks at me and I rub my belly, and we both laugh. "so you aren't finding out the sexes?"
"no" I shake my head and pick up my burger to take a bite "I would rather be surprised, although, I'm starting to change my mind" I smile
"you have any names picked out?" she asked keeping the talk going as we eat.
"Olivia Alexandra, for a girl and Oliver Richard, for a boy"
"love it" she says I was waiting for the next question "Alexandra?" she asks, I let out a laugh and nod, wiping my mouth "after Zo's aunt, who died in the plane crash"
"the same one Sofia's dad died in?" she asked, I nod "and how mom lost her leg"
"I forget she only has one leg"
"I know me too, until she takes it off" I laugh "Lexie and Mark were actually together"
"together?" she looks at me confused
"yeah, well maybe not together but from the stories I have heard they were the love of each other's life" I shrug
"and they died together?"
"yeah" I look up meeting her eyes
"that's so sweet"
"I guess so, if you think dying is sweet" I shrug
"well think about it, if Zola died" she starts to say "I'd want to be with her" I cut her off, we laugh "I guess it is sweet"
"see told you" she smiles "now eat up, we have to get back to the office, hopefully we got something good to use"
"I have to run home and change" I roll my eyes "you know, before I go witness my sister finally make the commitment she's been putting off" we share a laugh and finish our lunch.

I had opened the door, to find Steph rushing in. "hi mom" she says trying her best to move past me. "if you wait a few minutes, I'll ride with you"
"ok, but be quick" I call after her looking outside I see it was raining, and from the looks of it had been for awhile, I let out a groan and hear Sammi babble something "raining again" I set the carrier she was in on the coffee table and sit down on the couch, she reaches her hand out, offering me the toy she had just had in her mouth "no you keep that" I push her hand back towards her and I hear her babble something that sounds like "nana"
"what?" I smile, looking at her "did you just say nana?" she smiles and then spits up "must of just been gas" she lets out a laugh. I reach for a towel and clean her up "just think in a few more months you'll have 2 more" Steph says behind me
"I can't wait" I turn towards her
"I don't have any super dressy clothes that fit me right now so this will have to do" she says shrugging
"it's good" I smile "you ready?"
"I am" she smiles, I stand and reach for Sammi and I hear it again, something that sounds a lot like nana "did, did she just say nana?" Steph asks
"I don't know" I laugh "she said it a few minutes ago but then spit up"
"sounded like nana to me" Steph laughs and pokes her head in "say auntie" Sammi smiles and laughed seeing Steph "yeah it's auntie Steph, now say auntie" Sammi babbled something and shoved her toy in Steph's face "eww, its wet" she laughs and pulls away
"just wait, you'll have two" I laugh and make my way to the door.

Sofia
Rushing into the residence lounge, I had just enough time to change, or Mark and I would really be getting married in scrubs. I find Mark and Zola both in there "cutting it kinda close" Mark laughs
"yeah, just give me a minute and I'll be ready" I say rushing to my locker, pulling out the clothes I shake my head and let out a groan "babe, whatever you wore today is fine, it's not like we're having a fancy wedding" he laughs, he knows me too well, I reach to pull my scrub top off, not caring who walked in, not to mention the fact that my soon to be husband and best friend turned sister were there. They didn't seem to mind as they kept up with the small talk. Luckily the shirt I had wore today was a little dressy, a button down one I think I stole from mom a while back. Looking at myself in the mirror I look down and see the jeans I was wearing were faded and ripped. "it's fine Sof, we gotta go" Mark says meeting my eyes in the mirror.
"you'll just have to make sure any pictures that are taken are taken of the top half of you" Zola laughs, I just shook my head and reach in my locker for my purse. Letting out a sigh "alright let's go" I see them both nod and we head out. Once outside the residence lounge, there's a crowd of people, Zola and I laugh, it was our cheering squad. Mark grabs my hand, and we smile, I heard a lot of "it's about time, and congratulations" Mark and I smile our thank you and make our way to the elevator. We made it to the lobby where momma is waiting. Talking to Meredith, I was surprised she wasn't waiting outside the lounge with the rest of the group. Momma looks towards the three of us meeting my eyes she smiles, "you guys ready?"
"yes" I say holding onto Mark's hand a little tighter, I was ready, I was just nervous.
"well come on, let's go get you hitched" she winks
"you just want to see mom" I smile back at her
"can you blame me" her smile got bigger, if that was possible. I loved how much she loved mom, and mom loved her. I often gave them shit about it, but I loved it. I feel Mark squeeze my hand, and I find myself hoping I have found a love like that. A love that will last, through shootings, car accidents, plane crashes, a divorce and an earthquake. I was so lost in my thoughts I didn't realize I had gotten in the car, and we were now parked outside the city hall. Shaking my head I look around the car, it was momma's car, Mark and I were in the backseat with Zola in the front. Letting out a little laugh, I meet momma's eyes in the mirror, and we both smile. All four of us jump when there's a knock on the window, momma rolls hers down. And smiles, mom and Steph were standing there, with my baby girl in her carrier. "come on let's get inside before it starts to rain again" mom says, not taking her eyes off momma. As we exit the car, I watch as momma takes mom in her arms, kissing her. I want to make some sort of comment, but my brain isn't working quite right at the moment. But I hear my sister chime in "eww get a room"
"we have one, back at the house" momma says, Steph shakes her head and walks toward me with Samantha, looking down at my daughter, who has a toy shoved in her mouth I smile. "how's mommy's girl, were you good for grandma" she pulls the toy out of her mouth and babbles something that sounds a lot like "nana" smiling "did she just say nana?"
"well" mom laughs "I'm not quite sure, but it sure sounds like it"
"auntie" Steph says leaning over but Sammi just shoved the wet toy in her face. Causing me to laugh when Steph said "eww" and wiped her face.
"alright" momma's voice was heard "let's go" she grabbed mom's hand, as Mark grabbed the carrier, Steph and Zola are holding hands, so I grab Mark's free one. He smiles at me and we make our way inside. Just as the glass door shut, it started to down pour. "you know they say rain on your wedding day is a good thing" mom says causing the group to laugh.

It seems like forever since Mark had asked for our permission to ask Sofia to marry him. And the fact that we are finally here, doing it, makes me want to cry. It was quick, just like Callie's and mine was, just a quick "I do" and the signing of papers. Steph and Zola both stepped in as the witnesses, it hadn't even been ten minutes and we were headed back out. Stopping in the doorway as the rain came down in sheets, and the thunder boomed, causing Sammi to cry. "shh baby girl, you're alright" Sofia says
"why don't I go pull the car up" Callie suggests
"Calliope you'll get soaked"
"so" she looks at me and shrugs "if I don't do that we aren't leaving anytime soon" she looks at her watch. "but we do have time"
"time?" Sofia asks
"yeah" she smiles at our newly married daughter "Bailey was upset she was missing the wedding so I decided we'd meet everyone for dinner" I watched as Sofia looked at Mark who smiled and said "I think that's a great idea" then kissed Sofia's cheek. Awe to be young and in love, I look over at Callie who is smiling too. Our eyes meet, and she winks at me. I can feel the butterflies start to flutter in my stomach. Or old and in love. "Arizona, give me your keys and Callie and I can go grab the cars" Mark says. I fish around in my bag producing my keys handing them to him. "alright stay here" Callie says kissing my cheek, Mark does the same to Sofia, and they make a mad dash for the parking lot. "it'd be funny if one of them fell" Zola says causing us all to laugh.
"hopefully not momma" Steph says "she's got enough problems with her legs"
"true that" Sofia says, as we all laugh, along with Sammi.
"I hope they hurry, I have to pee" Steph says, I look at her and she's starting to do the potty dance. Laughing "there's a bathroom just inside the doors, go"
"oh thank god" she says running off, I let out a giggle at her waddle
"she's been peeing a lot" Zola laughs
"I really wish you two would find out the sexes" I say shaking my head, I was super excited to find out. "we already know" Sofia says
"Sof" Zola says shutting her up
"what?" I say looking at my daughter "you know"
"I'm not supposed to know, I accidently saw the ultrasound and I'm a doctor so" she shrugged
"and she told me, but Steph doesn't know we know" Zola said looking back to make sure her wife wasn't coming.
"well now you need to tell me" I say looking at the two of them
"nope" Zola says shutting her mouth and zipping it
"why" I whine stomping my foot
"you're little pout thing isn't going to work on me" Sofia laughs "I'm not momma"
"but come on, I need to know" I whine some more
"need to know what?" Steph asks coming back into the entry way, luckily Callie and Mark had just pulled up outside. Saving me from having to explain, at least right now. "come on" I say, pushing the door open, there was an awning that went out to the curb, so we wouldn't get too wet as we loaded the car. Since Mark had my car I sent Sofia with him, and Sammi, and Zola and Steph rode with Callie and I. Callie's phone starts ringing through the speakers "what's up Mark" she says after hitting the button.
"I was just wondering what the plan was"
"oh" Callie laughs I look at the clock and see its barely 5. "dinner isn't until 7"
"so" Marks voice came through the car, I watch Callie shrug "Mark just head home, we'll meet you there" I say
"sounds good see you there" he says then hangs up, as Callie pulls the car away from the curb and we head towards home.

Callie
Now both my girls were married, I'm one proud momma right now. Looking around the room, after talking to Bailey earlier I had decided to call and reserve the back room at our favorite restaurant, it was packed. Both Sofia and Mark were loved at the hospital, and Arizona and I couldn't be more proud. "you know" Arizona says leaning into me.
"I know a lot of things" I wink, then lean in to kiss her cheek
"I was going to say" she says turning to look at me, those eyes, still the same blue I fell in love with all those years ago, I smile "I'm surprised we didn't fuck her up"
"who? Sof?" I ask, already knowing what she was getting at but I felt like playing dumb.
"yes Sof, who else" she laughs "I mean think about it" she says. I shake my head and smile, I really didn't want to think about it, we've come a long way, and I just, I couldn't think about it. "she turned out pretty amazing" I say
"hmm" Arizona hums and lays her head on my shoulder. I hear the sound of someone clinking their glass with a fork. I look up and see Meredith standing up, "I just want to say Sofia, you may not be my niece by blood, but I hope you know I love you the same, and am truly happy you found your person"
"I thought I was your person" Zola says looking at Sofia, who smiled and shrugged
"you have her" Meredith says pointing at Steph who was sitting, what looked like very uncomfortably next to Zola.
"oh right" Zola laughs then kissed Steph's cheek, I'm pretty sure I saw her whisper an I love you to her but I couldn't be sure.
"what was I saying?" Meredith asked turning her attention back to the group "oh right, I know I wasn't invited to be apart of the ceremony" she gave that Meredith Grey look and I saw Sofia cringe, then laugh. "it's ok I understand, no one was there when Derek and I got married" she smiled "I just want to say congratulations to you and Mark both, and Mark, welcome to the family, officially" she held up her glass. Arizona moved off me reaching for her glass of wine, as everyone in the room does the same. Even Sammi, with her bottle "to Mark and Sofia" Meredith says, and we drink.
"my mom stole my speech" Zola pouted
"oh get over it" Meredith laughs
"but I'm the maid of honor" she sat back in her chair pouting.
"I thought I was" Steph said looking at Sofia, causing everyone to laugh
"does it really matter, you both were there, and signed the papers with us" Mark says, I laugh as both Zola and Steph turn to him with that look "ok I'll shut up now" he cowers back in his chair.
"that's right, good boy" Meredith laughs
"you should know by now, as the only guy in this family, when to keep your mouth shut" Arizona laughs
"not for long" Zola says, I see Arizona's ear perk up "what?" she says looking over at our daughter in law.
"what?" she says not meeting Arizona's eyes
"you said, not for long? What does that mean?"
"I may have had too much to drink" Zola says picking up her glass trying cover her slip up.
"now I want to know" Steph says looking at her "do you know the sex of our children?"
"well um" Zola says clearing uncomfortable, I lean into Arizona and whisper "she knows doesn't she?" Arizona nods then turns her head "Sofia saw the ultrasound"
"so you know?" I asked, getting a little irritated she hadn't told me
"no" she shakes her head "I don't know"
"we decided we didn't want to know" Steph says shaking her head and moving farther away from Zola
"hey don't blame me, blame Dr. Quin over there" she pointed to Sofia
"what'd I do?" Sofia asked. Steph let out a growl "I said I didn't want to know the sex of our babies, how do you know?" wow pregnancy was not good on her "relax, Steph, I accidently saw the ultrasound, it's ok"
"no it's not ok" she lets out another growl "I didn't want to know, but now everyone but me knows"
"Stephanie" Arizona says reaching for her hand to try and calm her down "no mom, I'm pissed, and I feel I have every right to be"
"I agree but"
"but what?"
"Stephanie you need to calm down, the babies" Clara says, I didn't even know she was here, "and I don't really want to go back in to work"
"how does everyone know the sex of my babies but me"
"everyone doesn't know" I say finally "your mom and I don't know"
"I want to know" Arizona says, she gets that look from Steph "but I don't know"
"Steph" Jenn says, I was surprised she was there too, but than again I knew she and Clara were a thing now. I couldn't hear what Jenn said to her, but it seemed to calm her down. "alright, alright, just fucking tell me" she says looking at Zola, it was clear there'd be a fight later. Zola turns to look at Sofia "this is all your fault"
"yeah" Sofia laughed and shrugged her shoulders "sissy do you really want to know"
"everyone else knows, so I might as well" Steph scoffs.
"alright" Sofia says "you're having one of each"
"one of each" Steph says, Sofia nods "so a boy and a girl?" she looks over at Zola who nods "we're having a boy and a girl" she says again, Zola nodded again "oh my god that's awesome" she smiles then wraps her arms around Zola kissing her hard.
"yay" Arizona says kissing my cheek "I'm so excited, now we can go shopping" she was jumping up and down in her chair. I just shook my head, and smiled, I was excited too. Letting out a laugh, why does dinner with this group always turn into a 10 act play. Sammi banged her cup on the table, getting everyone's attention then started babbling something "momma"
"did she just" Sofia says looking at Mark, as Sammi babbled away "momma, nana, momma"
"is that the first?" Meredith ask
"no, her first word was nana" Arizona smiles proudly
"mom" Sofia laugh "when did she say that?"
"earlier, you heard her"
"oh right" Sofia laughed
"auntie, say auntie" Steph said leaning in
"momma, nana" Sammi said and some more babbles no one could make out, she then shoves her cup in Steph's face. "at least it wasn't a wet stuffed animal again" Steph laughs, then sits back in her chair. I sit back in mine, I feel Arizona place her hand on my leg. To think we are all together today because of us. Me and Arizona, I couldn't help but smile. It all started 30 some years ago, when a new blonde doctor walked into a dirty bar bathroom and kissed me. I lean over kissing Arizona's cheek "I love you"
"I love you more" she says turning her head, we share a smile, I lean in and place a soft but meaningful kiss on her lips. "not possible" so not possible…..
