Chapter 5: New Friends

The next morning, Mumble and I was woken when we felt something push us slightly.

"What was that?" I asked. "Probably just someone from our group trying to scare us," Mumble said. "Oh," I said. "Okay, fellas. Cut it out." Mumble said. We felt another push.

"I'm completely terrified," Mumble said sarcasticly. "Stop trying to scare us, Glimmer. It's not gonna work this time." I said. "Uh, Gloria?" Mumble asked. "Guys?" Mumble called. "Cato? Glimmer?" I called. "Get up here or I'll come in after ya," Mumble said. Suddenly, a sea lion jumped up after us. Mumble and I screamed as we jumped into the water with the sea lion chasing us. We swam in the water, jumping up and down trying to avoid the sea lion.

Mumble and I slid on some ice. The sea lion continued chasing us as we kept sliding on the ice. Suddenly, the sea lion broke through the ice. The sea lion hit us with his tail, causing us to fall back into the water. Mumble and I quietly snuck up behind the sea lion. He growled and chased us. He kept chasing us as we swam frantically through the water. The sea lion grabbed Mumble's tail feathers and grabbed me by my foot. Thankfully we were let go and thankfully my foot was still on my leg when we got free. We continued swimming through the water, going through a small tunnel, then kept swimming through the open water. Mumble and I swam up some icicles. We jumped out of the water, with the sea lion's mouth nearly missing us by a second. We landed back down on the ice.

We landed back down next to some smaller penguins who were all boys.

"Safe!" Ramon shouted. "Oh, yeah!" Rilando said. "You guys the bomb, bro," Ramon said. "That's a 9.8," Lombardo said. "I give you 10," Raul said. "Why?" Ramon asked. We screamed when the sea lion came up at us.

"Oh, no, no, no. Come on. Bring it. Bring it on." Ramon said. "Kiss my frozen tushy. Kiss it. Kiss it." Ramon said. I laughed. The sea lion slammed his face into the ice. "Come here, sausage. I take you with ketchup." The sea lion said. "But first you got to catch up," Ramon said jokingly. "Oh, here he comes. You better move in a half an hour." Ramon said. We all walked slowly. "Let's get out of here." We all said slowly. The sea lion tried to chase us. Mumble did his little tap dance.

"Hey, amigo, do that again," Ramon said. "Do what?" Mumble asked. "That thing with the-the clickity-clackity," Ramon said. "Come on, come on," Raul said. "Well, I just kind of go:" Mumble said. Mumble did his tap dance again. "And then this:" Mumble said, showing his tap dance again. They followed Mumble's moves, and so did I. It was kind of fun.

"Woah! Way to go! It's amazing!" Ramon shouted. We laughed when the sea lion hit his face into the ice. "Ouchie." The sea lion said. "Oh, the little whisker," Ramon said. "Look at him," Raul said. "Oh, he's leaving! Oh, no, that was his face!" Ramon shouted. We all laughed. "Remember dumplings, I know where you live." The sea lion said. "Yeah, it's called land, lar-face," Raul said. "Drop back any time, rubber-butt!" Nestor called. "We'll take you on when we come back, asshole!" I yelled.

"See you, fatty!" Mumble called. "That's cool. See you fatty!" Ramon called. "Did it take you a while to come up with that one?" Lombardo asked. "All right, way to go, tall guy," Ramon said. "Give me fin, give me fin," Lombardo said. Mumble and I looked at the sea lion who was going away. Ramon turned to us.

"Oi! Ain't you coming tall boy and tall human?" Ramon called. "Um..." Mumble started. "What? You got something better to do?" Ramon said. "No," Mumble answered. "Well, then, come along fluffy, let's go," Ramon said. "You mean we can hang out with you?" I asked. "Yeah, sure," Ramon said. About an hour later, Ramon took us too his home called Adelie land.

"Hey, stretch, you like to party?" Ramon asked. "Party? I guess so." Mumble said. "Well, stick with us, baby," Lombardo said. "Yeah 'cause we practically own the action here," Nestor said. "Mambo!" Everyone in the village shouted. "Everybody's so spontaneous," Mumble said. "Spontaneous," Ramon said. "Si. And these are bad times." Raul said. "Yeah, our food chain gone loco," Lombardo said. "Everyone a bit down," Rinaldo said. "But it ain't gonna stop no party," Ramon said. Everyone whooped. "Viva la party!" Lombardo shouted. "Watch me work," Nestor said.

"Gosh, he's eating rocks," Mumble said when he saw a penguin biting a rock in his mouth. "You hear what he said? Eating rocks!" Ramon shouted. "But he had a rock in his mouth," Mumble said. "There's no rock, hombre. It's love stone." Lombardo explained. "For building the nests," Raul said. "The one with the most pebbles wins," Lombardo said. "Your not interested in chicas?" Mumble asked.

"Hey, hey, hey. You kidding? Without us, the chicas go no boom." Ramon said. "Why aren't you collecting pebbles?" Mumble asked. "Yeah, don't you like to compete?" I asked. "Pebbles, schmebbles." Rilando said. "We got personality with a capitol Y. Why? Because we're hot. Watch and learn, tall boy and human girl." Ramon said with a laugh. "Hey, hey, baby," Ramon said. "Over here, mama," Nestor said. "Chicky baby, what are you looking at?" A female penguin said.

"You looking at me? Come over here, baby. Come on mami!" Lombardo called. "You see something you like, yes?" Rinlando said. "I don't think so. Not tonight, baby." The female said. "Oh, don't be so snooly body," Ramon said. They all laughed. "You like it, I want it, I got it. Look at the feet." Ramon sang as he did Mumbles tap dancing moves.

"Where you learn that?" The female asked. "The big guy and his sister. They're from out of town. They with us." Ramon told them. "Do it, baby. Show me those flipping feet." The female said. The girls with her laughed.

"No, no, no. Sorry girls. Some other time maybe." Lombardo said. "Ay ya ya. You guys are soft in the head, okay?" The female said. "Let's go." She said. With that, they left.

"Leave 'em wanting more, you know?" Ramon said. "Hold them back till the season," Rilando said. "You show them what you got either you got it or not," Ramon said. "And the Amigos?" Raul said. "We got it!" They all shouted. "Uh, you think I could get some of it?" Mumble asked. "Me too?" I asked. "Hombre, sis, you've got so much already. You dangerous baby." Raul said.

"You really think so?" Mumble said. "You kidding? With moves like yours, you must have all the ladies drooling at your feet." Lombardo said. "Uh, I wouldn't say that," Mumble said. "Oh, listen to him. He's so cute." Lombardo said. "Let me tell something to you. Expect for me, tall boy. You got the most charisma of anybody." Ramon said. "Put that ego away, Ramon. You're gonna hurt someone." Nestor said. "You're so jealous. Just a moment. I hear people wanting something. Me!" Ramon shouted. Everyone laughed. Everyone began singing and I joined in.

"Mambo!" We all shouted.

Later, the amigos and I were dancing on top of a high cliff. As Mumble was tap dancing on the edge of the cliff, he jumped up and the snow broke, causing him to fall.

"Woah!" Mumble cried. "Mumble?" I called. Mumble was fine though because he seemed to be having the time of his life, sliding down the cliff on a sheet of snow.

"Man, this guy is so accidentally cool," Nestor said. The penguins and I jumped off of the cliff, sliding down and shouting.

"Okay, okay. Mama!" Ramon yelled as he jumped off the cliff. We all screamed as we slid down the ice. "Woah!" Mumble cried as he did a couple of flips and continued sliding down the ice. We continued to scream and laugh, having fun as we were sliding. This ride felt like a rollercoaster. We all jumped up and continued sliding down. We jumped up again. Ramon slid in front of us on a sheet of ice. We all laughed.

"Yee haw!" Ramon cried. He ducked but hit a wall of ice. We laughed as we slid under the ice.

"Come on, fluffy," Ramon said. We got out of the ice cave, and our sliding slowed down. "Oh, I love this gravity," Nestor said. "Oh, I feel like reminiscing," Rinlando said. "Reminiscing?" Nestor said. We all screamed as we began sliding down a cliff and straight into the ice cave. We got into the ice cave and did a nice few slides until we came out again, sliding straight down on the snow, where an avalanche began chasing after us. We screamed and laughed as the snow collapsed, shot us straight into the water. I swam and followed the amigos through the water. I jumped out of the water, followed by the amigos and Mumble.

"That was too close. Come on, come on!" Ramon shouted. "Hey, guys! Where are we going?" Mumble called as he jumped out of the water. "We? Relocating." Lombardo said. "Placing ourselves elsewhere," Raul said. "But that thing, what was it?" Mumble asked. "How should we know? We're penguins. Very little penguins." Nestor said. "But where did it come from? It's so weird. So alien." Mumble said.

"What's he talking about?" Raul asked. "What's he talking about?" Nestor asked. "I don't know, some guy named eline." Ramon said. "I don't know a guy Elian," Nestor said. "I knew a guy named Estevan." Ramon said. "Not Estevan. He said Elian." Lombardo said. "Guys, we have a mystery here. A mind-boggling mystery. "So? What are we supposed to do about it?" Ramon said. "Amigos, we gotta get to the bottom of this thing," Mumble said.

"Big guy, let me tell something to you. Come close. Don't be afraid. You want answers?" Ramon said. "Yeah," Mumble said. "That's all you need?" Ramon said. "Yeah," Mumble said again. "Nothing else," Ramon said. "No," Mumble said. "Then this is very easy. You go see Lovelace." Ramon said. "Ah! Lovelace!" Everyone shouted. "Go see Lovelace," Raul said. "Genius, Ramon. You are the man." Raul said. "Thank you," Ramon said. "I take a moment for myself. Let's go." Ramon said. "Bow, bow, bow down. You the man." Lombardo said. "That's enough, I feel your love," Ramon said.

"Who's Lovelace?" Mumble asked. "Lovelace is the grue." Raul said. "Go see Lovelace. He got the answer to everything. Everything." Ramon said. "Really?" Mumble said. "Ask him, he's never wrong. Never. But first, you're gonna need a pebble." Ramon said.

With that, we went to find a pebble and go see Lovelace.
