The sand planet in the outer rim, Tatooine. A desert world home to two bright suns in the sky and dunes of sand. A place where the Republic does not have jurisdiction and because of this the planet is lawless and illegal practices run amuck.
A boy wakes up in the sand, his eyes opening slowly before he slowly sits up. A veil of sand once draped over his body falls off. He still feels the effects of sleep before immediately feeling dread and confusion, hadn't he, well,... just died? He looks around and his breathing quickens. All he sees are heaps of sand and a starry night sky. His eyes drift next to him and he notices a cloaked body laying down, he startles, scattering away from the body, and tries to wrap his head around what is going on. His thoughts scramble never fully forming before jumping to another, mostly consisting of "How?, What? Where?, Why?". Now breathing a lot more loudly, his eyes drift down to his hands. Once covered in blood were now covered in particles of sand and much smaller(?)
"What-What the fuck is going on?" He whisper-yells slightly louder than he intended, breathing harshly.
The body next to him shuffles and grumbles, "god damn.. keep it down" their head slightly digging deeper into the sand.
The body jolts sitting up so fast it almost looked like a blur, "HOLY SHIT!" they yell.
The brown cloak slightly falls off of them revealing wisps of auburn hair. Like the boy, their thoughts quickly scramble before dawning on a conclusion. They open their mouth, slightly agape loudly saying, "Dude I just fucking died, I just took the L."
Both of them look at each other with slight recognition evident in their eyes, "Omar?"-"Summer?"
Summer's eyes widened, "I can't believe it! We just fucking died! Rip BOZO!" she laughs in a sobbing way and startles Omar before flopping back onto the sand.
Omar stares, slightly still in shock. He tries to form words but is still in disbelief. It dawns upon them both, they had just died. This meant no more Rainbow 6 Siege, no more Fortnite, no more Naruto, no Marvel, no Star Wars. Hell, they would never see their families again. A melancholic feeling struck them both, a sorrowful feeling that wasn't enough to make them cry but enough to make them feel like they had a hole in their stomachs.
Summer laughs loudly out of breath before calming down and letting out a loud sigh and her eyes drift to Omar, "I can't believe it. Do you think we actually died and this is heaven?"
Omar frowns, "If this is the afterlife I would like to have some words with Allah."
"Why the hell would we be kids again in the afterlife?" She sits up and gestures to their appearances, they had both looked like the younger versions of themselves.
"I mean if we died then where the hell are Lynda, Vincent, and Devin?" She says and her eyes search their surroundings but she sees nothing but her, Omar, and sand.
"True.." Omar whispers.
Summer didn't exactly know what to do, but it sorta reminded her of an isekai situation, "...Should we try to find something?"
"I kinda' just want to sit here," Omar says.
"We should look for something... but you're kinda right. I just want to sit here too..."
For about a minute or two they just sit in silence, the sand surrounding them quite cold to the touch and the dim moon lights up the sky.
Summer sighs, "Well...Let's start with the basics. It's nighttime, we are breathing oxygen, we are surrounded by sand so we are likely in a desert, as far as I can tell we look about 10? 12? I don't want to be a fucking kid again! I'm 21 for god's sake I can drink!" She begins rambling off about nonsense.
She stands up, "Throwing this out here we could have somehow time-traveled, seeing as we know, died. Throwing this out here too, it's very possible we traveled the multiverse! I really have no idea, but we should definitely stick together as we journey through this desert."
"Yea." In reality, Omar did not get it; he stopped listening halfway through.
"Whatever, doesn't matter, follow my lead."
Omar reluctantly stands up, "I don't think this is the afterlife you'd probably be in hell."
"WOW. Ok. I see how it is, I'll just leave you here then." Summer states loudly as she begins walking in a random direction.
"No... baby, I'm sorrrrry... I didn't mean it" Omar whines a little fruity-like like, slowly trailing after her.
"Do you see any smoke? Any other light besides the stars?" Summer asks.
"How are we going to see smoke at night?" Omar raises a brow.
Summer shrugs, "Erm... Just open your eyes?"
"Uh-huh.." Omar squints at her, he was starting to doubt following her lead but because he doesn't like taking charge he decides it's for the best anyways.
It was a chilly night but conveniently the bodies they had were adorned with baggy cargo pants, brown tattered cloaks, and tattered brown boots. The cold winds of the sands did not help. They would walk forward until night turns to dusk but they would see nothing but sand. They would hear nothing but wind and each other breathing. Even as they walked for what could have only been a couple of hours without rest and were oddly not as tired as they thought they would have been. They had both been rather unathletic in their lives and Summer was the only one out of the friend group to exercise.
"The sun is rising.." Summer looks towards the light.
Summer stops walking and squints at the sun(s) and she sees something rather odd, "Hey... Omar?"
Omar notices what she had as well, "Why are there two suns."
The effect was immediate in both of them, sheer disbelief.
"You uhhh... Do you know yo-your favorite series? You know, the...the one with the planet with two suns and it's also a desert? Man, what a coincidence that it has the same similarities huh?"
"...Haha what a silly coincidence.." Omar laughs nervously.
Summer rubs the back of her neck, "Yup...D-Do you think?"
"Yea. I think."
"No, no way though right?"
Omar nervously smiles, "Ahaha...No way."
They both stare at the rising sun and a quietness falls over them, both absorbing their situation.
Summer speaks up again, "Omar...IF we are on Tatooine, say, and theoretically, in Star Wars. I vote, we just keep our heads down. I do not want to get human trafficked or worse eaten by one of those scavenger aliens.
"Yea..." Omar responds and because of his height, he spots something in the distance, "Summer...I think I see something."
"what, where?" Summer squints and Omar points forward.
"DUDE. IS THIS A FR OR ON GOD SITUATION?"
"I THINK IT'S BOTH!" Omar cries out.
"AHHH!" Summer cries out too.
Mos Espa is the place where Anakin Skywalker, the protagonist of the first 3 chronological Star Wars movies. A hot city with dome-shaped houses that look like sand igloos. A giant sandy city where slavery and other such practices are legal. Lots of dangerous characters appear in Mos Espa.
Both Omar and Summer were at a loss, this city, a city in Star Wars, was just in front of their eyes. This meant they were on Tatooine and they knew that if they were in the right timeline they would be encountering Anakin, Darth Maul, Padme, Qui-Gon Jinn, and other various characters who had major relevance in the Star Wars plot. The confusion wears off quickly and they instantly begin cranking out ideas.
Summer begins mumbling to herself spewing out her thoughts, "Star Wars universe? Why? How? Urk. Doesn't matter... We gotta find Lynda, Vincent, Devin! They could be in danger, shit this is bad. They could be anywhere in this fucking Galaxy?"
She pauses briefly, "Wait, what if they aren't even in this fucking Galaxy? Shit. OMAR! IDEAS!" and begins pacing around.
"Finding them? Uh. UM. Ok well..." Omar scrambles to find ideas, "I have no clue."
Summer speaks fast, "OK fuck it, you know what we're going to do? Not worry about them, that's what. I'm sure they can handle themselves, assuming they were sent here at the same time as us." She looks around her surroundings, "Let's just pull a Genshin Impact. We can post flyers or some shit... though we don't even know if they look like themselves still.."
Omar bites his lip anxiously, "Pshhhh, Let's just not worry about them for now, they'll be finnnee..."
Summer nods her head, "Ok, ok..." She thinks for a second and makes a quick decision on their next move, "Let's not plan for the future until we find our friends. For now... we should find out what time period and find a place to get grounded."
Omar nods, "Tatooine is a pretty dangerous place overall with the scum and villainy also the Tuskens and general desert shit. It looks like Mos Espa is ahead and it's not that bad of a city compared to the others here, so we should just go in."
"You're right, very true... Ok, once we enter the city for real we're gonna keep our faces covered and try to avoid talking to anyone. If you see any main character that isn't evil... let's approach them. Likely, if it's the characters we know we can trust them. Don't mention anything about being from a different universe at ALL and we need code names too..." Summer continues, listing a detailed plan to cover as many scenarios that may happen while in the city.
The pair traverse along the sandy paths covered in brown hooded cloaks. They make it to the city entrance which looked like a sandstone arch, they nervously glance at each other before walking forward inside. To the civilians of Tatooine, they looked like normal people if not a bit roughed up. They would blend in perfectly with the crowds. The buildings of Mos Espa reminded them of a Minecraft Sandstone village. Mos Espa was not as busy as they presumed it to be.
Summer subtly looks around making eye contact with random menacing-looking civilians, "Trying not to stare at the aliens for real..."
Omar smiles, "SAME."
They observed vendors and all the different types of aliens they had only seen in Star Wars. Some were dangerously looking, others were just grossly bizarre. Random shops were selling things they had never seen before, even in Star Wars.
"Oh god, what do you think the food is like here?" Summer whispers to Omar as they walk side by side.
"Um, well I know from canon they have like melons and shit. They also eat meat from animals like Womp rats and Kowakian monkey-lizards." Omar cringes at the thought of eating a rat.
"Oh god rats, but the stupid monkey things? Aw Nah that's so mean!" Summer despairs, "Hopefully we don't have to eat anything soon..."
Omar nods but his stomach lets out a loud growl, "yea..."
They stop walking, "Dude are you hungry?"
"A little? I'll be fine..." His stomach growls again.
Summer deadpans, "A little- Bro, your stomach just growled twice. I could eat too, let's just grab something to eat."
Omar tilts his head a little confused, "We don't have any money? I don't think we should beg either people might try to take advantage of us if they think we're really poor."
A group of people passes by them that Summer takes a glance at, "Good point. Ok then, we just steal."
"What. No. If we get caught then that could lead to worse consequences than begging!" Omar whisper-yells.
"L Bozo just don't get caught."
Omar face-palms and as he looks up Summer has already begun walking behind a trio of aliens. Omar stares mortified as he witnesses her slowly reach her hand under her cloak into the back pocket of a Sullustan. She glides the wallet out of the Sullustan's pocket and spins around giving Omar a victorious grin and thumbs up.
Omar smiles awkwardly before his face drops, confused Summer looks up slowly. The Sullustan is angrily looming over her. The reaction is instantaneous looking like a cartoon character when they start to run in place before running off Summer looks up smiles nervously and runs.
"RUN! THEY'RE ONTO US!" She screams as she runs past Omar.
Omar looks at the trio of aliens running towards him before clenching his buttcheeks and booking it after her. They run past vendors and other aliens who take a glance at them before going about their business. A group of aliens playing cards, a group of aliens chattering, bounty hunters gambling, and droids doing busywork
Omar yells at Summer as they run, "So you made all these fucking plans, for all these contingencies, only to screw it up by trying to pickpocket someone!"
"Ummmm, well... when you put it that way..."
"Oh my fucking god. YOU LITERALLY SAID 'we should keep our heads down.'" He mocks.
Summer winces, "I know I know! I'm sorry but you know what they say anyways! The best plan is an improvised one!"
"LITERALLY WHO SAYS THAT!" Omar yells out.
Summer and Omar continue to run as the aliens chase them. Up ahead Omar spots a cart vendor and as Summer runs past it Omar knocks it to the ground behind them. The vendor owner yells at them for this but they continue running.
Summer slows down a bit to match Omar's pace and quickly formulates a plan as they come up to a split in paths leading down different sections of the city, "You go to the right, I'll go left. Meet back up at the city entrance!"
Omar nods then runs left towards a busy street path as Summer runs to the more quiet right path. Both of their hoods that were previously covering their faces had fallen off as they were running. The trio of aliens split up as well, a Twi'lek woman and a male Gran chase Omar down the busy street paths of Mos Espa as the other pursues Summer.
Omar pushes past crowds of various aliens bumping into people who curse him out. He lets out quick sorries but doesn't halt for even a moment. His feet hit the coarse sand leaving faint tracks as he pants and runs. He glances behind him only to see the two pursuers catching up to him.
He's alarmed as his heart begins thumping louder, sweat visibly dripping down him. He pivots to the right straight into an empty alley save for a couple of wooden boxes stacked on each other. The walls were too tall to climb so he knew his best option was to hide.
Omar finds he is at a dead-end, "Shit, Shit, Shit!" he mutters quietly under his breath.
His eyes dart anxiously around the alleyway, looking for anything that could be of use. Omar pants clenching his teeth as he hides behind stacks of boxes. He hears footfalls near him and he covers his mouth in an attempt to silence his harsh breathing.
He waits a moment before it goes silent. Omar tenses and peers over the box a little, seeing nothing but civilians walking by. He slowly uncovers his mouth letting out a few soft breaths. Suddenly, a hand grabs his shoulder and he lets out a shriek as he falls backward onto the sand.
The two aliens from before loom over Omar menacingly and corner him.
The Twi'lek pulls out a blaster and aims it at Omar, "You cornered kid, there is nowhere to go."
The Gran smiles viciously, "We could probably get a pretty penny from this kid.."
Omar audibly gulps, a single word slips from his lips, "Fuck."
TWACK-TWACK
Suddenly, the two aliens collapse to the ground falling forward onto the hard sand. Omar stares at them as they fall over, looking up to his savior in shock.
Summer smiles wildly holding a giant wooden plank and standing over the bodies victoriously, "Suck on my balls idiots."
Omar stares at her wide-eyed kneeling on the ground, "What? How? I thought-"
"Long story I'll tell you later, we should probably get outta here first." She says bending down, taking the blaster from the sleeping Twi'lek looking at it before she tosses it to Omar and continues searching their bodies.
Omar catches the blaster examining it before standing up and looking back at her, "What are you doing?"
"Looting their bodies." She says casually pocketing everything the two aliens had on them.
"That's..." Wrong, he was going to say wrong before he realized that these people were willing to sell him for money.
Summer examines the wallets of the two aliens, "Well I think this should be enough for food but I'm gonna be honest with you I have no idea what the hell this currency is."
"Let me see." Omar bends down and snatches the wallet and examines the inside, pulling out two silver coins.
Omar hands the wallet back to Summer, "Those are peggats I believe, which pretty much confirms we are in a time before the Empire."
Summer tilts her head, "Peggats?"
Omar stands up dusting himself off, "They are a currency used by the Hutts. Republic credits don't work here because they don't have jurisdiction here, so they use peggats."
"Oh, yea I forgot about that." She stands and dusts herself off too, "Too bad they didn't have anything on them besides money and a blaster."
Summer signals for Omar to help her as they lift the two bodies and hide them behind some boxes. Then Summer peers her head out the alleyway, noticing that no one was looking their way and the citizens of Tatooine were minding their business. She gestures for Omar to follow her and they put their hoods back up as they walk out of the alleyway.
The moon is out again marking the first whole day they have spent in this new universe. Omar and Summer are visibly exhausted from the whole day. After the situation with the pickpocket earlier they had spent all day asking around in hopes they may find their friends. They were often met with hostile responses to simple questions or just blatantly ignored.
They trudge along a sandy path walking at a slow pace lit up by the moonlight. The pair halt in front of a sandstone tavern entrance hoping to find a place to stay for the night.
Summer cracks her neck, "Make sure you keep yourself covered, we don't want these people knowing we are children and when you talk try to keep your voice emotionless and deep."
Omar nods as the pair enter the tavern. The floor is wooden and has sand particles everywhere. The walls were made of sandstone with wooden chairs and tables scattered around. Aliens of various kinds were enjoying drinks and chattering away. Faint jazz-like music plays in the background. Wooden stairs presumably leading up to the guest rooms were in the back. They head straight toward the bartender.
Omar does not fair much better only being 3 heads taller than her. Summer leans against the bar counter but her height barely reaches the surface. She glances around at the various people in the bar sizing them up in case they would get into trouble here. The barkeep was a normal human male cleaning a glass cup.
Omar clears his throat before attempting to talk in a deeper tone, "Hi, do you have any rooms available?"
It was obvious to anyone that this was someone trying to talk in a deeper tone. Summer smiles covering her mouth trying not to laugh.
The barkeep raises a brow pausing his cleaning, "Yes? I have two available for 4 peggats."
"A single room will be fine." Summer slides the 4 peggats across the counter.
The bartender glances at them and begins cleaning his glass again, "That'll be the third room up the stairs."
The bartender slides a key which Omar grabs. The pair walk up the wooden stairs and come to a corridor with different rooms. Omar unlocks the door revealing a less than appealing room with a single bed, wooden table, and wooden chair. A single window lit up the room with moonlight and it peered out to the city's paths. Summer walks around the room, looking under the chair and table.
Omar sighs and sits on the bed, "What are you doing?"
"Looking for possible wiretaps and shit." She says while looking under the bed, "Get up."
Omar stands up, "Why?"
She lifts the mattress slightly, checking under it, "Gotta check under the mattress."
He gives her a side-eye, "Uh-huh."
Summer scoffs and drops the mattress, "Don't look at me like that! You know this room is so sus, this whole place is sus. I just wanna make sure we're as safe as we can be!"
Omar rolls his eyes and flops onto the mattress which causes a loud creak from it, "Just wanna sleep."
Summer sits on the bed, "Yea, yea. Do you think we should sleep in shifts or something?"
"Don' care." Omar mumbles shoving his face into the pillow.
Summer empties out her tattered boots that were filled with sand, "I hate the sand, this planet is awful."
She glances at Omar and frowns, the both of them had been exhausted after today's events. It seemed like everything that happened would finally be realized as they finally had time to relax a moment. The room was slightly chilly with a cool breeze emitting from the window. Summer lets out a sigh and flops down next to Omar. It's quiet and the only thing that the two hear is each other's faint breathing.
Summer shifts in the sheets and stares at the ceiling, "...It hits you suddenly ya know? I mean, earlier when we first woke up I kinda' of just thought this was all just a dream. Not like an actual dream, but just-Just not actually happening. I mean-"
Omar rolls over cutting her off, "I know what you mean."
"Yea... We never did accomplish much, did we? I mean, you think back on it and life just felt like a blur. Always hoping for a better tomorrow, week, month, year. It all just felt so..."
"Exhausting?"
"Yea, something like that. And even then we kept going, which I mean, that's an accomplishment in itself I guess..."
"...Yea." Omar responds.
Summer bites the inside of her mouth, "It sucks man this all feels so surreal. We died and it happened so fast. It feels like-it feels like we took everything for granted. Just, plain soul-crushing."
It goes quiet for a moment before Summer speaks again, "Do you miss them?"
"Who?" Omar asks.
Summer pauses, "Your family?"
Omar lets out a sigh, "Of course I do, I had a rocky relationship with them but they still cared for me deep down and I cared for them... What about you?"
"...No. Not really." Summer doesn't elaborate, "I think this is our chance, Omar."
"Chance for what?" He croaks out.
"To accomplish something. I know in the past you wanted a girlfriend, why don't we get one here? Hell, this universe is literally your favorite thing ever, mine too! I've always wanted to accomplish something grand and help people in the process." Summer sits up, "We can help the people in this universe, we could actually save tons! We know what's going to happen in the future, what the hell is stopping us?"
Omar smiles, "Yea, I guess you're right."
Summer grins and buries herself in the sheets, "That settles it then! We'll find Lynda, Vincent, and Devin then save the freakin' galaxy!" (only she didn't say freakin')
