"Mr Blondie look at that," Hermione called excitedly, pointing at one of the many windows displays in the village. Draco smiled a tense smile, his arm wrapped tightly around Ginny.
"Oh yeah, look at that," he nodded placatingly to the child. Hermione and Fred had insisted on looking in every store window as they walked down the high street, Hermione excitedly pointing out each new thing that she had come across. There was only so many times you could fake interest in things you'd seen many times.
"Ooh sweets, Please Mr Blondie, Ginny can we go in," the girl asked her eyes wide as she stared into Honeydukes.
"I suppose," Ginny told the girl reluctantly. They both knew sugar and baby Hermione were a bad combination. They preceded into the store the children each grabbing baskets that they quickly filled with candies of all kinds. The pair dragged their choices to the counter where Hermione stared at him with Puppy dog eyes until he pulled out his money pouch to pay.
"Thank you, Mr Blondie," she chirped, reaching for his hand which she swung as she skipped beside him in the snow, poor Flopsy held tight in her other arm.
"Why don't we get some lunch," he suggested quietly, ignoring the glares Fred was directing towards him, because Granger was holding his hand instead of that of the deaged twin.
"Sounds like a plan, do you want to go to the Three Broomsticks," Ginny asked him. Draco had been about to respond in the affirmative when a chilling voice spoke from behind him.
"Draco, what do we have here," his father spoke, Draco flinched at the sound and spun round to face him, shifting himself to stand protectively in front of Ginny and the children.
"Father," he greeted testily.
"I'd heard you were consorting with the wrong sort, but I hadn't dared to believe it," his father sneered.
"Father, I'd like you to meet Miss Weasley my girlfriend," he spoke firmly, his voice unwavering as he stood up to the man that had raised him for the first time.
"Why you little, bastard, no son of mine will date a Weasley," his father spoke, during his wand from his cane.
"DON'T YOU BE MEAN TO MR BLONDIE," Hermione screamed, Before Draco could stop the girl, she'd let go of his hand and launched herself at his farther and kicked the older blonde in his knees.
"How dare you, Mudblood," his father yelled pointing his wand at Hermione and the bunny rabbit she still held in her arms. Draco and Ginny both drew their own wands, pointing them at his father as Fred stepped in front of the bushy haired child.
"Mr Malfoy are you really going to curse a defenceless child while surrounded by so many people." Ginny asked calmly, her wand arm steady as she glared at his father. Draco watched as his father cast his eyes about, students and villagers filled the street, many of them looking at the commotion outside of the sweet shop.
"Draco, I suggest you stop consorting with such filth," his father hissed before apparating away.
"Oh Freddie, you tried to save me," the bushy haired child cried, strangling her friend in a tight cuddle.
"Let's get some lunch," Draco said, leading the three Gryffindor's to the pub nearby.
