"So, where is the hero now?" Curl asks, arriving at the area of Duolingo Peaks.
"Last I checked, he was at the Ha Dahamar Shrine," Watermelon reports.
"Well, why aren't you watching him? We were told not to let him out of our sights," Gem reminds Watermelon.
"Oh! Oh! Oh! There he goes! There he goes!" Curl announces suddenly, pointing in the distance.
"Shhh, don't let him hear you. Someone follow him. We'll meet up again later," Gem says.
"Can I pleeeeeeeeease have a turn?" Curl asks.
"Gem, I say we give Curl a chance," Shade says.
"Alright, but keep calm and don't be noisy!" Gem warns.
"Okay!" Curl says.
The others watch as Curl rolls away. Then, they disperse. Later, they will meet up again. At this point, Link has made his way to the Duolingo Peaks Stable.
"Oh! Hello! I don't think we've met before!" a guy at the stable exclaims upon seeing Link.
Link waves hello.
"My name is Beedle, but you can call me… Beedle. Yeah. Just Beedle. And if you ever forget my name, you can always remember me by my beetle shaped bag!" the guy says, "I travel around collecting and selling goods. …I have a particular soft spot for bugs…"
'Okay. I have valuable gems,' Link signs.
"And you'll really let me buy them?!" Beedle asks in amazement.
'Yes. Please buy all of them,' Link signs and hands over all the gems.
Beedle exclaims excitedly each time he buys a collection of gems from Link. Then, Link buys all the arrows.
'I like arrows,' Link says.
"THAAAAAAAAANK YOUUUUU!" Beedle exclaims.
'I am hungry,' Link signs.
"There is a cooking pot over towards the front of the stable. Feel free to use it," Beedle says.
'Thank you,' Link signs and walks to the fire.
Curl sits nearby disguised as a rock. Link walks right past, not noticing the Goron child. Link makes a dish of mushrooms and fish. Then, he makes a second dish, mushrooms, fish, and salt. He smiles happily and stores the food away for later despite being hungry.
Link then runs and begins to climb up the stable. The top of the stable looks like a giant horse head. Half way up the horse head, Link slips and falls back down.
'I can get up this. I just have to try again!' Link thinks to himself.
Link begins to climb the stable again. This time, he actually makes it to the top. There is a little pin wheel at the snout of the horse head. Curiously, Link approaches the pin wheel. A Korok pops up out of nowhere!
"YAH-HAH-HAH!" the Korok announces, "You found me! Have my golden nugget!"
The Korok tosses a golden turd at Link. He catches it and stores it away. After getting another turd, Link jumps and glides to the ground with his glider. Link enters the stable building and finds two people talking to each other.
"Have you figured out the location of the hidden treasure yet, Dak?" one of them asks.
"No, but I am very close! I'm sure of it… Hang on, why is that guy standing there, Sen?" Domidak asks.
"Perhaps he is eavesdropping!" Prissen announces.
"You, young man, shoo!" Domidak yells, waving for Link to go away.
"Yeah! The treasure is ours, right, Dak?!" Prissen asks.
"Shhh, don't mention Misko's treasure or else he'll want it!" Domidak yells.
'Treasure?' Link asks.
"Too late, he knows…" Domidak says with a sigh.
"You know, if not even someone as brilliant as you can crack the riddle, I doubt he can, Dak," Prissen points out.
"I suppose we can humor the young man… But it isn't free! You hear?! Pay me 100 Rupees and I'll reveal the riddle!" Domidak yells.
'Okay,' Link says and hands over 100 Rupees.
"Hey, what do you know, Dak! The kid is loaded!" Prissen announces.
"Alright, kid, lean in close and I'll whisper the secret to you so nobody else can hear. This is top secret information I learned from Misko's dog-walker…" Domidak says, and then whispers a riddle into Link's ear.
"Man, Dak, I know you'll figure it out soon! Sure was nice that you got such a reliable source as the actual dog-walker of Misko's dog!" Prissen says with a laugh.
'Thanks,' Link signs and walks away.
Link steps outside and nearly trips over Curl. He shrugs his shoulders and keeps walking.
'I need to get a horse,' Link thinks to himself.
"Hey, young man! Have you heard about the Wild Horses of Hyrule?" some guy named Rensa asks when he sees Link.
'No,' Link replies.
"All across Hyrule, there are wolf horses. They've been wild for generations, ever since the war 100 years ago. Nobody can even touch them they are so wild… Well, nobody but skilled horse tamers… If you happen to tame one, just talk to my brother Tasseren and he'll register it for you," Rensa says.
'Okay, bye,' Link says.
Link walks a little distance away.
"Maybe you should talk to him again," Curl whispers.
'Huh? Who?' Link wonders, looking around, 'Well, okay."
Link turns back around. Rather than following the path, he climbs over some people's tents. He approaches Rensa again.
"Hello, again, young man! Care to hear more about the wild horses? I'm something of an expert. I won second place in Hyrule's Wild Horse Taming Contest!" Rensa boasts.
'Second place?' Link signs.
"That's right! Do you think you could beat me? Bring a tamed horse back here within two minutes to beat my time!" Rensa says, "There should be plenty of wild horses in that field over there."
'Okay,' Link signs.
The contest begins! A timer unseen by anyone is ticking down as Link rushes into the field. There are a few wild horses grazing here as Rensa mentioned.
'Oh, look at that black one! I want that black one!' Link thinks excitedly to himself.
Rather than sneaking, Link runs loudly across the meadow. The grass crinkles loudly beneath his feet. Then, once he gets closer, he sneaks through the shadow of a tree. Without warning, Link throws himself onto the back of the black horse.
'Ah hah! Got you! You are my horse!' Link thinks, 'Now let me eat.'
Link pulls out some food and begins to eat. As he is eating, the black horse desperately tries to throw him off of its back. The horse wins and Link is thrown to the ground.
'Fine, I'll get this other one!' Link thinks, angrily, 'I don't want this one.'
Link begins to approach a brown and white horse. It may be pretty, but it isn't the one Link wanted. Link gets closer and close, but then the brown and white horse kicks him so hard he falls over.
"AHHHHHHH!" Link yelps.
Link gets up and chases after the brown and white horse. He is determined to tame this horse. He approaches from behind and gets kicked over again.
"AHHHHHHH!" Link yelps again.
He gets up and manages to jump on the brown and white horse this time. The horse tries to throw him off, but isn't as wild as the black horse. Unfortunately, by the time the horse is tamed, time has run out and Link is teleported off of the horse's back.
"Well! Looks like you couldn't beat my record! I still stand as Hyrule's 2nd best wild horse tamer!" Rensa says when Link reappears.
'I want to try again,' Link signs in annoyance.
"Alright, go for it! Tame a horse and bring it back here before 2 minutes is up!" Rensa says.
Link runs back to the field as the invisible timer is ticking down. The black horse and the brown and white horse are much too far away by now. However, there is still a light brown horse standing nearby. Unlike the first two horses, the light brown horse barely puts up a fight.
'I did it!' Link thinks to himself excitedly, 'I tamed a horse!'
Link leads the light brown horse away. Before the two minutes are up, Link rides the horse to the meeting spot.
'I like the black horse better, but this one will do,' Link thinks to himself, still wishing he had the black horse.
"Wow! Congrats on beating my score in the Hyrule wild horse taming competition! It's amazing that you could beat 2nd place… Though, honestly, it was just my brother and I competing. Here, have 50 Rupees!" Rensa says.
Link receives 50 rupees. Then, he brings the light brown horse to Tasseren.
"Hi! That's a mighty fine horse you have there! I don't believe I've registered any of your horses before. I'm Tsseren, Rensa's brother. If you register a horse here, you can board or claim your horse from any stable around Hyrule. So… First… What would you like to name your new horse?" Tasseren asks.
'Maple,' Link signs.
"Maple? Alright! Maple has officially been registered! Take good care of that horse, you hear?!" Tasseren asks.
'I treat my horses well,' Link thinks to himself, 'Come on, Maple. Let's go get a snack.'
As Link is riding his new horse, he accidentally almost runs over a Cucco. The Cucco freaks out and runs away before it can get crushed under the hooves of the horse. Sitting on a pile of hay is three apples.
'That looks like a good snack for Maple,' Link thinks.
Quickly, Link hops off of Maple's back. He runs up the hay stack and steals the three apples. He then places the apples in front of Maple. She happily eats her snack.
'Didn't even thank me for the snacks, stupid horse,' Link thinks to himself in disdain.
After Maple is done eating, Link mounts her and begins to ride away. There was a goat in the field so Link runs it over. The goat bleats in agony before turning into a chunk of meat. Link dismounts and grabs the raw meat chunk that used to be a goat. He shoves it wherever he has been storing everything.
'I'm a horrible person!' Link thinks, grinning as he shakes his head.
He mounts Maple again and rides to a rock wall. Here, he uses his magical magnet of treasure chest retrieval to bring a treasure chest to himself. The treasure chest falls and nearly hits Maple on the head.
'Sorry, Maple!' Link thinks and sweats in embarrassment.
Link gets his treasure and then crosses a bridge. This is the Kakariko Bridge. Link stops and looks at a random pile of rocks that are on the bridge. Then, he grabs one and leaps off of the bridge holding it.
Maple watches curiously as Link falls holding a rock. Link reaches the bottom and accidentally throws the rock into the water at a random spot.
'Oh,' Link thinks, 'Well, while I am down here…'
There are some Stalfos lurking down here. Link pulls a mop out of nowhere and charges at the skeleton monsters. They try their best to attack him, but he kills them all by hitting them over the head with his mop. Then, as he is swinging, he accidentally swipes a fire with his mop, catching it on fire.
'Oh! My mop! No!' Link thinks as he panics and rushes to put out the fire.
After the fire on the mop is put out, Link is tired again. It has been a long day. With a yawn, he plops down beside a large rock. As he sleeps, however, a Stalfos hand continues to squirm across the ground helplessly.
As Link is sleeping, Curl is able to catch up. Of course, Link does nothing spectacular the whole time he sleeps. As soon as Link wakes up, though, he steps on top of Curl who is disguised as a rock again. Then, Link climbs up onto the big rock next to Curl.
'Good thing I'm a Goron…' Curl thinks, 'Otherwise I might get crushed.'
Link finds himself another rock after he had tossed his first rock into the water yesterday. He proceeds to jumping around carrying the rock above his head. This time, the rock nearly makes it into the Korok circle below the bridge.
'That didn't work,' Link thinks and goes to grab another rock.
On his third try, Link gets a rock to fall inside the Korok circle. A Korok pops up so Link leaps off the bridge to greet it.
"YAH-HAH-HAH!" the Korok announces, "You found me! Have my golden nugget!"
The Korok tosses a golden turd at Link. He catches it and stores it away.
