Two New Jedi

PHILADELPHIA - 2032

While the McCutchen Case had been on everyone's mind, Chris and Tori had finally moved into their own place with the twins. They had also taken C-3PO and R9-D2 with them which had made things a lot quieter for Darius and Lucy as the protocol droid was no longer complaining about anything and everything. Caleb had also calmed down after receiving a stern talking to about his behavior from Darius and Mace and the impression it was leaving on people. Michael Myers had made his way down to Philadelphia for at least three reasons that he shared with everyone. One being to see what he considered to be his first two grandchildren. The other two reasons involved Jedi business since he was a Jedi Master. Darius had gone to the Syndulla Home to meet with Michael since he figured that the Jedi business involved him.

"What's this all about?" He asked.

"Jacen wanted a Jedi Master to down and screen Darius Banks as a potential Jedi while Bryan Khayman wants the same done with Shaun McCutchen because he and a bunch of other Jedi spirits including Yoda were able to interact with Shaun's father. Jacen also said that Shaun was able to see the spirits his dad was with. He asked Jacen who Ahsoka Tano was. Obi-Wan and Anakin sent me down here to do this with a wink and a nudge which I think was their way of telling me that they knew I wanted to see the twins and to visit them while I'm here." Michael replied as they knocked on Jacen's door and were greeted by Mira and R9-P1.

"Darius, come on in and you must be Michael Myers." She said.

"You must be Mira. Tevin Felth told me about you." Michael told her as he followed Darius in.

"I know Jacen raised the question about Little Darius, but how does Shaun figure into this?" Mira asked as R9-P1 went to get Jacen.

"He's not building a boat or something in the basement of this place is he?" Michael asked her causing Darius to chuckle as Shaun came down the stairs.

"Mr. Carpenter, something happen to my ex-mother ahead of schedule?" He asked causing Michael to raise an eyebrow.

"Something I didn't know about the case outside of Tevin sending those people who were following him and the guy who hired them to Gitmo to protect them from me?"

"The Jury gave LaShonda McCutchen the Death Penalty. During Pre-trial, we found out that she murdered his father and his two sisters along with their father. Eugene Marsden was just there and Shaun matched the story Eugene and his new lawyer told Forbes. She let Marsden plead out and took McCutchen to trial. I'm sure I don't need to tell you the verdict. Oh, before I forget. Shaun McCutchen meet Michael Myers. Michael is Josh's dad and played Dad to Tori for the past 13 years which technically makes him the twins' Grandfather on their Mom's side." Darius said.

"Nice to meet you then. I believe Joshua's maturity level was one of the reasons you were never told about Mira until now." Shaun told Michael before opening the door to let Keisha, Jeremie, and Little Darius in as Jacen emerged from the basement.

"Everyone's here I see. No, I am not building a boat in the basement." He said as Little Darius hit Shaun in the head with his rattle.

"Not the Mama!" Little Darius exclaimed as he hit Shaun with his rattle for a second time much to Michael's amusement.

"Where or who did he learn that from as if I didn't already know?" He asked as Keisha took the rattle away from her son and put it in his baby bag..

"He got it from Caleb who got it from Lucy smacking Josh for encouraging Caleb's behavior when it comes to food." Darius replied.

"On to business so I can see my grandchildren. Jacen asked that a Jedi Master come down to see if Little Darius is able to use The Force based on presented evidence. Bryan Khayman being the yenta that he tends to be sometimes, asked with the possible approval of Master Yoda or Master Windu for a Master to do the same with Shaun here because the spirit of Shaun's father was able to communicate with a number of Jedi Spirits. Jacen then said that Shaun asked about one of the spirits his dad was with because he knew who four out of five of them were. None of the books on Galactic History that I've seen have a photo of Ahsoka Tano in them." Michael explained. The next hour consisted of Michael performing a number of tests on SHaun and Little Darius with the help of Darius and Jacen.

"Shaun, what am I thinking?" Michael asked.

"Why wasn't this picked up on sooner? Because when Mr. Carpenter is around Little Darius, Caleb is around too. In my case, it's the same deal that was had with Mr. Carpenter. The use of illegal drugs suppressed The Force." Shaun replied.

"To be fair, I didn't notice Darius being Force-Sensitive because I was either focused on driving or Josh was around being his usual self." Jacen added.

"There's other tests we have to do including blood tests. I'm not going to draw blood here because one, I'm not trained to do that or run the tests and two, I don't have the equipment to draw blood or run blood tests. My wife who is up in New York is qualified to run those tests and Tevin has the facilities to draw blood there too." Michael explained to Shaun and Keisha.

"Mrs. Marlion is a Nurse at Temple Hospital." Shaun said.

"I'm aware of that, she helped deliver my grandchildren."

"Speaking of, does General Marlion know you're in town? He probably does and you have to tell him about the results of this." Darius asked Michael who replied by giving Darius a headslap.

"Now we know the origins of Lucy doing that to him." Shaun whispered to Keisha who giggled and slid an arm around him as Little Darius took his rattle out of the bag and whacked Darius on the head with it causing Jacen to laugh.

In another part of the city, Chris pulled up in front of a coffee shop and got out of his car leaving R9-D2 in the car as he went inside while checking his phone for messages. He found one from Darius and one from Tori both telling him that Michael Myers was in Philadelphia on Jedi business and that he would be stopping by to see the twins at some point before leaving.

"Morning, Charlene." Chris said to the barista who knew him on sight and quickly prepared his coffee. She eyed a group of men as Chris sent an email to the office in case Typher didn't know about Michael being in town. As Chris continued fiddling with his phone, he didn't notice that Charlene had added quite a bit of sugar to his coffee along with the milk he took in his coffee and gave her some money as he finally put the device away and took his cup before leaving and walking back to his car. He took a sip and spit the coffee out a second later.

"That is a lot more then two sugars." He said to R9 who beeped something at him. Chris turned to see that the business was suddenly closed. Grabbing his blaster, he told R9 to put out an armed robbery in progress at their location and went to where he knew the service door was. Inside, the four men rounded up the patrons and staff at gunpoint demanding their money, jewelry, phones, and anything else of value. One of them grabbed a teenage girl and prepared to take her to a back room when he saw Chris standing there, cup in hand.

"What's you doing back here, you pighead sucka?" The man asked Chris.

"Every day since I first set foot in this place, Charlene there's been giving me a large coffee with milk and two sugars. Today she gives me a large coffee with milk, only it has about 20 sugars in it. I just came back to complain. Now, you boys are gonna put those guns down."

"Say what?"

"Well, we're not just gonna let y'all walk out of here with the loot."

"Who's we sucka?"

"BlasTech, their wonderful Model DL-44 heavy blaster pistol, and me." Chris replied as he put the cup aside and pulled his blaster from its holster. The man let go of the girl and pointed his gun at Chris who fired, striking the man. Another suspect pointed a shotgun at Chris and fired as Chris ducked behind the counter and returned fire striking the suspect, sending him crashing through a window. The third suspect was shot dead as Chris managed to keep Charlene covered. The fourth suspect grabbed one of the staff members and put his gun to her head as Chris confronted him to the sounds of sirens in the background. The suspect put his finger on the trigger as Chris pointed his blaster at the man's head and looked him in the eyes.

"Go ahead, make my day." Chris said coldly. The suspect eventually dropped his gun, let go of his hostage, and put his hands up as two Stormtroopers and a Death Trooper entered the shop and took him into custody followed by a second Death Trooper, J.J., and R9-G6.

"This is going to be a lot of paperwork." J.J. said as he looked over the scene.

"I gotta ask my in-laws if coffee's psychic. Make sure our suspect knows the bad news of both the charges and where the last group of people who messed with the Felth Family ended up." Chris told him as he went to check on Charlene who had suffered a cut from flying glass.

"Ambulance is coming. Nice trick with the sugar. You get that from Sudden Impact?" He asked her as J.J. came over.

"What movie was that?" J.J. asked.

"Clint Eastwood, Dirty Harry. His barista did the exact same thing to let him know there was a robbery in progress." Chris replied as the two helped Charlene to her feet and out to a waiting ambulance where the paramedics took care of her.

"What are the charges?" J.J. asked Chris as Eric arrived.

"Three counts of Murder One, about a dozen counts of Attempted Murder, Robbery, Assault with a Deadly, resisting arrest, and some weapons charges just to make sure his bond is really high if he even gets one. Forbes might be able to argue that he's a danger to the community. I almost forgot the other bad news for him, Michael Myers is in town." Chris replied.

"What happened?" Eric asked.

"Chris recreated a scene from a Dirty Harry movie and Jedi Master Myers is in town." J.J. replied.

"What's the damage?"

"Three perps for the Morgue, one civilian with a flying glass injury, and assorted property damage caused by suspect gunfire." Chris replied.

At the office, Typher looked at the surviving suspect through the one way glass that allowed them to look into the Interrogation Room before turning to face two of his three Majors.

"Three shots, three dead suspects. I admire the restraint shown. Your sister would have dropped this one just to prove a point or reduce the amount of paperwork she'd have to do after. Make sure you get those reports in." He said to Chris.

"Yeah, I'm gonna do the booking sheet and Eric's going to get the witness statement from the barista at the hospital. She was cut by flying glass as a result of suspect gunfire." J.J. explained.

"Eric get a statement from Chris?"

"Already gave it to him and I did the Firearms Discharge Report. That should be in your email because my Dad and Uncle already got it." Chris replied as Eric joined them.

"Charlene will be fine and discharged tomorrow. Doctor said she needed some antibiotics, a few stitches, and a tetanus shot. They're keeping her overnight as a precaution, EMS took a glass fragment out of her arm. I got her statement and the video of what went down. I also got the glass fragment from the medics." He said and handed everything to Typher.

"How many of these incidents did you investigate while at RSB?" Typher asked Eric.

"At least three in between chasing smugglers. Plus the two after I was transferred here." Eric replied causing J.J. to raise an eyebrow.

"Before you got here, I left him in charge one weekend because Donna and I went camping with Steve, Marty, and their families while Lucy went to New York with hers. An RSB Man ordered Death Troopers to shoot someone near a fence at PHL The Judge who heard the case on the very minor charge that was filed against the civilian gave Probation or something like that and Schlager got demoted and shipped off to Russia because Eric was told to call Lucy if anything came up and her Dad answered the phone every time Eric called looking for her because Schlager was throwing a fit and demanding to speak with someone higher in rank. The other one was the case against Hans Dietrich that was brewing as you arrived. That being said, what's the verdict?"

"Based on the evidence and witness statements. Chris is in the clear. At least on our end. The Philadelphia DA's Office might want to do its own investigation." Eric replied.

"What would they find differently?" Chris asked.

"They might bring up you shooting that guy in Haddonfield as proof that you have a habit of shooting first. Even if the Haddonfield Police and the Illinois State Attorney found that to be a justified shooting." J.J. replied.

"Chris walking into that coffee shop means this guy's going to Federal Court. The Philadelphia District Attorney has no stake in this matter. Make sure everything is air-tight for Shirley when she shows up. Did this guy say anything to anyone?" Typher explained.

"Not that I was told." Eric replied as Schultz joined them.

"Colonel Carpenter called and wanted to know what happened. I told her that her brother was fine and that I knew nothing else. She also said that Jedi Master Myers is in town. Of that, I know nothing. Nothing." He said.

"He's here to screen two candidates for the Jedi Order and see the twins. I was going to tell you he was in town when I got in had I not walked in on an armed robbery while buying myself a cup of coffee. How's Charlene doing mentally?" Chris explained before asking Eric the question.

"Hospital Social Worker is taking care of that."

"She wasn't freaking out at the scene, but that doesn't mean anything. She might have been in shock from the whole thing." J.J. added.

Michael Myers stopped by the office later that afternoon catching everyone by surprise.

"What was this Jedi business I heard so much about?" Typher asked him.

"Assessments on two future candidates for the Order." Michael replied.

"Darius or Jacen?"

"Combination of Jacen and Bryan Khayman. Khayman didn't like your dead Music Teacher getting between him and Kanan Jarrus arguing again."

"Shaun McCutchen's Force-Sensitive?"

"Yeah. He was able to see and identify four of the five Jedi Spirits that were at his Graduation with his father. The only one he didn't know was Ahsoka Tano. The other candidate I looked at was Darius Banks. Kid referred to Shaun as his father last week. Shaun also said something about Caleb's uncle, a messed up cup of coffee, and a gunfight. I'm guessing that involved Chris in some way."

"Chris had what's being referred to as a Dirty Harry moment at a coffee shop today. Three suspects are dead, one is in a cell and made no statements. One civilian was injured by flying glass, hospital is keeping her overnight just to be on the safe side. Eric has the case file and I won't repeat what J.J. said because Lucy told me all about how you smack people upside the head for babbling incoherently among other things."

"I'd ask about the psych eval on Chris, but Tevin had the moron who brought it up after he shot that guy in Haddonfield last Halloween escorted out of the building his office is in by a pair of Death Troopers much to my amusement. Bryan Khayman blames me for Tevin's attitude change some 15 years ago." Michael said.

"Eric said it's a clean shooting based on the evidence and statements from witnesses."

"Tevin know about this yet?"

"Just that Chris was involved in another shooting incident and that we're still collecting evidence and statements. He said he'll get Chris an attorney if the Philadelphia DA's Office decides it wants to take the side of an armed robbery suspect and prosecute Chris for something despite the witnesses and evidence supporting Chris' side of the story."

"I just came by because Darius insisted that I tell you I was in town and then Shaun mentioned the shootout with Chris and I thought while I'm in town, find out what happened there. I also need your wife to collect blood samples for my wife from the two kids." Michael told him and headed for Chris' office where he found R9-D2 in Sleep Mode and no sign of Chris. Michael looked at the papers on the two desks before deciding to smack the sleeping droid on the dome. R9 beeped at Michael in surprise and annoyance.

"You've known me for how many years and how many times have you seen Lucy doing that to people?" Michael asked the droid as Chris walked in with a cup of coffee.

"I thought you were going to see the twins." He said to Michael as R9 beeped in annoyance at receiving what basically amounted to a headslap.

"I was until Darius insisted I check-in with General Marlion and Shaun McCutchen mentioned you being in a shootout. The kid and the Banks Baby are both Force-Sensitive. I just have to have the blood tests done for the record as soon as I can get them to a place to do the blood draw. R9's upset because I did to him what would do to anyone in your Dad's office that I caught sleeping or goofing around on the job." Michael explained as Chris sat down.

"Did Darius give you the new address?"

"It never came up. Shaun and Keisha were amused by the headslap I gave Darius and the follow-up whack on the head with a rattle from Darius Banks which amused Jacen for some reason and then Shaun said something about the shootout."

"Little Darius likes to do that to Shaun. He got it from seeing Caleb whack Shaun on the head with a frying pan once. Caleb got it from everyone giving Josh headslaps for one reason or another. Shaun has gotten used to it. Maybe Jacen explained the whole headslap thing to him."

"Slapping someone across the face is an insult and or a challenge to a duel. Smacking someone on the back of the head is a wake-up call and kicking them in the ass is an attention getter. I once said that to your Dad after giving Walertin a headslap the first time I caught him annoying Miguel Chavez may he rest in peace." Michael said.

Tori brought the twins and C-3PO to the Carpenter House for dinner that evening since Lucy wated to see Michael before he left town and find out what was going on.

"What do you want to know first? Who the new Jedi are going to be or what happened with that shootout Chris was in today?" Michael asked her.

"Start with these new Jedi." She replied.

"Jacen brought them to Master Kenobi's attention with Bryan Khayman doing what I hear you like to do in one case. Candidate's father yelled at him last week for trying to start something with Kanan Jarrus at a school event." Michael explained as Lucy headslapped Darius.

"I didn't find out about this until today either and in the one case, I wasn't exactly looking for it either. Not to mention how strong of a Force presence Caleb gives off." Darius protested.

"We knew Darius for about a year before we found out about his relation to Master Windu and what came with it." Chris added as he gave Joseph a bottle.

"I had it for 10 years before I found out I had it and Josh was born with it." Michael said.

"The thing involving Chris?" Lucy asked.

"Recreated a scene from Sudden Impact. The scene where Dirty Harry goes to buy his daily cup of coffee and the barista adds a ton of sugar to it so he'd come back and catch the gang of armed robbers in the act and then he introduces them to his Smith & Wesson. I gotta imagine that the DL-44 would be Dirty Harry's blaster of choice. Long story short, three perps dead, one perp in custody, and one civilian with minor injuries." Chris replied.

"How did Shaun and Keisha take the news?" Tori asked as she put Jessica down in her bassinet.

"I think they're still processing it. Keisha more then Shaun, he told us about Chris making like Dirty Harry at that coffee shop. Hey, no hitting people on the head with the big pot." Darius replied as Caleb hit him on the head with the big pot that was used to make pasta and other things after using The Force to float it out of the kitchen much to Michael's amusement.

"I think Chris is tired of the Dirty Harry comparison. I know Michael is." Lucy said.

"Bad enough that's how the dishonest, pot stirring media is going to see this with the Philadelphia DA's Office going along with that made-up narrative and come after me saying I'm this, that, and the other thing." Chris added.

"Give me a squad of Death Troopers and I'll deal with the media." Michael chimed in.

"I think I should take the children out of the room." C-3PO announced.

"The twins don't even know what's going on." Tori told the droid.

"Caleb's lost in his own world too." Lucy added.

"Little Darius whacked Shaun with bottle." Caleb said.

"That's why we're going to come up with a punishment for when you do that to me. Little Darius picked up that habit from you." Darius told Caleb using the tone he'd use if he was scolding a student for some misbehavior. Caleb, upset at being yelled at by Darius, threw his plate on the floor at the protocol droid's feet and stormed off.

"Master Caleb, that behavior was inexcusable. I think you need to have your programming looked at as feel that there is something wrong with it. Or there is something wrong with your circuits or wiring that caused this behavior. Now, you come back here and clean up your mess." The droid called after Caleb who responded by slamming his bedroom door.

"Justin said that Pratchard Junior raised the idea that Caleb may have ADHD again. That outburst from him was really unexpected and very concerning." Lucy told everyone.

"Darius did yell at him for doing something he basically learned how to do from most of the adults that are around him. If anything, someone should tell Josh to behave himself around Caleb from now on. That's why I prefer kicking people discreetly under tables to the headslap" Tori said.

"I have never used cookware on anyone. No matter how childish Walertin got, he was never hit with a frying pan a pot, or anything else that could cause a concussion. That's why I never headslapped Josh for his all of his color comments about people. He got his tendency for verbal abuse from me." Michael added.

"Way to not call me a hypocrite." Darius said as Caleb came back to the table much calmer and Chris clean up the mess he had left.

"Why 3PO though?" Chris asked Caleb.

"Another case of learned behavior. You, Chris, Justin, R2-D2, Mitch Piett, and Josh treated 3PO like trash almost daily." Michael explained.

"Mace mad at Daddy." Caleb finally said.

"Why is Mace mad at me?" Darius asked.

"Probably for being what I was not calling you." Michael replied. That night, Darius reached into The Force where he found Mace was slightly annoyed with his plan to punish Caleb for repeating learned behavior. He also found Shaun had opened himself up to his newfound powers and was excited for his future as Jacen and Kanan talked to him about taking his first steps into a larger world. He also felt the flowing energy between Caleb, Shaun, and Little Darius. Michael Myers returned to New York after stopping to collect the blood samples he had asked Donna Marlion to take from Shaun and Little Darius earlier in the day and began looking into the family trees of both future Jedi. At the Syndulla House, the Spirit of Kyle Jackson appeared in Jacen's living room next to where the Spirit of Kanan Jarrus was.

"Little Darius couldn't have found a better replacement for his real father." Kyle said.

"It's the Will of The Force that brought all these people together." Kanan told him.

"Bryan Khayman still sore at me for yelling at him?"

"I think he's keeping an eye on Michael or being a yenta somewhere else. Maybe he went to Chicago to torment Jacobs for a while." Kanan replied as Kyle went upstaits and poked his head in on Shaun who had fallen asleep in the middle of exchanging messages with Keisha while Kanan looked in on Jacen and Mira who were fast asleep themselves.
