In the centre of town, there was a place most locals new as Granny's diner, it got this name because the owner was respectively known as Granny. Emma always liked the place; it had a homey feel to it that was rare in her life. A large jukebox located at the back of the diner played mostly eighties nostalgia tracks and the neon lights gave the restaurant a comforting glow, Emma and Henry sat in their usual booth, towards the back laughing with each other while they waited for their meal. Emma should be saving to pay the rent, but the truth is even if she saved every last dollar, it wouldn't come close to paying off their bills. Why not just enjoy a meal with her son before time ran out, plus losing their house was the perfect opportunity, for Neal and Emma to go their separate ways, for good. Even if the timing wasn't ideal given her unemployment, the only thing on her mind was the effect this would have on Henry, she pulled out a newspaper looking at the apartment listings nearby. Henry didn't seem surprised by this, not ignorant to the fact that they might not be able to stay in their current house. The places Emma was pointing out however, were notably a lot smaller than their current house.

"This one looks nice, and right next to the movie theatre" Henry said.

Emma smiled happy that they were able to do this together but looking at the rent it was still going to be hard to make ends meet. However, that wasn't the problem that currently had her stomach in knots.

"Henry, when we find a new place, it's going to be without your father"

"Mom, it's ok"

"I just, don't want you to ever feel abandoned"

"I don't"

"I hope so kid, you can always see your father if you want, but we can't live together anymore"

"Then who will we live with?"

"We got each other"

"Killian?"

"What?" she replied bewildered.

Henry waved looking behind her, then Emma turned her head realising what he meant, that Killian was at present walking through the entrance of the diner. The sunset behind him almost blinding her until his face came into view, she looked up smiling uncontrollably. Robin's warnings only making her more curious about him, as he sauntered over to them, Handsome as ever, he was wearing dress shirt and slacks. Visibly Killian looked somewhat uncomfortable in this attire, itching to get back into the leather jacket and jeans. Still, he waved at them, but his eyes didn't meet hers and as he reached the table it was clear to Emma, the smile on his face was forced.

"Looking for a new place?" Killian asked, eyeing the paper on the table.

"Yeah, I like this one" Henry said pointing at the house he just mentioned.

Emma's face was visibly awkward knowing the place was way out of their price range. Areas that have large newly updated recreational facilities and movie theatres, are on the side of town that matches the resident's taxable income, this particular part of town ranged on the higher side, with Emma being currently unemployed it wasn't really an option.

"Nice choice lad, but you might want something closer to the beach"

"Huh" Henry replied taking the paper from the table looking at it with scrutiny. "You might be right" Henry finished looking at other options.

"Killian, I came by the Raiders clubhouse today, I hope that's ok"

"Oh, yeah Robin mentioned something, sorry I missed you, but I had a meeting"

"I just wanted to thank you, for trying to help out"

"Don't mention it, least I could do, after all, your only in this mess because of us, which your husband "nicely" pointed out last night"

"Not my husband" Emma said bitter "And I'm sorry about that".

"No trouble, I've dealt with much worse".

"Right, of course" Emma replied, thinking about Robins earlier warning.

Emma gestured for Killian to take a seat, as he stood there somewhat awkwardly by their table. He slid into the booth next to Henry, still waiting for his takeout order from the kitchen, he looked different today, his eyes tired and sad.

"What's the plan for tonight?"

"Going to head home, eat my lasagne on the couch alone"

"Ruff day?"

"Yeah, and it's long from being over"

"Were trying to make the best of a bad day ourselves"

Killian nodded but notably his body was stiff, and he looked incredibly uncomfortable, whatever he had been through today it certainly was not over, and he wasn't ready to talk about it. They had been chatting for a few minutes and he still had not produced that signature smoulder, his eyes distant unable to focus on the present while his mind was in a dark place. After Robins warnings Emma couldn't pull away or pretend, she didn't notice he was suffering or try to ease his pain. It was like a compulsion, and Emma could feel herself, regretting it as soon as the words slipped out.

"What happened today, are you, ok?" Emma didn't mean to but the questioned came out with less of a concerned tone and more of an interrogating one.

"Fine, why wouldn't I be?" he asked curious.

"It's nothing" she said shaking her head.

"No, it's defiantly something?"

"Robin, he just warned me... I mean, he mentioned you might be in a bad headspace today"

"What? What else did he say?" he said angry, getting up from the table.

"He didn't say much, it's not a big deal" Emma replied, realising she may have ventured to far into Killian's personal life.

"Well, he shouldn't have said anything"

Grabbing his bag of takeout from the counter and storming out of the diner, Henry looked up at Emma concerned but she didn't know what to do frozen in place. Running after Killian now would not solve any problems. And she just placed her hands on her face rubbing her temple, this is a side of Killian she hadn't seen before, she had obviously pushed too far into a sensitive area.

"Good job Emma" she mumbled.
