"Oh... um, hello," Serena said softly.

"Is... everything okay?" Selene asked her.

Serena shook her head. "No. I cannot stand those two teasing me like they do!"

Selene instantly had a hunch as to who Serena was referring to.

"Let me guess," Selene said. "You're talking about Gary and Giselle, right?"

"Y-yeah," Serena replied. "They keep bullying me, saying that I'm way too shy." She sniffled and wiped her eyes before speaking again. "You know those two?"

"Yep," Selene said darkly as she took a seat next to Serena. "They just got through teasing me about first, my hat, and then my dreams."

As Selene made herself comfortable, Serena glanced over at her. Although she was still upset, she gave the lightest of chuckles. "I guess you and me have something in common. We're both sadly easy targets for the bullies here at camp."

"Yeah," Selene said before sighing. "I really wish I didn't have to come to this camp in the first place."

"You're not the only one," Serena said. "My mom and I just recently moved to Kanto. She sent me to camp in the hopes that I could make some friends."

"Well... if you want," Selene began, though now sounding shy herself. "I could be your friend."

"Really?" Serena asked.

Selene turned to her and nodded.

A short time later, for practically the first time since coming to camp, a smile appeared on Serena's face. "I'd like that very much. Thank you."

And so the two of them, now feeling at least slightly better now, continued to sit together as they began to get to know each other more.
