Chapter 39 Olidroll City Part 7
After the Gym Battle against Raymond is over, Ash and Lillie are now continuing their work at the Police Station. They find an Officer Jenny who has some problems.
Jenny: Growlithe is excellent at tracking through scent. Sometimes it gets attracted to Spritzee's scent, though. They hang out in the Recreation District. Hey, if you happen to have a Spritzee, I'll give you something for it.
Ash: I have a Spritzee. (Shows the officer.)
Jenny: Then if you have one of these, you can evolve Spritzee into Aromatisse!
Then Ash and Lillie are given the Sachet, and Ash uses it on Spritzee to have it evolve into Aromatisse.
Ash: Aromatisse is also a good Pokemon to use.
Lillie: Yeah, now I guess we can check out our missions in the Police Station. I hope it is the same as the ones back in Rangers.
Ash: Same here. (Walks toward the bulletin board)
Case Name: Shiny Stealing Scoundrel: The client was helping a tourist find his way around Olidroll City. During a conversation, the client had shown the tourist his Shiny Aerodactyl. When the client turned around to leave, the tourist snatched the Pokeball. The client has no other Pokemon to fight the thief with, so it's up to us.
Ash: So stopping stealing...something that Team Rocket would have done. (Lillie nods.)
The client believes he would be at the Pokemon Fan Club in the Recreation District, showing off the shiny Pokemon.
Lillie: Okay, we have the place. Let's go there.
Once they get to the Fan Club, they see a man showing off Shiny Aerodactyl.
Little Girl: Wow, a shiny! I've never seen one before!
Fisherman: I've heard of some people fishing up golden Magikarp, but I haven't seen anything like this up close!
Aerodactyl: (Confused with all the people looking at him.) Aero?
Chairman: (Notices Aerodactyl's confused face.) Don't be fooled! It isn't his.
Shiny Thief: And how do you know that? I think you're just jealous because you don't have any Shiny Pokemon!
Chairman: Actually, I do have a few. But that's irrelevant. I can tell this Aerodactyl is confused. It looks like it has no idea what's going on. This isn't the look of social awkwardness from the crowd. It has no idea where it is or who you are. You stole this Pokemon, didn't you?
Ash: That's right! And we also get the report.
The group from the fan club sees Ash and Lillie as they show their Police Badge, and the thief pales after seeing it.
Lillie: You are under arrest for thievery. Don't resist and come with us.
Shiny Thief: Tch...fine, you caught me. But I'm not leaving without a fight!
He sends out Relicanth and Pupitar to battle, and Ash goes for Roserade while Lillie goes for Slowbro. Roserade uses Magical Leaf to knock out Relicanth, while Slowbro uses Water Pulse to defeat Pupitar.
Shiny Thief: Aerodactyl, it's your turn!
But Aerodactyal is still confused, as he doesn't know why he needs to fight.
Ash: Are you sure it is the right idea?
Aerodactyl: Aero...
Chairman: It isn't going to listen to you. You can't expect a Pokemon to obey if it doesn't respect you, much less doesn't even know you.
Shiny Thief: (Kneel and sigh.) I guess you're right...I don't know why I didn't think of that before. I just saw it as another treasure to find, so I was blinded by that. I'll return Aerodactyl to its trainer. I know where he lives. And you can have this. It's the biggest treasure I've ever found.
The thief gives Ash and Lillie a Big Nugget, and then under the other police officer's supervision, the thief leaves.
Chairman: I'm relieved that ended on a good note. Thank you very much for your help.
Ash: No problem, we're glad to help.
Lillie: And that also finishes this case.
Ash and Lillie chuckle a little before leaving the Fan Club.
And then they decide to take part in Contests in the Contest Hall, as Ash wants to show Lillie what he can do. The Contest in Ceolis is not like the other regions, the first round is the Primary judging, the audience votes on the Pokémon that looks the coolest, most beautiful, cutest, most clever, or toughest, depending on the category of the contest. And then the second round is Appeal Round, which is much like the performance round in other regions, but based on the category of the contest.
Ash: So it is different from the other contests...but I have confidence that I can win all 20 ribbons today.
Lillie: Really? I will like to see that. I heard that there are four ranks, with Normal, Super, Hyper, and then Master. The difficulty will only be harder and harder.
Ash: No need to worry about it. Just watch.
And Ash goes for participating as he uses Sceptile for the Cool Contest, Sylveon for the Cute Contest, Infernape for the Tough Contest, Milotic for the Beauty Contest, and Meowstic for the Clever Contest, and they are doing a great job as they show off their moves. For Sceptile, he uses the combination of Leaf Blade and X-Scissor to show the coolest moves, Sylveon uses Charm and Draining Kiss, as well as some cute status moves to appeal to the crowd. Infernape goes for Dig and Close Combat to show how tough it is, and appeal to the crowd. Milotic, as a lot of people know, is a common Pokemon for Beauty, but Ash's impressed them with a lot of beautiful moves. And finally, Meowstic uses some Psychic moves to show how clever it is. In the end, it takes 3 hours for Ash to win all the ribbons and even get the Ribbon Cup.
Lillie: Wow, Ash! You really did it!
Ash: I know. My Mom thought that I have some talents as well. I guess this cup also means that I won the Ceolis Grand Festival. Maybe I'm also a Top Coordinator in other regions.
Lillie: I guess you're right about that.
Just then, a lot of fans are chasing after Ash, so Ash and Lillie can only run as they hide from the crowd. They laugh for a while as they hide in the Police Station by wearing police outfits from the chief, and then they go for the next mission.
Case Name: Weakness Police: A group of three individuals has been appearing in the apartment buildings of the Residental District demanding battles from the tenants and guests. These individuals call themselves the "Weakness Police", presumably because they've equipped their Pokemon with Weakness Policies. According to reports, they're not actually dressed as police officers, so it doesn't seem like they're trying to impersonate us. Action still needs to be taken, however. Battles are not allowed in the Residential District outside of emergencies, and this is very disruptive to the residents' lives.
Ash: So the problem is in Residential Area...
Lillie: Weakness Policy is an item to be held by a Pokémon. Attack and Sp. Atk sharply increases if the holder is hit with a move it's weak to.
They manage to get to the area and they enter the first apartment, where a youngster is waiting for them.
Adam: I'm Worm Adam, one of the Weakness Police! It doesn't matter if you live here, work here, came to visit someone, or whatever else the case might be! If you want to get past here, we're going to have to battle!
He is using three Wormadams with different forms, but all of them are easily defeated with the help of Cinderace and Infernape.
Adam: Woah, you're intense! (Recalls Pokemon) I wasn't prepared for that at all. You came at me with a purpose and the drive and skill to back it up. I've got drive too. I want to be an actor someday. But I don't have drive for this whole Weakness Police deal, if I'm being honest. My uncle started this as a training exercise to build up my sister and I's acting experience. But they keep getting more over the top, and I'm definitely not okay with what we're doing. I was too scared to say anything because I don't want him to feel bad, or make it seem like I'm ungrateful when he was trying to help me. But you know what? I am going to say something. I'm an actor, so I just need to act brave! I'm going to ask my uncle and my sister to meet me at the police station so I can tell them everything.
Ash: You know, we are here for the case. (Shows him the badge)
Adam: You're here because this is a police case? I was actually the one who wrote them about it. I was hoping they'd put a stop to this. Thanks for being my sounding board, Ash and Lillie. After you've spoken to all of us, I'd like it if you'd be there at the police station too.
The two of them nod as they continue to find the other members of the Weakness Police. They find the second one in another building.
Ma'am O'Swine: I'm Ma'am O' Swine, a member of the Weakness Police. Living in an apartment in a big city like this isn't for everyone. You could be close enough to someone else's room to hear what's going on in there, which could make it hard to concentrate or sleep. With an apartment room you've rented out, you don't have as much freedom as you would if you owned a home. Let's see if you have the grace and patience to handle it here!
She uses Pignite, Grumpig, and Mamoswine, and Lillie uses Leavanny and Heracross to defeat her.
Ma'am O'Swine: You're not the one I should be concerned about! (Recalls Pokemon) I don't know what it's like to live in an apartment, actually. I was just repeating what I heard others say. But that's not the main issue here. My younger brother wants to be an actor someday, and my uncle set this up as a training exercise for us. Just like my brother wanted to be an actor, I also wanted to be an actress once upon a time. My brother looks up to me a lot, so we ended up sharing a lot of interests. But I'm sure you can guess the keywords were that I wanted to be an actress "once upon a time". My brother kept his passion for acting, and I think he would've ended up being into it even if I never was. But I'm not interested in becoming an actress anymore. Sometimes interests and goals change over time or with life events. Now I'd rather work behind the scenes than be the star of the show. I really love putting together stages. I don't know if saying that when I realized it would have changed anything about this, but I guess I should be upfront about it anyway. What I do know for sure is we shouldn't be bothering anyone like this.
After telling her to meet her brother at the Police Station, Ash and the others leave and head to the final apartment where the boy's uncle is.
Don Phan: I am Don Phan, head of the Weakness Police. Most of the time, if you live in an apartment complex, you're expected to pay rent and follow the rules. One of the rules here is that battling the Weakness Police member assigned to the specific building is required. Without a battle, entry cannot be permitted.
He uses Trevenant, Hariyama, and Donphan to battle, Ash and Lillie use Pikachu and Snowy to defeat all of them.
Don Phan: You have met the requirement and may proceed. (Recalls Pokemon) *sigh*...It's getting difficult to keep up the act. My niece and nephew aspire to be part of the acting scene, so I do training exercises like this to build up their experience. In all honesty, I know little about acting. It's as much a way for me to have something to talk to them about. I want to help them and be part of their lives, but I have little in common with them, sadly. I know it's overzealous to involve innocent passersby in this, but being overzealous was the point. I thought it meant they wouldn't suspect my lack of knowledge or interest in acting. I don't even know who plays or voices the characters in anything I watch. I only know a few household names like Brycen-Man. I'd rather they think I'm too enthusiastic than not enthusiastic at all. That doesn't excuse this at all, though. I think it's best I tell them and turn myself in.
Ash and Lillie then tell him that they work with the police, and they manage to bring the man to the other two in the Police Station. After talking for a while, Adam turns to Ash and Lillie.
Adam: Hey! We all had a long talk about everything. You already know this, but it turns out none of us were fully on board with being the Weakness Police. My sister doesn't want to be an actress anymore, and my uncle doesn't care about acting at all.
Ma'am O'Swine: I thought I was the only one holding onto a secret, but we all had so much bottled up. We'll be able to talk things out better now that we've laid all that on the table.
Don Phan: We explained our situation to the chief, and it's been decided we won't face any legal consequences. But this experience will be very consequential in how we spend time going forward.
Then they are given the Weakness Policy before they leave, and their mission also ends.
Here is a new chapter, and in this chapter, Ash and Lillie have done two missions, and about the contest part, sorry that I rushed it because this game is not made by Pokemon Essentials so that the creator of the game couldn't put any content of Contests into the game, so if there's someone who can help her, just call out to her. (Not me.) And I hope you like this chapter and the next chapter will be exploring the Opaque Valley and Mysterious Mansion.
