Chapter 42 Olidroll City Part 10

After getting back to Recreation Area, Ash and Lillie are inside the Twilight Tavern. They are inside the battlefield and Dylan is waiting for them.

Dylan: I'm guessing you heard the news from Raymond?

Ash: (Both Ash and Lillie nod.) We have heard everything, glad to see that you're safe and no punishment is given to you.

Dylan: I really wasn't expecting it to go that well. I thought about the very least, we'd get our titles revoked and Ceolis would need new Dark and Poison leaders. That thought entered my mind sometimes when I was doing business. That one wrong move could cost us everything we'd worked for. To have it all out in the open and be let go is a huge weight off my shoulders.

Lillie: That's great for you, but where's Tomas? I mean, isn't he with you?

Dylan: Tomas went back to his own gym. It's a ways away from here, but I'm sure you'll reach him eventually. For right now, let's celebrate my staying a leader with a battle!

Referee: The match between Gym Leader Dylan and Challenger Ash is about to begin. Each Trainer will be using 6 Pokemon, and when one side loses all their Pokemon, the other side wins. Now please send out your Pokemon!

Dylan: Now bon appetit. Here is my Whiskey.

As the first Pokemon is Houndoom, Ash goes for Krookodile to battle this Pokemon.

Dylan: Let's go with Nasty Plot!

As the attack raises its Special Attack, it goes for Snarl, and the attack isn't that effective against Krookodile as it is part Dark Type, but it lowers its Special Attack.

Ash: It is a good thing that Krookodile is a Physical Attacker. Use Dig!

Krookodile uses Dig and it goes underground, and then it gets out and hits Houndoom, giving a lot of damage. Houndoom tries to go for Embargo, which prevents Krookodile's glasses from moving.

Ash: You know, I don't really care about using the items. I know that Krookodile's Black Glasses raises the attack of Dark Types, but that doesn't scare me.

Dylan: Oh? You probably are the first one that I've seen so far.

Then Houndoom goes for Incinerate, but Krookodile dodges the attack and uses Stone Edge, in the end, Houndoom is defeated.

Dylan: This will be my second Pokemon, you're probably like it. Milkshake!

The second Pokemon is Obstagoon, which Ash decides to switch out and goes for Machamp.

Lillie: I was thinking that Dylan named his Pokemon with wines, but I guess it is beverages. But those are some surprising nicknames.

Obstagoon starts off with Hone Claws, which boosts the attack stats and accuracy, and it also has Baby-Doll Eyes, lowering Machamp's Attack Stat. And a Body Slam is giving a lot of damage and paralyzes it.

Ash: Stat raising moves for itself, stat lowering moves for my Pokemon...and even paralyze...

Lillie: Ash will be in trouble if this keeps happening...

Just then, Ash is smiling, and this causes Dylan to be confused.

Dylan: What's so funny?

Ash: Since Machamp is paralyzed, which activates its ability, Guts!

Dylan gasps as he doesn't know about the truth, and Machamp goes for Bulk Up, which raises its Attack and Defense, and then it goes for Revenge, which finally defeats Obstagoon.

Dylan: Well, I should have considered that Machamp has the Guts ability...my third Pokemon is going to be Frappe.

The third Pokemon is a Crawdaunt, and it has a Rocky Helmet on it.

Ash: I see you're trying to prevent me from using Fighting Type Pokemon...then I'll go for this Pokemon, Sylveon!

As the Fairy Type Eeveelution appears on the field, Ash goes for Moonblast, which deals a lot of damage to Crawdaunt because of the type advantage. Crawdaunt uses Dragon Dance to raise its ATK and Speed, then it goes for Body Slam, paralyzing Sylveon.

Ash: Sylveon, use Attract!

Just then, Sylveon uses the Normal-Type move and causes Crawdaunt to fall in love, and then it goes for Draining Kiss, and it eventually knocks out Crawdaunt.

Dylan: That seems a tricky move. But Matcha will help me out.

As Shiftry comes out to battle, Sylveon wants to stay on the field, so Ash respects her choice. But it goes for Hurricane, which confuses Sylveon after the damage, and then a Leaf Tornado defeats it in the end.

Ash: I'm sorry, Sylveon. Take a good rest.

Then Ash goes for Crobat to battle the Pokemon. Crobat uses Air Slash to deal a lot of damage to the Pokemon, but it uses Nasty Plot again to recover the Special Attack stat that was lowered because of Leaf Storm.

Lillie: Nasty Plot sure is nasty...I hope Ash can make it...

Much to Ash's delight, Crobat uses Cross Poison to make Shiftry Poisoned, and it finishes it with a Venoshock.

Dylan: Looks like the meal is about to be over. Would you like to have a Punch?

The fifth Pokemon is his Scrafty, and Ash tries to continue using Crobat, but the Sand Attack causes Crobat to be unable to see anything, and with the Crunch, its Defense is lowered time after time, and eventually, Crobat is knocked out by a Head Smash.

Lillie: What's going on? A Fighting Type Pokemon like Scrafty beats a Flying Type like Crobat?

Ash: Looks like he's the first one to have me lost two Pokemon...well, here is Pidgeot.

Ash decides to send out his Pidgeot, and it uses Air Slash and Heat Wave to knock out Scrafty.

Dylan: Sometimes, a full course meal is finished with a beverage, I'll like to present you with Tequilla.

The final Pokemon is Honchkrow, and Ash goes for Eelektross to battle the final Pokemon. With the Sucker Punch, Eelektross is hit before it can do any moves. But it has been lowering its health using Thunderbolt. Honchkrow goes for Roost, but Eelektross uses Rock Slide to knock out the Pokemon in the end.

Referee: Honchkrow is unable to battle, which means the winner of the gym is Ash Ketchum!

Dylan: You live up to my hope! (Recalls Honchkrow) This is pretty much what I expected. I owe you an apology for what I said at the Vitamin Factory when we first met. And I also owe you this.

He gives Ash the Shadow Badge, and Ash takes it and thanks him.

Dylan: Oh, there's something I've been meaning to ask. How is it you found out about us?

Lillie: Well, we did get some help from a girl named Crolea... She is the Steel Type Leader's daughter and also a spy inside of Team Portal, I think she also mentioned how you refused to cooperate with them, right?

Dylan: Team Portal? Yeah, they seem like bad news to me...I heard the BCC was actually them. I think they're getting ready to make a move, so stay on guard.

Ash+Lillie: We will.

After that, they decide to have lunch in the restaurant, with Dylan giving them the best food at the Tavern.

Before leaving, they have some things to do as they go to the Residental Area. They find Natalie who is preparing to leave the city.

Natalie: Oh, hi.

Ash: Natalie, right? (Notices the backpacks.) Where are you going?

Natalie: I'm actually thinking about leaving this city soon. Not that it's bad, it's just somewhere else I'd rather be. Angela, Ceolis' Flying Leader, owns a massive aviary where she takes care of Flying-Type Pokemon. I've always wanted to work there.

Lillie: Oh, right. Your Pokemon are mostly Flying-types. I hope you do it well.

Natalie: (Nods.) And by the way, I don't hold anything against you for the vitamin business. As I mentioned, I was just there because I was asked. And my Pokemon like to play in the underground tunnels, which is why I was asked. I don't have an issue with what Dylan and Tomas were doing, but I'm not emotionally invested in it either.

Ash and Lillie nod as they bid farewell to her, then they also find a man who is surprised to see Ash has both Dylan and Raymond's badges.

Man: Those are the Badges for this city's Gyms! Here you can have this!

He gives them an Evolite, and they accept it.

Man: Evolite raises the defenses of non-evolved Pokemon, letting them stand better against evolved Pokemon.

Ash: Maybe Pikachu can have it since it boosts?

Pikachu shrugs as he is considering trying to hold it, but he already has the Pikachu Mega Stone with him.

After leaving the Residental Area, they think they have explored much of the city.

Ash: Since we are also done with this city, how about we go to the next place?

Lillie: But there is also a Party District. We should check it out.

As they get to the gate of the Party District, they are blocked by an officer.

Officer: Sorry, but if you're looking for the Party District, you're out of luck.

Ash: (Confused.)What happened?

Officer: It's been moved elsewhere!

Lillie: What do you mean moved somewhere? Do you mean the whole Party District is gone?

Officer: Yep, an entire section of the city, literally picked up, and move elsewhere. Don't ask me how.

Lillie: (Lillie and Ash are leaving the gate leading to Party District.) This is weird...I mean, how does the entire section of the city be gone just like that?

Ash: Maybe it is the work of a Legendary Pokemon. I know that Regigigas can do that.

Lillie: But do you think there is something else? I mean...maybe someone is doing that?

Ash: I am not sure. But if we can't go to the Party District, we can just go to the Fork on the Road.

Lillie: I guess that is the only option.

After that, they leave the city and they head north to Fork of the Road.

At the same time, back in Kanto, Delia is now packing up all his stuff, and Professor Oak is helping her since it sure has been a lot of things.

Professor Oak: Are you sure you are going to move away to the Ceolis Region? Delia?

Delia: I am certain. It has been lots of years since I met him...and my two children are also there as well.

Professor Oak: (Sighs as she is referring to her husband.) I see. So where are you going to move in once you get to Ceolis?

Delia: I'm going to South Virima City. I have a lot of friends there who will be helping me.

Professor Oak: I see. I hope everything goes well. (Nods.)

Delia: Of course, but since I'm not living here, are you sure you'll be fine with your lab or anything else?

Professor Oak: Don't worry about me, I still have Gary and Tracy helping me out. You are also a great researcher, Delia. So I trust that you will be doing a perfect job once you get back to Ceolis.

Delia: Thanks, Professor. And I think that's everything that I need to clean...

Professor Oak: (Looks at the empty house) Well, we'll miss you for sure.

Here is a new chapter, Ash got his seventh Gym Badge. But as I said, this game is a game with 18 gyms, so Ash isn't done with the gym challenge. And I decide to have Delia move to the Ceolis Region, because it is the place where Ash is. I can give you spoilers that Ash's next gym will be after the Weather Wonderland. You can guess which type is the gym and what kind of nicknames will the gym leader use.
