Chapter 47 Tinder Forest
Ash and Lillie are now back in the Battle Mall, as they find Kelani and show her the badge.
Kelani: (Greets them) Hi, Ash and Lillie.
Ash: (Shows her the badge) I have the Kickboxing Badge from Lee.
Kelani: Nice job! So Persephone, is Ash worthy enough to battle us now?
Salazzle: LAZZ! (Nods her head in agreement)
Kelani: (Chuckles) Haha, cool. It's a bit cramped in here, and I'd hate to cause any property damage, with this place being new and all.
Lillie: Then how about we go outside? You two can battle there.
Ash, Lillie, and Kelani leave the Battle Mall as they are out in the open, and then Kelani faces Ash with a determined face.
Kelani: Now I should warn you, I'm the top student at the Central Zhyion Poke Institute! Be sure to bring your A-game! Otherwise, you're in for a world of hurt!
Ash: Bring it on, I'll show you why I'm the Monarch in the other 8 regions.
Kelani: This will be my first Pokemon, Nadia!
Then she sends out her first Pokemon, which is a Dragon-Type Pokemon, Shellgon. Ash goes for Grimmsnarl to battle.
Kelani: Of course you have a Fairy Type Pokemon...now I can't use Outrage...
Grimmsnarl goes for Spirit Break, which deals a lot of damage, but Kelani has Shellgon use Rest and then Dragon Dance, powering it up while healing itself. But in the end, it is still defeated by Spirit Break again.
Kelani: Well, that was expected considering my Pokemon's moves aren't good for Fairy Type, but here is my second Pokemon, Starlight.
The second Pokemon is her Galarian Rapidash, and Ash switches into Infernape to battle. Even though Rapidash uses Psycho Cut and High Horsepower to deal a lot of damage, but Infernape uses Dig to deal the same damage back. But after Infernape is hit by Psycho Cut again, Ash smiles.
Ash: Show them your full power!
Infernape's ability activates and it goes for the Flare Blitz, which knocks Rapidash out of the battle, but the recoil damage also causes Infernape to faint in the end.
Kelani: Your Pokemon's Blaze is quite amusing, but that won't stop me from using my third Pokemon, Legiana.
The third Pokemon is Lapras, and Ash goes for Sirfetch'd to battle. The Leaf Blade is dealing a lot of damage, but Lapras uses Thunderbolt to make Sirfetch'd paralyzed.
Kelani: Now that it is paralyzed, let's go with Surf!
Lapras summons a lot of water to deal a lot of damage to Sirfetch'd, but Sirfetch'd also uses Meteor Assault to knock the damage back to Lapras. And in the end, Lapras uses Freeze-Dry and Sirfetch'd uses Brick Break. Both attacks cause a giant blast, and when the dust clears, Lapras is unable to battle while Sirfetch'd is barely standing.
Kelani: Well, it seems like you really like to switch Pokemon, how about letting me trying out your strategy with my Donnie.
The fourth Pokemon is Infernape, and since Sirfetch'd is really tired, so Ash sends out Krookodile. But it is not a good match, as Infernape can use Power-up Punch and Mach Punch at the same time, Krookodile deals a Stone Edge to give Infernape some damage, but it is still knocked out by Overheat.
Lillie: Kelan's Infernape is also as strong as Ash's...
Ash goes for Noivern, even though Infernape also uses Thunder Punch to deal a lot of damage, but Noivern's Roost and Boomburst finish Infernape off.
Kelani: Well, at least I defeat one of your Pokemon. Here is Saweetie!
The fifth Pokemon is Tsareena named Saweetie, and it uses High Jump Kick on Noivern, but Noivern manages to dodge the attack to give it a lot of damage. And Noviern goes for Hurricane, but Tsareena dodges the attack and lands a Knock Off.
Kelani: Use your Trop Kick!
Tsareena kicks at Noivern, but it doesn't seem to do much damage, and Noivern goes for Boomburst, dealing a lot of damage, and then it knocks out with Dragon Pulse.
And the final Pokemon is Persephone, her Salazzle, Ash goes for Greninja to battle.
Kelani: So this is the Greninja that can change the form, right?
Ash: You bet. And we'll show you how it's done.
After changing forms into the Ash-Greninja and goes for Water Shuriken. Salazzle manages to dodge them and goes for Sludge Wave, and Ash can also feel the pain from the Pokemon. Greninja uses Aerial Ace, while Salazzle goes for Hidden Power, much to their surprise the type is Grass.
Lillie: Ash...
Lillie is worried about his strength as Ash is having a lot of damage, but Ash still stands up and finishes Salazzle with the Mega Shuriken.
That was so much fun! (Recalls Salazzle) That was a great battle Ash! Persephone isn't complaining anymore, that's for sure!
Ash: I'm glad I can help. After all, you are strong as well. It is a pleasure to battle someone who gives me a lot of challenges.
Kelani: I have a gift for you Ash, raise her well.
Just then, Ash and Lillie receive a Shiny Salandit, much to their surprise.

Kelani: That girl was a gift from my older sister, however, she didn't realize that I already had Persephone.
Ash: I see you have an older sister, though I have a younger sister and she just left a while ago with Lillie's brother.
Kelani: Oh, you have a sister too? Well, hopefully, I'll get a chance to meet her soon. Anyways, I'm gonna get going now. There are still a few places that I want to check out. We'll run into each other again, I'm sure of it. I'll see you around~
After that, Kelani bids the two farewell.
Lillie: So where are we going next? Should we go back to the Fork on the Road? Or we can just head north to Tinder Forest.
Ash: I say we go to Tinder Forest first.
Ash and Lillie are now in Tinder Forest, they can find some Pokemon in the area.
Lillie: This place sure has a lot of Farfetch'd...both normal and Galarian. I wonder why is that?
Ash: Maybe this place is good to make Tinders? Considering that we are heading north and it is getting a little cooler.
They start to capture and train some Pokemon, the first one being Larvesta, as Ash wants to have a Volcarona considering how strong it is as a Bug Type. The next one is a Scyther, by using the Metal Coat he purchased at the Battle Mall, he evolves it into a Scizor.
Lillie: According to the Zangoose that we met at the Fork at the Road, he said that the reason they were fighting Seviper is because of the earthquakes from Mt. Chimney, so that means both Pokemon aren't really hating each other, right?
Ash: I guess so.
Then Lillie finds a Zangoose and captures it, with Seviper's help of course. And it turns out that they aren't that hostile with each other. And then she captures a Timburr with Vanillish's help, and both Pokemon evolve into Conkeldurr and Vanilluxe in the end. Ash captures an Axew, and by training with Salandit that they have from Kelani, both of them are now a Fraxure and a Salazzle.
Then they also find a Fomantis, and they capture it and train it to become a Lurantis, which Ash remembers the Grass Type Trial back in Alola, and then they also find a Komala, which reminds them of the times when they try to make it wake up

Right now they are inside Tinder Village, as they can see a lot of people sitting at the fire.
Lillie: It really is Tinder...
Ash: I know.
They see a ranger sitting as they join him, and the Ranger also gives them a gift.
Ranger: We don't have much in the way of technology here, but we have perfected the HM for Cut. With our version of HM, you don't even need to have a Pokemon learn the move to cut down the tree. You can do it yourself! (Hands over HM01 Cut to Ash and Lillie) I doubt you'll find too many stray trees around here, but it might come in handy somewhere. And if not, you can still teach it to your Pokemon for battle.
Then they also talk to a girl, who is sitting next to a ranger.
Girl: There's a flame dancer from Alola named Kiawe. He's pretty well-known over there since he's also a Trial Captain. I bet he couldn't beat Ashley, though!
Ash: I'm not so sure about it, right Lillie?
Lillie: But it will be interesting to see them battling together...
After they stay for a while, and then they find a Hex Maniac
Girl: Hello. Would you happen to have a Stick?
Ash: (Take the Stick.) I have one.
Girl: (Takes the Stick from Ash and puts it into the fire). I'm not sure what Sticks mean to you, but here, we use them for firewood. A powerful Pokemon gives us fire energy, so they don't burn out too fast or burn out of control. We call this energy Pyro Mist. But since fire can't exist without fuel, we still have to gather wood. The Farfetch'd in the forest help us with this.
Lillie: I see.
Girl: In exchange for the Stick, I'll give you this, I don't need it.
Ash and Lillie receive a Marble and they put it into their pockets. They also notice a speaker near the fireplace, and the voice appears again.
Mysterious Voice: It sure is warm and cozy here near the fire!
After that, they go into a house, and they find a worried man.
Man: There's a Cyndaquil that likes to play in the village, but sometimes it wanders far off. I haven't seen it since yesterday. It's not my Pokemon, but I'm still worried about it getting into trouble. If you find it, could you bring it back here?
Ash: Where is the Cyndaquil?
Man: It usually goes off to the fork near Olidroll. Last time it went east.
Lillie: Okay.
And before they are leaving the village, they go to the Pokemon Center to hear some news.
