Chapter 4
So going off of this idea I put my hands in a spiderman pose, which I believe is what foxy does in canon, and yell with all my might "Slow-Slow Beam!"
As I yell this suddenly, I feel as if some unknown energy is leaving my hand, going into my outwards facing fingers, and then exploding outwards into space.
As I feel this new sensation, I can see purple energy rings forming a large cone shape that's moving at a relatively fast speed towards the giant.
He was clearly not expecting this, so he doesn't even react as the energy reaches him and the next second all I see is an extremely slow-moving man coming towards me with a stupid face that's full of surprise. He was apparently in the process of lifting his arms to protect himself because all I see are a pair of extremely slow-moving arms.
As I see this happening I stop walking backwards and just stand there in amazement at what I am seeing.
It's one thing to see this on tv and think it funny but seeing this in real life is a whole other ballpark.
I mean it still looks stupid and dumb, but at the same time its amazing since this is basically time manipulation, and in my previous world this was only seen in fiction and in the imagination of people, but now in front of me stood a 12-foot giant moving at a pace that even snails would be able to outpace him.
As I am mesmerized by this scene, I quickly snap out of it because I remember that the timer for this thing is 30 seconds and it's already been like 15 seconds.
Therefore, I quickly bring my hands up again and quickly say again, "slow-slow beam," and again "slow-slow beam".
This does the trick because I can barely see him moving at all now, it seems like he is completely still, and that should give me 30 seconds again, I think.
As I see this happening, I quickly come up with a plan of action on what to do to this guy and just as the original foxy, I go up to the guy, barely reaching his chest, and start punching him in his gut as hard as I can.
I would go for the balls since they are so easy to reach with his stature, but I would feel bad because this guy really didn't do too much to upset me… I mean it was disgusting and evil that he just killed that guy foxy so easily and he even seemed happy about it, but in the end, I didn't really like that guy and I don't even know him so… also if what I believe is true and I am in One Piece then it wouldn't be a stretch to say that what happened here is a very common occurrence, so I best get used to it.
And as I'm punching him in the same spot over and over again, I quickly notice that my arms feel like they are in better shape and my body in general feels lighter when I move to throw a punch.
They don't particularly look more muscular, in fact I would say they in fact look skinnier and slenderer, but the strength generated Is somehow greater than what seems to be possible.
This feeling of strength amazes me because I was never really fit and so I quickly enjoy this feeling of my body feeling like a well-oiled machine.
All of this enjoyment however comes crashing down because I remember where I am, and it's clear that I'm still pretty goddamn weak by the standards of this world.
As can be attested by the bulging muscles of this guy in front of me, even though he said that he only had a 25 million belly bounty. Which as all fans of the show know…IS COMPLETE TRASH!
Anyways, after a while of losing myself in my thoughts while punching this guy as hard as I can, time finally catches up to me and the guy that I've been punching for a while suddenly gets sent flying back like a cannonball and rams right into a rock that was right by the ledge of the cliff.
It luckily only shatters halfway and prevents his body from falling down into the steep rocks below.
As I see this phenomenon I'm amazed because seeing a 12-foot giant go cannonballing back at a few hundred miles per hour is fucking amazing!
As I was celebrating my victory, I hear a "UGGH" from the giant as he seems to still be conscious taking all of that beating to the gut, I'm surprised the fucker can even breath.
Just as I was about to repeat the process, but this time to his head, I hear a woman yell to the right of me, "O-Oh w-wait a second!"
After turning around to face the approaching woman I can undoubtedly say that this is one of the most beautiful women I've ever come across.
As I examine her further, I can quickly tell that she has clearly been crying over the bleeding corpse of that guy named foxy, which as far as I can remember makes sense since I remember this chick being pretty loyal to the guy, even going so far as doing stupid things in order to get his approval...
"What is it?" I reply curiously since I doubt she wants me to have mercy on him; and yes, I wasn't going to have mercy on him, I don't personally believe in giving all that many chances to people who are clearly bad.
I mean this guy wanted to gang-rape this woman and mind break her into being a sex slave for fun or something, which according to many including myself, is one of the most sinful and disgusting acts a man can do.
Also, like previously stated, this is the One Piece world…Need I say more? Ok, bloodthirsty Pirates, bloodthirsty Marines, casualty accepting Revolutionaries, slaving Celestial Dragons…need I go on?
Anyways the gist is that bloodshed in this world is extremely common…I still remember the fight between Ace and Black beard on an occupied island, two individuals with extremely powerful devil fruits fighting, one is even a decent fellow and as can be clearly seen in the anime, he didn't give a shit about civilians and innocent bystanders when he was fighting his enemy.
Which again makes sense, since 1 millisecond of inattention is all that is needed in this world to decide on the winner and the loser (Only for top fighters of course).
All that this means in the end is that it is extremely common for mass casualties to occur when powerful figures are fighting nearby, or a bunch of cannon fodders are involved which usually leads to more direct encounters.
As I digress, the woman that If I remember correctly is called Porche continues talking "H-he k-killed b-boss, P-please sir I want to be the one to e-end him".
As I process what she just requested I widen my eyes slightly but then nod my head in understanding.
Chapter 5
As I digress, the woman that If I remember correctly is called Porche continues talking "H-he k-killed b-boss, P-please sir I want to be the one to e-end him".
As I process what she just requested I widen my eyes slightly but then nod my head in understanding.
*Splash*
That was the sound of a large corpse being tossed over a cliff into the water.
After Porche asked me to let her finish off the long-armed giant I acquiesced and let her have her revenge.
Which she did by repeatedly bashing in his skull with the end of her baton over and over again until there was nothing, but bloody pulp left, this display of brutality honestly made me a bit wary and disgusted of this girl; but I understand that she is venting.
I remember that in the anime she used to always support and look after that foxy guy whenever anyone said something that depressed him.
I don't really know their backstory and why she is so loyal to him but its clear as day now to me that something important must have happened between them in order for it to be this intense.
Anyways, now that the giant disfigured corpse of the long-armed man is gone from our view all that's left in its place is two very awkward people standing there with another rotting corpse laying not far away from them.
Therefore, in order to get things moving along I choose to say something first "*cough*, well miss I'm glad you got your revenge for your friend there, but if you would be so kind as to point me in the direction of the closest town?"
As she hears this, she stares at me unblinkingly for a bit before replying "O-oh yeah, yeah there is a small town in that direction" as she points to her right.
As I see this, I nod my head and start heading in that direction, leaving her there with a simple "thanks".
As I get out of range of her sight I quickly go into a nearby bush and once again puke my guts out, all of this bloodshed in the first five minutes of me being awake is really getting to me.
I then lay my back on a tree and start to think of what just transpired and the crazy situation that I found myself in.
"Hua, well I was just an associate to murder… and most importantly I somehow got transmigrated into the One Piece world. I somehow have the powers of the slow-slow fruit, which to be honest is not all that bad of a fruit, and I'm sure that the possibilities are immense with this fruit… I highly doubt that the previous owner did all that much to push the limits of his powers. If I remember correctly, he was much busier and interested in building worthless machines that can only get one so far and increasing his pirate groups numbers instead of training to be strong individually."
As I say this, it quickly reminds me that I'm actually not in my own body, which then leads me to patting myself all over the place in order to check if everything is as it should be and thankfully everything is alright.
Compared to my previous body I seem to be more muscular with a somewhat lean figure, I also seem to be pretty young according to my skin texture, probably about 15 or 16 if I were to guess, which is a bit younger than I was in the past, which is 23.
"I seem to be Caucasian with black hair, and I am not sure of what my eye color is, I'll look into it later... I also seem to be a bit tall for someone so young (6 feet tall) but in this world that wouldn't apply. Oh, and look at that! I seem to have also grown a bit down there! I also appear to be human, at least I don't see anything out of place".
As I'm done examining myself, I'm pretty content with my body, I believe myself to be a human and not something else human looking like the three-eyed clans' people or something.
All I need to know now is how I got into this body or if I can't find that out then what this bodies real identity is, after all I seem to be suffering from selective amnesia and unfortunately my name is one of many victims and I don't think it will come back anytime soon, if ever. Also, it would be good if this body already has one, if only to clear my conscience a bit, I will prefer to use it.
Again, I'm not sure if I died and somehow stole this guy's body but that seems to be a recurring theme in Isekai so I wouldn't be too surprised if that is what happened, "heh, or maybe this guy died from the shit taste of the devil fruit and had a heart attack or something and my soul replaced his, I don't know."
Anyways now that I am content with the skin that I'm currently wearing it's time to check the most important aspect of this body for this world, the devil fruit powers.
Chapter 6
Anyways now that I am content with the skin that I'm currently wearing it's time to check the most important aspect of this body for this world, the devil fruit powers.
After that thought I quickly raise my right hand in the gesture of spiderman and consciously shoot a beam towards a swarm of flies not far from me. I quickly look over and I am again floored to see how everything around the area slows down significantly, even some falling leaves that were caught in the beam's path.
It's simply a mesmerizing sight, everything looks like it's in slow motion and caught in some otherworldly space; it's extremely funky looking.
I quickly get up and walk towards the small swarm of insects and start looking very closely, the effects are amazing and it's clear that everything around them seems super slow, they don't even immediately react as I go up to them, something that flies are known to do; yet a few seconds later they seem to react to my presence and start trying to fly away from me, but with very little success.
I then grab one of the falling leaves in the air and see if I can pull it towards me and no, I am having tons of trouble bringing it towards me. I can move it a bit, but it feels like I'm pulling a large fridge or something.
"This is amazing, even something as tiny as a leaf weighs a ton," just as I say this the 30 seconds seemingly run out and everything goes back to normal speed, the flies fly away afraid of my presence and the leaf once again feels weightless to my hands.
As I do this a few more times to the environment around me I suddenly think of something, "Didn't I feel this energy coming out of my hand? So, this means that I can interact with it in some manner…"
Yes, earlier when I first performed the 'Slow-Slow Beam' I did indeed notice that the energy seeped out of my hands in order to create light waves. Also, another thing that I found strange at the time is the speed of the beam, it was super slow compared to how fast light is meant to be.
As I think of this for a bit, I come to the conclusion that the photons in the light beam are likely pushing against all of the atoms in the environment so much that it slows them down to being visible to the eye.
Another aspect of the theory is that the frequency and pattern of the light beam might somehow affects its moving speed and how it interacts with the environment, after all the natural form of this energy is a circle with an opaque filling, which is like a film of some sort that makes everything inside the area become slow it also gives it much more area to cover (a disk).
After a few more observations I quickly noticed another feature of this power, if I only encompass one part of a plant, like the stem for example, then the flower will still sway naturally to the wind.
As I make these observations, I quickly come to the conclusion that I'm actually shooting out vertical disks towards my target, which if anyone knows anything about basic physics, is not the correct way to do it. Imagine throwing a frisbee vertically, it would probably go about a foot and fall right at your feet.
As I come to this conclusion, I quickly bring up my right arm, make the spiderman pose, and try to consciously believe that the beam will be tilted downwards 90 degrees to its previous position making it parallel to the ground and whisper "slow-slow beam!"
The results are something miraculously different, there were no visible disks or anything, only a short spurt of purple light and then nothing.
As I look towards the targeted area, I'm amazed to see that a horizontal line of slowed down time is visible all around me, everything around me seems to be separated into two distinct regions, the lower half separated by the slow photons in the middle and then the upper half.
I walk towards a small lizard that I caught on its head in order to examine what happens to living organisms when I use the power this way, and I am once again amazed by what I found.
Its Struggling, as it should, its bottom half is moving to and fro desperately trying to get away from what is happening, yet it cannot move, since the affected area is keeping it anchored, the amazing thing however is that over a short period of time it seems to be asphyxiating or something because its eyes are hemorrhaging at a stupendous rate and soon after, it just goes limp.
I observe the effect closely and it seems unlike the original effect where body parts can move very slowly but still visibly, this time it seems like the parts hit are actually completely frozen in time.
I then begin counting the time for the effect to run out and I am again amazed to find that the affected parts remain frozen for 3 whole minutes!
This breaks all known knowledge of how the slow-slow fruit is supposed to work, but I guess it makes sense.
Firstly, there wasn't much screen time for this fruit in the anime, secondly as previously stated the previous user wasn't very smart, and lastly scientifically it makes sense.
The number of photons remains constant, but the area of collision is much smaller, this means that the concentration of photons is much higher.
This sudden discovery opens up a lot of possibilities for the future me, who knows I might just be able to create devastating attacks with this knowledge.
