Revy.

Little Whinging, Surrey was a large built-up town consisting of neighbourhoods filled with houses built to the same specifications. Many of the different neighbourhoods followed the unspoken rules of suburbia where the residents used their homes, their gardens, and their cars as weapons to outdo one another. In Privet Drive, in the Fourth house, there lived the Dursley family. Outwardly the Dursleys were seen as highly respectful, with the patriarch, Vernon Dursley as the managing director of Grunnings, a technical company which manufactured drills, which made him an employer in the town and in a few others outside Little Whinging. Vernon lived with his wife Petunia, and their son Dudley.

The Dursleys lived in a fairly nice house, and in a fairly nice neighbourhood. But they were not nice people; Vernon was arrogant, pompous, bigoted and believed only white British people and views mattered above all else. Petunia was a spying harpy who regularly eavesdropped and spied on her neighbours and gossiped with other like-minded women, but she was as bigoted as her husband, only she was far more bitter. Due to the toxic environment of his parents, Dudley Dursley had known no other life. When he was younger, he frequently kicked and screamed at his mother, demanding sweets, chocolates, toys, and heaven alone knew what else, and nothing was done to curb his bad habits. To make matters worse, Dudley had come to believe his parents would never punish him, and they foolishly believed he was just rambunctious whenever someone came to accuse him of bullying.

Or at least they had.

The Dursleys liked to see their son as the brightest boy in the world, but in truth, Dudley was extremely boorish, rude, and loud, but he was also very, very stupid.

But the Dursleys had a secret. There was a fourth person at the house, someone they tried to keep hidden from the outside world although it had failed when they knew they had to send her to school.

Rose 'Revy' Potter, nicknamed because when she lost her temper, she often made a growling noise like the sound of a revving car or motorcycle, was the daughter of Petunia's dead sister, Lily. The Dursleys never really spoke much about her, not even when the girls' frequent rages which involved her throwing herself at the one who annoyed or pissed her off, involved her getting into trouble.

Everyone on the street knew that Rose was hated and feared by her relatives, and the last person who tried to scold her by saying she should be grateful to the Dursleys ended up having to have a dentist bill paid to her by a very embarrassed, terrified and frightened Vernon after Rose smashed her teeth in by kicking her mouth into a concrete curb. After that, everyone knew to keep clear of the insane girl.

But at the same time, there were moments where the Dursleys did push the girl too far, especially Vernon whenever he was able to gather his courage and attack her, and one night he pushed too far.

It was their undoing.

Despite her frustration with the never-ceasing war she had to fight living in Little Whinging, Rose was currently munching on her food, knowing the Dursleys would love to take it from her, but after a fit of rage and after Vernon's arm was broken with a very loud snap, the Dursleys had realised she was not going to tolerate anyone taking her food from her, and she wanted to have a full meal. Each time they tried to make her eat scraps after her 'awakening,' the time where a couple of years ago, Revy had suddenly snapped and suddenly lost it whenever she was pushed, she made them regret it.

Rose remembered what she had been like back then, so weak, gullible when it came to the hope the Dursleys would accept her when in fact deep down inside her, she knew they wouldn't. They hated her for reasons she presently couldn't work out, and right now she had long since stopped caring. Thanks to those powers, she had quickly scared the Dursleys into submission, and Rose liked that feeling of putting them in their places. All she knew was, one night after a particularly savage beating, she had gone to bed if indeed you could call that damn cot in the cupboard, a bed, and then suddenly she was furious and in her rage, she attacked the Dursleys. From there it had spiralled out of control, but with each attack, she launched against the Dursleys, and the neighbours who helped them in some way, Rose lashed out against those who'd oppressed her in the past. She didn't discriminate and she really did not care about what happened after.

The Dursleys were scared of her, and Rose enjoyed being feared. It gave her a sense of pleasure, and for once she realised why Dudley had never stopped. But she wasn't a senseless, heartless bully. Rose did try to be kind, and once she had beaten it into the minds of Dudley and his gang never to interfere, she had helped the younger kids. She never made friends. Rose had long since lost interest in friendship with the mundane, boring kids in Little Whinging. They viewed her as a freak, and she wanted nothing to do with them. In truth, Rose had embraced being someone different, unique.

Occasionally the Dursleys did try to regain control. They failed. They had already lost control of the situation. They were simply just too stupid to realise the truth.

Uh oh, it looked like it was going to be one of those nights. Rose was keeping a close watch on the Dursleys. After she did the washing up - the only chore she allowed herself to enjoy, especially after she poisoned a large flower bed and froze Petunia and Vernon for a full hour - Rose would retreat to the bedroom that had originally been Dudley's, and she would read a book.

But there were times, like this one, where the Dursleys tried to fight back. And it looked like they were preparing for it. Despite her anger that the Dursleys simply would not leave her alone, Rose pretended not to notice, it was more fun when they attacked her, and then they understood the depths of their mistake.

After they were finished, Rose quietly started washing up, keeping her muscles tense and ready for action. She had noted the Dursleys being nervy, and impatient for the last few days, and she wondered what they had in mind this time. When she was finished, she reached out and plucked an apple and a banana from the fruit bowl - a new addition to the Dursley house; fresh fruit and vegetables were not on the cards for the Dursleys. They were hers. She refused to eat the fatty, oily foods the Dursleys called a diet. While she liked meats and fats like everyone else, she refused to look anything like Dudley.

Rose frowned. It had suddenly gone quiet in the house. It was now or never. She closed her eyes and ground her teeth together, her breathing suddenly transforming into a low growl. She was tired of it. She moved slowly to the kitchen door, only to find a long dark gun barrel sticking into her face.

"Enough is enough, you freak!" Vernon growled while he tried to be frightening, but he came off as lame.

The sight of the gun barrel sticking into her face angered Rose. "Where did you get that thing?" She demanded, knowing now what the Dursleys planned to do, and out of the corner of her eye, she saw the looks of fear but joyful anticipation on Dudley and Petunia's faces.

"DON'T ASK QUESTIONS! It's time for you to stop this….this nonsense, or I'll shoot you!" Vernon suddenly screamed.

Rose's teeth grinding became visible, and suddenly Petunia and Dudley no longer looked hopeful. "No."

"No?" Vernon was stunned, he hadn't expected this.

Rose's anger began to burn within her. It had been sparked by the knowledge they were planning something to do to her, the sudden quietness in the house, and lastly this threat. Fuck it, she really did not have time for this pointless waste of time. Every time the Dursleys were pushed down, they sprang up whenever their courage returned to them.

She'd had enough of the Dursleys, she'd had enough of the neighbourhood and the people within it. Every day she was here, some new conflict occurred

She called upon her anger, relishing in its cold, fiery darkness, fuelling her rage against these….these pigs who had beaten and degraded the old Rose, who let them walk all over her until she died and replaced her with herself. In the back of her mind, Rose heard a voice goading her into striking them down for good. Compelled as she was by that rage, Rose found it hard to resist. "I said NO! Nothing is gonna change, so why fucking bother?"

Vernon's face went slack at the unexpected curse, but his eyes narrowed even more than usual and he lashed out.

Rose screamed in sudden pain when Vernon swung the gun around so fast she barely noted it and used the stock to club her in the mouth. She fell backwards onto her backside, clutching her mouth. She tasted the familiar iron-coppery taste of blood in her mouth, but she felt something hard in her mouth and realised the fat pig had knocked out one of her teeth. A part of her wondered if he'd done that deliberately to pay her back for forcing him to pay the dental bill a few months back, but her sudden rage made exploded within her soul.

Vernon moved forward and grabbed her by the arm, knocking the fruit out of her hands as he did so. As far as he was concerned, the freak wouldn't be eating good food like that. No, she would be eating scraps.

Vernon snapped out of his fantasy when his arm caught fire, and so did his family and much of the house itself. They screamed in pain as they tried to shake their burning limbs, but the fire was coming from within them, and it was spreading fast throughout their bodies. Rose massaged her jaw when she was let go, spitting out her tooth, and she turned a furious look at the Dursleys.

"AHH, YOU'VE FUCKING DOWN IT NOW!" Rose shrieked and she reached out her hands, letting her rage and pain flow through her. The Dursleys clutched their throats as they choked to death while the freak yelled and shouted at them as she crushed their larynxes - a monstrous, animalistic, bestial sound that sounded like an angry animal bellowing into the night, and they gurgled in agony as the fire reached their organs and boiled them in their own fluids. They knew they were dying, and they didn't want to die, but they couldn't prevent everything from going dark around them.

Rose let her hands drop and she studied the Dursleys as the fire began to spread throughout their bodies, and she noticed that the walls were smouldering and the air was becoming thick with smoke. She dimly realised that her anger had somehow transferred over to the house, but she didn't care about that; she was too busy looking down at the Dursleys in shock at what she had done. They were burning to death from the fire she'd lit within all three of them, and the fire was getting worse.

She backed away, horrified by what she had just done, even as the fire spread to the rest of the house.

Author's note - Title aside, while this story is inspired by Black Lagoon, it is not a crossover. Revy is one of my favourite characters, so it's great to base her character on a version of femHarry.
