Chapter 2: And Then I was Reborn

[Welcome Gamer... Your adventure awaits.]

As soon as I heard the voice I felt myself fall and saw the world go black like the void I once was in. Hatchet seemed to be laughing like an amused granddad and I, embarrassingly, fell, discovering at that point that gravity or the floor wasn't a thing here. How you may ask? Well I figured this out on my fifth flip as Hatchet was sitting in the air and was slapping his knee laughing at this point. Even Magna was laughing pretty hard too. Felt like I was the butt of the joke and I wasn't a fan of it at all.

"IT'S NOT FUNNYYYYY! OH GOD I'M GONNA THROW UP! CAN I EVEN THROW UP?! HELP ME STOP!" I yelled out to the both of them like a kid throwing a temper tantrum, but come on wouldn't you when you were spinning uncontrollably?

"Ahahahahahaha! Oh come one kid, you gotta admit this is pretty funny right? I mean your like a baby that can't walk." I yelled "Hey!" at him, but he continued like it wasn't a factor. "Look all you gotta do is lean your body the opposite direction you are spinning. Right now you are unbalanced and you need to get balanced, otherwise we'll be here all eternity watching you spin like a top. Not that it ain't funny or anything. Reminds me of my grandson when he started flying, except you aren't smacking your face into the ground." I growled a bit as I started to lean against the direction I was spinning and eventually I was able to stop myself and I was now looking at Hatchet. Now able to fully focus on my surroundings I find myself in this same black void that I was in before Hatchet found me and then I noticably frown at this.

"Hatchet, Magna, why are we back here? I just got out of this place I don't wanna come back..." He looked around a bit more, but then decided to focus on Hatchet as he was the only thing here other than him and the infinite black.

"Well I think I'll leave the explaining to Magna here. I'll jump in if she misses anything and we'll get you set on the straight and narrow. Magna, the floor is yours!" Hatchet then pulls out a canned coffee out of the nowhere he puts his hands into. What is that anyway? I hope I get that on my travels.

[That would actually be a part of the base system that you will soon call your own. By the way, it is very nice to meet you! I'm Magna, the system that Hatchet took from a rogue gamer. I look forward to working with you!]

"Rogue Gamer'? What is a Rogue Gamer?" I ask with understandable confusion. I wouldn't want to be deemed a rogue gamer by mistake in the future so I best get all my ducks in a row.

[A rogue gamer is someone who breaks the laws of the Gamers. You see each Gamer is give their own set of universes and they can go to any they wish to go to at anytime when requirements are met. Some of these universes are interactible with other Gamers and so it is not unheard of for Gamers to then meet in these worlds and form parties to go into other worlds that are off limits to them. Rogue Gamers ruin the spirit of the game and they actively destroy everything other players have built. The most notorious rogue Gamer was know as TouchMe and he...]

"TouchMe? What kinda stupid name is that?!" I then grabbed the back of my head as I felt what must have been the equivalent of a psychic slap.

[Don't interrupt! That is rude! Anyway TouchMe was a Rogue Gamer that was a notorious PK enthusiast, or Player Killer. He would find low level Gamers and offer to help them out and when he would gain their trust he would go to their home worlds with them. When he did he would then leave the party and then proceed to slaughter everyone the player would form a relationship with and then break them. He called it his "special time" and when he was done he would kill them. Hatchet here actually took care of him around 2000 years ago.]

At this point Hatchet spoke up and gave a nod as well. "Ate his soul and everything. His powers became mine and I gained a dramatic boost in power. Not saying you'll get a similar ability to me, but it is possible, kid. I wouldn't worry too much though about Rogue Players, you'll likely never see them till you unlock a hub world and that will be when you technically finish a world. I brought you here because I started in Skyrim and when I finally beat it I was already in the level 900s area. You'll be a force at that point don't worry." He drank his coffee and then threw me one after doing so. I gotta say I really appreciate the time with how thorough they are being. I would have thought that I would have been told to sink or swim and they are being really helpful.

[Well you deserve the time we are taking out for you. Wouldn't want you to lose out on all the fun stuff and go back to being in Limbo. Like you were before I was amazed that you weren't broken beyond repair. You must have slept through a lot of it and that makes you EXTREMELY Lucky... in fact.]

For being found by the cosmic lottery Luck has been increased by 40 points!

Well how about that?

Reaching 50 in luck has granted the player the prestige ability "Rabbit's Foot"

Rabbit's Foot: Rare+ Loot drops, Events, Perks, and money increased by 25%!

"That is AWESOME!" I Nearly spit my coffee when I seen that. After coughing it down a bit and then rereading the name of the perk I looked back to Hatchet and the metaphorical space where I put Magna. "How often and good are loot drops?! This perk might be amazing if it will give me an edge from the get go!"

Hatchet chuckles and then looks at me and then says. "So you got Rabbit's Foot before you even get to character selection. You're gonna have a blast with that kid."

[Haha... I am glad you like it, but now yes it is time to do character creation and then get ready for your tutorial as well. Now let's start with character creation. The first thing you want to do is build what you look like as well as check out your stats, pick a race, and then see about doing some extra rolls!]

"Extra rolls? You know what nevermind I'll figure it out when we get there." I say with a grin and then get ready to get started on this. As I say that a screen pops up and I see what I apparently looked like before. Not really fretting on that since I wanna make myself look a lot more attractive. I may go for a mix build on what I wanna do in here. "Hmm... maybe a swimmers body or something like that. It would make me more agile and less clunky, but then I may get overpowered a lot too. I may be overthinking it as well. I don't wanna make a twig, but then have the strength to punch apart a mountain. Although that would be funny!"

Eventually I decide on a tall body around 7'2" and then set my eyes to a heterochromic look, one eye being green like trees and the other being as blue as a clear sky. My hair comes down to the small of my back and is a crimson red. I look really cool for a human dude and now I have to decide... Beard or no beard? I eventually grab the beard and get nice bit of hair on my face. Not too long and not too wild either, but enough to where if I want to shave it I can atleast grow it back later and have something to mess with. I finally get to my race and then I look at the options and I get a lot of the Skyrim Races at the start. I have the elves, high, wood, Dark, Orcs, Nords, bretons, Redguards, etc. You know standard stuff! I then spy something interesting though...

Spin to win on the multiversal Race table!

My curiosity is getting the best of me and I end up clicking that and as I do a screen pops into view.

Are you sure you want to do this? It is highly possible you can get a race like tadpole and then end up losing before you begin.

If you wish to continue then please click "Yes", if you wish to go back then click "No"!

I think I may have been a gambler in a past life because I am less deterred and more excited than I was before. Honestly this feeling of my heart pumping after 12,000 years is so exhilarating! With a hand that is shaking like a leaf from anticipation I click yes and then immediately Hatchet spits coffee. "KID! You really chose the 'Random Race option'?! Are you crazy?!"

I understandably get startled, but it is too late to take it back and then I watch as it spins and spins and spins...

Spin Spin Spin! Let's See what you WIN?!

DING!

Your new race is Blacklight Virus!

[Oh my... It seems we have a winner Hatchet!]

Hatchet and me look at the stats dumbly and then look at each other. He then looks to see my body now morph to my new height and look and then he looks a bit closer. He clicks his tongue and then turns back away with a relieved laugh coming through his mouth. "Damned Rabbit's Foot! You crazy kid. I thought I was gonna be reviving you from a stupid mistake!" He then laughs a bit harder as I laugh with him and then my voice scares me as it seems a bit deeper than before. I wasn't expecting that at all.

After we laughed at that for awhile I then let myself float in relief as the other two stayed around me and Hatchet looked at me with a quizzical look. "So Kid what is your new name gonna be?"

"Can't I just use my old name?" I replied, but evidently that was wrong as he looked at me and then raised an eyebrow.

"Come on kid. This is a new life and new you. You'll wanna be making it feel like one more and more with no regrets. Your old name will give you something to look back on and wallow in. Try out a new one and just sift through your memories when you have the time to reorganize everything." He says with a softer voice than before and I then sit their and think on a new name after I realize he is kinda right. It may not be immediate, but eventually I would look back on my old life and be reminded of it with my name wherever I go. After a little more thought I smile and then wave my hand in front of my name plate.

New Name Chosen: Bjorn Firemane

Is this the name you wish for? Yes/No

I click yes and then my sheet changes to match that as my name. I give a smile and then look at Hatchet with a proud face. He raised a brow after looking above my head and then spoke. "Well... it is very Skyrim-y."

My face falls and then I look at him with a deadpan expression.

[I think it is a nice name. It is really cute and fierce!]

"Thank you Magna. Someone appreciates it!" I look at Hatchet and he just chuckles and then looks to me with a shiteating grin. "At least it isn't TouchMe. Can't get worse than that, even though this is a close second." I respond to his jab with a growl and then look at my hands. I feel great honestly. Never thought I could feel this good.

[Okay! Now it is time for your bonus skills of Gamer's Mind and Gamer's Body and Observe!]

Gamer's Mind: Keeps the player in a state of mind where they can think logically and shields them from mental attacks and manipulation.

Gamer's body: This gives the player's body the qualities of a RPG Character. Sleep is optional, but has benefits. This is the same with both eating and drinking.

Observe: This allows the player to gain information on a target with a glance. It will let you see the stats as well as some information about them as well as their emotions towards you. Beings past a certain level threshold are unreadable until the Player has made it to a certain level range.

[... Anddd there we goooo. So now let's get you your first quest and we can start the tutorial now Bjorn! Are you excited?!]

Her peppy attitude is honestly infectious. I can feel Magna give me a mental smile at that thought and then a window forms in front of my eyes.

Quest Alert: Tutorial

Now that you are done with Character creation it is time to do the tutorial and learn the system. This will be a very easy task and Magna really hopes you will read the system carefully.

Objectives: Grasp basic knowledge!

Reward: 100 Xp, 1 Gacha coin, ?, ?

Failure: Stay here and listen to Hatchet talk about his grandkids and stories of him growing up.

I gave Hatchet a look and he raised an eyebrow at that and then looked at me. "What's wrong Bjorn?"

"If I fail this you really won't tell me stories about your Grandkids and your life as a kid right?" Hatchet's only response was to grin like a cat that caught the canary. This actually made me gulp. I clicked accept and then the screen flashed.

Welcome to the Game! Let's get started shall we? First say "Menu" please.

"Menu."

Main menu

Stats

Quests

Skills

Inventory

Now say "Stats"!

"Stats."

Strength: This stat determines how hard you hit and how much you can lift and throw. *Note: Some perks may supercharge these stats. Unarmed hits and melee do (Dmg+Str)*2

Agility: This stat increases speed and flexibility. Your ability to move quickly and silently is determined by this stat.

Dexterity: This stat helps with ranged attacks and moving quickly with your hands. This also calculates throw distance by using (Str+Dex)/2= distance in feet.

Constitution: This stat is all about health and how tough you are! The more you get in this stat the more of a beefcake you can be! This stat also helps out with poisons and other such things as well. Gives you a natural resistance as well as increases your Stamina.

Intelligence: How smart are you academically? Well this stat will help you out with that. This stat is all about knowledge and booksmarts. Increasing this stat also increases your Magika as well.

Wisdom: Insert Poetry and other life lessons here. In all seriousness though Intelligence is book smarts and this here is street smarts. Wisdom allows you to make great decisions in the heat of the moment and also increases how aware you are of situations!

Charisma: The Party face one might say. This stat can easily turn you into a swav individual. High points in this will make you quite the ladykiller or the brobedder. Whichever way you swing! This will also help you with prices in shops and how much you can sell items for and getting your way in the political world.

Luck: Three people flip a coin. "I call heads!" "I call tails!" "I call neither!" Then it lands on it's side and suddenly you win! This stat is all about how lucky/unlucky you are. Lady Luck is very fickle too and will turn something that is very lucky into something that is a danger for your health if you mess up. Be careful Player!

Well these seem pretty basic. I can see who put their input into the description easily. I bet Hatchet did half and Magna did the other. Mannn this is gonna be weird isn't it? "Okay what's next?!"

Say "Settings" now Gamer!

"Settings."

Settings

Brightness: 50/100

Color: 67/100

Contrast: 58/100

Difficulty: [Locked]

Subtitles: Off

Minimap: Off

"Minimap on please!" As soon as I said that there was a map in the corner of my screen. It was like it was there, but I could see it and yet I can't. It is weird, but I am obviously gonna need this so it is best to turn it on.

For thinking ahead the Gamer now earns a +1 in Wis! Great job Gamer! Now say "Quests"

"Awesome! Oh and 'Quests'!"

Quests: This area is where all your quests will be stored. It is best to finish all your quests so you don't get cluttered, but multiple quests do happen from time to time.

Now say "Skills"

"Skills!"

Skills: In this location all of your skills will be kept. In here you can check progress on levels for them and it is also possible to create new skills just by applying yourself or absorbing a skill book!

Now say "Inventory"

"Inventory!"

Inventory: This area is a bottomless pit to throw all your goodies that you don't need at the moment. You can store food, drink, and all kinds of stuff in here. Be sure to abuse it as many a Gamer has done before!

Now Finally say "Class"

"Oh thank God! Class!" I am finally glad to be almost done with this. I swear I heard Hatchet snort a laugh from over there, but I am not gonna acknowledge that one.

Class: This area is where you will go to pick your class and job. Classes are put into categories and some classes can be unlocked through special means. Each class goes from lvl 1/100. This makes leveling easy and rewarding. Your job will be something you can go through as well, but this doesn't increase your player level, only the awesome things you can do.

It is time to choose a Class Gamer! Alert Special class has been created for race. Alert Special class will become available when 3 classes have been maxed!

Well that sucks, but you can't have em all. I give a shrug and then go back to looking at the screen as it drops down a list of different things.

Class categories available:

Fighter

Mage

Rogue

I look at the class categories available and then look back at my stats. Going off what I have I think it would be best to go with what I am built for. So I think I'll stick to martial. It may be best to go frontline fighter anyway from my past experience. I remember I was a army Ranger for awhile in the military so being a frontliner with a bit of sneakiness in the future sounds really good to me. I pick Fighter and then the menu expands.

Fighter Class Category chosen. Please choose a class from the available menu:

Barbarian

Paladin

Bladedancer

Monk

Weaponmaster

I am leaning more towards Monk or Weaponmaster to be honest. I wonder if Magna has an opinion. "Hey Magna!"

[Yes Bjorn?]

"Can I get your advice on something?" I say with my hand to my chin. I feel a rush of emotion that feels like gratitude bombard my mind.

[YESSS! YES YOU CAN! I mean of course Bjorn. What do you need?]

I laugh pretty hard at her outburst and then feel as if someone is pinching my ear as she gets embarrassed and mad at me for laughing. "Owowowowowow! I'm sorry!" It then stops and then I rub my ear as I look back at the screen. "I was gonna ask if you had any advice for me on this stuff. I am leaning towards Monk and Weaponmaster."

[Hmph! Well if you must know then I would say go Monk. You are built to hit fast and hard and the Monk can utilize your Natural Weapons in it's fighting style. Plus it is a speedy fighter class as well so you will feel pretty at home with it.]

"Thanks Magna! You're the best!" As fast as she was mad at me she is now very grateful. Note to self... spoil Magna with compliments. Regardless I pick Monk and then begin to look at the explosion of new stuff I get.

Monk Class Selected. Alert New skills have been added to the Player.

Step of The Wind (0%): The Player can spend this once every hour to stop the fall of Stamina for a full minute. When popped the Player has infinite stamina for the Timeframe. Can be increased as you level up the Skill.

Basic combat (0%): How good you are at throwing a punch. This gives you a nice bit of knowledge and as you level it up your damage can be increased by a wide margin. Float like a butterfly and sting like a Player!

Meditate: This Skill can be used to clear one's mind and allow them to relax easier. This also recharges Health, Stamina, and Magika by 150%.

Cat like Reflexes (0%): A monk is no stranger to moving quick. This improves the chances to successfully dodge, block, counter, and hand eye coordination by 25%.

I looked at all my new stats and skills and couldn't help, but smile. I looked over at Hatchet as my quest completed and he gave me a nod and then pointed at my window as it showed the quest completion. I almost get enough for a lvl up and I got my Gacha Coin as well. "What is this thing?" I held up the coin and then Magna spoke.

[That right there is a Gacha coin and it works the same way as your Race randomizer did, but it gives you items, titles, skills, and a bunch of other really cool stuff! You should spin it now and see what you get!]

I use the coin as at this point I trust Magna with my life at this point since we share this life now. She hasn't steered me wrong yet and now I get to see the new thing I'll get. The anticipation of watching the wheel go round and round is just exhilerating and then...

Spin spin Spin!

DING!

Casanova: You are too attractive with the opposite sex. Your Cha is treated as 25% higher when dealing with them. This can get you better prices in shops ran by the opposite sex and also make negotiations go all the more sweeter for you in the end!

Well... that will be really useful. Who knows I may end up finding someone to settle down with here because of this. I always wanted a family... I think? Eh, I'll roll with it. I felt a poke on the back of my head as I was contemplating and turned to see Hatchet holding a hand out to me. "So Bjorn... you ready for your second chance at life." It was at this moment I truly thought about this and then asked him.

"Hey Hatchet. Will I see you again or is this gonna be goodbye? I am gonna be forever grateful to you, but I would really like to keep in touch with the person who saved me you know?" He didn't say anything and pulled me into a warm embrace and gave me a gaze that a Father would give their son when he leaves the house.

"Bjorn you will be the 837th soul I saved and brought up into the Gamer system. You know how many I still keep in contact with?" I shook my head and he continued to smile. "All of them and when I drop you off to begin your adventure we can keep in contact. I can't give you direct help until later on when you reach the 300s, but I will gladly keep in contact with you until then kid." With those words a wave of relief washes over me. I go back to hugging him and then he hugs me tighter. "Now come on Bjorn, you don't wanna miss your execution do you?"

"No I would never wanna... miss... my..." I look over at him and then he touches my forehead with a glowing finger and then the world goes darker than dark. I open my eyes and begin to groan as I look around and see people in blue armor in a cart with me. A few look over to me and then a guy with red hair looks at me and gives an apathetic look to me.

"Bout time you woke up Giant-kin. Hope you preyed to the Gods recently." I looked around the cart to see others all bound with their hands and then looked down at my own and then grimaced.

"Fuck."

Author's notes:

Hey guys! Xerxes here and Jesus Christ are my fingers Cramping now. I am so glad to get this chapter done and I can't wait to get the next one out. I am gonna go get me some lunch and then come back and write some more. I am honestly having fun and I hope you all have fun reading the story as well.
