Chapter 4: The Great Escape

Bjorn POV

As soon as I saw everyone that was with us get in, I immediately slammed the door shut. In total after looking around the room I see we have at least 6 injured Stormcloaks and then 12 able bodied men and women, including Ulfric, Ralof, Ragvir, Cleo, Miranda, and Myself. It looks like we all made it and so I scanned the wall for any weak points around the door. As soon as I found one I then plunged my fist into the Cobble and watched it tumble behind me, effectively sealing us inside from this entrance.

Ragvir ran up and grabbed my shirt and then pulled me closer to his face. I had seen how beat red it was and the popping vein made me see it was anger that caused it, not fear. "What in Oblivion are you doing?! There's people back there you idiot!" I wasn't gonna argue with that as there was people back there, but unfortunately the enemy is too and I couldn't risk them tailing us. Especially that fucking Dragon appearing out of nowhere like he was Harry fuckin Alduin-i. I was about to retort when Ralof pulled him off of me.

"Ragvir stop! I'm sure he has his reasons for this! Just let him explain... him... self! Dammit boy what does Ulfric feed you?!" Ralof was having a lot of trouble holding him back, even though Ragvir was a whole 2 heads shorter than Ralof, that title of his is really showing right now. While Ralof tries to reel him in I began looking around the room.

The room opens up into this circular area with a table and chair on the other side. A few trophies from hunted animals line the walls, like a bear's head and antlers from a massive elk most likely. In the center of the room was a carpet, where most of the injured lay; I even see Miranda using healing magic on a few of the the injured as well. I am a bit confused because I thought she was a farmer/hunter, but those will be questions for later. Following my gaze up and to the right I see a banner flag with the emblem of what I can only assume is the Empire's symbol. I shake my head and then look over to the left and right sides of the room. A gate on the right that leads down a staircase, but it's locked as some of the Stormcloaks are fiddling with it, and then I look to the left and see a wooden gate, with thick timbers. Through it is a hallway that leads to another area of the place. I assume the guard's quarters and that might be good since there could be weapons and armor in there. I was about to head to that door when I heard a whistle and seen Ulfric waving me over to the table. I went over to see him as he was standing in front of Ragvir.

"I have a question for you... your answer will satsify me and my young ward over here." He said as he motioned to Ragvir, who was the definition of angry. I nodded to him to let him know to proceed and then he does. He lifts a finger and points to the collapsed entrance. "Why have you cut off the entrance to anyone else in the city?"

I searched his face to see if he was angry, but I saw it was calm. Putting the pieces together about what I know already from Ulfric, is that he has obviously some military background, no one can just lead AND fight like he does without seeing your fair share of blood. Perhaps he knows that and is simply testing me to see how I am? It makes sense when you are dealing with a completely new factor you haven't seen before, and I would think he is doing this to see if I am simply a psychopath, a forward thinking guy, or a person who acts on impulse. Based on this I can assume that a professional response will satisfy him more so I should speak as though he is my commanding officer (CO).

For critically thinking and making an educated guess backed by experience the player gains 1 INT and 1 WIS.

Well that answers that alright let's see. I square my shoulders and then look back to the door and then turn to face Ulfric. "I saw no other Stormcloaks coming our way that weren't already cut down. While it is unfortunate that civilians were left behind I made sure to cut off our enemies pursuit path. With that taken care of we won't have to worry about them sneaking up on us while we proceed through this place to find an exit. Does this decision trouble you, Jarl Ulfric?" I kept eye contact with him and then after a moment he then smirks.

"Concise report with a goal in mind and showing regret for the casualties, you've served haven't you?" He looks me up and down while Ragvir looks flabberghasted at the whole situation and how Ulfric isn't chewing my head off. Should I tell him what I was before? Probably won't hurt to and he'll most likely take my word for it right now.

Yes sir. I served as a Army Ranger for 4 years." I can see him raise an eyebrow at that and so I raise a hand to show I will explain. "Rangers are typically solo soldiers that operate by themselves or with a small group. We dealt with reconnaissance, sabotage, and on the off chance, assassination of VIPs, very important person(s). Course that last one is kept in the dark most of the time." I finish with a shrug and then keep my square posture as I look at him with my arms to my side.

"I have... not heard of that term of soldier before, nevertheless I can tell you served from the air about you. I won't pry right now into what it is that you have done so far, but I will be thankful for it nonetheless." At this point Ragvir looks like he is about to burst with anger at me and, now surprisingly, Ulfric. My eyes on Ragvir draws Ulfric's attention and then narrows his eyes. "Something you wish to say?" He asks with a threatening tone.

Ragvir let's it all out. "How can you be okay with what this, Monster, has just done?! Are you an idiot Jarl Ulfric?!" Ulfric's eyes narrow a bit more. "You are supposed to be freeing Skyrim from the menaces that are the Thalmor and the Empire and yet all I see is you allowing the people to be killed in the crossfire!" This outburst starts to draw the attention of everyone else and some of them don't look happy with it. You can definitely tell that Ulfric inspires loyalty with his people, even though some are so... outspoken. "Don't tell me the great Jarl Ulfric Stormcloak is afraid of a few Imps and a Lizard with bad breath that he would sacrifice lives to esc-" He didn't get any further as Ulfric hauled back and punched him in the face.

Ragvir turns to Ulfric surprised that he was struck. "ENOUGH!" His voice carried through the building and the rest of the Stormcloaks jumped back a bit, including Miranda. "What Bjorn did was the best decision, like it or not! Look around here Ragvir, only a quarter of us are armed and the rest have nothing, but their bare hands! 3 more are up, but still no weapon in sight and 3 are still being healed by that girl!" He then turns to her and then nods to her in thanks and she is taken aback, but hesitantly nods back to Ulfric. He then turns to berate Ragvir some more. "So with those numbers in mind Ragvir would you turn and fight some Imps and a DRAGON with nothing, but your bare hands?! Risking the lives of your brothers and sisters in a suicidal venture that will have you dead before your first PUNCH!" Ragvir is silent and then looks down as he doesn't have an answer. "As I thought." He then turns back to me and doesn't look at him. "We will discuss your status in the Stormcloaks when we return to Windhelm." And that was all it took to kick him while he was down.

I gave a whistle as I stepped back for Ulfric and then he walked to me and then looked up and asked. "Any plan you wish to discuss with me. I saw you walking towards that gate over there." He points back to the wooden gate and I nod and then wave him along with me. He follows close to my side.

"From what Ralof said this place is a barracks as well as an exit. I am assuming the exit is through the gate he is messing with." I point at the gate behind us that some of the Stormcloaks are messing with. "This means that the Barracks, as well as their spare arms and armor are in there." I point down the hallway and he puts a finger to his chin as he stands there nodding. He then places a hand to the wood and then shakes his head as checks the condition of the wood.

"It's good timber, real solid here. Not gonna get through that with axes." I smile and then crack my knuckles and then grab ahold of the gate and then begin to pull up with it as I try to force it up against the mechanism. It takes a minute, but then we can hear the sound of metal screaming as I let out a growl and the mechanism that operates the gate breaks. The gate slides up and then I hold it open for everyone as I walk underneath it and wipe sweat from my forehead with a free hand.

"After you my good Jarl." I wave ahead doing my best butler impression and Ulfric looks at me with a calculating gaze and then waits for me to say something else. I sigh and then say. "Look... I'm not a normal Nord. Let's leave it at that as I don't want to talk about anymore about me for now. Maybe in the future I'll tell you over some drinks, but right now let's arm up for what's ahead. I doubt it will get any easier." I see him nod and then he waves his men over.

"Alright men let's not waste this opportunity! Our generous friend Bjorn has opened the way to the barracks where we can arm up. If you have not a weapon then make your way there with me. You! Girl!" Miranda stops and points to herself with a confused look. "Yes you! What kind of weapon are you good with?"

"Umm... bow sir, but my brothers taught me how to use a knife." There's a few chuckles around as she looks down blushing a bit embarrassment at them chuckling at her. Ulfric even laughs, but I turn and give a supportive smile to her. "I... I was coming to join the Imperials against you all, but... well I saw what they are all about now. I don't like it so... can I join you all after this then?" A lot of them stopped when she started talking again and Ulfric looked at her with a calculating gaze, Miranda was sweating a bit from it, although it could be from healing so many injuries.

"Alright. I plan on taking both you AND Bjorn then, but first we'll consider this your... test. We'll look for a bow and a knife for you in there. Might find some arrows, just hope that they have some or it will be scavenging for you till you can get some." She nodded and seemed to brighten up from his words and then she went back to healing and a few of the female Stormcloaks patted her back. Ulfric then turned to me and then asked. "How long can you keep this door open?"

"Well let's see, considering the moon and the stars... all day if I wanted. I don't get tired easy so this is just like laying in bed for me. I would say to hurry it up though before the tower comes down around our heads." He nodded and then waved everyone to follow and as some went they patted my back. The next few minutes was spent hearing Miranda's magic going off and the clinking of swords in the next room over. After a bit I gave a yawn and then I seen Ulfric rounding the corner with all his men geared up and ready.

"No falling asleep Bjorn. We still need to escape first." He had a smirk on his face as he saw me give a chuckle and a mock salute. Ulfric then went into the room and then motioned to a few Stormcloaks to arm the rest of the people in the room that didn't have a weapon and then shouted over to Ralof at the other gate. "Don't bother with that lock anymore! We found a key to it in the chests in there." Ralof turned and then I dropped the door when the last Stormcloak was through the door. While walking over I took a look at my stats.

Seeing this I decide to increase my INT and CHA by 4 each and then my last 2 points in WIS. It is most likely for the best since all my physical stats are just gonna skyrocket just for being the race that I am. This is like my greatest lucky moment in here, being a Blacklight Virus let me tackle and choke a fuckin DRAGON! HOW COOL IS THAT?!

[Someone is pretty giddy! I can't wait to see what you do next Bjorn. This is gonna be so much fun! :D]

I chuckle a bit and then look at Ulfric again as he and the rest are all ready to go. I then look over to him and then get his attention. "Jarl Ulfric! Want me to take the lead?" I say as I am walking up to him. He looks at me and then thinks for a moment so I help him out a bit. "Let's be honest no one is coming behind us and I just tackled a dragon that called himself Alduin..." That name turned a few heads. "... and was choking him out. I'm pretty sure nothing is gonna get pass me and if it does you'll just cut it down."

Ulfric didn't even bat an eye and then motioned for me to walk in front with him and Ralof. Miranda was behind them armed with a longbow and some arrows and there was a large group of Stormcloaks walking with the injured in the middle of them to keep them safe. Ulfric then spoke as we were descending the stairs. "That thing really called himself Alduin? The World Eater, Alduin?!" He spoke with a bit more emotion in that. Seems that shook the mask he puts on for others a bit. All I did was nod at him and then he sighed. "Then it is worse than I thought. This war will have to be stopped in a temporary truce if the World Eater himself has returned."

Hearing this talk of Alduin, Ralof then speaks up with concern in his voice. "Jarl Ulfric..." Ulfric looks to him and motions him to speak. "My sister, Gerdur, she runs the mill near Riverwood. I... I have to warn her of the Dragon. I... after this I request to be allowed to make the run to Riverwood. Just to warn her. Please Jarl Ulfric!" He looks to be pleading and Ulfric doesn't even give it a second thought.

"Ralof we are going to be heading there first after this. Riverwood is a pit stop to Whiterun, I must speak to Jarl Balgruuf personally. He is one of the only people that I know of that is neutral in this that can deliver the necessary messages. We will warn your sister of that you have my word." He says to him as we get down the stairs. Ralof let's out a breath he didn't know he was holding and suddenly the place shakes and quakes. Ulfric then shouts out. "Brace yourselves!" As the hallway comes down ahead of us and we see some Imps run ahead and down the hall on the other side, before it collapsed.

One of the soldiers behind us yells out. "Now what?!" Followed by another pointing to the untouched door. "We can try that way." I looked at the door and then used Hunter's Pulse. There are about 8 imperials in the room ahead, but they aren't prepared for an attack it seems. I grab Ulfric on the shoulder and point at the door and then put a finger over my lips. He nods and then I open the door slowly and peek around. After seeing the Imps I then look back at Ulfric and the rest and in a hushed tone I whisper.

"Okay looks like 8 Imperials in there. Doesn't look like they expect company, so we can probably take them down before they know what's going on if we attack swift enough." I tell them.

"What how about we lure them out here into an ambush?" Ralof replies to that. I point at him and say.

"That's a good idea actually. This door opens out so you all can hide behind it and me and Ulfric can go in then run out. I doubt they would pass up the prized cow that would be Ulfric Stormcloak. Imagine the name they would get for slaying the leader of the enemy army." I laugh a bit and then look over to Ulfric. "This sound good to you, O prized cow Ulfric."

He chuckles in mild amusement. "I don't care how strong you are. We aren't close enough to crack jokes like those yet." I give a shrug and he then looks to the rest and then motions them behind the door into a uncomfortable cluster. After that he looks to me and then motions for me to follow. I do so and we walk into the room loudly. "So Bjorn. What do you think of this dragon attack? Pretty convenient right?"

I play along. "Honestly? I think someone called the damn thing here. I don't know who could do something like that, but... oh." At this point the Imps have all turned to us and we stayed like that in a comical staredown for a few seconds. "Umm... septim for your thoughts?" Why do I know what a septim i- oh yeah Your Memories are Mine. Gonna have to sift through those later. At this point though the Imp captain pulls his sword and starts to rush me and Ulfric. We immediately turn around and rush back through the door and are followed by all 8 Imps.

As soon as we make it into the hall and the last one comes out all of the Stormcloaks in hiding charge out and fell about half of them before they even know what is going on. I stop and turn on my heel and then punch the Imp captain in the midsection only for my arm to go through his chestplate, chest, and out his back as I hold his still beating heart. He looks at me wide eyed as I crush it and then rip my arm out with a spray of blood. Ulfric runs his sword through a soldier that was right behind the captain that was in shock from what I just did and then the other 2 tried to run only for Ralof and Miranda to take them out. Ralof with an axe to the throat and Miranda with an arrow between the Imp's eyes. I gave her a smile and nod and she seemed to be proud. Ulfric noted the shot and chaos and even he was impressed. As me and him walked past her he clasped her shoulder. "With aim like that I will have to recruit you. Keep it up, girl, and you'll be a Stormcloak yet." This only seemed to motivate her more. Jeez what is this guy's Charisma?

We all walked into the room and I saw some vials on the wall. I used Observe and it told me they were potions. A few stamina and health potions, actually. I showed one to Ulfric and then he nodded and turned to everyone. "Raid this room from top to bottom! I want everyone to find all healing potions and food that you can! When we get out of here it is gonna be a few hours to get to Riverwood where we can rest for the day and march on to Whiterun." Everyone nodded and got to work immediately and then Ulfric pulled me aside with him and Ralof towards the door. I threw Miranda my potions and then she joined us. "Bjorn I want you to at least tell me of your abilities or if you are going to remain a friend after this or not. I'll know if you are lying to me." His glare was intense. Damn it's like being put under a microscope by your CO, but like 10x worse. Thank you Gamer's Mind!

"I can tell him a little bit at least I think... maybe play it off as me being an experiment or something by mages? Yeah I'll go with that if he presses. I hope this works" I turn to him and just look him in the eye and note that both Ralof and Miranda are watching as well. I give a heavy sigh and start. "Well I really don't wanna talk about my origins, but I can at least say that I am a being that you will have a hard time comprehending. I remember waking up in a field before being captured and then I remember bits and pieces of who I was before. Honestly I don't know what I am now, but I do know my mind is healing as I keep walking. I know what I am capable of, but I don't even remember who I was before. I know I was a soldier and what I did as one, but I... can't remember much more than that and it hurts to do so." He nods to me and then keeps going. "What I do know is I am from Skyrim, I was a soldier before I woke up, Ihave these strange abilities that I don't see ending anytime soon, and everything else is coming to me like it is some sort of instince to do it. Regardless of that I know where my loyalties lay. They lay with the strong and noble. You fit that description from what I have seen and for that you have my loyalty. Hopefully you can find a way to help me heal the memories in my head too." He looks down in thought for a momen and Miranda and Ralof are enraptured in my tale so far, but I don't stop and just keep talking. I motion to the room of hardworking Stormcloaks.

"They follow you and they are loyal to you so that must make you a great person since I haven't seen you inspire it through fear. You chastized Ragvir when he went a little overboard and then even noted that I thought about the casualties outside in my answer to you. I guess what I am trying to say is that it inspires me to follow you the same as them. Like you said, we can help each other. I want to remember who I was and you need someone to help you with the war. As far as I know, whatever was done to me has built me for war and so I will let you point me at the enemy in exchange for helping heal my mind." Ulfric looks at me when I turn back to him and after a moment he then nods his head.

Alright... my court wizard may be able to help you with the mind part, so I'll trust you to follow orders and work with me, for now. Cross me and the dragon will be the least of your worries." I am both equally terrified and impressed with his way of handling me. I literally tackled a dragon in front of his eyes and punched through a man's chest and he is trying to intimidate me with death if I betray. Gamer's Mind is at least making me not seem like a pushover by a long shot so may as well respond.

"Not a problem you need to worry about Ulfric. I can promise you if you can deliver then I will be a arrow you can fire at the enemy." He nods and then leans back against the wall. I do the same and then Ralof and Miranda ask me a question.

"So instinctually... what do you know you can do?" Miranda asks and then Ralof asks me. "Also do you see yourself remembering things with certain triggers? Like the atmosphere of military seeming to reignite that memory of serving." I gave it a little thought to see what I should say. After a bit I spoke.

"I know I am insanely strong and durable. I don't feel the need to eat, drink, or sleep, and I also know I can heal in a matter of seconds. I also know that I can, how to say it? Well no easy way to say it. I can Consume creatures and take their memories..." I then transform into the archer that Alduin threw me at and then they jump back a bit as the tendrils clear and show an imperial. Even my voice changed as I spoke. "... and their shapes. Even know how to mimic them perfectly. I bet I can be Ulfric's best infiltrator hands down." I then transform back to who I was and then tendrils wrap around me as I do so. Once back to my more normal form I then look at them and they seem a bit uneasy. I frown, but nod at the sight I am given. "I know this will be pretty unsettling, but believe me when I say that I am on your side. I won't betray any of you and I am not some mindless beast. I promise. If I wanted to, don't you think I would have killed you all already?"

They look at each other and then look to see if any other Stormcloaks seen me do all this or if they were listening. When they see none were listening then Ulfric speaks up. "I am willing to give you the benfit of the doubt, but this conversation doesn't leave the 4 of us. I will reiterate with my inner circle and only you 3. No one else will know until you have earned the trust of everyone. I want them to be trustworthy to you before that. Ralof you may think I am being too good to him, but I owe him my life today. We all do. So each of you are to find a reason to trust him. Am I understood?" Ralof doesn't seem upset by the Jarl's decision and Miranda already has what looks to be stars in her eyes. Umm should I be concerned?

"I already feel the Same Jarl Ulfric, and if I am being honest I want the man that can choke out a dragon on my side!" He laughs and Ulfric joins in on the laugh and then slaps his shoulder.

"Well said Ralof! How about you Miranda?" He looks to her and she approaches me. I look down at her and now that I really look at her she comes up just below my chest.

"Can you teach me to fight? Make me stronger?" She asks with a bit of a twinkle in her eye and I back up as she gets a bit closer. I cough and then nod to her and she then pumps her fist. "Then I found all the reason I need to trust him. He can probably help me get back home too after all this too!" Ulfric and Ralof laugh as my life is already getting mapped out by Miranda after we get outta here. I look to them for help only for Ulfric to go oversee the rest of the men and Ralof turns to whistle. "Traitors!"

After a few more minutes the rest of the men are ready to move forward and then they get into position as Jarl Ulfric begins to mobilize them. "Alright men! Now that we have supplies and potions we are to proceed forward. I want all potion bearers in the back and staying ready to rush in and heal as need be! Everyone else behind me, Ralof, and Bjorn!" They all cheer and then get into position as Ulfric nods and then moves out. He motions for me to go infront of him and I do so. We end up seeing the winding hallway that turns into a staircase. Another Hunter's Pulse tells me there are 2 men down there with a lot of bodies in cages. I motion for Ulfric to stop and then he does as I look back at him.

"2 Imps most likely. I just saw the shadows of them and look. Stormcloak in the cage... looks dead too, unfortunately. How do you wanna do this Jarl Ulfric?" He seems to ponder for a moment and then asks me.

"Can you take them?"

"Of course. Want me to go ahead and do so?" He nods and motions me ahead. I do so and then carefully step forward trying not to make a sound.

Coming around the corner I then notice the Imps are around an end table in the room I make my way up to them from behind and then look at them before I reach out the the balding Imperial and snap his neck. The old man with the hood turns around and then yells "What?!" and then unleashes a torrent of lightning at me. I get struck and feel my muscles seize up as I yell out in pain. The feeling of everything locking and then burning from the sparks is not a fun experience at all. I look as my health takes a big hit from this and then all of a sudden...

Lightning resistance 1 (0%): Magna here! I'll put a decription in a bit, but now you can move so Kick that old man's ASS!

I can move once more and then I grab the man by the neck which stops him from blasting me with lightning. He goes to claw at my hands, but doesn't make a dent as I lob him as hard as I can into the wall by the stairs. I watched as his head pulped and he was imbedded into the wall. I yelled out to him in frustration. "Damn lightning bastard! Fuck!" I watched as my health regenerated and then poked my head around the corner. I looked at the Stormcloaks who were looking at me and then motioned for them to come. "It's clear, but..." I look at the cages filled with other Stormcloaks and their mutilated bodies. "...you won't like what they were doing in here." They steel themselves and then come down the stairs only to be shown the sight of their brothers and sisters all dead in cages and around the area. Ralof screams in anger and then starts to chop the old man's body that is in the wall and Miranda seems to tear up at the sight. Ulfric looks on and then lowers his head in respect, but I can tell on the inside he is tearing himself up. He's most likely seen this more than he cares to admit. The rest of the Stormcloaks have a mix of anger and sadness as they mourn the fallen.

You Leveled Up x1

I look around and notice a mage in a cage with a book next to him. I use observe on the book and it says that it is a skill book to learn the spell Sparks. I look at it and then grab the cage door and wrench it open. It was easier than the last few doors, must be from the level up then. After I got the cage open I grabbed the book and then looked back at Miranda. I tossed the book to her and she caught and looked at it in confusion. "That's a spell book for a lightning spell. I would study up on it if I were you. I ain't a magic guy except with what I have." She nods and then Ulfric then makes his way to a hall where we find a lot more cells with dead bodies inside. Each sight of a new corpse is enough to enrage you.

Once we reach the end, Miranda loses it a bit. "Those monsters... I trusted the Empire and then I see what they do to people. It's sick! What is wrong with them?!" She doesn't yell, but her voice is laced with venom. Ulfric turns to look at her as we keep walking.

"I ask myself that question everyday, girl. There is no answer to that question yet... I would love to find it though. Find a cure for all this madness and then put an end to it." He looks at a hanging corpse in a cage and then turns right with me down a path that leads to more cages and a left turn.

Ralof speaks next. "Only cure I see is an axe... some people can't be saved from the demons inside of them." He spits on the ground and then I speak up next as we turn left and head towards a hole in the wall.

"Remember that everyone is different. There is no doubt people on the side of the Stormcloaks that are the same as these. Evil comes in many forms of shapes and sizes, sometimes it hides right under your nose and you don't know it's there till it's too late. I wouldn't label all of your enemy like the 2 we just killed." I take the first step into the hole and we make our way down. "Certainly helps though when killing them." I then hear a resounding of nods and acknowledgements.

We eventually make it into a room that has running water and a few cobble bridges paving the path around the water. In the room is a few more Imperials scattered about the place. 2 archers are on the other side and I see 3 down below with one more walking the bridges. I look over to Ulfric and then I say. "I'll take the one making the rounds, you and the rest can charge down below and take out the 3 down there, I bet Miranda can take out the archers with her crackshot aim. Sound good?" He nods and then we charge in.

I don't even give the Imperial time to think as I jump around the corner and sprint as fast as I can into them. I shoulder check them into the wall and they fall like a sack of bricks. Ulfric and his men make it down below and begin to hammer into the Imperials there and I react just in time to catch an arrow that was aimed for me by the archers. I watch as Miranda pulls out an arrow and launches it into the offending archer's neck and then the other one goes to fire at her, but she draws back on the bow and then launches a clean arrow into the man's eye and he falls back onto the ground. I whistle at this and then look at Miranda and simply say. "Scary." She giggles a bit and somehow that makes it worse and better at the same time.

I then look at Ulfric and his men to see their handiwork. One of the imperials is unrecognizable and I see one holding his own against 3 Stormcloaks, but another sneaks up behind him and takes his head off. I then see Ulfric and Ralof each hack off an arm on the last Imperial and then Ragvir takes him down by plunging and axe in his head. With the room clear we make our way to the other side and find a drawbridge and a lever. Ralof walks forward and pulls it as the bridge drops for us to cross. All of the Stormcloaks don't waste a moment when they hear the roar of Alduin and run across. We all make it across as soon as we see the way we came collapse and a boulder fall onto the bridge, destroying it. Ralof then says what we were all thinking. "No going back that way, huh?" I gave him the most 'Really bro' stare I ever have in my life. He then laughed and few others gave some chuckles as it worked to lighten the mood a bit.

I looked at the open area where we were and then seen the small waterfall in the cave with the running stream. It was soothing actually and I followed it to a path that looks like it leads out. Ulfric and I made our way in with the rest following behind and then we seen the collapsed cave wall. A few people gave some disheartened groans, but then I turned and seen the opening to the right. I also a skeleton and then shook my head. "Poor bastard." I got a nod from Ulfric and we made our way into the new opening in hopes of finding an exit. The look on everyone's face when we found our way into a giant frostbite spider nest was both funny and horrifying. A few people were shaking and some stayed back, but me, Ulfric, and Ralof breathed out a heavy sigh and walked forward. "How big do they get?"

"Remember the Cart we were brought in on?" Ralof said to me as we heard the skittering above us. I looked up in time to see 8 spiders of varying size descending to us.

"Fuck me sideways with a rusty spoon." They landed all around us and we were surrounded pretty quickly. I just let go and stomped in the head of the nearest one as I was splattered with bug guts. 2 more came on my sides as I then kicked one and vaulted over the other one. The one I kicked hit one that was jumping at Ulfric and then I slammed my fist into the one I dodged's abdomen. It screeched as I slammed it into the ground and then I heard the loosing of 2 arrows as Ralof was saved by Miranda from a nasty sneak attack. Ralof had already killed his other 2 and so I turned to Ulfric who got the biggest one and I watched him slam it on the ground as he started hacking it to pieces. The squelching sound was barely able to drown out the one that got hit by it's friend. That one was hissing in pain as 5 out of it's 8 legs were unusable and so I picked up a sharp rock and then threw it into the head of the spider. It died instantly.

You Leveled Up x1

With the spiders dead we looked around and I sent out another Hunter's Pulse to look and found that there was none. With that settled we then waved the rest to come and then found ourselves in a larger cave with a break of sunlight coming from the back. We all spotted the bear instantly and then we moved to start sneaking. I seen my Stealth has leveled up as well from this. I get an idea however and look to Ulfric. "Bears good eating and we got a lot of us here." He looks to me and sees I picked up another stone and then shakes his head and chuckles.

"I could go for some bear, now that you mention it Bjorn. Go crazy and everyone else stay back." I smirk, then wind back with the stone and then throw it as hard as I can at the bear. It hits it in the head and it doesn't even make a sound as it's skull caves in. A few Stormcloaks clap and then I do my best to make a over the top bow to them. They all laugh in a good hearted nature as we make our way to the bear. "So you killed it and how are we going to get it out of here?" Ulfric asks me with amusement laced in his tone. I just bend down and then pick it up and place it on my shoulder like it is nothing. The rest look at me and then Ulfric says. "I am not surprised anymore. Come on... that bear got in here somehow which means there is an exit." We all began to walk around and found the bones of the bear's meals, but see a slope going around the cave and heading further in, or out. We followed it and befor long we were greeted with the light of the sun coming from the exit of the cave and to say that everyone cheered was an understatement. Ulfric and Ralof patted my back and we all laughed at finding the exit and heading through.

As soon as we made it through I got to see the ever expanding wilds of Skyrim and seen the tall trees. It was beautiful looking out and seeing a mountain in the distance and the now clear blue skies with the sun up high. The birds and wildlife were running about and I took my first deep breath of Freedom. It felt so good. I then heard Ralof whisper/yell "Get down!"

We all watched as Alduin flew over us and went away towards the horizon, his earsplitting roar resounding overhead. After he was gone Ulfric stood up and moved in front of all of us. He looked at us with mirth in his eyes. "Brothers and sisters... WE MADE IT!" He lifted his fist in the air as all the rest of us let out a scream of pride. I even found myself joining in on the little war cry. We escaped Helgen and I fought a dragon.

Author's Note:

Hey guys it as you can see I have been writing since I am riding a high of storytime I have. I will say that seeing people appreciate the story is one of the driving factors here too. I haven't felt this proud of myself in a long time and I can't tell you all how much I appreciate the compliments. To all of you it may seem like a passing word of "Good job!", but to me it honestly means the world. I will keep writing today till I get bored so most likely another chapter will be out after this one today and if not then first thing tomorrow morning most likely.

Holosagewolf32: I just reread the stuff and yeah I see it now. I will try to be more careful in the future, but thanks for the compliments bro!

Animelover3246: Thanks for the compliments man and I hope you enjoyed this chapter too! XD
