Captured and made into a circus attraction Merlin arrives in the great hall as part of the entertainment for the Crown Prince's 21st birthday. When he lays eyes on Arthur Pendragon he knows there's something familiar about him, reminding Merlin of the lake. He knows if he wants to return for good he needs to kill Arthur. Merlin is a siren after all.

A Drastic Re-write of Series 5, Episode 9, "All of My Heart". Arthur is devastated after Gwen's betrayal. He finds the hope of love elsewhere, but how will Merlin cope?

But it backfires, and they find themselves in a rather unpleasant situation, in which they grudgingly need to work together to right it. Set during/after season 4 episode 6, "A Servant of Two Masters".

What had originally been a plan to get Arthur out of an unwanted marriage devolves into a tug of war between Arthur and his erstwhile intended, with Merlin as the rope. Or, the one in which Merlin is the most tormented human being ever and Arthur wouldn't see sense if it danced naked in front of him.

What stood out to Arthur was the blueness of Merlin's eyes. The shade bright and clear in the memories that seemed to burst with color.
