While this story is based one of my playthroughs of the Mass Effect Games there are certain AU aspects to it including certain AU pairings including Ashley/Miranda, original characters, and certain changes from the main ending.

When Thane is revived in a similar fashion to the way Cerberus had revived Shepard, he learns that the galaxy is not as he left it. The Reapers are gone, Cerberus is gone, and Shepard has moved on. Having no purpose for his skills now, he follows the orders of the woman who brought him back, in a quest to eliminate another great threat to the security of Council Space.

During the confrontation on Noveria, Matriarch Benezia is prevented from killing Liara by a timely Charge from Aethyta. As it turns out, Aethyta had never stopped keeping an eye on Liara and Benezia after the latter walked out. Benezia's insane actions have concerned and infuriated Aethyta enough to forcefully intervene with Benezia's seemingly random spiral into insanity.

I died and now I've been shoved into a different body in a different time in a different reality. Awesome. It was just what I needed to spice up my day. I can't wait to save the galaxy and be a hero and 'get the girl'. Pfft. Right. That's going to happen. Thanks to my new body I'll be lucky to get out of wherever they take me let alone join a top secret mission. But you never know.
